A Triumphant Trump Asks for NRA Convention’s Help in Returning to White House

Former President Donald Trump had a hero’s return to the National Rifle Association’s annual convention in Indianapolis as he hit the stage to chants of “USA! USA!”

“I was proud to be the most pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment president you’ve ever had in the White House,” Trump said. “I think that’s been acknowledged, and with your support, in 2024, I will be your loyal friend and fearless champion once again as the 47th president of the United States.”

Trump bragged about his poll numbers and briefly referenced several 2024 presidential rivals, including former Vice President Mike Pence, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, as he spoke before gun rights activists at the event.

Pence and Trump have been at odds since the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The NRA convention is the first time the two men are speaking at the same place. Yet Pence has not announced whether he will run.

Nevertheless, Trump had a few positive words for his former running mate. “I hope you gave Pence a good warm approval,” Trump said as some of the NRA crowd booed Pence. “Because he is a nice man if you want to really know the truth. … He’s a good man.” (Read more from “A Triumphant Trump Asks for NRA Convention’s Help in Returning to White House” HERE)

‘That Is a Fraud’: DeSantis Blasts Trans Swimmer Lia Thomas

Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis took a swipe at male athletes who claim to be transgender “women” by slamming them as “frauds” on Friday.

Speaking at Liberty University, DeSantis took specific aim at transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas. Though he did not use the swimmer’s name, there was no doubt about who DeSantis meant to reference.

“It is wrong to have a swimmer compete for three years on the men’s swim team, switch to the women’s team, and then win the women’s national championship,” DeSantis told his audience, Fox News reported. “That is a fraud. That is wrong.”

The comments perfectly line up with the sudden championship swimming year experienced by Thomas. Born as William Thomas, the athlete was an entirely mediocre swimmer on the UPenn men’s swimming team for three years. But after taking a year off to “transition” to a female, Thomas rejoined the UPenn swimming program on the women’s team and was suddenly the school’s top woman swimmer. Thomas won the 2022 500 freestyle national championship after a season of multiple top times in the sport. (Read more from “‘That Is a Fraud’: DeSantis Blasts Trans Swimmer Lia Thomas” HERE)

Montana Lawmakers Pass Statewide Ban on TikTok, First in Nation

Montana lawmakers voted to pass the first state ban on TikTok, sending the bill to Gov. Greg Gianforte to be signed into law.

Montana’s House of Representatives voted 54-43 on Friday in favor of SB 419, more than a month after the Montana state Senate voted in favor of the bill. SB 419’s passage will make it the most extreme measure lawmakers in the United States have imposed on the China-operated social media app. Gianforte, a Republican, is expected to sign the bill.

The bill would go into effect on Jan. 1, 2024, prohibiting TikTok from operating within Montana’s borders. It will also fine companies providing the app $10,000 per violation for allowing users access to the app.

TikTok will “continue to fight for TikTok users and creators in Montana whose livelihoods and First Amendment rights are threatened by this egregious government overreach,” a spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal. Ivy League Pledges to Recommit Itself to Free Speech After Students Shouted Conservative Pundit off Stage

Cornell University pledged Friday to make freedom of expression a theme of the 2023-2024 academic year, months after students shouted a conservative pundit out of the room, according to a recent announcement.

Ann Coulter, a conservative personality, cut her speech at Cornell short in November 2022 after students repeatedly interrupted the event by shouting, playing circus music and making fart noises, student newspaper the Cornell Review reported. Cornell will host a variety of “scholarly and creative events and activities” to challenge the faculty, staff and student body to “engage” with the concepts of “free expression and academic freedom” throughout the current academic year, the announcement reads.

“It is critical to our mission as a university to think deeply about freedom of expression and the challenges that result from assaults on it, which today come from both ends of the political spectrum,” Pollack said in the announcement. “Learning from difference, learning to engage with difference and learning to communicate across difference are key parts of a Cornell education. Free expression and academic freedom are the bedrock not just of the university, but of democracy.”

Activities will include reading groups, debates and exhibitions focused on free expression, according to the announcement. The university will launch a website outlining the different events as well as its goals before the start of the Fall 2023 semester. Popular Conservative Talk Show Host Will ‘Likely’ Announce 2024 Presidential Bid ‘Soon,’ Close Friend Says

Conservative talk show host and former Republican California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder will “likely” announce a run for president in 2024 “soon,” a close friend of Elder’s told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Elder, host of “The Larry Elder Show,” who previously indicated he would launch a run for the GOP nomination by the end of March or early April, can be expected to announce a campaign by the end of the month, Tom Tradup, a close friend of Elder and vice president of SALEM Radio Network, told the DCNF in an interview. Elder launched into the national spotlight when he ran as a Republican for California’s 2021 general election recall to remove Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom from office.

The conservative host will likely run on restoring traditional values in America, and will capitalize on his often used slogan, “we’ve got a country to save,” according to Tradup.

