Shin Bet Arrests 5 Jewish Israelis Suspected of Spying for Iran

The Shin Bet security service has arrested five Jewish Israelis accused of assisting an Iranian operative, who often pretended to be a Jewish man, in gathering intelligence and making connections in Israel, the Shin Bet said Wednesday.

In some cases, the suspects told investigators they were aware that Namdar may have been an Iranian intelligence operative, but continued their communications with him anyway, according to the security service. The five suspects — four women and one man — are all Jewish immigrants from Iran or the descendants of Iranian immigrants. Their names were barred from publication under a court-issued gag order requested by their attorneys.

According to the Shin Bet, the suspects took photographs of strategically significant sites in Israel, including the US Consulate in Tel Aviv; attempted to form relationships with politicians; provided information about security arrangements at different sites; and committed other offenses — all at the direction of the Iranian operative, who went by the name Rambod Namdar, in exchange for thousands of dollars. . .

The investigation and resulting indictments shed light on the rare and little-discussed phenomenon of Jews from Iran traveling to Israel to visit family. In one case, such a trip — by one of the suspects’ nieces — was used to transport funds from Iran to Israel in order to pay the Israelis working for Namdar, according to the charge sheet. Prince Andrew will almost certainly be asked about his private parts in his sex-assault lawsuit — and his accuser’s attorneys will likely try to depose Queen Elizabeth II, according to a lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein victims.

The 61-year-old UK royal will be called on to give a deposition under oath after failing Wednesday in his bid to toss the lawsuit filed by longtime accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre — leaving nothing off the table.

“It is without question the Duke will be asked about his private parts,” Spencer Kuvin, an attorney for several Epstein victims, told the Mirror.

“Nothing is off limits, because if an underage girl can describe what the Duke of York’s private parts look like … how would that be if they had not had a relationship?” Kuvin asked.

Andrew would not have to fly to the US — where authorities have long wanted to quiz him on what he knew about pedophile pal Epstein — but would be questioned “under oath, under penalty of perjury of US law” by Giuffre’s legal team, Kuvin said. Russian Diplomat Makes Threat of War Explicit After ‘Dead-End’ Talks

A senior Russian envoy made an overt threat of war if U.S. and Western European leaders continue to resist Moscow’s demands for a practical contraction of NATO.

“Russia is a peace-loving country, but we do not need peace at any cost,” Ambassador Alexander Lukashevich said Thursday.

That threat marked a break in character from much of Moscow’s messaging, as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government has insisted that the military forces deployed near Ukraine’s borders do not represent a threat to Ukraine. Lukashevich’s statement was part of a flurry of Russian statements expressing dissatisfaction with the United States following a pair of meetings in which U.S. and NATO officials proposed to start risk reduction talks but rejected Russia’s demand that the alliance return to its 1997 borders.

“We are not going to entertain spheres of influence,” Ambassador Michael Carpenter told reporters following the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe meeting in which Lukashevich aired that threat. “We’re not going to entertain restrictions on the right of nations to choose their own alliances. We’re not going to entertain privileging the security requirements of one state over another.”

U.S. and European officials broadcast that position for weeks prior to the meetings this week in Geneva and Brussels. Russia’s demand struck officials from NATO member states as so extreme that some surmised Putin designed the offer to be rejected in order to create a “pretext for war.” Russian officials heard the refusal in person on Wednesday during a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council, and that experience gave way to more explicit threats. Sex Assault Suspect Who Faked His Own Death Found Alive — Barely — Across the Atlantic

A Rhode Island man who faked his own death to evade sex assault and fraud charges has been found alive in Scotland, reports said.

Nicholas Alahverdian, who also goes by the last name Rossi, supposedly died at age 32 in February 2020 from non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but turned up last month at a Glasgow hospital, where he was on a ventilator for COVID-19, the Providence Journal reported Wednesday.

Hospital staffers only learned that Alahverdian, who was living under the name Arthur Knight, was wanted by Interpol when authorities turned up last month at the infirmary and arrested him, the Scottish Sun reported.

The fugitive was on the run from criminal charges in Utah and Ohio, and faked his death so he could avoid prosecution, the Utah County Attorney’s Office told the Providence Journal.

“He has been taken into custody and the Utah County Attorney’s Office is working with federal and international agencies to extradite Mr. Rossi back to Utah,” the agency said in a statement. Marine Researcher: COVID Virus Made in Chinese Lab as Bat Vaccine

A Marine Corps officer working with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency disclosed in a memorandum last August that his study of the virus behind the COVID-19 pandemic concluded that it was produced as part of vaccine research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, according to documents made public by a conservative investigative group.

