Hunter Biden’s Laptop Scandal Exposes How Communist Influence Operations Work

Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop revealed much information, including Hunter’s shady business dealings in Ukraine and China, raising questions about the extent to which President Biden was involved in his son’s business activities. This ongoing scandal lifted the curtain of foreign governments’ covert influence campaigns in the United States. No government has conducted such influence campaigns more effectively than Communist China.

To understand China’s influence campaigns on foreign soil, one has to get familiar with a secretive Chinese government agency, the United Front Work Department (UFWD), or United Front. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) established UFWD in the 1930s, aiming to recruit famous intellectuals, writers, teachers, students, publishers, and business leaders who were not necessarily Communists.

These recruits promoted the CCP’s agenda, influenced public opinion in favor of the CCP in territory ruled by the Nationalist Party, and helped the CCP secure the weapons, medicine, and other resources to overthrow the Nationalist-led government. Then-CCP leader Mao Zedong called the United Front a “magic weapon” for the CCP.

When Xi Jinping came to power in late 2012, he greatly expanded the UFWD and elevated the UFWD’s status by having a politburo member, Ms. Sun Chunlan, head the UFWD. Today, the UFWD’s headquarters in Beijing is located in an unmarked but heavily guarded building next to the CCP’s leadership compound. This location says the highest power in the nation directly endorses its mission and strategy.

UFWD workers are assigned to many government branches inside and outside China, including almost all Chinese embassies, which now include staff formally working with United Front. The UFWD is tasked with helping the CCP aggressively and yet covertly dictate its messages and narratives about China. UFWD’s goal is to gather information and either win over or co-opt support for the CCP. It is to attack and neutralize potential dissent and opposition inside and outside China. Ninety-four former staff members and students from Colonia High School in Woodbridge, New Jersey, have developed an “extremely” rare form of malignant brain tumor, leading local officials to approve an emergency probe of the school Tuesday.

Radiological assessments will be conducted throughout the school’s 28-acre campus, as well as indoor radon testing, this coming Easter weekend, the New York Post reported.

“There could be a real problem here, and our residents deserve to know if there are any dangers,” Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac said, according to the outlet. “We’re all concerned, and we all want to get to the bottom of this. This is definitely not normal.”

One former student, Al Lupiano, 50, was diagnosed with brain tumors in the 1990s but subsequently recovered, according to NJ.com. Lupiano also lost his younger sister to the disease in February at the age of 44, the outlet continued. Lupiano’s wife was also diagnosed with a brain tumor, the NY Post reported.

All three family members attended Colonia High, the NY Post noted. Lupiano has spearheaded a public push for answers after he started a Facebook group focused on former Colonia students and the rare brain cancer, the outlet noted.

Elon Musk Offers to Buy Twitter; Is the Twitter Board Required to Accept Elon’s Offer?

By CNN. Elon Musk has made an offer to buy Twitter (TWTR) and take it private, saying he believes the company needs to be “transformed.”

According to an SEC filing, Musk has offered to acquire all the shares in Twitter he does not own for $54.20 per share, valuing the company at $41.4 billion. That represents a 38% premium over the closing price on April 1, the last trading day before Musk disclosed that he had become Twitter’s biggest shareholder, and an 18% premium over its closing price Wednesday.

Is the Twitter Board Required to Accept Elon’s Offer?

By Daily Caller. While Twitter is not required to accept Elon Musk’s multibillion dollar offer, the board does hold certain responsibilities to shareholders aimed at maximizing the company’s value, experts and industry leaders told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“The question is whether the board would accept this offer,” Austen Allred, CEO and co-founder of Bloom Institute of Technology, told the DCNF. “They have a fiduciary responsibility to shareholders, so in order to turn it down they’d have to have a plan for how the company could be worth more than what Musk is offering, and they do expose themselves and the company to liability in doing so.”

Musk made an offer Thursday to Twitter to purchase 100% of the company for $43.4 billion, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Tesla chief executive officer previously purchased a 9.2% stake in the technology platform on April 4, making him the company’s largest shareholder. . .

“The conservative thing from the board’s standpoint is to accept the offer or quickly seek out a higher bidder,” Allred added.

The board could reject Musk’s offer or refuse to negotiate even though the Tesla billionaire offered a substantial premium, as long it hasn’t broken its fiduciary responsibilities, Alon Kapen, partner and leader of the Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practice group at Farrell Fritz, told the DCNF. Letter From Jan. 6 Prisoner to Americans ‘Don’t Do Nothing!’

