Is America’s Sky-High Housing Market Headed for a Price Correction?

U.S. home prices rose 18.8 percent in 2021, according to the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller U.S. National Home Price Index. During the first three months of 2022, home prices continued their upward trajectory. According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the “median existing-home price for all housing types in March was $375,300, up 15.0% from March 2021 ($326,300), as prices rose in each region. This marks 121 consecutive months of year-over-year increases, the longest-running streak on record.”

Despite surging home prices, there are growing concerns regarding the overall health of the U.S. real estate market as the pace of sales cooled in recent months amid fast-rising mortgage rates and continuing supply shortfalls. Recent analysis by Redfin suggests that at least some homebuyers have moved to the sidelines. But the same analysis suggested that around 54 percent of homes still sold above their list price.

Given the outsized role that the housing sector plays in the U.S. economy, it is worth considering whether we are approaching an inflection point in the real estate market. Indications that the Federal Reserve has finally realized that it needs to front-load rate hikes to curtail surging inflationary pressures have caused the bond market to reset interest rate expectations. Consequently, the 30-year mortgage rate recently surged past the 5 percent level (average mortgage rates are up 2 percent since December 2021). Thousands of Europeans Immigrating to South America Due to Islamic Immigrants and Vax Nazis

Paraguay is seeing a surge in German migrants, fleeing Islamic migrants in their own country and onerous coronavirus restrictions.

“We have a problem in Germany with Muslims,” said one of the exiles, adding: “Islam and vaccinations are big, big problems in this world.”

The German, named as Michael Schwartz and said to have arrived in Paraguay in November 2021, told the BBC that he had avoided taking coronavirus vaccinations — which the German health minister wants to make compulsory, although there is resistance to the policy in the federal legislature — because there are “many questions” around them, suggesting that “many Paraguayans” share his stance.

Stephan Hausen, another German emigrée who arrived in Paraguay with his family in the same month as Schwartz, raised similar concerns, in particular about “continuous” lockdowns which had left him “dumbfounded”.

“That was the final straw,” he said — although like Schwartz he also expressed concerns about Islamic migration to Germany. (Read more about Europeans immigrating to South America HERE)

U.S. and Russia Agree to Historic Prisoner Swap, Marine Exchanged for Drug Trafficking Pilot

Trevor Reed, a U.S. Marine veteran who has been held in Russian custody since 2019, was freed Wednesday in a prisoner swap between the Kremlin and the Biden administration. “Today, we welcome home Trevor Reed and celebrate his return to the family that missed him dearly,” Joe Biden said in the statement announcing that Reed is “free from Russian detention.” The president continued: “I heard in the voices of Trevor’s parents how much they’ve worried about his health and missed his presence. And I was delighted to be able to share with them the good news about Trevor’s freedom.” Reed’s family told Vanity Fair in March that their son had been coughing blood after close contact with an individual with tuberculosis, and had possibly broken a rib. Russia’s war in Ukraine, and the increasingly strained diplomatic ties between Russia and the United States put added pressure on the Biden administration to get Reed, and the two other Americans detained in the country out.

Reed, who was serving a nine-year prison sentence, was convicted with endangering Russian police in 2020 after being accused of drunkenly attacking two Moscow police officers the previous year. Reed has maintained his innocence. In return, U.S. authorities agreed to release Konstantin Yaroshenko, a Russian pilot who was arrested by in 2010 and remained in prison on drug-smuggling charges. (The Biden administration described Yaroshenko on Wednesday as “a Russian smuggler convicted of conspiring to import cocaine.”) Neither Russia nor the U.S. announced the location of the exchange, but a Russian Federal Security Service plane was observed flying to Ankara, Turkey, shortly before the meet was set to take place. . .

Reed’s parents, Joey and Paula Reed, spent years pleading for their son’s release, more recently warning of his deteriorating health. In a phone call with Reed in early March, Joey said his son was discouraged about the prospects of ever being released . . . . (read more about the prisoner swap HERE)

Russia’s tanks in Ukraine have a ‘jack-in-the-box’ design flaw. And the West has known about it since the Gulf war

Russian tanks with their tops blown off are just the latest sign that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine isn’t going to plan.

Hundreds of Russian tanks are thought to have been destroyed since Moscow launched its offensive, with British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace on Monday estimating it had lost as many as 580.

But Moscow’s problems go beyond the sheer number of tanks it has lost. Experts say battlefield images show Russian tanks are suffering from a defect that Western militaries have known about for decades and refer to as the “jack-in-the-box effect.” Moscow, they say, should have seen the problem coming.

The problem relates to how the tanks’ ammunition is stored. Unlike modern Western tanks, Russian ones carry multiple shells within their turrets. This makes them highly vulnerable as even an indirect hit can start a chain reaction that explodes their entire ammunition store of up to 40 shells.

