White House Accuses Russia of Tempting a Nuclear Accident With New Attacks on Ukraine’s Power Grid

The White House on Wednesday condemned Russia’s latest barrage of attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and warned that the Kremlin appears “willing to increase the risk of a nuclear safety incident” as it continues to pummel the country’s power grid.

Multiple regions throughout Ukraine have gone dark following Russia’s latest onslaught, forcing Ukraine’s state-owned nuclear operator Energoatom to disconnect the country’s three fully functioning nuclear power plants from the power grid as part of an “emergency protection measure.”

Officials in Kyiv reported that three people were killed and nine wounded after a two-story building was hit in the capital city. Another four people were killed and 34 wounded in the surrounding region.

White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said the Kremlin is turning to “increasingly horrific attacks” as it struggles on the battlefield. (Read more from “White House Accuses Russia of Tempting a Nuclear Accident With New Attacks on Ukraine’s Power Grid” HERE)

Trump Reported Losing Nearly $1B Over 2 Years on Tax Returns: Accountant Testifies

Former President Donald Trump reported losses on his tax returns each year for a decade – including close to $1 billion in a two-year span alone, his onetime accountant testified at trial this week.

Donald Bender, a partner at accounting firm Mazars USA, took the stand in Manhattan Supreme Court Tuesday as part of the criminal tax fraud case against the Trump Organization.

From 2009 to 2018, Bender said he filed 76-year-old Trump’s taxes and “There are losses for all these years.”

Bender – who was called as the first defense witness and was given immunity for testifying before a grand jury – admitted upon questioning from prosecutors that in 2009 and 2010 alone Trump reported losing close to $1 billion. Poll: Trump Dominating 2024 Republican Primary Field

A national poll released Wednesday shows that former President Donald J. Trump is the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican nomination over his potential primary opponents.

The Morning Consult/Politico poll sampled 849 registered voter respondents regarding who they would support in the potential 2024 primary field. Trump, who has officially announced his candidacy, drew 45 percent of their support, placing him 15 points ahead of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 30 percent. No other Republican eclipsed double-digits. . .

Wednesday’s survey follows another 2024 primary poll released by Emerson College Polling on Tuesday, showing Trump with a 30-point advantage over DeSantis among registered voters. Trump garnered 55.1 percent of the response to DeSantis’s 24.8 percent. No other candidate breached the ten percent threshold.

Both polls were conducted after Trump announced his 2024 candidacy last week at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where he promised that America’s brightest days lie ahead. (Read more from “Poll: Trump Dominating 2024 Republican Primary Field” HERE)

New Stats on COVID Deaths Debunk White House Narrative About the Vaccine

New data from the Kaiser Family Foundation shows the majority of people who died from COVID-19 in August were fully vaccinated.

Fifty-eight percent of coronavirus deaths in August were people who were vaccinated or boosted, according to an analysis conducted for The Health 202 by Cynthia Cox, vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation.

It’s a continuation of a troubling trend that has emerged over the past year. As vaccination rates have increased and new variants appeared, the share of deaths of people who were vaccinated has been steadily rising.

The information comes less than 24 hours after White House Coronavirus Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha claimed “nearly 100 percent” of deaths from the virus can be stopped if Americans simply get vaccinated and boosted. Georgia Supreme Court Overturns Lower Court, Reinstates 6-Week Abortion Ban

The Georgia Supreme Court has reinstated the state’s six week abortion ban.

In a unanimous decision Wednesday, the state Supreme Court issued a stay against a lower court ruling that overturned the state’s 2019 “heartbeat” abortion ban. The order went into effect immediately, pending an appeal from state officials. The superior court of Fulton County previously overturned the law last week; it had previously been blocked by a federal court until the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade this past summer.

“The State of Georgia’s Emergency Petition for Supersedeas seeking a stay of the order of the Superior Court of Fulton County in [STATE OF GEORGIA v. SISTERSONG WOMEN OF COLOR REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE COLLECTIVE et al.] is hereby granted,” the court wrote in a one-page order. The decision of the court was unanimous; presiding justice Nels S.D. Peterson was disqualified, and justice Andrew A. Pinson did not participate. The court also dismissed a separate request for an administrative stay. Poll: Trump Holds 30-Point Lead Over 2024 GOP Primary Field

By Breitbart. Former President Donald J. Trump holds a towering 30-point lead over the rest of the potential 2024 Republican primary field, according to a poll.

In an Emerson College Polling survey released Tuesday, 55.1 percent of registered voters said they would vote for Trump in the 2024 GOP primary, placing him 30.3 points ahead of his nearest competitor, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). The Florida governor garnered 24.8 percent of the response.

Former Vice President Mike Pence came in third place as 7.5 percent of participants said they would back him, and 3.6 percent would support outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the vice chair of the January 6th Select Committee. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) drew support from 3.4 percent of poll participants. While the entire poll surveyed 1,380 registered voters, the question asking poll participants who they would support in the GOP primary had a sample size of 614 respondents. Young Americans Voted to Ruin Their Lives

By Townhall. This week, The New York Times published a column by a left-wing academic (forgive the redundancy), John Della Volpe, director of polling at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics. . .

