Trump Vows ‘America’s Decline Is Over,’ Ushers in ‘Revolution of Common Sense’ in 2nd Inaugural Address
President Trump called Monday “liberation day” for the US, vowing in a rousing inaugural speech that “the golden age of America begins right now” — before giving two more lengthy addresses and holding an impromptu Oval Office news conference where he answered more questions than former President Joe Biden likely ever did in a single setting.
The 47th president — roundly repudiating the Biden administration’s legacy and “many years” of a “radical and corrupt establishment’’ — promised to bring about a “revolution of common sense” in his remarks kicking off a day of festivities due to end with a trio of balls and a performance by rapper Nelly.
“From this moment on, America’s decline is over,” Trump, 78, told the packed crowd gathered inside the Capitol Rotunda for a pared-down event because of the dangerously cold weather outside.
“There’s no nation like our nation. Americans are explorers, builders, innovators, entrepreneurs and pioneers. The spirit of the frontier is written into our hearts,’’ Trump told the 600-person audience filled with a who’s who of the nation’s top political and business leaders.
“Our American ancestors … won the Wild West, ended slavery, rescued millions from tyranny, lifted millions from poverty, harnessed electricity, split the atom, launched mankind into the heavens and put the universe of human knowledge into the palm of the human hand,’’ he said.
