Transgender Democratic Nominee for Governor in Vermont Admits He Can’t Define Socialism

Vermont gubernatorial candidate, Christine Hallquist, sat down for an interview with CNN’s John Berman to discuss being the first transgender nominee for a major political party. Hallquist won the Democratic primary for governor on Tuesday.

During an interview with CNN, Berman referred to a Gallup poll that found that socialism is much more popular among Democrats than capitalism. Hallquist was asked by Berman if those figures surprised her at all and whether or not [he] supports capitalism. . .

Berman then pressed Hallquist again about [his] fondness for socialism and its structures.

“I’m not sure I even know what socialism is, so I don’t have the background to answer that question,” Hallquist said.

“That person, just won a Democratic Party nomination to be the next governor of a state in the United States of America!
