Report: China’s True COVID-19 Death Toll 366 Times Higher Than Official Figure

The Chinese regime has likely understated the COVID-19 death rate by as much as 17,000 percent in a systematic data suppression campaign to sustain its political image, according to a U.S. analyst.

That would put the number of COVID-19 deaths in China at around 1.7 million rather than 4,636, the two-year cumulative death figure that the Chinese authorities have maintained on the books. That’s 366 times the official figure.

Those findings made by George Calhoun, director of the quantitative finance program at Stevens Institute of Technology, were based on data as of January generated by a model developed by The Economist.

A vast majority of China’s officially recorded deaths came from Wuhan during the first three months of the pandemic, with only hundreds more reported in the rest of the country.

The Chinese regime only reported two additional deaths since April 1, 2020, ranking China as having the world’s lowest COVID-19 death rate, which Zhong Nanshan, the Chinese epidemiologist overseeing China’s outbreak response, boasted about just last week. Election Overhaul in Alaska Aimed at Reducing Partisanship

As partisan warfare has become the norm in state legislatures and Congress, Alaska is set to embark on an experiment to see if voters themselves can disarm the combatants.

A new election system, narrowly passed by voters in 2020 and set to be used in this year’s races, is aimed at getting candidates to appeal to a broad range of voters beyond their traditional base. The system would end party primaries and send the top four vote-getters, regardless of party affiliation, to the general election, where ranked-choice voting would determine a winner.

The model is unique among states and viewed by supporters as a way to encourage civility and cooperation among elected officials. A sponsor of the initiative, Republican-turned-independent former state lawmaker Jason Grenn, called Alaska a test case “in a major way” for similar efforts being considered in other states, including Nevada. Religious Exemptions for Military Vaccine Mandate Hard to Come By

The Marine Corps granted two religious exemption requests for the coronavirus vaccine, the service announced Thursday, marking the first time any such accommodation was affirmed despite thousands of requests.

Religious exemptions are hard to come by in the military. This is the first the Marines have granted in at least a decade, according to the Military Times. The lack of such accommodations as it relates to the coronavirus has also become a source of political division, a microcosm of the perpetual debate regarding whether mandating the vaccine comports with people’s First Amendment rights.

Even though each service branch has reached the mid-90th percentile in vaccination rate among active-duty troops, the select few who have refused, a count that is approximately in the tens of thousands, are finding allies on the political right.

Dozens of Republican lawmakers and the America First Policy Institute, a policy group backed by former President Donald Trump, filed an amicus brief in support of a group of roughly three dozen Navy SEALs who successfully sued the Department of Defense alleging that their religious exemption requests were not legitimately considered before getting rejected.

During Thursday’s press briefing, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby again declined to outline DOD’s next steps related to the judge’s decision. (Read more from “Religious Exemptions for Military Vaccine Mandate Hard to Come By” HERE)

FBI Identifies Texas Synagogue Hostage-Taker

The FBI identified the man who took four people hostage in the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue as Malik Faisal Akram — a British national. All of the hostages were unharmed in the standoff that lasted nearly 12 hours on Saturday.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSarno identified 44-year-old Malik Faisal Akram, a British national, as the man who took four men hostage Saturday morning in Colleyville, Texas, according to a report from CBSDFW on Sunday.

In a written statement, the FBI indicated that no other person appears to have been involved in the hostage-taking incident at the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue. Akram released one of the four men held hostage at about 5 p.m. on Saturday. The remaining three hostages fled from the building approximately four hours later.

Video captured by WFAA photographer Josh Stephen showed three men who appear to be the remaining hostages running out a door of the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue at about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday. Two men rushed out the door first, followed shortly by a third.

A few seconds later, a man believed to be the hostage-taker is seen stepping outside the door with a pistol in his hand. He quickly returns back into the building. (Read more from “FBI Identifies Texas Synagogue Hostage-Taker” HERE)

Rising Inflation Adds Pain to Student Loan Debt

Student loan borrowers will face a serious squeeze this spring when a federal moratorium on their debt payments expires amid surging inflation.

Tens of millions of Americans are bracing to resume paying their student loans for the first time since March 2020, after the fastest annual rise in consumer prices since 1982.

The costs of food, housing and other essential goods are rising while millions of Americans feel the crushing weight of student debt.

“Right now, people’s budgets are already being squeezed by rising food and heating costs. To suddenly hit people with a student loan payment averaging $400 a month would be a severe double-whammy,” said Thomas Gokey, an organizer with the Debt Collective.

Consumer prices increased 7 percent in December from the same month the previous year, which marks the fastest annual increase in prices in almost 40 years. High inflation is a huge political challenge for President Biden and Democrats going into the midterm elections, and advocates have warned that the lack of action to forgive student loan debt will also follow them on the trail. Nancy Pelosi’s Kid Linked to Firms Probed by Feds

Paul Pelosi Jr., the son of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has reportedly been linked to at least five business entities under investigation by authorities for alleged fraud.

The 52-year-old Paul Pelsoi Jr., the only son of Nancy and Paul Pelosi Sr., was hired by several firms that were subject to both federal and state probes, and meanwhile has “connections to a host of fraudsters, rule-breakers and convicted criminals,” although he has never been charged himself, according to DailyMail.com.