The resulting shockwave can be enough to blast the tank’s turret as high as a two-story building, as can be seen in a recent video on social media. (Read more about Russia’s problem with its tanks in Ukraine HERE)

Giant Sea Monster Found at 9000 Feet in the Alps, May Be the Largest Animal to Ever Exist

A giant monster that could be the largest animal that ever lived, has been unearthed high up in the Alps.

Scientists are saying that the 205 million year old ichthyosaur was larger than a blue whale. The huge marine creature was identified from fossils representing three individuals that included massive teeth and vertebrae.

They were dug out of rocks at an huge altitude of more than 9,000 feet in Switzerland. . .

[One of the team member’s called Dr Heinz Furrer is a retired curator at the University of Zurich’s Palaeontological Institute and Museum] said: “We think that the big ichthyosaurs followed schools of fish into the lagoon. The fossils may also derive from strays that died there.

“You have to be kind of a mountain goat to access the relevant beds. They have the vexing property of not occurring below about 8,000 feet, way above the treeline. (Read more about the giant sea monster found high above tree line in the Alps HERE)

Despicable: School District Forces Radical LGBTQ Ideology on Preschoolers as Young as 3

An Illinois school district is promoting homosexual and “transgender” ideology to students from preschool as part of an “LGBTQ+ Equity Week” program, instructing young students that there are more than two sexes while idolizing notorious sexual predator and homosexual activist Harvey Milk.

Independent journalist Christopher F. Rufo last week reported on an almost 300-page series of documents for teaching staff at the Evanston-Skokie School District in Illinois that outlines a curriculum to implement its “LGBTQ+ Equity Week” program during April, which the district has designated as “LGBTQ+ equity month.”

The program encourages children as young as three years old to “break down gender stereotypes” and to overcome “binary biases” when it comes to male and female human sexuality.

Children in pre-kindergarten classrooms are to be taught the LGBT vision of the rainbow-colored “pride” flag based on the story of political activist Harvey Milk, and that there are people who do not conform to the nature of male or female, describing people who feel this way as “non-binary or queer.”

Continuing, materials within the curriculum documents include posters depicting “two daddies” and “two mommies,” with instructions that the descriptions of “gay” and “lesbian” form “important vocabulary” for the youngest children. (read more about the radical LGBTQ ideology HERE)

Ukraine Accuses Russia of Blackmail With Plan to Halt Gas to Poland

Kyiv accused Russia of blackmailing Europe by cutting off gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria as the crisis in Ukraine deepened, with tensions surging in nearby Moldova and Moscow warning the West to back off.

NATO member and staunch Kremlin opponent Poland is among the European countries seeking the toughest possible sanctions against Russia for its invasion. Fellow alliance member Bulgaria is almost completely reliant on Russian gas imports.

Poland’s state-owned PGNiG (PGN.WA) said supplies from energy giant Gazprom (GAZP.MM) via Ukraine and Belarus will be cut at 0800CET (0600GMT) on Wednesday, but Warsaw said it did not need to draw on reserves and its gas storage was 76% full.

“The gas system in Poland is balanced and customers can feel safe,” Minister in Charge of Energy Security Piotr Naimski said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on “unfriendly” countries to pay for gas imports in roubles, a move only a few buyers have implemented so far. (Read more from “Ukraine Accuses Russia of Blackmail With Plan to Halt Gas to Poland” HERE)

The Biden Administration Is Openly Pursuing a Policy of Escalation in Ukraine

What are we to make of a comment Monday from Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin that the Biden administration’s goal in Ukraine is “to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine”?

Austin made the remark in a press conference with Secretary of State Antony Blinken after the pair met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, in what was the highest level visit by U.S. officials since Russia invaded Ukraine in late February.

One obvious conclusion we can draw from Austin’s comment is that the Biden administration has now committed openly to a policy of escalation in Ukraine. The White House intends to keep the war in Ukraine alive, with the stated goal of weakening Moscow by continuing to pour new and more advanced weaponry into the war-ravaged country. . .

If you’re wondering what is the significance of this deepening U.S. involvement in the Russo-Ukrainian war, or how it might lead to a direct military confrontation between the United States and Russia, consider that the U.S. secretaries of defense and state might have just narrowly missed being struck by a Russian missile as they traveled to and from Kyiv by rail on Monday.

As the Biden administration escalates, the chances that something very much like that will happen are going to increase exponentially. Perhaps a crew of U.S. servicemen quietly sent into the country to train Ukrainian troops on the use of a new U.S.-provided weapons systems will get hit by a Russian missile strike. Perhaps U.S. diplomats, whom Blinken said are returning to Ukraine this week, first to Lviv and eventually to Kyiv, will be killed or injured or otherwise caught in the crossfire.