He described young Americans as “stressed and sickened by thoughts of their rights and democracy slipping away.”

That is what Harvard and just about every other university tells America’s young people: “Because of the Right, you should be stressed and sickened — the Right is taking away your rights and destroying your democracy.”

The terrible irony is that there is a mortal threat to Americans’ rights and democracy — but it is entirely from the Left. Ever since Stalin declared Trotsky a “fascist,” the Left has labeled its opponents precisely what the Left itself is. . .

It is certainly working in America. Della Volpe writes: “According to the fall 2022 Harvard Youth Poll, a national survey I oversee for the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, 59 percent of young Americans believe their rights are under attack and 73 percent are troubled that the rights of others are threatened.” (Read more from “Young Americans Voted to Ruin Their Lives” HERE)

‘I’m Done With You:’ WH Flack Shuts Down Reporter Asking About COVID Probe During Fauci’s Final Press Briefing

Dr. Anthony Fauci’s final White House press briefing descended into a near-shouting match Tuesday as he declined to comment on what he’s done to investigate the origins of COVID-19.

Fauci, 81, plans to retire next month after serving as the US government’s top infectious disease expert since 1984 and as President Biden’s chief medical adviser since last year.

“What have you done to personally investigate the origins of COVID?” Daily Caller reporter Diana Glebova attempted to ask Fauci, who has been a fixture at coronavirus briefings since March 2020.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who was moderating Fauci’s farewell Q&A, halted the briefing to reprimand Glebova — opening the floor for even more reporters to clamor for Fauci to answer the question.

“Hold on one second. We have a process here. I’m not calling out on people that yell. And you’re being disrespectful to your colleagues, and you’re being disrespectful to our guests,” Jean-Pierre scolded Glebova. Investors Flee the Housing Market in Troubling Sign for the Economy

Investors bought 30% fewer homes in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same time period last year, as high borrowing costs pressured investors out of the housing market, according to real estate brokerage Redfin Tuesday.

Besides a brief plunge in the second quarter of 2020 in response to the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the decline was the steepest since 2008, and surpassed the 27.4% overall decline in home purchases nationwide, Redfin reported. The pandemic ultimately boosted demand for homes in suburban areas, sending investors on buying spree as they raised rents in those areas, in some cases by double digits, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. (RELATED: Mortgage Payments Surge 50% Since Last Year As Homebuyers Get Priced Out)

The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate was 6.61% for the week ending Nov. 17, 2022, more than double the 3.10% rate set for the week ending Nov. 18, 2021, according to Freddie Mac. Until the Federal Reserve eases its aggressive campaign of interest rate hikes designed to combat inflation, rates are unlikely to return to their pandemic-era levels.

“It’s unlikely that investors will return to the market in a big way anytime soon. Home prices would need to fall significantly for that to happen,” Redfin Senior Economist Sheharyar Bokhari said in Redfin’s press release. “This means that regular buyers who are still in the market are no longer facing fierce competition from hordes of cash-rich investors like they were last year”

Reported Ukrainian Attack on Russian Naval Base Could Be Crucial, UK Officials Say

Media reports that Ukraine used a drone to attack an oil terminal near a Russian naval base on the Black Sea could turn out to be a turning point in the nine-month-long war, British military officials said.

Russian and Ukrainian media outlets reported Friday that an attack took place in the port city of Novorossiysk on Russia’s Black Sea coast. A major naval base of the Kremlin’s Black Sea Fleet (BSF) is near the oil terminal, British military intelligence officials said.

“The BSF relocated many of its submarine operations to Novorossiysk after its Sevastopol base in occupied Crimea was struck by Ukraine over the summer,” the British Defense Ministry tweeted Tuesday. AP Fires Reporter Whose Story Could Have Pushed Us Closer to World War III

The Russia-Ukraine war has raged for months, with enormous casualties on both sides. It’s become a bloody slog in the mud as Russian forces, exposed as exceptionally ill-supplied and inept, have started to retreat from crucial territory within Ukraine. Its officer corps has been said to be devastated entirely, which will take decades to replenish. Yet, the world entered a brief period of panic when the Associated Press reported that Russia had fired missiles against Poland. Two people were killed in the village of Przewodów near the Polish-Ukrainian border on November 15. Yet, it turned out this was fake news.

The missile was not Russian but Ukrainian, fired by its air defense forces. The AP report cited one anonymous source, which—shocker—turned out to be wrong. The news organization fired the reporter who wrote the story, citing a failure to adhere to editorial standards regarding sourcing (via WaPo):

The Associated Press on Monday fired a national security reporter who had provided erroneous information about a missile strike in Poland last week that resulted in a widely circulated but inaccurate news alert and story suggesting Russia was responsible for the incident.

James LaPorta, 35, was terminated after a brief investigation, people at the news organization confirmed to The Washington Post.
