Arkansas Wants to Protect Women’s Sports From Biological Males

Arkansas is the latest state to craft legislation to protect female athletes in high school and college from competing against biological men who describe themselves as transgender women.

The announcement follows President Joe Biden’s executive order on Jan. 20 that expanding protections for women under the federal statute Title IX prohibiting discrimination against women because of their biological sex at all schools that receive federal funding would now include men who want to live as women. . .

Local television station KATV reported on the development:

Rutledge said at a news conference Monday that the order hurts female athletes. The drafted legislation, known as the Gender Integrity Reinforcement Legislation For Sports Act, or GIRLS Act, would make it illegal for student-athletes who are identified as male on their birth certificate to play on women’s teams.

A draft of the proposed bill cites chromosomal, hormonal and physiological differences between male and female sexes. If passed, the bill would apply to K-12 schools in Arkansas. It would allow the attorney general to sue any school that violates the bill and ban them from receiving funds from a public source for one year.

American Airlines Pilot Reports Close Encounter With ‘Fast-Moving Cylindrical Object’

The pilot of an American Airlines flight from Cincinnati to Phoenix reported a close encounter with a “long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile” at about 37,000 feet.

The incident involving Flight 2292 occurred Sunday when the Airbus A320 was flying at 406 mph above a remote expanse west of Des Moines, The Drive reported.

Steve Douglass, an experienced radio interceptor, told the outlet’s The War Zone that he heard the pilot’s bizarre transmission while recording from his multiple scanners. . .

“Do you have any targets up here? We just had something go right over the top of us,” he says.

“I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing — moving really fast right over the top of us,” he adds. (Read more from “American Airlines Pilot Reports Close Encounter With ‘Fast-Moving Cylindrical Object’” HERE)

Trump Is Getting Active Again With Endorsements in State GOP Contests

Former President Donald Trump is wading into contests for control of state Republican Party organizations with endorsements this week in Ohio and South Carolina that would help cement his national network of GOP allies.

Trump endorsed Bob Paduchik for Ohio Republican Party chairman in a Wednesday email blast after giving his “complete and total endorsement” Tuesday in a handwritten note to South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Drew McKissick, who is seeking re-election.

“Bob Paduchik is running for Chair of the Republican Party of Ohio. He successfully led my campaign in both 2016 and 2020, having even more success the second time around,” Trump wrote in a message blasted to reporters by Trump’s Save America PAC.

“He is outstanding in every way, and I give him my full and complete endorsement. Bob loves our country and the Great State of Ohio. He will be an outstanding Chairman!” (Read more from “Trump Is Getting Active Again With Endorsements in State GOP Contests” HERE)

Biden Nominee Pushing Tax-Payer Funded Medicaid for Illegal Aliens

A group of House and Senate Republicans is asking President Joe Biden to withdraw his nomination of California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D) to be Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary, citing his support for taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits for illegal aliens.

In a letter to Biden, 11 Senate Republicans and 64 House Republicans — led by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) — are asking Biden to rescind Becerra’s nomination to lead HHS due to his “embrace of radical policies on immigration,” among other issues.

“Mr. Becerra seeks to decriminalize illegal immigration, which would extend expensive government benefits like Medicaid to anyone who illegally crosses our borders,” the letter states. . .

In a report this week, Becerra’s colleagues said he is potentially interested in pursuing policies as HHS Secretary that would expand taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits to illegal aliens.

“… Becerra has repeatedly advocated for undocumented immigrants to have more access to health care and other government benefits, whether through Medicaid or Obamacare,” Politico reported. (Read more from “Biden Nominee Pushing Tax-Payer Funded Medicaid for Illegal Aliens” HERE)

Mother of Capitol Officer Says Media Got Her Son’s Death Wrong, Rejects NYT Fire Extinguisher Story

The Federalist. The mother of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who died one day after the Capitol riots in January, rejected media assertions weaponized by Democrats in their impeachment trial that her son was killed from head trauma by a fire extinguisher.

“He wasn’t hit on the head, no. We think he had a stroke, but we don’t know anything for sure,” Gladys Sicknick told the Daily Mail in an interview published Tuesday. “We’d love to know what happened.”

The false narrative first came from the New York Times, which headlined an article, “Capitol Police Officer Dies From Injuries in Pro-Trump Rampage,” published on Jan. 8, two days after the riot. . .

Subsequent reporting, however, shed doubt on the paper’s claim, which resulted in only a quiet correction more than a month later — once the Senate impeachment trial began to wrap up. . .

Medical examiners told CNN in a story published on Feb. 2 that they failed to find signs that Officer Sicknick “sustained any blunt force trauma,” let alone by a fire extinguisher. ProPublica cast doubt on the fire extinguisher story much sooner, publishing comments from Sicknick’s brother, Ken, on Jan. 8. Ken said his brother texted the family hours after the attack that he had been pepper-sprayed but was doing fine. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick’s Mother: ‘He Wasn’t Hit on the Head’ on Jan. 6

By The Epoch Times. The mother of Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick said her son was not beaten with a fire extinguisher by a mob on Jan. 6, saying he likely suffered a stroke instead—refuting reports from the New York Times and other outlets claiming otherwise. . .

Sicknick’s brother also disputed the reports about his death in early January. “[Officer Sicknick] texted me last night and said, ‘I got pepper-sprayed twice,’ and he was in good shape,” his brother, Ken Sicknick, said to news outlets last month, appearing to dispute key details of the original NY Times report. . .

