American Airlines to Cut 19,000 Jobs When Federal Aid Expires

American Airlines will cut 19,000 employees in October when federal aid that protected those jobs expires and as the coronavirus pandemic continues to devastate travel demand, the carrier said Tuesday.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline, which employed more than 140,000 people in March, is prohibited from laying off workers through Sept. 30 under the terms of a $25 billion federal aid package set aside for carriers to weather the worst of the crisis. But demand has only modestly recovered, presenting a dire scenario for airlines. American said its fourth-quarter capacity will be half of the year-ago level and that international long-haul flights will be just 25% of its 2019 schedule.

“We have come to you many times throughout the pandemic, often with sobering updates on a world none of us could have imagined,” wrote American Airlines CEO Doug Parker and its president, Robert Isom, in a staff note announcing the cuts. “Today is the hardest message we have had to share so far – the announcement of involuntary staffing reductions effective Oct. 1.”

American said it expects to have 40,000 fewer employees in October compared with when the pandemic began, the carrier said. The involuntary cuts include furloughs of 17,500 union workers, including flight attendants, pilots and mechanics, and 1,500 administration and management jobs. NYT Reporter Tries to Cancel Pardoned Black Christian for Supporting Trump at RNC

A New York Times money and politics reporter, Kenneth Vogel, is trying to cancel a pardoned black Christian, Jon Ponder, whose inspirational story of redemption was prominently featured on night two of the Republican National Convention Tuesday, for endorsing the president’s re-election. . .

It’s a good question to the uneducated eye and an even better one for the deceptive media, which knows better but hopes its readers don’t.

While federal tax laws do prohibit 501(c)(3) groups from being used for partisan electioneering, they don’t ban individuals who happen to work at them from having political opinions and making them public. Former President Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea ran the Clinton Foundation with 501(c)(3) nonprofit status for years while campaigning for Hillary Clinton. Just last week, Michelle Obama, who co-chairs the 501(c)(3) group “When We All Vote,” also enjoyed a prime-time speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention last week. New Mexico Police Officer Tells Story at RNC About Adopting Baby of Homeless Drug Addict

By Fox News. Ryan Holets, a New Mexico police officer, voiced his thanks to President Trump during the second night of the Republican National Convention for his declaration of the opioid crisis as a public health emergency.

Holets shared a personal story about how opioids have affected his and his family’s life in a very unique way – he adopted the baby of a woman that he saved who was addicted to opioids.

“I encounter the ravages of addiction every day. But, nothing could prepare me for what I discovered as I approached them. The woman was very pregnant,” Holets explained. “In my shock, I asked her if she knew that she was harming her baby by doing drugs. She crumbled, and burst into tears.”

He explained how as he talked to the woman named Crystal, she expressed how she wanted the best for her unborn child. And Holets described the understanding and empathy he felt for her.

“I saw her the way that all of you who know or love an addict see them, as fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends. Human beings full of value and dignity, but robbed of their potential by this disease,” Holets said Tuesday night.

Kansas Democrat Linked to ‘Revenge Porn’ Now Says He’ll Stay in State House Election

A 19-year-old Kansas Democrat running for a seat in the state House — who said Sunday he would drop out of the race after admitting to a “revenge porn” incident when he was in middle school and to harassing others on social media — reversed course Tuesday, saying he plans to stay in the race.

Aaron Coleman wrote that since he announced he was dropping out of the race, “I have heard from many of the people who voted for me urging me not to drop out. They said they did not vote for me expecting that I was a perfect person.”

In June, Coleman acknowledged that when he was 14 he made good on a threat to share a nude photo of a girl after attempting to force her to send him more nude photos. He also admitted to harassing other girls online.

In his statement Tuesday, Coleman further said his withdrawal would have returned the district to the “same corporatist, out-of-touch 7-term incumbent that voters just rejected,” referring to Rep. Stan Frownfelter, who Coleman beat in a primary earlier this month by 14 votes. (Read more from “Kansas Democrat Linked to ‘Revenge Porn’ Now Says He’ll Stay in State House Election” HERE)

WATCH: Did Biden’s Deputy Campaign Manager Accidentally Reveal Why He’s Hiding in His Basement?