Maj. Joseph P. Murphy notified the Pentagon inspector general that his analysis of the virus origin concluded the nongovernment organization EcoHealth Alliance, the National Institutes of Health, and the Wuhan Institute of Virology produced the virus known as SARS-CoV-2 through controversial gain-of-function research outlined in a Pentagon grant proposal.

“SARS-CoV-2 is an American-created recombinant bat vaccine, or its precursor virus,” Maj. Murphy stated in an August 13, 2021, memo made public this week by Project Veritas. “It was created by an EcoHealth Alliance program at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), as suggested by the reporting surrounding the lab leak hypothesis.”

Asked about the 24 pages of internal documents made public by Project Veritas, DARPA spokesman Jared Adams told Inside the Ring in an email that federal regulations prohibit the agency from commenting on DARPA programs or documents. Biden’s Approval Rating Craters to Shocking New Low

By Daily Caller. President Joe Biden’s approval rating continues to drop as voters grow increasingly dissatisfied with his handling of key issues, according to the results of a new poll.

Biden’s approval rating dropped to a new low of 33%, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday, with 53% of Americans saying they disapprove of the president’s performance. The rating is down 3% since November 2021, when Biden held a 36% approval rating.

Hispanic voters were least supportive of Biden’s job performance, with 28% saying they approve of how he is handling his duties, compared to 32% of white voters and 57% of black voters. Just 25% of independent voters said they approve of Biden’s performance, while 57% said they disapprove.

Voters were critical of Biden’s handling of key issues, including the economy, the COVID-19 pandemic and foreign policy.

Just 34% of Americans said they approve of Biden’s handling of the economy, with 57% saying they disapprove. The results follow several months of increasing inflation, with the Consumer Price Index currently rising at its highest rate in 40 years. New Poll Shows Biden Approval Absolutely Collapsing

By Townhall. The latest survey from Quinnipiac has more bad news for President Joe Biden as he nears the one-year mark of his administration: just one-third of Americans approve of the job he’s done so far.

The survey found that “Americans give President Joe Biden a negative 33 – 53 percent job approval rating,” translated by Quinnipiac to mean “A rocky start for President Biden gets him low grades on his year one report card.”

Broken down by party affiliation, the disapproval vs approval is more of what observers have come to expect:

Republicans: 95 to 2 percent
Democrats: 14 to 75 percent
Independents: 57 to 25 percent

Notching such low levels of approval “is as bad as it gets,” noted Josh Kraushaar.

During a Wednesday appearance on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) sounded off on his ongoing bout with Dr. Anthony Fauci over the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Paul, coming off a recent spat with Fauci at a Senate hearing, described the doctor as a “menace.” He added that Fauci has made their public dispute over the pandemic “very personal.” . . .

“Well, the thing is, he has made it very personal,” Paul replied. “He’s taking his office, he makes over $400,000 a year, to go after specific scientists, denigrate them, smear them, call them fringe. U.S. Judge Offers Choice to Man Convicted of Sexual Assault: Join the Military or Go to Jail

A Kentucky judge recently offered a man convicted of sexual assault an unusual choice: Enlist in the military or serve prison time.

Brandon Scott Price, 28, a former Franklin County Regional Jail guard, was found guilty of second-degree sexual assault, a Class A misdemeanor, earlier this month. On account of his crime, Price received a 12-month prison sentence with two years of probation — with one strange caveat.

Circuit Judge Thomas Wingate informed Price during his sentencing that he could have his jail time waived if he decided to join the U.S. military, according to the State Journal.

“If you don’t enroll in 30 days, you can report to the Franklin County Regional Jail,” Wingate said. “You are under the gun, young man. You gotta do it.”

The outlet noted that Price was initially charged with third-degree sodomy, a Class D felony, but had his charges reduced. The former jail guard was convicted of sexually assaulting a female inmate in January 2019 after transporting her to the hospital. Woke Lesson at Public High School Told Students They’re Privileged if They’re Christian, Straight, or Male

A California school district reportedly went into damage control mode after the Daily Signal called it out for lessons that told high school students they are the beneficiaries of privilege if they are Christian, male, or straight.

The Desert Sands Unified School District in La Quinta, which is in Riverside County, said it was taking “corrective” measures after the lessons came to light, the outlet said.

“The lesson was not in alignment with the district-adopted curriculum” and “actions are being taken to rectify the situation,” the district told the Daily Signal in a statement, adding that “the teacher was operating outside the scope of [the] adopted curriculum and had potentially presented a biased position. Corrective action is underway.”

The outlet said it hasn’t been able to identify which teacher used the lesson.
