The [movie’s lesbian] controversy stems from a character named Hawthorne (played by Uzo Aduba), who kisses her wife in a brief scene that depicts milestones in the character’s life. . .

“Lightyear” star Chris Evans has slammed critics of a same-sex kiss in his new movie, calling them “idiots” . . .

Pixar came under fire for removing the kiss after staff members sent an open letter stating that Disney has censored same-sex affection in the past and in reaction to Florida’s controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

The studio later restored the kiss after pressure from its employees continued to mount.

Churchgoers Save Two Girls From Abduction After One Mouths ‘Help Me’

Florida churchgoers helped save two young girls from being abducted after one of the victims mouthed “help me, this is not my dad,” authorities said.

The two girls, both aged under 12, were leaving a restaurant outside Tampa on Sunday night when 37-year-old David Daniels approached them and said he’d “supervise” their walk home, FOX13 reported.

Daniels allegedly started hitting one of the girls over the head multiple times and continued to follow them, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

The girls, who didn’t know Daniels, then jumped on their bikes and rode towards a nearby church to ask for help.

Gay Attorney General Says There Should Be a ‘Drag Queen for Every School’

A Michigan attorney general is facing criticism after she suggested that there should be “a drag queen for every school.”

Attorney General Dana Nessel made the comments during a civil rights summit in Lansing, Michigan, on Wednesday.

Nessel is the first openly gay person voted into statewide office in Michigan.

“Drag queens make everything better. Drag queens are fun,” she is quoted as saying by Detroit News reporter Craig Mauger.

WHO to Rename Monkeypox Because of ‘Racism’

The World Health Organization announced that officials are working to rename the monkeypox virus after a group of scientists called the moniker “discriminatory and stigmatizing.”

“WHO is also working with partners and experts from around the world on changing the name of monkeypox virus, its clades, and the disease it causes,” organization director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a Tuesday media briefing. He said WHO will announce the new name “as soon as possible.”

This is not the first time that health officials have declared a disease name discriminatory. Soon after WHO in early 2020 named the novel coronavirus “COVID-19,” journalists wrote that calling the disease, which originated in China, “the Wuhan virus” or “the China virus” is racist. The Chinese Communist government at the same time launched a propaganda campaign to deny that the disease originated in China, the Washington Free Beacon reported. Biden Announces Expansion of Access to Sex Changes for Children

President Joe Biden will sign a “historic” executive order Wednesday ordering the Department of Health and Human Services to expand efforts to increase the ability of Americans (including children) who identify as transgender to obtain sex-change surgeries.

“President Biden believes that no one should face discrimination because of who they are or whom they love. Since President Biden took office, he has championed the rights of LGBTQI+ Americans and people around the world, accelerating the march towards full equality,” the Biden administration said in a fact sheet issued June 15.

The executive order will address the slew of Republican legislation banning transgender surgeries for minors and biological males from girls’ spaces — legislation dubbed by the Biden administration as “legislative attacks against LGBTQI+ children and families.”

It will also “crack down” on conversion therapy, which the Biden administration describes as “a discredited and dangerous practice that seeks to suppress or change the sexual orientation or gender identity of LGBTQI+ people,” ordering HHS to “explore guidance to clarify that federally-funded programs cannot offer so-called ‘conversion therapy.’”

“Over 300 anti-LGBTQI+ laws have been introduced in state legislatures over the past year, and many of them specifically target transgender children and their parents by banning access to medical care and support at school,” the Biden administration fact sheet said. “President Biden is addressing these harmful, hateful, and discriminatory attacks head-on – not only by speaking up for America’s families, but taking action to stand up to the bullies targeting LGBTQI+ people.” (Read more from “Biden Announces Expansion of Access to Sex Changes for Children” HERE)

Choosing Violence: Arsonists Firebomb Pro-life Legislator’s Office in Latest Attack

Two masked individuals smashed a window and threw a lit flare into Washington state House Rep. Andrew Barkis’ office building in Olympia, Washington, on Monday.

