Report: Biden Administration ‘Scrambling’ to Assure Allies That Ukraine Aid Will Continue

The Biden administration is “scrambling” to try to assure U.S. allies that American aid to Ukraine will continue despite growing Republican opposition to it, according to a report.

Four sources told Axios that President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken plan to call several of their counterparts in Europe and will hold a conference call with leaders of the G7 countries and several other European allies.

A European diplomat told the outlet that the Biden administration told allies it is working on an agreement with Congress to allow continued military aid to Ukraine.

The outreach began Sunday after Congress passed a short-term funding measure that was stripped of any funding for Ukraine. Biden had signed the measure into law, calling it “good news” since it kept the government funded, and said he fully expected McCarthy to “keep his commitment to the people of Ukraine and secure passage of the support needed to help Ukraine at this critical moment.” Biden also said that he had “just made” a deal with McCarthy about continuing Ukraine funding. With liberals, it often seems that it’s opposite day. When they say they want to prevent the spread of misinformation, what they really mean is they want to spread propaganda and suppress truth. When they say they simply want people to be tolerant of other cultures and beliefs, they work to implement the most intolerant institutions imaginable. When they say they want to fortify an election, it means they want to ensure a pre-determined outcome.

Since January 6 they’ve been shouting that they need to protect democracy and taking action on multiple fronts to do the opposite, as Tucker Carlson and Victor Davis Hansen expertly outline in the newest episode of Tucker on X. In his monologue, Tucker said:

Liberals are now telling us they plan to protect American democracy, and that’s the clearest possible sign that they intend to end it.

Thirteen months from this week, the United States will hold a national election. In a democracy, citizens can vote for the candidate of their choice. That’s not just a feature; it’s the defining fact of the electoral system. The people rule. They can send anyone they want to Washington, because they’re in charge.

But this year, in the name of protecting democracy, liberals have decided to strip Trump’s name from ballots across the country. Trump is the frontrunner in the presidential race. He’s currently beating Joe Biden in the polls. Yet liberals have decided that you should not be allowed to elect him president. That’s not democracy. It’s the opposite. It’s totalitarianism.

Jamaal Bowman: I Pulled the Fire Alarm Because…Republicans Are Nazis?

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) has tried and so far largely failed to explain or justify his decision to pull a fire alarm in a Capitol Hill office building as Congress rushed to avert a federal government shutdown. Now, his desperation to put an end to criticism and push back on punishment for his conduct from House Republicans has taken a predictable but pathetic turn. . .

So scrambling to take the heat off of himself, Bowman’s office suggested Democrats in Congress asked about the situation choose from a list of “suggested talking points” to back up their colleague-under-fire ranging from the literally unbelievable to the utterly absurd. . .

Here’s a sampling of what Bowman wants his colleagues to say about Bowman’s apparent caught-on-tape breach of DC and federal laws:

“I believe Congressman Bowman when he says this was an accident. Republicans need to instead focus their energy on the Nazi members of their party before anything else.”

“There are multiple insurrectionist supporters in Congress and more who supported a coup and support Trumpʼs Big Lie. Thatʼs what they should be focused on. Instead their focus on Rep. Bowman is an attempt to minimize January 6th.”

Girl Snatched From Campground Rescued Hours After Predator Slipped Note Into Family Mailbox

Missing 9-year-old Charlotte Sena has been found after disappearing from Moreau Lake State Park in New York on Saturday, authorities say.

New York State Police announced that a suspect has been taken into custody over the incident on Monday night. Sena is currently safe and healthy, and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

At around 4:20 a.m., state police saw a man drop something in the Sena family mailbox, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul. It was a ransom note. . .

State and federal tactical teams then stormed a camper behind his mother’s double-wide trailer in Milton, just outside Saratoga Springs.

“Within the camper they located the suspect,”: Hochul said during a Friday evening news briefing in Latham. “After some resistance, the suspect was taken into custody, and immediately the little girl was found in a cabinet, covered. Here’s How Many Cups of Coffee the Average American Drinks Every Year

For four in five coffee drinkers, the idea of drinking coffee in the morning is what motivates them to get out of bed, according to new research. The survey of 2,000 American coffee drinkers revealed this is true for 81 percent of respondents — and respondents are so reliant on coffee, they’ll consume an average of 460 cups per year.

Within the survey, respondents were split by their favorite style of coffee — hot coffee (48%), cold brew (20%), iced coffee (18%), frozen or blended coffee (7%), or espresso-based (5%). Those who prefer cold brew and hot coffee were most likely to be motivated by coffee in the morning (86% and 83%, respectively), compared to those who prefer iced coffee or frozen or blended beverages (76% and 66%, respectively).

