Postal Worker Refused Accommodation by Employer to Not Work on Sabbath, Fired

An appeal has been filed with the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals by a former United States Postal Worker who lost his job when he resisted orders that would force him to work on his Sabbath, Sundays.

Officials with First Liberty Institute say the appeal was filed in the case involve Gerald E. Groff, who had held a USPS position in Pennsylvania for nearly a decade.

“It is unlawful for employers to discriminate against employees on the basis of religion,” said Hiram Sasser, of First Liberty. “The USPS should have recognized Gerald’s sincerely held belief that he must observe the Sunday Sabbath and granted him a religious exemption. We must protect the rights of every American to practice their faith without fear of losing their job.” . . .

Groff had started working at the Quarryville Post Office in Lancaster County in 2012, and was a Rural Carrier Associate.

He asked for a religious accommodation to observe Sunday Sabbath and it was granted. (Read more from “Postal Worker Refused Accommodation by Employer to Not Work on Sabbath, Fired” HERE)

Biden DOJ Says Trump’s Tax Returns Can Be Turned Over to Congress

The Department of Justice on Friday said former President Trump’s tax returns must be released by the IRS to the House Ways and Means Committee.

The DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel said the committee – which first requested the returns over two years ago – showed “sufficient reasons” to validate its bid to review the former president’s taxes.

“The Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee has invoked sufficient reasons for requesting the former President’s tax information,” Dawn Johnsen, acting assistant attorney general wrote in an opinion Friday. “Under section 6103(f)(1), Treasury must furnish the information to the Committee.”

The Office of Legal Counsel argued that when a congressional committee requests access to a president’s tax returns, “the executive branch should conclude that the request lacks a legitimate legislative purpose only in exceptional circumstances.”

The opinion by the DOJ is a reversal of stance from the Trump administration’s 2019 judgment, which alleged the congressional committee lacked legitimate justification for reviewing the tax returns. (Read more from “Biden DOJ Says Trump’s Tax Returns Can Be Turned Over to Congress” HERE)

Hunter Biden Freaks Out Over Criticism of His Art

The son of President Biden has a message to those criticizing his artwork: “F— ’em.”

In an interview with the “Nota Bene” podcast published Thursday, Hunter Biden was asked how he would respond to those going after his art.

“What’s your response to the people who are, you know, coming after like the prices of the work or just, you know, the collectors, I mean, what’s been your response to that?” one of the podcast’s hosts asked him.

“Other than ‘f— ‘em?’ ” Biden jokingly asked. (Read more from “Hunter Biden Freaks Out Over Criticism of His Art” HERE)

DOJ Threatens to Sue to Lock in 2020 Election Chaos; AZ Auditors Complete Third Ballot Recount

By The Federalist. Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Justice issued two “guidance documents” purportedly “to ensure states fully comply with federal laws regarding election.” Those documents, however, really represent the Biden administration’s latest attempt to squelch investigations into potential voting irregularities, silence critics of the 2020 election, and cement forever the free-for-all COVID voting “procedures” implemented last voting cycle.

Wednesday’s guidance came in the form of two documents entitled, respectively, ”Federal Law Constraints on Post-Election ‘Audits’” and “Guidance Concerning Federal Statutes Affecting Methods of Voting.” In the DOJ’s guidance on post-election audits, the Biden administration began with its familiar refrain that “the November 3rd election was the most secure in American history,” and that notwithstanding “automatic recounts or canvasses,” there was no evidence “of either wrongdoing or mistakes that casts any doubt on the outcome of the national election results.”

Yet, as the DOJ put it, there has since been an “unusual second round of examinations” by states looking at “certain ballots, election records, and election systems used to conduct elections in 2020.” Then, with a not-so-veiled threat, the Biden administration rattled off the “federal constraints, which are enforced by the Department of Justice,” on these audits. . .

Among other laws, the federal guidance on post-election audits highlighted Section 301 of the Civil Rights Act of 1960 that “requires state and local election officials to ‘retain and preserve’ all records relating to any ‘act requisite to voting’ for twenty-two months” after the covered election. This mandate, the DOJ explained, means that election records must “be retained either physically by election officials themselves, or under their direct administrative supervision,” the latter of which requires election officials to have physical access to the records, according to the DOJ.

While not singled out by name, the detail contained in its guidance statements suggest the DOJ has in its sights the Arizona Republicans leading the probe into Maricopa County voting. Just Monday, the Republican-led Arizona Senate served another subpoena on officials in Maricopa County, seeking its routers and other information necessary for the legislature to complete its audit. AZ Auditors Complete Third Ballot Recount, Ship Materials Back to Maricopa County

By Washington Examiner. Auditors working on the Arizona Senate-led Maricopa County 2020 general election review completed a third and final ballot recount late on Wednesday and prepared materials to return to county custody on Thursday.

The monthslong audit conducted at the Phoenix state fairgrounds since late April will now shift its focus to drafting a comprehensive report based on the results of the election machines and other voting material analyzed during the review. The Maricopa County Elections Department arrived with trucks at the audit site Thursday morning to retrieve the materials. . .