By Townhall. Former Vice President Joe Biden has been hiding in his basement for months since the start of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. He’s done a few interviews via Skype and Zoom but he hasn’t made much of an appearance until this past week during the Democratic National Convention. It’s been unclear how his campaign is handling things, like virus precautions. Despite being asked about what they’re doing, the Biden campaign has refused to answer whether or not the former vice president has been tested or came up positive for the Wuhan coronavirus.

Because of that, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked Deputy Campaign Manager Kate Bedingfield what’s taking place.

“On July 28th Joe Biden said he hadn’t been tested for the coronavirus. But this week, your campaign refused on two occasions, to answer the question of whether or not he had been tested,” Stephanopoulos said. “So can you clarify. Has Joe Biden been tested for COVID? Has he had the virus?” . . .

Bedingfield cited the DNC, saying journalists at ABC got firsthand views of the steps the campaign is taking to keep the candidate safe.

“We’ve put in place incredibly strict protocols to ensure that everybody involved, who is around Vice President Biden, who’s around Senator Harris, is undergoing the appropriate testing,” she explained. Trump Aims for Convention Game Change, Planning Patriotic Program and Biden Counterattacks

By Fox News. The Republican National Convention kicking off Monday will be a four-day celebration of President Trump – and a visceral four-day condemnation of Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his party.

Coming off a week during which Democrats used their quadrennial confab to hammer the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and warn that another four years of Trump in the White House would threaten the nation’s democratic foundations, Trump is promising to counter the message with a positive vision of “American greatness.”

Trailing the former vice president in the national public opinion polls – and more importantly also down by single-digit margins in many of the key general election battleground states that will decide the White House contest – Trump is working to create game-changing moments that can alter the long-standing dynamic in the 2020 presidential race.

“Where Joe Biden sees American darkness, I see American greatness,” the president said Friday at a gathering of the Council for National Policy, which is composed of leading Republican donors.

“Four straight days attacking America, as a racist, horrible country that must be redeemed,” Trump said as he painted a portrait of the Democratic gathering as the “darkest, gloomiest” convention. “Joe Biden grimly declared a season of American darkness, but look at what we’ve accomplished, until the plague came in, and look, we’re doing it again.” (Read more from “Trump Aims for Convention Game Change, Planning Patriotic Program and Biden Counterattacks” HERE)

Criminal Justice Activist Donna Hylton, Featured in DNC Video, Was Convicted for Role in Grisly 1985 Murder

Donna Hylton was known as inmate #86G0206 for 27 years.

She was behind bars for her role in the grisly murder and torture of Thomas Vigliarolo, a balding New York businessman found stuffed inside a steamer trunk and left to rot in Harlem. Hylton and six others let him die “in the most heinous circumstances,” the prosecutor said at their trial in 1985. On Thursday, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) hailed Hylton as one of “America’s most impactful community leaders” and asked her to participate in a video reading of the Preamble to the Constitution during a televised portion of the convention.

Her appearance has left some people puzzled and others furious, wondering why the DNC would rally behind a woman who was involved in the brutal rape, torture and murder of a 62-year-old man. . .

One user wrote, “Did anyone notice listed under the DNC’s “America’s most impactful community leaders” was Donna Hylton? She’s a classy 55-year-old woman convicted for the kidnapping, rape, torture and murder of a 62-year-old Long Island real estate broker in 1986.”

Twitter user @Covidhomeschool weighed in: “You are the furthest thing from a Christian. Pretend all you want about loving Jesus. People who torture and murder do not go to heaven. There is no making up for what you did. Yet, you are monitizing [sic] off it! Just shows how you really are not sorry. Hell gates await you!” (Read more from “Criminal Justice Activist Donna Hylton, Featured in Dnc Video, Was Convicted for Role in Grisly 1985 Murder” HERE)

From Wikipedia:

“On March 20, 1985, Donna Hylton and three female accomplices drugged and kidnapped 62-year-old Long Island real estate broker Thomas Vigliarolo at the behest of Louis Miranda, who thought Vigliarolo had cheated him out of $139,000 on a mutual con in which the two allegedly sold shares in New York City condos and pocketed the money. The kidnappers held Vigliarolo prisoner for 15–20 days. During that time, three men and four women, including Hylton, starved, burned, beat, sexually assaulted/raped, and tortured him. On April 5, 1985, with Hylton asleep in the next room, Vigliarolo died of asphyxiation. Three days later, his body was found locked in a trunk in a Manhattan apartment”

Trump Explains ‘Simple’ Difference Between Running Against Clinton and Biden

President Trump talked about the “simple” difference between running against Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton as presidential election rivals.

