Judge Overturns Military Ban on HIV-Positive Troops Getting Commissioned as Officers

A federal judge has struck down the military’s policy of denying commissions to HIV-positive service members in a lawsuit filed in 2018.

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema ruled Wednesday that the Department of Defense must reconsider Nicholas Harrison’s application to become a JAG officer for the D.C. National Guard without taking into account his HIV-positive status. The ruling also applies to “any other asymptomatic HIV-positive service member with an undetectable viral load.” . . .

When asked about the judge’s Wednesday ruling, a spokesman for the Pentagon directed Military.com to the Department of Justice. The Department of Justice did not reply before publication.

The allegation that the military’s HIV regulations, originally developed in the 1980s, are out of touch is not new.

Food Prices Jump Most on Record as War Sparks Supply Chaos

Global food prices are surging at the fastest pace ever as the war in Ukraine chokes crop supplies, piling more inflationary pain on consumers and worsening a global hunger crisis.

The war has wreaked havoc on supply chains in the crucial Black Sea breadbasket region, upending global trade flows and fueling panic about shortages of key staples such as wheat and cooking oils. That’s sent food prices — which were already surging before the conflict started — to a record, with a United Nations’ index of world costs soaring another 13% last month. . .

Ukraine’s ports are closed and many vessels are avoiding the region, which accounts for about a quarter of all grains trade. Farmers in Ukraine, the top sunflower-oil exporter, are expected to drastically cut crop plantings and the nation is struggling to export supplies already harvested. Elsewhere in the world, high energy and fertilizer prices are raising food-production costs, which is feeding through to bigger grocery bills or threatening output. . .

The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization’s gauge of global prices has jumped more than 50% since mid-2020, eclipsing levels seen in 2008 and 2011 that contributed to global food crises. Explosive Pennsylvania Testimony Explains How Leftist Money Infiltrated Election Offices in 2020

The Democrat governor’s office in Pennsylvania colluded with left-wing activists to secure millions of dollars in private money to run get-out-the-vote efforts in blue counties in the swing state in 2020, new, explosive testimony revealed. The Pennsylvania legislature heard this testimony, backed up by email evidence, on Tuesday during the first public hearing on two new bills seeking to block private grants.

Tuesday’s public hearing began with statements by the respective primary sponsors of the bills that seek to ban dark money from elections, with Sen. Lisa Baker speaking in support of Senate Bill 982 and Rep. Eric Nelson encouraging passage of House Bill 2044. Pennsylvania investigative journalist Todd Shepherd then testified at length on the results of his extensive probe into the insertion of private funds into the 2020 election.

With a series of PowerPoint slides, Shepherd revealed to lawmakers that beginning in July 2020, consultants working for leftist organizations coordinated with local election officials and Democrat Gov.Tom Wolf’s office to lobby five blue counties to apply for these private grants. While the grants originated with the nominally non-partisan Center for Tech and Civic Life—an organization that Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s private foundation later infused with some $350 million in cash—emails reveal that a main consultant involved in targeting select counties, Marc Solomon, worked for the Center for Secure and Modern Elections, or the CSME.

“What’s important to know about CSME is that it is not a 501(c)3, but rather it is a fiscally sponsored project of the New Venture Fund,” Shepherd told the Pennsylvania lawmakers. In turn, “the New Venture Fund is managed by Arabella Advisors,” Shepherd continued, noting that “the ‘parent’ group of Arabella, New Venture Fund — they are part of what the Atlantic Magazine identified as ‘The Massive Progressive Dark-Money Group You’ve Never Heard Of.’” In fact, in January, The New York Times called out the New Venture Fund in its article headlined, “Democrats Decried Dark Money. An insane video has surfaced from a battle in Ukraine.

Even though this war has been going on for way more than a month at this point, it’s hard to argue that this video isn’t among the craziest we’ve seen.

It was nothing short of insane. The part where the guy just let his grenade launcher rip is about as close as you’ll get to seeing unreal stuff in combat.

Disney Silent on Reports It Helps Employees’ Kids Get Sex Changes (VIDEO)

The Walt Disney Company is staying silent following reports it helps the children of its employees with sex change procedures through its benefits program.

A leaked video shared by Manhattan Institute senior fellow Christopher Rufo Thursday purportedly showed a Disney internal meeting in which a man explained Disney’s efforts to help employees “express their gender” at the company. Disney has not publicly addressed its efforts to help employees medically transition their children to the opposite sex following the release of the video, and did not respond to multiple requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

He reportedly said employees could work with the company’s benefits team to get information about gender transitions for themselves and their children, according to the video.