Arizona Senate President Karen Fann, who hired the Florida-based firm Cyber Ninjas to lead the audit, said on July 13 the third recount was necessary because initial audit counts and the number certified by Maricopa County officials did not match. Pacific Tsunami Warnings Lifted After 8.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Alaska

Tsunami warnings were lifted for Alaska and the rest of Pacific after a huge earthquake of 8.2 magnitude struck the seismically active U.S. state in the late hours Wednesday.

In Alaska, small tsunami waves measuring under a foot above tide level were observed in Sand Point, Old Harbor, King Cove, Kodiak, Unalaska and Alitak Bay, according to the US National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC).

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage to property. Several Alaskan coastal communities were evacuated following the quake. Among them was Seward on the Kenai Peninsula, south of Anchorage, where sirens blared and residents were told to move to higher ground.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake, which struck at 10:15 p.m. local time, was at a depth of 35 km (21.7 miles). It struck about 91 km east-southeast of Perryville, about 800 km (500 miles) from Anchorage, Alaska’s biggest city.

Teachers Union President: Schools Might Not Reopen This Fall (VIDEO)

American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten was ripped after hedging on whether or not U.S. schools would reopen in the fall during a Wednesday interview on MSNBC.

While having previously recommended that fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear masks, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reversed guidance following the spread of the new Delta variant of the virus, announcing that vaccinated people should return to wearing masks indoors and suggesting universal masking in schools.

Weingarten called the guidance a “curveball,” before suggesting that school reopenings this fall are not a done deal.

“So the bottom line is, we’re going to keep kids safe, we’re going to keep our members safe, we’re going to try to open up schools, and we’re going to move through this political battlefield,” Weingarten said.

Critics picked up on her comment about the reopening of schools because it sounded like backpedaling from when she argued in May that “we can and we must reopen schools in the fall.”

Banks: This is What Pelosi Doesn’t Want America to Know About Security Breakdown on January 6

. . .Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks, who was kicked off of the January 6th commission by Pelosi last week, is giving voice to Capitol Police Officers who want to adequately protect members of Congress in the future by thoroughly investigating past failures.

“The police response to January 6th represents a disastrous collapse of leadership that was not simply an aberration confirmed to one day. It was months and years in the making. To fully understand why our officers felt so abandoned, requires an understanding of how they came to be left uninformed and lacking in defenses when it mattered most – when an attack on the U.S. Capitol was fully realized,” United States Capitol Police Labor Committee Chairman Gus Papathanasiou released in a statement and highlighted by Banks. “Most importantly, we arrived at that position of vulnerability because the voices of the rank-and-file-officers had been ignored for years. There was no collaboration from Capitol Police leaders with the frontline officer, instead it was a top-down approach that left a void of information and planning. As an officer working that day, I can attest, there was NO plan, and certainly no contingency plans by the Chiefs. That lack of leadership had traffic consequences.”

The Case of Fauci: Why Bureaucrats Need Term Limits More Urgently Than Politicians

Term limits for politicians has been a popular idea with conservatives, libertarians, and even some liberals and progressives (though fewer these days) for some time.

But more important, I would argue, are term limits for the government bureaucracy. . .

All the while, the bureaucracy, aka the deep state, has been reaching new heights (or lows), in essence taking over the country. As, for example, with Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Excessive? Well, who has more power? President Biden? Someone behind Biden whispering in his ear?

Possibly. But whoever it is or they are, they all bow their heads during this endless pandemic to the director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Otherwise, they risk the withering contempt of “he who represents science” with attendant career-ending consequences. Study: COVID Cases Are Increasing in Counties With Higher Vaccination Rates, Declining in Counties With Lower Vaccination Rates

An analysis in California has shown that counties with above-average vaccination rates have higher COVID-19 case totals, which drives a stake through the heart of the propaganda line that the unvaccinated are causing a new wave of cases.

The Bay Area News Group discovered that he counties of Los Angeles, San Diego, Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco have a higher percentage of people who are fully vaccinated than the state average as well as a higher average daily case rate.

Meanwhile, the counties of Modoc, Glenn, Lassen, Del Norte, and San Benito have below average vaccination rates and are seeing a decline in cases. The so-called experts are attempting to make excuses for these findings in order to coerce support for the vaccine regime. Postal Workers Union Fires Back at Biden Over COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

Unions are once again beefing with the man whom they’d falsely thought would be their savior, Democrat President Joe Biden.

This time they’re upset over reports that the president plans to mandate vaccines for all federal employees.

One union, the American Postal Workers Union that represents over 200,000 U.S. Postal Service employees, released a statement Wednesday bluntly stating that it’s not the federal government’s job to force vaccine diktats on people.

“Maintaining the health and safety of our members is of paramount importance. While the APWU leadership continues to encourage postal workers to voluntarily get vaccinated, it is not the role of the federal government to mandate vaccinations for the employees we represent,” the union said.

“Issues related to vaccinations and testing for COVID-19 in the workplace must be negotiated with the APWU. At this time the APWU opposes the mandating of COVID-19 vaccinations in relation to U.S. postal workers,” the union added.
