Americans Think ‘Fake News’ Is More Prevalent Than Ever

The most recent iteration of a multiyear project conducted by Gallup and the Knight Foundation on “Trust, Media and Democracy” shows that Americans are increasingly likely to believe that “fake news” is a real and damaging phenomenon.

The latest version of the poll, conducted between Nov. 8, 2019, and Feb. 16, 2020, shows a four-point increase in the number of respondents who perceive a heavy bias in political media coverage compared to the last Gallup/Knight survey, which was released in 2018. . .

Republicans perceive media bias at a much greater rate than their Democratic counterparts: A whopping 94 percent of self-identified Republicans believe the media is biased compared to 79 percent of Democrats. Republicans are also much more willing to acknowledge that their primary news sources are compromised: 63 percent of Republicans are willing to acknowledge bias in their primary source of news coverage, compared to just 46 percent of Democrats.

Nearly three out of every four respondents (74 percent) believe “owners of news outlets attempting to influence the way stories are reported” is “a major problem,” a five-point increase from the 2017 survey. The number of respondents who agree that the media is “being too dramatic or too sensational in order to attract more readers or viewers” stands at 70 percent, up from 66 percent in 2017. New North Korea Report Suggests Pyongyang Can Hit U.S. With Nukes

North Korea likely already has the ability to mount nuclear warheads on intercontinental ballistic missiles, according to a United Nations report acquired by Reuters. The news has deepened concerns that major American cities are in range of Pyongyang’s nuclear arsenal, despite the efforts of President Donald Trump’s administration to disarm Kim Jong Un.

The confidential UN report shows that several unnamed nations agree that North Korea has “probably developed miniaturized nuclear devices to fit into the warheads of its ballistic missiles.”

The interim report was submitted to the 15-member UN Security Council North Korea sanctions committee Monday, Reuters said, and also noted that Pyongyang is still violating international sanctions and engaging in lucrative cyberattacks to secure much-needed funds.

Congress Looks to Extend COVID-19 Unemployment Benefit

Congressional negotiators expect the lapsed $600 a week federal unemployment benefits to be retroactively paid from July 31 onward after lawmakers find agreement on extending them.

As Democrats and Republicans duke it out over the size of the unemployment benefits in the coming months, the program is expected to expire temporarily, until approximately the end of August for most jobless individuals. The length of the lapse in benefits will vary depending on when Congress passes the next relief package and each state’s ability to adjust to the expected changes made to the benefits program.

Multiple congressional aides told the Washington Examiner that they expect the unemployment benefits to lapse until approximately two weeks after the next coronavirus relief package is passed. The aid will likely be retroactively applied for all benefits owed from the end of July, the aides said. The benefits were similarly retroactively distributed when the program was first created by the $2.3 trillion CARES Act relief package passed in March.

The jobless benefits expiring means the weekly income of over 25 million unemployed workers will be reduced by more than two-thirds in many states over the coming weeks. . .

Some economists said that although the benefits expiring will be a strain on many, most people are saving much more now than they were before the pandemic, and thus, incomes have risen. The higher savings, along with the existing state unemployment benefits, will give many who are unemployed or partially employed a financial cushion in the coming weeks, said Marc Goldwein, the senior policy director for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a group that advocates for deficit reduction. While polling continues to show President Trump behind Biden in key swing states, new voter registration numbers are telling a different story about his chances to win re-election in November.

According to Axios, the RNC continues to register more voters than the Democrat Party in places where it will matter most.

WATCH: Massive Explosion Shakes Lebanon’s Capital, Dozens of Deaths Reported

A massive explosion shook Beirut on Tuesday, killing at least 25 people and leaving dozens of others injured amid the widespread damage spread across Lebanon’s capital. . .

The health minister said more than 25 people were killed and over 2,500 injured.

Lebanese Red Cross official Georges Kettaneh said the injured were being taken to hospitals outside the capital because facilities there were at capacity. He put the number of casualties in the hundreds but said he did not have exact figures on dead or injured.

The afternoon blast shook several parts of the capital and thick smoke billowed from the city center. Residents reported windows being blown out, and balconies and ceilings collapsing. The explosion appeared to be centered around Beirut’s port and caused wide-scale destruction and shattered windows miles away.

A civil defense official on the scene of the blast said his men had evacuated dozens to hospitals and that there were still bodies inside the port, many of them under debris.

16 Shootings Leave 20 Injured During 24 Hours in De Blasio’s NYC; New Data Shows Shootings Increase, Arrests Drastically Drop

By Breitbart. Sixteen shootings left behind 20 wounded individuals on Sunday alone in Mayor Bill de Blasio’s (D) New York City.

The New York Post reports that there were “a total of 16 shootings involving 20 victims” on Sunday.

The Post also reports that Sunday’s violence was followed by seven shootings on Monday “with 13 victims.”

The shootings and subsequent injuries on Sunday and Monday in de Blasio’s New York City come one day after the city reached 777 shootings for the year, which surpassed the total number of shootings for all of 2019. NYC Crime: Shootings Increase While Arrests Cut in Half, Data Shows

By ABC News 7. An analysis of crime statistics by 7 On Your Side Investigates shows shootings have increased dramatically over the past few months in New York City, while arrests have been cut by more than half.

