Military Helicopter Shot by Bullet in Virginia

The FBI is investigating the shooting of a military helicopter during a training mission this week in northern Virginia, injuring one crew member who was aboard, officials said Wednesday.

The Air Force helicopter was flying over Middleburg on Monday when it was shot from the ground nearby, according to authorities. The helicopter made an emergency landing at the Manassas Regional Airport, and federal agents were called to the scene to investigate, the FBI said in a statement.

The crew members aboard the UH-1N Huey helicopter, assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, were on a routine training mission when the helicopter was struck by a bullet, the Air Force said in a statement. The helicopter was about 10 miles northwest of the airport, near Middleburg, and was flying about 1,000 feet above the ground when it was hit, according to officials.

One crew member in the helicopter was injured but has since been treated and released from the hospital, according to authorities. The initial findings of the investigation show that the helicopter was struck by a bullet, causing some damage to the aircraft, though it landed safely, the Air Force said. WATCH: Trump Campaign Releases Devastating Biden Ad

The Trump campaign was ready. As soon as presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden announced that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) was his running mate, Team Trump released their first ad about the new ticket. In it, the campaign declares their new nicknames for the Biden-Harris ticket, “Slow Joe” and “Phony Kamala.”

On Wednesday, they released their second ad, which according to the campaign exposes Biden’s “long history of racism.” The ad’s strategy is simple: It directly quotes Biden. . .

These comments were cringey. But some of the biggest blemishes on his record on race were nicely highlighted by his newly minted running mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) during the Democratic primary. In one debate, Harris shared her disgust that Biden had praised working with two former senators, Mississippi Sen. James Eastland and Georgia Sen. Herman Talmadge, who supported racial segregation. South China Sea: Chinese Military Told Not to Fire First Shot in Stand-Off With U.S. Forces

China has told its service personnel “not to fire the first shot” as Beijing looks to de-escalate tensions with the United States in the South China Sea, sources familiar with the situation told the South China Morning Post.

Both sides have stepped up their operations in the disputed waters, increasing the risk of incidents that spiral out of control, but Beijing does not want to give American hawks the opportunity to escalate things further.

The sources said Beijing had ordered pilots and naval officers to exercise restraint in the increasingly frequent stand-offs with US planes and warships.

Meanwhile, further details have emerged about a phone conversation between the two countries’ defence ministers last week.

The call was first suggested by the US side about “a month earlier” but was initially given a frosty reception in Beijing. But a source said the Chinese leadership later had a change of heart and decided to reach out as tensions escalated in the South and East China seas. Head of U.S. Central Command Warns ‘Underlying Conditions Remain’ for Revival of ISIS

U.S. Central Command’s Gen. Frank McKenzie has no rose-colored glasses when it comes to the complex challenge of defeating the Islamic State. In fact, he knows it’s “not going to go away.” . . .

McKenzie told the United States Institute of Peace Wednesday that his aim is to prevent ISIS from again holding territory, hand over responsibility to local Armed Forces, and prevent displaced and marginalized people from radicalizing. . .

“The way that we contribute actually is we buy time,” McKenzie said. “If we can keep the situation relatively stable, then our diplomats have an opportunity to work the problem.”

With Iraqi diplomats entering their third month of negotiations with the U.S. regarding a status of force agreement for hosting troops in Iraq, McKenzie is confident that enough U.S. troops will remain and that Iraq will see the need.

“The underlying conditions that allowed for the rise of ISIS remain,” he said. “They continue to aspire to regain control of physical terrain.” (Read more from “Head of U.S. Central Command Warns ‘Underlying Conditions Remain’ for Revival of ISIS” HERE)

George Soros Claims There Is an ‘International Conspiracy’ Working Against Him

Leftist billionaire George Soros called President Donald Trump a “confidence trickster” and addressed the accusations that he is the center of a worldwide conspiracy.

The infamous financier made the comments in an interview with La Repubblica, an Italian publication.

