Assassination Attempt on South Korean Opposition Leader: Shocking Video Unveils Attack
In a shocking incident that unfolded in the southern city of Busan, South Korean opposition leader Lee Jae-myung, Chairman of the Democratic Party and a prominent figure in the National Assembly, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. The brazen attack occurred as Lee visited the site of the city’s new airport, turning a routine political event into a scene of chaos and terror.
Video footage captured the chilling moment when an unidentified assailant lunged at Lee Jae-myung through the press pool, stabbing him in the neck. The attack took place while Lee was engaged in his official duties, highlighting the vulnerability of political figures even during seemingly routine public appearances.

According to reports from NBC News, the injury sustained by Lee was deemed “non-life-threatening,” with little blood loss. A police official in Busan confirmed that the wound was less than half an inch long and assured that the opposition leader was conscious and experienced minimal blood loss during the attack.
The swift response from law enforcement resulted in the apprehension of the male suspect, who is now in custody. Photos circulating in the aftermath of the incident depicted Lee on the ground, surrounded by concerned individuals, with someone applying pressure to his neck. Another image showed him being carried on a stretcher equipped with what appeared to be a neck brace.
South Korea’s President, Yoon Suk Yeol, swiftly condemned the politically motivated violence and ordered an immediate and thorough response to the incident. A presidential spokesperson conveyed President Yoon’s directive for police and other officials to act swiftly, ensuring that Lee receives “the best of care” following the shocking assassination attempt.
