Trump Secures Support From GOP Megadonors in Campaign Surge

Former President Donald Trump is making strategic moves to fortify his presidential campaign, with reports indicating that he successfully recruited several major Republican donors during a meeting in Las Vegas on Saturday. According to Politico’s Alex Isenstadt, three significant donors—hotel executive Don Ahern, casino billionaires Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, and aerospace tycoon Robert Bigelow—committed to financially back Trump’s White House bid.

This development signals a focused effort by Trump to garner support from GOP megadonors as he sets his sights on the general election. The former president is scheduled to host a dinner with more than two dozen prominent party donors at the Palm Beach, Florida home of billionaire investor John Paulson, a Trump ally who has pledged support for the campaign. Additionally, Trump has a fundraiser planned at Mar-a-Lago in February.

The strategic move to court donors underscores Trump’s shift toward the general election following his decisive victories in the Iowa Caucuses and New Hampshire primary. Recent polling indicates Trump’s strong position in upcoming contests, with a significant lead over former Gov. Nikki Haley in South Carolina and poised to win the Nevada caucuses.

Trump’s call for unity within the party is gaining momentum, evident in the backing of influential donors who are eager to support his candidacy. Former U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland Ed McMullen revealed that large donors have expressed interest in supporting Trump after the Iowa and New Hampshire contests.

“The quality of the donors is large gifts, very strong people who were very much involved in ’16 and ’20, some of whom decided they wanted to try something different, and now they’ve come home,” McMullen stated.