From two men opening fire at a prayer vigil for shooting victims in Cyprus Hills, to a man getting shot in broad daylight walking home from work in Crown Heights, to a 1-year-old getting killed by a stray bullet while sitting in his stroller in Brooklyn — it has been a violent summer in New York City.

7 On Your Side found shootings have jumped by 72% so far this year compared to the same time last year. The number of shooting victims has increased by more than 80% compared to 2019.

Despite community rallies to stop the violence, shootings continue while those getting arrested have decreased. NYPD police records show arrests are down by 54% this June compared to last June.

“Anthony Fauci is likely the most powerful physician in the history of this country. He is one of the forces behind the mass quarantines that tanked the economy and put millions out of work. He says it’s worth it though because the threat is so profound, so profound, so imminent that you should wear goggles and stop shaking hands, in the name of science. So it’s interesting in light of that that one thing Anthony Fauci doesn’t seem concerned about at all are the riots going on, the mass protests where thousands of people are crowded into together touching each other without goggles,” Carlson explained.

The Fox News host played a clip of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) questioning Dr. Fauci, specifically about whether or not people should be protesting and rioting. According to Fauci, he’s “not going to opine on limiting anything.”

“There is nothing Dr. Anthony Fauci won’t opine on as long as it doesn’t offend the popular, the fashionable left. Sex with strangers online? No problem. Shaking hands? Bad,” Carlson said. “Every day for the past several months virtually Dr. Fauci has advocated for a new coronavirus policy.”

Carlson played a clip of Fauci earlier this month saying politicians at the state and local level should be “as forceful as possible” when it comes to getting constituents to wear masks. According to the Fox host, this is a prime example of Fauci opining on government responses. . .

“Oh, we just have to do it. Really? Fauci is 79 but maybe if he had like 22-year-old kids who were trying to make their way in this world in an economy that is headed down the tubes, thanks largely to his recommendations, he would feel differently. It’s not merely an inconvenience when your economy collapses. It’s the end of the American Dream. That’s not a small thing,” Tucker explained. “Maybe it’s worth it. Just as the Deep State Wanted, Steve Stockman Is Infected With COVID-19

Some evil people in the U.S. justice system are smiling right now.

They got their wish.

Conservative champion former Congressman Steve Stockman is in the federal prison in Beaumont, Texas, and against all logic and human decency has been kept for months from being transferred to home confinement by someone “high up.”

Now, Steve is infected with COVID-19.

It is apparent that some people in the justice system want him dead.

What has happened to Steve must be investigated, and the culprits in the justice system and their abettors in the Bureau of Prisons exposed and punished.

Steve is the only over-60 diabetic prisoner remaining at the Beaumont, Texas federal prison facility, which also has reported the highest per capita COVID-19 infection rate of any prison in the country.

Steve’s age (63), multiple co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, asthma, and more), and the nonviolent, non-sexual nature of his conviction clearly make him eligible for transfer to home detention.

Steve has filed and even re-filed the papers for compassionate transfer to home confinement for at-risk prisoners, including a petition for “Compassionate Release” he filed with Warden F. J. Garrido on April 4.

Steve was told on April 23 he’d be placed in pre-release quarantine, but was then turned away at the door by prison staff on April 24.

Soon after, and one more time since then, Steve was told by prison officials he will not be leaving on orders from “very high up.”

On July 13 Steve filed a Request for Administrative Remedy, which was denied on July 17 by Warden Garrido, incorrectly stating Steve “must” serve 50 percent of his time to be eligible. Time served, however, is only one factor of many that may be considered, and it is not a mandatory directive as the Warden incorrectly says it is.

Warden Garrido’s letter also said that a “Home Confinement Committee” — whatever that is — reviewed Steve’s case and denied his request.

Steve has been clearly eligible for compassionate release or transfer to home detention like over 100,000 inmates in the United State have been.

The Deep State wanted him dead even before the outbreak of COVID-19. Last August, convicted murderer Kenny Don Stanley, known for prison violence, was inserted into a solitary confinement cell with Steve.

Orders from the top to keep Steve from going to home confinement are consistent with the political, Deep State targeting he has experienced since even before his conviction.

After three grand juries refused to indict Steve, the charges on which a fourth grand jury indicted him involved campaign finance and fundraising from two wealthy Republican donors, neither of whom filed complaints, and which charges have been criticized by even campaign finance lawyers as being flimsy and contrary to legal precedent.

Steve’s associates who testified against him later complained they were coerced under threat of imprisonment themselves to adopt the prosecution’s untrue version of events.

Writing in The Washington Times about Steve’s political prosecution, Rebecca Hagelin explained in 2019:

The 2018 criminal trial of Stockman has laid bare the underbelly of political targeting by the Obama administration’s Department of Justice. As a congressman, Stockman had exposed many instances of high-level corruption by Obama officials. His ability to chase down and hold accountable Obama officials is legendary. Stockman called for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric H. Holder for obstruction of justice and contempt of Congress.