Meanwhile, there have been no arrests related to the slain officer’s death, and officials have not released details about a potential suspect. And while the breach was captured via live-streaming video, there is no footage that surfaced of demonstrators hitting Sicknick with a fire extinguisher.

An official Capitol Police statement said that “officer Brian D. Sicknick passed away due to injuries sustained while on duty,” continuing to say, “Officer Sicknick was responding to the riots on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the US Capitol and was injured while physically engaging with protesters. He returned to his division office and collapsed. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.” (Read more from “Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick’s Mother: ‘He Wasn’t Hit on the Head’ on Jan. 6” HERE)

Trump Appeals Suspension to Rejoin Facebook, Instagram

Former President Donald Trump has submitted a statement of appeal to an oversight board funded by Facebook in a bid to rejoin the platform. The decision is expected to take around two and a half months.

Former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, who is a co-chair of the oversight board, told UK’s Channel 4 News that they are currently looking into the appeal concerning Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. The board was set up to be an independent group to hear users’ appeals and is comprised of 19 former politicians, journalists, and academics.

“It’s a very high profile case but that is exactly why the Oversight Board was created in the first place,” Thorning-Schmidt said.

In a statement to The Epoch Times, the board confirmed that “a user statement has been received in the case before the Oversight Board concerning President Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.” (Read more from “Trump Appeals Suspension to Rejoin Facebook, Instagram” HERE)

Lawmakers Demand Investigation of NIH ‘Secretively’ Funneling Tax Dollars to Notorious Wuhan Lab

A letter sent Tuesday from members of Congress to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Christi Grimm is demanding a “prompt and thorough investigation” into the National Institutes of Health’s relationship with the Chinese Communist Party-run Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The 28 congressional signers, led by Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., write:

The NIH, unfortunately, has played a major role in supporting [the Wuhan Institute of Virology] and this treacherous research and the promotion of spurious claims dismissing the NIH-funded lab’s potential role in the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology is suspected by experts, including the U.S. State Department, to have caused the COVID-19 pandemic through an accidental lab leak.

Lawmakers write that the NIH and Pentagon are responsible for “secretively” funneling tax dollars to the Wuhan research lab through the U.S.-based nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance. The Wuhan Institute of Virology has already received $600,000 in U.S. taxpayer funds between 2014 and 2019 to study bat-based coronaviruses through EcoHealth Alliance, and the lab is still authorized to receive U.S. tax dollars for animal experiments until 2024. Report: Biden Officials ‘Colluded’ With Iran Behind Trump’s Back During His Presidency

Members of the Biden administration, including former Secretary of State John Kerry and current special envoy on Iran policy Robert Malley, held backchannel meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif during Trump’s presidency in attempt to undermine the Republican president, according to a new report from the Washington Times.

The meetings were reportedly part of a counter-diplomacy effort by the former Obama-era officials — who now serve in the Biden administration — which “allowed for the Iranian regime to bypass Trump and work directly with Obama administration veterans that Tehran hoped would soon return to power in Washington,” according to several unnamed national security and intelligence sources.

One former senior U.S. official told the Times that the “underlying goal” of the meetings was “to devise a political strategy to undermine the Trump administration” and set the stage for a more accommodating U.S. stance towards Iran in anticipation of Obama-era officials returning to power.

The meetings reportedly occurred between 2017 and 2019. One of the meetings, between Zarif and Malley, took place after former President Trump withdrew from the Iran deal, which was signed during Obama’s presidency. House Takes First Step in Contested Election Review That May Result in Republican Being Unseated

The Democrat-controlled House took the first steps last week of adjudicating a contested House seat that may result in a Republican lawmaker being replaced by her Democratic challenger. . .

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R) was declared the winner of Iowa’s second congressional district over Democratic challenger Rita Hart last November by just six votes — 196,964 to 196,958.

After Iowa certified Miller-Meeks’ win, Hart appealed to the House by filing a Notice of Contest. Hart’s campaign alleged that “the Miller-Meeks campaign has sought to keep legitimate votes from being counted — pushing to disqualify and limit the number of Iowans whose votes are counted,” the Iowa City Press-Citizen reported.

Hart claims there are 22 “legally-cast, uncounted votes” from her election — and, of course, she alleges that if those votes are counted, she would be the rightful winner of the contest.

Lawyers for Hart’s campaign allege the Democrat would have won the race by just nine votes had the 22 votes not been excluded. (Read more from “House Takes First Step in Contested Election Review That May Result in Republican Being Unseated” HERE)

Cherokee Nation to Jeep: It’s Time to Rename Your Cars

Jeep is now dodging tomahawks from Native American groups because they make this car called the ‘Cherokee.’ Maybe you’ve heard of it (sarc), but if you’re an owner of one—you’re a terrible racist or something. Okay, maybe not that far, but one of the flagship designs for Jeep is being asked to cease all production of its Cherokee line or at least change its name (via The Hill):

Jeep has sold SUVs under the Cherokee name for decades, with the Jeep Grand Cherokee currently the brand’s bestselling model and the Jeep Cherokee its third bestseller. The original Jeep Cherokee was first introduced in 1974.

But now as some companies and sports teams have recently stopped using names and logos depicting ethnic stereotypes and caricatures, the principal chief of the Cherokee Nation said it’s time for Jeep to part ways with the tribe’s name.

“I think we’re in a day and age in this country where it’s time for both corporations and team sports to retire the use of Native American names, images and mascots from their products, team jerseys and sports in general, Chuck Hoskin Jr., principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, told Car and Driver.
