Fox News Hires Ex-Cuomo Aide Who Admitted To Covering Up Nursing Home Deaths
Fox News hired a former top aide to Andrew Cuomo who admitted to covering up New York State’s nursing home deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Melissa DeRosa will join Fox as a contributor and co-host of a new podcast, “The Girls,” which will debut Oct. 1, Fox News Media said in a press release Monday. DeRosa served in Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration until resigning in August 2021 amid allegations that the governor “sexually harassed” government employees.
Earlier that year, DeRosa admitted on a conference call with Democratic lawmakers that the Cuomo administration covered up the number because they feared the scandal would be politicized by then-President Donald Trump, who could use the Department of Justice to launch a probe.
“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” DeRosa said, according to the New York Post. “He starts going after [then-New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”
“We were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation,” DeRosa said.