Former prosecutor Rachel Alexander writing in 2018 at Townhall.com also about Steve’s political prosecution said:

[Steve] was known for boldly opposing President Obama. He was a Congressional whistleblower on Obama administration corruption, with such actions as calling for the House Select Committee to investigate the government’s handling of the Benghazi embassy tragedy of lost American lives, exposing President Obama’s payment to the Haqqani terrorist network in exchange for the release of Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl, and revealing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s violation of the Iran sanctions to allow the sale to Iran of specialized steel used in nuclear weaponry.

Super lawyer Sidney Powell, who represents General Michael Flynn, is quoted by Michael Tennant in 2020 at The New American: “It is highly likely [the Justice Department Public Integrity Section] targeted former Congressman Stockman and have been extremely and unreasonably harsh toward him because he was so outspoken in trying to hold Lois Lerner, the Clintons, and Obama accountable.”

As reported by Newsweek in 2015, Steve helped expose then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s role in a corrupt Iranian pipeline deal she approved after a Ukrainian billionaire pipeline company owner made multi-million dollar donations to the Clinton Foundation.

Steve made enemies in the Deep State. Their colleagues in the Bureau of Prisons are killing him.

The Deep State has acted lawlessly by spying on the Trump campaign and reporters such as Sharyl Attkisson, framing General Michael Flynn, and who knows what else for devious political reasons.

Now, in their ultimate depravity and lawlessness, they are attempting to knock off Steve Stockman.

Please contact Attorney General William Barr and Andre Matevousian, who heads the Correctional Programs Division within the Bureau of Prisons, and tell them:

They must initiate investigations into who in the justice or prison systems is attempting to kill Steve Stockman.

Steve Stockman needs to be given high-level medical care at a private hospital, then transferred to home confinement under the compassion program.

News of a previously unknown girlfriend first emerged in the latest trove of unsealed court documents, in which Ghislaine Maxwell was shown to have begged Epstein to get “Shelley” to publicly announce in the 2000s that she — not Maxwell — was the pedophile’s ex.

Now she has been identified as British-born author Shelley Anne Lewis, 43, who was a frequent traveler on Epstein’s private jet, including trips to his so-called “Pedo Island,” according to the Mail on Sunday newspaper.

“Shelley was always very well connected and beautiful. I am shocked and saddened,” a former colleague told the UK paper of her apparent romantic ties to the notorious late pedophile. . .

Maxwell, Epstein’s alleged partner in coordinating these depraved sex acts with underage girls, was recently arrested by federal authorities, denied bail, and being held in the same federal facility as Epstein before his highly suspicious suicide. With three passports and numerous accounts with millions of dollars, she’s a flight risk. She’s reportedly been given paper clothes to prevent self-harm.

Still, the former president being spotted on the island with minors That seems like at least something to look into, right? … And with these new documents, you’d think there would be at least some mention on the mainstream circuits. We’re not expecting much, but it’s been quiet. I mean, like German U-Boats in the Black Pit silence. Nothing. They’re suffocating this story with a pillow and those who do report on it barely give it the light of day. Is it shocking? No. Is it expected from these clowns? Yes. A former president was seen dabbling on some debauched island with an indicted child sex trafficker. That seems…like a problem (via Fourth Watch) [emphasis mine]:

What does this tell us about the Acela Media? Quite a bit. As Glenn Greenwald tweeted Friday night, “I don’t think there’s been a bigger gap between (a) the importance, multi-layered and fascinating aspects of a news story and (b) the mainstream media’s weirdly steadfast avoidance of it than the Jeffrey Epstein saga.”

The media has largely avoided this story, while the media remains intertwined with it. It was less than 10 years ago that Jeffrey Epstein was sitting down for dinner with some famous houseguests, a short 18 months after he was released from jail after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of solicitation of prostitution with a minor. ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos was there. Former NBC and CBS anchor Katie Couric was there. Former E! and Netflix host Chelsea Handler was too. Why were they there? They’ve all said it was the one and only time they met Epstein, and they were unaware of his past.

CNN Host Says He Doesn’t Believe the Polls After Previously Mocking Trump for Criticizing ‘Fake Polls’ (VIDEO)

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said in an interview that he didn’t trust the polling showing Joe Biden ahead of President Donald Trump after previously mocking the president for stating the identical opinion. . .

“Biden is up. Michigan was huge for the president, Trump, in terms of winning, uh has a large number of white working class people that is supposed to be his stronghold,” Cuomo said.

“We’ve seen in the polls, you know, you’re too busy you’re not doing poll analysis, he is losing those white voters,” he continued. “Biden is gaining there most of all. And now Trump has pulled the ads. What do you think is going on with the pandemic politics in Michigan?”

Whitmer said that Michigan was going to be a competitive race despite the sign from the Trump campaign that they were going to devote fewer resources to the key swing state.

“See, I’m with you! I don’t believe the polls!” Cuomo responded.
