Trump Campaign Sets ‘Tax Trap’ to Smoke Out Biden

President Trump surprised many observers when he announced a unilateral change to the tax code at the weekend, suspending payroll taxes with a view to permanent cuts after the election.

Critics were quick to point out that major changes to taxes fall entirely to Congress, and the proposal has little support among either party on Capitol Hill. Trump conceded his plan would likely spark a legal battle.

But the presidential memorandum — signed at his New Jersey golf club on Saturday evening along with two executive orders and a second memorandum — comes as part of a strategy designed to showcase the president as a man of action and, in this case, lay a tax trap for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, challenging him to defend middle-class taxes.

A former White House official said it was designed to shift the focus on to Biden.

“The president has been keen on this for a long time, so it wasn’t conjured out of thin air,” the official said. “But at the same time, does it raise awkward questions about raising taxes for a socialist candidate who would rather stay in his basement?” (Read more from “Trump Campaign Sets ‘Tax Trap’ to Smoke Out Biden” HERE)

Chicago Is Using a 1984 Tactic to Find Quarantine Violators

Earlier this week, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) announced a mandatory 14-day quarantine for those traveling from a handful of states and Puerto Rico. People are asked to quarantine if they were recently in: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah or Wisconsin.

According to Chicago Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady, health officials will check a traveler’s social media accounts if they believe a person was recently in one of the states that require them to quarantine for 14 days. Any social media postings could be used as evidence to issue a citation, NBC Chicago reported.

“One of the easiest ways to sort of get enough proof that there was the potential of a violated quarantine order without me having to send out an inspector or do any sort of more aggressive follow up to collect that is to look at social media,” Arwady explained. Public School Teacher: We Don’t Want You to Know the Radical Stuff We’ve Been Teaching Your Kids

Despite Democrats’ push for remote learning this fall, some public school teachers have concerns. Not because they’re worried about the quality of education children will receive, but because they don’t want parents to find out about the radical progressive agenda they’ve been pushing for years.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, a Philadelphia teacher, author, and columnist named Matthew R. Kay expressed anxiety about teachers’ ability to effectively accomplish their “equality/inclusion work” over Zoom calls when they can’t be sure who is overhearing them. The thread has since been hidden but was captured by Corey DeAngelis, director of school choice at the Reason Foundation.

“How much have students depended on the (somewhat) secure barriers of our physical classrooms to encourage vulnerability?” Kay asks. “How many of us have installed some version of ‘what happens here stay here’ to help this?”

Kay continues to outline his concerns about the “damage” that parents can do in “honest conversations about gender/sexuality.” While Kay says he is mainly concerned about conservative parents, he adds that those on the left can be harmful as well.

Study Shows ‘Very Little Evidence’ of Virus Spread in Schools

A study on coronavirus transmission in 100 U.K. schools, described as one of the world’s largest, will confirm that there is “very little evidence” the disease is spreading in those institutions, a leading scientist reportedly proclaimed recently.

Over the weekend, the Sunday Times quoted Professor Russell Viner, the president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and a member of a government advisory group, as saying:

A new study that has been done in U.K. schools confirms there is very little evidence that the virus is transmitted in schools. This is some of the largest data you will find on schools anywhere. Britain has done very well in terms of thinking of collecting data in schools.

The comments from Viner, who supports the reopening of schools, echoed recent remarks made by a top U.S. public health official who said the United States must reopen schools for public health reasons,

Public Health England, a government agency, is conducting the U.K. study, which is to be published later this year. Researchers reportedly tested an estimated 20,000 students and teachers in 100 schools across England to monitor the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) until the end of the summer school session. Airline Bans Passengers for Refusal to Wear Masks

Delta Air Lines (DAL) has banned over 100 travelers from flying with the airline after they refused to follow its face mask policy, CEO Ed Bastian told CNN.

“We’ve had well over 100 people that have refused to keep their mask on during the flight,” Bastian said.

Delta expanded its face mask policy in July to require them at all the airports it serves. The company said at the time that those passengers who refused to comply with the rule would be banned from future travel with the airline as long as the face mask requirement was in place. . .