“There are several strands of these conspiracies,” said Soros.

“One is that I have built a foundation that actually covers most of the globe. That fits the idea of what was at the time called a Judeo-Bolshevik global conspiracy. Now it’s just called a Jewish conspiracy,” he explained.

“There is an actual, genuine international conspiracy against me,” he claimed. “So, when I am challenging the same issues for an Open Society throughout the world, like discrimination, racial exclusion, totalitarian regimes, I am not conspiring, I am openly bringing forward the mission of my life. And my enemies learn from each other. And they attack together using similar techniques.” (Read more from “George Soros Claims There Is an ‘International Conspiracy’ Working Against Him” HERE)

‘It Was a Planned Attack.’ Chicago Mayor Says Looting Was Organized

A day after looters smashed-in retailer’s windows, carried away loads of high-end merchandise and overwhelmed police officers in downtown Chicago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot says the violence was an organized raid and not a demonstration of angry protest.

“When people showed up on Michigan Avenue in the downtown area with U-Haul trucks and cargo vans, and sophisticated equipment used to cut metal, and the methods that were used, and how quickly it got spun up… that wasn’t any spontaneous reaction,” Lightfoot told TIME in her fifth-floor offices at Chicago’s City Hall on Tuesday.

The chaos that unfolded Sunday night, and into the predawn hours Monday, was initially blamed on a police shooting in the city’s southside Englewood neighborhood. News of the incident—along with misinformation that a minor had been shot—pinballed on social media, resulting in “caravans” of cars headed north downtown, Lightfoot says.

“To be sure, there are people that did join in that were motivated by lots of different reasons, and certainly were motivated by social media posts encouraging people to come downtown,” Lightfoot says. “But the core of what happened — that’s organized criminal activity… It was a planned attack.” (Read more from “‘It Was a Planned Attack.’ Chicago Mayor Says Looting Was Organized” HERE)

Barr: U.S. Facing New Form of ‘Urban Guerrilla Warfare’ Driven by Left’s ‘Lust for Power’

The United States is grappling with a new form of “urban guerrilla warfare” driven by the left’s “lust for power,” Attorney General William Barr told “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Sunday.

Discussing the ongoing Black Lives Matter riots rippling through several US cities, Barr told host Mark Levin that the organization — which has been characterized by the media as a fed-up activist group — is comprised of “Bolsheviks” with a focus on on “some form of socialism, communism.”

“They are a revolutionary group that is interested in some form of socialism, communism. They’re essentially Bolsheviks. Their tactics are fascistic,” he said.

Barr compared the nationwide riots organized by Antifa to “a new form of urban guerrilla warfare.”

“The way the guerrilla…hides out among the people as a fish in the ocean…what they do is they are essentially shielding themselves or shrouding themselves in First Amendment activity,” he explained. “They go into the demonstrations, which are exercising First Amendment activity, and they insinuate themselves in there to shield themselves. That’s where they swim. And what they do is they hijack these demonstrations and they and they provoke violence.” (Read more from “Barr: U.S. Facing New Form of ‘Urban Guerrilla Warfare’ Driven by Left’s ‘Lust for Power’” HERE)

A Record 76% of Americans Can Vote by Mail This November

At least three-quarters of all American voters will be eligible to receive a ballot in the mail for the 2020 election — the most in U.S. history, according to a New York Times analysis. If recent election trends hold and turnout increases, as experts predict, roughly 80 million mail ballots will flood election offices this fall, more than double the number that were returned in 2016.

The rapid and seismic shift in how Americans will vote is because of the coronavirus pandemic. Concerns about the potential for virus transmission at polling places have forced many states to make adjustments on the fly that — despite President Trump’s protests — will make mail voting in America more accessible this fall than ever before.