In a letter obtained exclusively by The Epoch Times, a Jan. 6 prisoner asks, “are you ready to light brushfires of Liberty in the souls of men? Then don’t do nothing!” The letter, dated December 30, 2021, is revealed here in its entirety for the first time.

“My name is Jeremy Brown,” the letter begins. “I am a 20-year retired U.S. Army Special Forces Combat Veteran. On January 5th and 6th, 2021 I was in our Nation’s capital as part of an all-volunteer protective detail tasked with providing security for organizers and speakers at a legally permitted political rally. On September 30th, 2021 I was arrested at home in Tampa, Florida by approximately 30 to 40 heavily armed Federal Agents and local law enforcement. They came in full force to serve a misdemeanor arrest warrant for being in an ‘unauthorized area.’ These were no ordinary agents. They were agents working as part of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). Oddly, in the nine months prior to that day, I had never been contacted or questioned by any investigators about this case. Stranger still, the arrest warrant and search warrant had only been granted one day prior. This, despite numerous members of my Protective Detail having been arrested many months prior. While this may sound unusual to you, I know exactly why it happened.”

According to Brown, the same JTTF agents who arrested him on Sept. 30, 2021, had tried to recruit him as a Confidential Informant (CI) on Dec. 9, 2020. Their “pitch,” he said, was intended to gauge his “willingness to infiltrate law-abiding citizen groups that had no criminal history and certainly were not designated “terrorist groups.”

Brown declined their offer. But, having what he calls “a healthy mistrust of Federal law enforcement,” Brown made an audio recording of the exchange, which—after many efforts to delete it from the internet—has been shared and reposted by numerous others, keeping it alive. Biden Considering Sending Top Officials to Ukraine (VIDEO)

President Joe Biden and his aides are deliberating whether he should send a senior administration official or delegation to Ukraine as a show of support amid the Russian invasion.

“We’re making that decision now,” Biden told reporters at Joint Base Andrews Thursday before boarding Air Force One for North Carolina.

A reporter followed up, asking whether Biden himself was “ready to go.” “Yeah,” Biden replied.

California Proposes Ban on Sale of Gas Vehicles by 2035

California regulators unveiled a plan to ban the sale of new gas cars by 2035 on Thursday, the state’s latest effort to combat greenhouse gas emissions.

The plan from the California Air Resources Board calls for 35% of new car sales in the state to be battery or hydrogen-powered by 2026, according to CNBC. The board will vote on the proposal in August.

References to a gay relationship in “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” were edited out of the movie by Warner Bros. for the film’s release in China. Only six seconds of the movie’s 142-minute runtime were removed. Dialogue that was edited out alluded to the romantic past between male characters Dumbledore (Jude Law) and Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen). “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling revealed Dumbledore was gay in 2009, but the movies had never explicitly referenced the character’s sexuality until this third “Fantastic Beasts” entry. Warner Bros. accepted China’s request to remove six seconds from the movie. The dialogue lines “because I was in love with you” and “the summer Gellert and I fell in love” were cut from “The Secrets of Dumbledore” release. The rest of the film remained intact…

“As a studio, we’re committed to safeguarding the integrity of every film we release, and that extends to circumstances that necessitate making nuanced cuts in order to respond sensitively to a variety of in-market factors,” Warner Bros. said in a statement to Variety. “Our hope is to release our features worldwide as released by their creators but historically we have faced small edits made in local markets.” “In the case of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,’ a six-second cut was requested and Warner Bros. accepted those changes to comply with local requirements but the spirit of the film remains intact,” the statement added. “We want audiences everywhere in the world to see and enjoy this film, and it’s important to us that Chinese audiences have the opportunity to experience it as well, even with these minor edits.”

The Florida bill forbids the education of sexual orientation and gender identity in school-aged children from kindergarten to grade three, according to The Florida Senate. Kentucky Legislature Overrides Democrat Governor’s Veto, Passes Abortion Ban

The Republican-led Kentucky State Legislature overrode Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear’s veto on Wednesday and passed a bill that outlaws abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

The law is modeled after Mississippi’s law, which is currently before the Supreme Court and is the greatest challenge in decades to the Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision declaring abortion a protected right under the U.S. Constitution. The Kentucky House voted 76-21, and the Senate voted 31-6 to override Beshear’s veto, and the law will go into effect immediately.

Advocates say the law will “force the state’s two clinics to stop providing abortions immediately,” the Washington Post reported. The new law only allows abortion if a woman’s life is in danger and does not include exceptions for rape or incest. It also limits medication abortion and requires the cremation or burial of fetal remains, the report states.