Delta’s face mask policy requires travelers that have a medical exemption that would prevent them from wearing a face mask to undergo a medical screening prior to flying with the airline. (Read more from “Airline Bans Passengers for Refusal to Wear Masks” HERE)

Chihuahua Saves Veteran Owner’s Life After He Suffers Stroke

A North Carolina Chihuahua is credited with saving his owner’s life last week, according to a report from WCTI.

Eighty-six-year-old Navy Veteran Rudy Armstrong survived a stroke after his little dog Bubu ran to get help. Armstrong lives alone with his furry companion in a houseboat in Oriental, a town in Pamlico County, but Bubu was able to lead a nearby dockmaster back to Armstrong’s home to assist the sick vet.

“I sat down in my chair, drank my coffee, and the next thing I know it was after lunch,” Armstong told WCTI about his ordeal, “I couldn’t even get my hand to move and my foot wouldn’t move.”

He also explained that he had instructed Bubu to get help from a dockmaster named Kim when he couldn’t reach his phone to call emergency services.

“I didn’t want to be there for a couple of days before somebody would come by, so I said, ‘Ok Boo-Boo, go get me some help,’” Armstrong said. (Read more from “Chihuahua Saves Veteran Owner’s Life After He Suffers Stroke” HERE)

College Student Faces Charges Over Visible Trump Photo on Zoom Meeting

A student at a New Jersey college is facing potential suspension after fellow students filed a report against him for a Facebook post he wrote after using a photo of President Trump as the background on a Zoom call. And now, a students’ rights organization is calling on the university to withdraw the slew of charges it brought against him.

Stockton University doctoral student Robert Dailyda, according to a letter from the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), is facing student-conduct charges of disruptive behavior; discrimination; harassment; hostile environment; harm; and bullying and cyberbullying.

The charges stem from July 1, when Dailyda used a photo of Trump as his Zoom background, according to a letter sent by FIRE to the university. FIRE is demanding that the charges be withdrawn no later than Tuesday. . .

But he later posted a message on Facebook on the “leftist agenda of BLM and the white self haters” that he said he has “seen in action” at Stockton.

“I have gotten to the point that I have to say something. I love this country. We are a diverse, yet assimilated population from all backgrounds. I believe all must have the same opportunities and I commit to make that a priority,” Dailyda said. “Beyond that, I am done with the leftist agenda of BLM and the white self haters. I have seen it in action in my doctoral classes at Stockton and the general media. I’m not backing down. If we can’t get past this, ok, I’m ready to fight to the death for our county and against those that want to take it down. I believe there are also many like me.” (Read more from “College Student Faces Charges Over Visible Trump Photo on Zoom Meeting” HERE)

Secret Service took down an armed person near the fence outside the White House early Monday evening.

According to The Post Millennial, Secret Service “whisked” President Donald Trump away from his White House press briefing to the Oval Office. He returned about nine minutes later and confirmed there was a shooting.

“There was a shooting outside of the White House and it seems to be very well under control. I’d like to thank the Secret Service for doing their always quick and very effective work,” Trump said.

Silent Majority Roars in Seattle: Massive Pro-Police Rally Held Ahead of Defund the Police Vote (VIDEO)

. . .City residents turned out in droves for a “Back the Blue” rally outside city hall ahead of a major vote on Monday that would take funding away from the city’s police department.

Videos and photographs posted to social media showed what appeared to be thousands of people outside Seattle City Hall, adorned in blue shirts and holding signs to show support for law enforcement.

Seattle resident John Balph, who said that police reforms are needed and called Black Lives Matter “a very worthy movement,” said that defunding the police department is a “haphazard” prospect.

“There’s bad enough news from the White House and Trump,” Balph told the Seattle Times. “But it’s depressing to live in Seattle right now.”

“Is this the city the council wants to represent, a deserted city?” he continued. “It’s not the Seattle I want to live in. But average citizens can’t do anything about it. It’s very frustrating.” (Read more from “Silent Majority Roars in Seattle: Massive Pro-Police Rally Held Ahead of Defund the Police Vote” HERE)