“If he makes a decision to run, it’s because he truly does want to help this country move forward,” said Tradup. “[Americans] are tired of having word-processed, overly lawyered campaign statements that they run through the deflavorizor so that they won’t offend anybody. What you end up with is these candidates running who don’t stand for anything.”

Elder has made recent trips to key early primary state Iowa and has a political action committee, Elder For America, that continues to rake in donations nationwide, said Tradup. The PAC raised nearly $1.7 million in 2022, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Mike Pompeo Announces Decision On 2024 Presidential Run

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Friday afternoon that he will not be launching a campaign for president in 2024 after carefully considering the matter.

“It is simplest and most accurate to say that this decision is personal,” Pompeo said in a statement. “The time is not right for me and my family. At each stage of my public service — as a soldier, as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and then as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and as your Secretary of State, I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to advance America in a way that fit the time and the moment.”

“This is not that time or that moment for me to seek elected office again,” he added. (Read more from “Mike Pompeo Announces Decision on 2024 Presidential Run” HERE)

Anheuser-Busch CEO Breaks Long Silence Amid Dylan Mulvaney PR Crisis

After nearly two weeks of backlash, including threats of a boycott movement and significant losses in market value to his company, Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth issued a statement related to Bud Light’s controversial decision to partner with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, but did not make mention of Mulvaney, transgenderism — or offer an apology to offended customers.

The controversy erupted at the start of the month when Mulvaney, a man who claims to be a woman, announced on Instagram: “Bud Light sent me possibly the best gift ever: a can with my face on it.” The video also included the hashtag #budlightpartner. In the days and weeks that followed, critics blasted Bud Light for its tone-deaf marketing and beer drinkers passed over it for other brands.

“We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people,” Whitworth said in a statement Friday. “We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.”

Whitworth said that he is responsible “for ensuring every consumer feels proud of the beer we brew” and that the company proudly supports “our communities, military, first responders, sports fans, and hard-working Americans everywhere.” Whitworth added that he spends a lot of time “listening to and learning from our customers, distributors, and others.”

The statement failed to directly address the controversy that sent the company into a 13-day public relations crisis in the first place — their decision to collaborate with a man who has achieved internet fame by pretending to be a woman for the last year. Plus-Size Airline Passenger Demands Free Seats and Bigger Bathrooms in Petition to FAA

A plus-size airline passenger has started an online petition demanding change from airlines when it comes to passenger accommodations for people who are larger than others.

In a Change.org petition titled “Demand for the FAA to Protect Plus-Sized Customers,” petition originator Jae’lynn Chaney, a content creator from Vancouver, Washington, has several requests for change when it comes to larger individuals flying safely and comfortably.

“Air travel should be comfortable and accessible for everyone, regardless of size,” Chaney wrote in her petition. . .

Offering a potential solution, she said, “Many airlines also oversell a percentage of seats on flights, resulting in available seats that could be used to accommodate passengers who need additional room.”

Chaney added, “Implementing policies to accommodate plus-size passengers may come with associated costs, but these costs must be weighed against the benefits of creating a more welcoming and inclusive travel experience.” (See Chaney speak about her petition in the Instagram video, below.)

Trans Activist Crashes Conservative Event on College Campus, Flips Table (VIDEO)

An activist upended a Turning Point USA event at the University of Washington on Thursday and compared the group’s behavior to that of a “Nazi” after destroying the students’ information table.

Footage of the incident was captured by Rachel Anderson, a TPUSA field representative, and showed the unidentified protester making several claims about the group before overturning the table.

“Yeah, you just support the genocide of trans kids,” the activist told the group of students at the beginning of the video.

[Warning: video contains explicit language.]

“That’s such an assumption, right. With all of this s—. Right,” the protester said, pointing to materials spread across the table.

“What is anti-trans on the table?” the student asked. (Read more from “Trans Activist Crashes Conservative Event on College Campus, Flips Table (VIDEO)” HERE)

Pentagon Leak Suspect Searched for One Particular Term in Classified Network

The suspect facing charges of leaking U.S. military intelligence documents searched classified intelligence reporting for the word “leak” after the story broke.

Jack Teixeira, the 21-year-old Massachusetts Air National Guardsman accused of leaking documents the Department of Defense says contain “sensitive and highly-classified material,” was charged Friday with unauthorized retention and transmission of national defense information and willful retention of classified documents.

According to an FBI affidavit, Teixeira used his government computer to search for the word “leak” not long after news about the disclosures first broke.

“According to a second U.S. Government Agency, which can monitor certain searches conducted on its classified networks, on April 6, 2023, TEIXEIRA used his government computer to search classified intelligence reporting for the word ‘leak,'” the affidavit reads. “The first public reporting regarding the Government Information appeared on or around April 6, 2023.”

Teixeira was looking for classified reporting on intelligence agencies’ assessment of the identity of the leaker, the FBI indicated. (Read more from “Pentagon Leak Suspect Searched for One Particular Term in Classified Network” HERE)