The website reports that in February 2007, Pelosi Jr. was hired as senior vice president by Omaha-based InfoUSA, a database marketing company that was investigated by the Iowa Attorney General’s Office several years earlier for allegedly selling consumer data to fraudsters.

The data was then used to scam sick and gullible elderly people out of money, it was alleged. The investigation was closed and no arrests were made. Pelosi Jr., who was paid a salary of $180,000 per year, joined the firm after the probe ended.

InfoUSA was founded by Vin Gupta, a major donor to former President Bill Clinton. The Associated Press reported that Gupta and his company were investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2007. (Read more from “Nancy Pelosi’s Kid Linked to Firms Probed by Feds” HERE)

GOP Sen. To Push ‘FAUCI’ Act After Top Doc Calls Him ‘Moron’

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) is hoping a hot-mic moment with Dr. Anthony Fauci earlier this week leads to a groundswell of support for his bill that would force the publication of White House officials’ financial records.

The bill, formally titled the Financial Accountability for Uniquely Compensated Individuals (FAUCI) Act, would also require the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) to publish a list of government officials whose financial disclosures are not publicly available, according to multiple outlets.

Marshall clashed with the White House chief medical adviser during a Senate hearing Tuesday after the senator asked Fauci: “Would you be willing to submit to Congress and the public a financial disclosure that includes your past and current investments?”

“My financial disclosure is public knowledge and has been so for the last 37 years or so,” said Fauci, who later called Marshall “so misinformed, it’s extraordinary.”

“We cannot find them. Our office cannot find them. Where would they be if they are public knowledge?” Marshall asked. (Read more from “GOP Sen. To Push ‘FAUCI’ Act After Top Doc Calls Him ‘Moron'” HERE)

Police Searching for N95 Mask-Wearing Man for Alleged Stabbing

A 24-year-old woman was killed in the 300 block of North La Brea Avenue in Hancock Park Thursday afternoon, police said.

The woman, identified by the Los Angeles Police Department at the scene as Brianna Kupfer, died at the scene of the fatal assault.

A LinkedIn profile for Kupfer identifies her as a design consultant for Croft House, a furniture business located on that block.

Lopez did not provide any suspect information, but surveillance video shows what appears to be a tall, slender man wearing black clothes and a white N95 mask walking away from the scene.

Investigators believe the man came into the store while Kupfer was alone. (Read more from “Police Searching for N95 Mask-Wearing Man for Alleged Stabbing” HERE)

Facebook Facing $3.2 Billion Class Action Lawsuit

Facebook (now called Meta) is facing a $3.2 billion lawsuit over the alleged exploitation of its UK users. One expert involved in the lawsuit said: “They are exploiting users by taking their personal data without properly compensating them for taking that data. I don’t think the users are entirely clear when they click on the terms and conditions how unfair that deal is.”

Engadget reports that Facebook (now Meta) is facing a major court case as a legal expert has begun work with a litigation firm to sue the company on behalf of 44 million Facebook users in the United Kingdom. The class-action lawsuit alleges that UK users had their data exploited in violation of competition laws.

The lawsuit is seeking £2.3 billion ($3.2 billion) in damages for UK Facebook users. The suit was filed by Dr. Liza Lovdahl Gormsen who specialized in competition law. The law firm Innsworth which takes on cases in exchange for a share of damages won is funding the case.

The lawsuit alleges that although users do not pay to use Facebook, the information that they provide the social media platform with is valuable. Lovdahl Gormsen said in a statement: “They are exploiting users by taking their personal data without properly compensating them for taking that data. I don’t think the users are entirely clear when they click on the terms and conditions how unfair that deal is.” (Read more from “Facebook Facing $3.2 Billion Class Action Lawsuit” HERE)

Bidenflation Sends a Stumbling, Bumbling Biden Desperately Searching for Distractions

Even as President Joe Biden was spewing deplorable falsehoods about his political opponents in Atlanta, the chickens of his administration’s economy were coming home to roost. Wednesday’s Bureau of Labor Statistics report on inflation, revealing last month’s 7% inflation rate, sets yet another 40-year record, harkening back to the bad old days of double-digit interest rates and Paul Volcker’s bitter medicine for the economy of the early 1980s.

With this week’s report, it is clear that the Biden economy is in an inflation crisis. It is a crisis that neither Biden nor his useless Twitter-addicted senior staff has any clue how to fix. But they have all kinds of ideas about how to make it even worse. . .

But even as Biden tries his 79-year-old best to sound like his heart is in it, his rhetoric practically glows from its insincerity. It is hard to believe that a president proving to be such a disappointment in so many areas — foreign policy, immigration, the pandemic, the supply crisis, and the economy — is now attempting a massive power grab in the Senate so he can rig elections in his party’s favor and do even more damage to the economy through inflationary spending with the barest of legislative majorities.

Fortunately, Biden does not even have simple-majority support for this endeavor nor the full backing of his own party. This makes his push to destroy all the checks and balances on his power within the Senate even more absurd and needlessly divisive than it is.
