Senate Advances Bill to Give Ukraine $40 Billion in Aid During 40-Year High Inflation

The Senate voted on Monday to advance legislation that would provide $40 billion in aid to Ukraine, while Americans continue to suffer from food shortages and reel from inflation.

The Senate voted to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed on H.R. 7691, the Ukraine Supplemental Aid Package. The motion passed 81-11. This means that the Senate can begin debate on the Ukraine aid package.

The legislation would provide over $20 billion in military supplies and roughly $20 billion in humanitarian, economic, and other aid to Ukraine.

While Senate Republicans and Democrats overwhelmingly voted to advance the legislation, many populist-leaning Republicans such as Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have opposed the legislation.

Sens. Paul, Hawley, Mike Crapo (R-ID), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Mike Braun (R-IN), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) voted against the bill. Captive Russian Troops Claim Commanders Kill Their Own Wounded Soldiers

Captured Russian soldiers have accused their commanders of killing their own wounded troops rather than recovering them from the battlefield and sending them for treatment.

In a harrowing account to Ukrainian journalist Volodymyr Zolkin, the young intelligence soldiers described how one lieutenant colonel asked a wounded comrade if he could walk, the Mirror reported.

When the badly injured soldier replied that he could not, the high-ranking officer reportedly shot him – as well as several others — dead.

Another soldier told Zolkin, who has reported about Russian prisoners for Open Media Ukraine, that officers have “finished off their wounded.”

When the journalist asked him to elaborate, the soldier answered: “Just like that … a wounded soldier is lying on the ground, and a battalion commander shoots him dead from a gun,” according to the outlet. BUSTED: Counselor Who Organized School Drag Show Arrested for Having Sex With 15-Year-Old Student

. . .Now, we have some counselor in Arizona who organized a drag show at her school being busted for having sex with a 15-year-old student (via TheBlaze):

A former Arizona high school counselor – who previously helped students organize a drag show – was arrested and accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl, according to police.

The Tucson Police Department’s Child Sexual Assault Unit received a report of an inappropriate relationship between Zobella Brazil Vinik, 29, and a 15-year-old student at Tucson High Magnet School. At the time, Vinik was a counselor at Tucson High Magnet School. Authorities launched an investigation into the claims on May 3.

“On May 4th, 2022, detectives from the Tucson Police Department Sexual Assault Unit informed the administration of Tucson High Magnet School of an ongoing investigation into one of its counselors, Zobella Brazil Vinik,” read a statement from Tucson Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo. “The administration was informed of an alleged inappropriate relationship between the counselor and a 15-year-old student from Tucson High.”

On May 5, the school district put Vinik on administrative leave and initiated its own investigation. On the same day, Vinik resigned from her counselor position and is no longer an employee of the Tucson Unified School District.

In First, Russian Military Said to Fire S-300 Missiles at Israeli Jets Over Syria

Russian forces opened fire on Israeli jets with advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missiles as they allegedly attacked targets in northwestern Syria last week, Channel 13 news reported Monday, in what could signal a significant shift in Moscow’s attitude to Israel.

According to the unsourced report, the incident occurred on Friday as the Israeli air force bombed several targets near the city of Masyaf in northwestern Syria.

On Friday night at least five people were killed and seven others were hurt in the alleged airstrike, Syria’s state news agency said. Other media in the country said six were killed, all crew members of a Pantsir air defense system who attempted to take down the Israeli missiles.

The report said the Syrian military fired off dozens of anti-aircraft missiles which have been largely ineffective at halting the hundreds of Israeli strikes on Syria in recent years.

However, this time the S-300 batteries also opened fire as the jets were departing the area and ultimately did not present a real threat to the IAF fighters, the report said, noting that Syria’s S-300 batteries are operated by the Russian military and cannot fire without their approval. Arby’s Manager Confesses to Peeing in Milkshake Mix: Police

A Washington state man who worked as a manager at Arby’s has been accused of peeing into the restaurant’s milkshake mix, which could have later been served to dozens of customers.

Vancouver police found a video, which shows 29-year-old Stephen Sharp urinating into a bag of milkshake mix, on Sharp’s phone while investigating him for possession of child pornography. . .

Sharp allegedly admitted to investigators that he had urinated two different times in the mixture for “sexual gratification” but was “almost sure” that he had thrown the bag away after, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the Columbian. Buffalo Shooting Was Premeditated and Shooter Visited Area Months Ago: Police

Buffalo, New York, officials confirmed Monday that the shooting suspect who killed 10 people and injured three others, 11 of whom were black, at a supermarket Saturday visited the area months ago.

The suspect, Payton Gendron, an 18-year-old resident of Conklin, visited Buffalo in early March. Monday’s revelation that Gendron traveled to the area earlier this year came after Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said the shooting was premeditated.

“Information has also come as a result of some of this investigation that the individual was here a few months ago, back in early March,” Gramaglia said at a press conference.

Gramaglia went on to emphasize that investigators are still digging through evidence as the investigation into the alleged racially motivated shooting at Tops Friendly Market continues.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that “of course” private companies should provide travel expenses for their employees to receive an abortion in a state where it is legal if Roe v Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court. . .

When asked about Roe v Wade potentially being overturned by the Supreme Court, Pelosi said, “Who would have ever suspected that a creature like Donald Trump would become president of the United States by waving a list of judges he would appoint, therefore, getting the support of the far-right — and appointing those anti-freedom justices to the court. So, this is not about long game. We played a long game. We won Roe v. Wade a long time ago. We voted to protect it over time.”

She continued, “Let’s not take our eye off the ball. The ball is this court, which is dangerous to the freedoms of our country. Beware in terms of marriage equality, beware in terms of other aspects of it, and so it is. Let’s not waste our time on that. The fact is, this is a dangerous court to families, to freedom in our country. And that is why people have to mobilize. My saying is we don’t agonize. FBI Interviews Parents of Suspected White Supremacist Gunman in Buffalo Massacre

The FBI is interviewing the parents of Payton Gendron, the white supremacist teen who massacred 10 people at a Buffalo supermarket Saturday, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Paul and Pamela Gendron — both civil engineers with the state Department of Transportation — are cooperating with investigators, sources added to AP.

The couple’s 18-year-old son allegedly traveled about 200 miles from the family’s home in Conklin, NY, to the Buffalo Tops Friendly Market, where he launched the slaughter. Payton specifically researched neighborhood’s demographics to target a predominantly black community, sources have said.

Terry Place, who lives a few doors down from the Gendrons in Conklin, said his family had occasional typical neighborly interactions with the shooter’s parents — and only really remembered Payton as their old paperboy. Middle Schoolers Accused of Sexual Harassment for Using Wrong Gender Pronouns

Three Wisconsin boys are facing sexual harassment charges from their middle school over accusations that they used incorrect gender pronouns on a fellow student.

“I received a phone call from the principal over at the elementary school, forewarning me; letting me know that I was going to be receiving an email with sexual harassment allegations against my son,” Rosemary Rabidoux, a parent of one of the accused, told Fox 11 News last week. . .

But none of the concerns Rabidoux had were at issue. Instead, her 13-year-old son, Braden, was accused of using incorrect pronouns to address another student at Kiel Middle School.

“(The investigating principal) said he’s being allegedly charged with sexual harassment for not using proper pronouns,” Rabidoux said. “I thought it wasn’t real. I thought this has got to be a gag, a joke – one has nothing to do with the other.”