“I have a hard time looking back at history and finding an election where there was this significant of a change to how elections are administered in this short a time period,” said Alex Padilla, the California secretary of state who chairs the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State. Biden Accuses President Trump of ‘Coddling Terrorists and Thugs’ Overseas; Trump Calls on Biden to Denounce Antifa

By Breitbart. Joe Biden, the presumptive Democrat nominee, accused President Donald Trump on Wednesday of “coddling terrorists and thugs” around the globe.

“We’re going to get to work fixing the mess that President Trump and Vice President [Mike] Pence have created, both at home and abroad, through four years of mismanagement and coddling of terrorists and thugs around the world,” Biden said during an event in Delaware alongside his newly announced running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).

Biden’s comments took some Republicans, including Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), by surprise given the former vice president’s history of opposing military efforts against terrorist leaders.

Trump Calls on Biden to Denounce Antifa

By New York Post. President Trump on Wednesday called on Joe Biden to denounce radical far-left group Antifa after pranksters appeared to direct “Antifa.com” to Joe Biden’s campaign page.

The president was asked about the snafu — which seemed timed to Biden’s unveiling of his VP Kamala Harris in Delaware — and whether his opponents needed to denounce Antifa as a domestic terror organization.

“They should. I think they’re afraid to,” Trump claimed. “In my book, it’s virtually part of their campaign, Antifa.”

“The Democrats act like, ‘Gee, I don’t know exactly what that is.’ Take a look at Portland, take a look at any place you want to take a look at — they’re everywhere,” he continued. (Read more from “Trump Calls on Biden to Denounce Antifa” HERE)

Joe Biden Announces Running Mate; President Trump Chimes In: ‘She was My Number One Pick’; Flashback: Kamala Harris Said She Believed Biden’s Rape Accusers

Kamala Harris Named by Joe Biden as His VP Pick

By NBC News. Joe Biden has chosen Kamala Harris, the prominent senator from California whose political career has included many barrier-breaking moments, as his running mate, his campaign announced on Tuesday.

The decision comes more than a year after Harris, who was also a 2020 Democratic candidate, clashed with Biden over racial issues during the first primary debate. If elected, she would be the nation’s first female, first Black and first Asian American vice president. . .

The announcement from Biden — which a campaign aide told NBC News came about 90 minutes after he called Harris to tell her — caps weeks of speculation and is Biden’s biggest decision to date as the presumptive Democratic nominee, a detail Biden himself noted in his announcement.

“You make a lot of important decisions as president. But the first one is who you select to be your Vice President. I’ve decided that Kamala Harris is the best person to help me take this fight to Donald Trump and Mike Pence and then to lead this nation starting in January 2021,” Biden wrote in an email from his campaign to supporters. Trump Slams Kamala Harris After VP Pick, Claims ‘She Was My Number One Pick’

By Fox News. President Trump, in his first on-camera remarks about the new Biden-Harris ticket, said he was “a little surprised” that Joe Biden chose Kamala Harris to be his running mate given her “very poor” primary performance — but said she was his “number one pick” to face off against.

During a White House briefing Tuesday afternoon — shortly after Biden announced Harris as his VP nominee — Trump lashed out against the Democratic senator.

The president, referring to her failed 2020 presidential run, claimed he was most surprised by the pick because “she did very very poorly in primaries, she ended up right around two percent.” And he drew attention to her campaign attacks on Biden at the time.

“She was very disrespectful to Joe Biden. It’s hard to pick someone that was that disrespectful,” Trump said referring to a debate moment to Harris’ blitz against Biden in last summer’s primary debates. Flashback: Kamala Harris Said She Believed Biden’s Rape Accusers

By The Federalist. Kamala Harris, whom expected Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden announced Tuesday as his running mate, said last year that she believes the women who accused Biden of sexual assault.

“I believe them and I respect them being able to tell their story and having the courage to do it,” Harris said in 2019. . .

After Reade’s accusations were publicized, Harris was criticized as a hypocrite for supporting Biden over Reade, especially after being quick to defend Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. When Harris chose to support Biden instead of Reade, she was already considered on the shortlist as a potential running mate for the Biden campaign.