Commissioned by BUNN and conducted by OnePoll ahead of National Coffee Day, the survey further examined respondents’ love of coffee and how they create their favorite brew. Many respondents would go so far as to give up social media over their morning brew – especially those who prefer hot coffee. Progressive Journalist Who Downplayed Dem City’s Crime Is Shot and Killed

Philadelphia journalist Josh Kruger was shot and killed at his home in the Point Breeze neighborhood overnight, with police saying they do not currently have an suspects.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports before 1:30 in the morning, police responded to reports of gunshots and screams on the 2300 block of Watkins Street. Outside, officers found Josh Kruger shot multiple times and collapsed in the street. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his severe injuries just before 2:15 a.m.

Philadelphia police say they believe someone was able to gain access to Kruger’s home, as there is no sign of forced entry, before Kruger was shot at the base of his stairs. After the shooter fled, Kruger got outside his home for help.

Kruger recently posted on his Facebook account someone came to his house searching for their boyfriend — “a man I’ve never met once in my entire life.” The person called themselves “Lady Diabla, the She-Devil of the Streets” and threatened him.

In addition to writing for different local outlets in Philadelphia, Kruger was a former city spokesperson. On his X account, Kruger often downplayed the crime crisis in the city, along with criticizing conservatives for pointing out the problem, including days leading up to his death.

Poll: RFK Jr. Independent Bid Would Help Trump, Hurt Biden

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. running as an independent 2024 presidential candidate would help former President Donald Trump and hurt President Joe Biden in the general election, a recent Echelon Insights survey found.

A preview of the survey shows Trump leading Biden in a head-to-head presidential matchup nationally, 46 percent to 43 percent — a three-point lead. In that scenario, 11 percent remain unsure for whom they would vote.

However, with Kennedy running as an independent candidate, Trump’s lead over Biden expands by one point, growing to four points — 40 percent to Biden’s 36 percent. Kennedy garners 14 percent support. In that scenario, ten percent remain unsure.

Another look at the survey’s cross tabs shows Kennedy ultimately taking 17 percent of Democrat-leaning voters while taking 11 percent among Republican-leaning voters. In other words, Democrats are more negatively affected by a Kennedy independent run than Republicans are.

Donald Trump Called On ‘Democrat Operative’ Judge in New York Fraud Case to Be ‘Disbarred’

Former President Donald Trump said New York Judge Arthur Engoron, the presiding judge over New York Attorney General Letitia James’ civil fraud case against the former president, is a “democrat operative” and called on him to be “disbarred.”

Monday marked the first day of James’ civil fraud trial against Trump, a case expected to last three months.

Trump appeared in court for the first day of his trial and blasted Judge Engoron, James, and the entire process at various points throughout the day, including before the trial started, during the lunch break, and at the end of the day’s proceedings.

Trump argued Engoron should be “disbarred” for his actions in this case.

“This is a judge that should be disbarred. This is a judge that should be out of office,” Trump said. “This is a judge that some people say could be charged criminally for what he’s doing. He’s interfering with an election, and it’s a disgrace.”

Matt Gaetz Files Motion to Remove Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker

Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida filed a motion Monday to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his position.

Gaetz had vowed to bring such a “motion to vacate the chair” following Congress’ rapid enactment of a continuing resolution on Saturday to avoid a government shutdown, which was supported in the House by Democrats and moderate Republicans but opposed by GOP conservatives. Gaetz has argued that McCarthy’s decision to accept Democratic support breached an agreement reached in January, which led to his speakership after 15 rounds of voting, as well as claimed that he engaged in a “secret side deal” with President Joe Biden to fund Ukraine’s war effort against Russia, which he and other House Republicans have opposed, leading him to file a motion to vacate the chair on Monday.

“Resolved, the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives is hereby declared to be vacant,” Gaetz read from his privileged resolution at the conclusion of Monday’s votes.

Plane Crash Kills State Senator, His Wife and Two Kids: Report

Republican North Dakota state Sen. Doug Larsen and his family were killed in a plane crash in Utah on Sunday night, according to an email sent by Republican Senate Majority Leader David Hogue obtained by the Associated Press.

“Senator Doug Larsen, his wife Amy, and their two young children died in a plane crash last evening in Utah,” Hogue wrote, according to the AP. “They were visiting family in Scottsdale and returning home. They stopped to refuel in Utah.”

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that four people died in the Moab crash, but did not confirm their identities. . .

“At approximately 8:30 p.m. the Grand County Sheriff’s Office received information from a reporting party of a plane going into the ground shortly after taking off from the Canyonlands Airfield north of Moab,” they said in a statement. “Grand County Sheriff’s Deputies, Moab Fire Department personnel and Emergency Medical technicians responded. Classical Air Medical located the downed aircraft and an assessment of patients is currently underway. Further information will be presented as soon as possible,” the statement concludes.