Security footage shows two men approaching the office building before breaking the window with a hammer and throwing a flaming flare into the building, which Barkis owns and is leased by the House Republican Organizational Committee, My Northwest reported. The flare landed on the masonry floor but was unable to light the building on fire.

Multiple pro-life groups have been the target of arson since the leaked draft ruling showing the U.S. Supreme Court is likely to overturn Roe v. Wade was published in May. Barkis, a Washington state House Representative, sponsored a bill in 2021 to protect Down syndrome babies from discriminatory abortions.

As Flooding Ravages Wyoming and Shuts Down Yellowstone, Liz Cheney Is in D.C. Trying to Indict Trump

After heavy rains triggered flooding and rockslides in Yellowstone National Park this week, federal officials shut down Wyoming’s largest tourist destination while the state’s at-large lawmaker remains fixated on an effort to indict former President Donald Trump.

On Monday, the National Park Service announced a full evacuation of the park, which is larger than the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined, and closed its five entrances to visitors. . .

At the same time that Wyoming’s largest attraction shut down, the state’s sole congresswoman, Liz Cheney, was in Washington D.C. conducting the second episode of her beloved Jan. 6 Committee’s Soviet-style show trial to prosecute Trump and his supporters. So far, a single tweet Tuesday afternoon is the extent of Cheney’s public addressing of the flooding that’s shut down her state’s top recreational space which drew 4.9 million visits last year and added more than $444 million to local communities in 2020.

The flooding is “probably the worst thing that’s happened disaster-wise since the fires of ’88,” said Jeff Olson, a resident of Cheney’s adopted hometown, in an interview with Jackson Hole News & Guide. “To have all five entrances closed because of one event during the summer season? It’s crazy.” . . .

The last two press releases from Cheney’s office, however, are each transcripts of her remarks in Monday’s Jan. 6 hearing. Despite the fact that half of her state is under the jurisdiction of the federal government, the Wyoming lawmaker is also no longer on the House Natural Resources Committee, having instead embraced her vendetta against Trump and his supporters as a hallmark of her time in the lower chamber. The Latest Wave of New Firearm Owners Shreds Another Anti-Gun Narrative

First, I’m shocked NBC News would write a story like this about gun owners. Second, it’s about yet another hurdle anti-gunners have to scale when pushing their ‘take all the guns’ initiatives. (via NBC News):

Two days after a white man shot and killed 10 Black people in Buffalo last month, Michael Moody reversed his thinking about possessing a firearm. He had watched the aftermath of the carnage on the news, the anguish of the victims’ families, and decided he “needed a gun. Needed, not wanted,” he said.

Moody’s sentiments represent one reason the sale of guns to Black Americans rose 58 percent in 2020 — the year George Floyd was murdered by a Minnesota police officer, sparking a nationwide social justice movement — according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a firearms trade association. It was the highest bump in gun sales of any ethnic group that year.

Further, in the first quarter of 2021, another NSSF report revealed 90 percent of gun retailers reported a general increase of Black customers, including an 87 percent increase among Black women. . .

The foundation said 40 percent of the overall gun sales in 2020 were to first-time gun purchasers. Black gun owners, old and new, say the rise is a byproduct primarily of a heightened fear they could be targeted like those in Buffalo or at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2015, when nine Black church members were killed by a white supremacist.

Eerie: China Reports Possible Alien Contact — Then Deletes It

State-backed Science and Technology Daily in China reported that scientists found possible signals from aliens but deleted the reporting of the discovery soon after.

According to Chinese scientists, the country’s “Sky Eye” telescope detected what could be evidence of an alien civilization. The large telescope is in China’s southwestern Guizhou province and has a diameter of 1,640 feet.

The now-deleted report said that the scientists found “several cases of possible technological traces and extraterrestrial civilizations from outside the Earth.”

The report cited Zhang Tonjie, 52, who is the chief scientist of an extraterrestrial civilization search team co-founded by Beijing Normal University, the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the University of California, Berkeley.