“So, you know, coming up with guides on how to change your photo, information about pronouns, working with our benefits team to give information about gender affirmation procedures both for our employees who are transitioning and trans, but also our employees who have kids who are transitioning,” the man in the video reportedly said. Soccer Star Deletes Disney+ After ‘Not-At-All-Secret’ Gay Agenda Is Leaked

Croatian soccer star and UEFA Champions League winner Dejan Lovren announced he and his family decided to cancel their Disney+ subscription after the company’s “Not-At-All-Secret” gay agenda was leaked. UFC veteran Jake Shields similarly blasted Disney’s agenda in a tweet.

The 32-year-old center back made the announcement in a Saturday tweet.

The post featured a picture of the Zenit St. Petersburg player hovering his finger above the cancellation button for his Disney+ subscription.

Lovren also retweeted a post ripping the “agenda” the same day.

The soccer star has featured in both the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cup for Croatia and helped Liverpool F.C. capture both the Champions League and Premier League crowns.

Whitmer Kidnapping Trial Collapses: Two Not Guilty, Two More Walk Free

A jury acquitted two defendants in the Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping trial on Friday but was unable to come to a verdict on the alleged ringleaders of the plot.

The not guilty verdicts are a serious blow to the FBI, which had been accused by defense attorneys of having “conceived and controlled every aspect” of the kidnapping plot through the more than a dozen confidential informants it embedded into the defendants’ group in the summer of 2020.

The jury announced Friday afternoon that it had ruled unanimously to find Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta not guilty on charges of conspiring to kidnap the Democratic Michigan governor in 2020. Harris was also acquitted of charges related to explosives and firearms.

Cries of relief were reportedly heard in the courtroom as the jury read Caserta’s verdict.

China Mocks Nancy Pelosi for Contracting Coronavirus

Chinese state media on Friday gleefully mocked U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for contracting the Wuhan coronavirus, snidely informing Pelosi that she should abandon any plans to visit Taiwan lest she infect the island.

The state-run Global Times approvingly quoted a hashtag on Weibo, China’s heavily-censored version of banned Twitter, that sarcastically advised Pelosi to talk to a doctor about her infection instead of talking to Taiwanese “secessionists”:

The development received high attention on social media, with netizens urging Pelosi to abandon any dangerous plans. “Get well soon, but forget about a Taiwan visit. You won’t want to see the consequences,” said a Weibo user.

”She not only needs to overcome [Chinese coronavirus], but should also seek treatment for the ‘messing up the world’ disease. Many US politicians should see a doctor for that,” another net user said on Sina Weibo.

“Since the US has removed most epidemic restrictions, I bet Omicron is nothing to worry about. The biggest problem is hegemonic mentality embedded in her, and many others’ minds,” said another.

Mad Grandpa: Biden Complains of ‘Vile’ Republican Questions of Ketanji Brown Jackson

President Joe Biden on Friday unleashed criticism against Senate Republicans for asking tough questions about his Supreme Court Justice’s judicial record during her confirmation hearings.

The president said he knew that his Supreme Court nominee would be put through a “painful and difficult” confirmation process, but what he saw from Republican senators was worse than he had expected. . .

“What Judge Jackson was put through was well beyond that,” Biden said angrily. “It was verbal abuse. The anger. The constant interruptions, the most vile, baseless assertions and accusations.”

Biden was referring to Republican questions, such as those from Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), of Jackson’s judicial record, including her choice to reduce sentences for convicts guilty of child pornography. . .

Biden criticized the hearings for Jackson despite his own record of presiding over Senate hearings smearing Justice Clarence Thomas with accusations of sexual assault in his 1991 confirmation hearings.

Sarah Palin Revives Comment She Can ‘See Russia’ From Alaska

Sarah Palin, the former Republican governor of Alaska, is reminding voters that you “can see Russia” from her home state—reviving a remark that drew mockery when she unsuccessfully campaigned as former GOP Presidential candidate Senator John McCain’s vice presidential running mate in 2008. . .

Speaking on former Trump White House official Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast on Thursday, Palin complained about the situation at the southern border and then referred to Alaska’s proximity to Russia.

“When you’re talking about what’s going on at the border—the non-existent border,” Palin said, “that reminds me how important it is, that all Alaskans realize it. Now Alaska is strategically located on the globe—as you know—you don’t laugh about the fact that you can see Russia from Alaska, and Canada is right there on our other side.”