During an address Friday to the 2020 Council for National Policy Meeting, he claimed Clinton is smarter than Biden but is not as well liked.

“Somebody said, ‘What’s the difference between Clinton and Biden?’ Should I say it? Should I tell you? Well, Clinton is much smarter, but not a likable person. Joe is not nearly as smart, but he is more likable. So, you know, I don’t know. Maybe I’d rather have the smarter person, who cares about personality, right?” the president said to laughs in the room. . .

The president spoke less than a day after Biden delivered his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, which received rave reviews from some political pundits and journalists. For instance, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace said that Biden’s speech “blew a hole” in the Trump campaign’s claims that the former vice president is frail or senile. Biden Accused of Plagiarism in DNC Acceptance Speech

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has been accused of plagiarizing a part of his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention. . .

Several Canadians took to Twitter calling foul during the broadcast of Biden’s speech Thursday night, accusing Biden of lifting the words of departed liberal Canadian politician Jack Layton, who passed away in 2011.

CBS News Washington correspondent Alexander Panetta noted, “A number of Canadians are struck by the similar parting words of Biden’s speech to the final words of Jack Layton’s farewell letter before his death.” . . .

In Biden’s speech, he said, “For love is more powerful than hate. Hope is more powerful than fear. Light is more powerful than dark. This is our moment. This is our mission.”

Layton’s quote read, “My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.” (Read more from “Biden Accused of Plagiarism in DNC Acceptance Speech” HERE)

WATCH: Republican National Convention Night One

By Breitbart. . .Tonight’s theme is “Land of Promise.”

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) says 2020 has tested our nation in ways we haven’t seen in decades after talking about the Coronavirus, George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor.

Scott talks about his life story about how he lived with his mom and his grandmother in a two-bedroom home after his parents divorced. He said he thought he had to use football to succeed and did not concentrate on his academics and failed out. He says even while he was failing the 9th grade, his mom told him, after working 16 hours a day, to shoot for the moon because if you fail you will be among the stars. He tells the story of his mentor, a Chick-fil-A operator John Moniz. . .

Donald Trump Jr. wants to speak about the great American story. He says just a few months ago, we were seeing the American Dream become a reality for more Americans. He blames Joe Biden for calling Trump a racist and a xenophobe for his China travel ban. He says it is madness that Biden is trying to shut down the country. He says Biden’s economic platform seems designed to crush the working man and woman. He rips “Beijing Biden” for supporting NAFTA, TPP. He says China wants Biden to win while Biden wants to bring in more illegal immigrants to take jobs from America citizens. He says this will drive wages down from low-income Americans who were getting wage increases for the first time in modern history. He says Trump’s policies have been like rocket fuel for the economy while Biden, the “Loch Ness Monster of the Swamp” that has been lurking around for decades and sticks his head up every now and then to run for president, wants to take money out of your pocket for Swamp dwellers.

Trump Jr. says both parties used to love America but now Democrats are attacking the basic principles on which the nation was founded.

Parkland Father at GOP Convention: Donald Trump Key to School Safety

By Breitbart. Parkland father Andrew Pollack spoke during the opening night of the Republican National Convention and stressed that President Donald Trump is key to school safety.

Pollack’s daughter Meadow was killed in the February 14, 2018, attack on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that took the lives of 17 innocents.

Speaking at the convention, he stressed that President Trump took school safety seriously from the start.

Pollack said he was invited to the White House after the Parkland attack and that President Trump took the time to listen as Pollack shared his concerns. He heard Pollack talk of how “far-left Democrats in … [the] school district made this shooting possible because they implemented something they called ‘restorative justice.’ This policy — which really just blames teachers for student failures — puts kids and teachers at risk and makes shootings more likely.”

He stressed that President Trump went further than simply listening, he actually “took action.” He did this by doing away with Obama administration guidelines for the “restorative justice” approach and by forming a commission that could suggest solutions.
