California Shuts Down Second In-N-Out Location for Defying Extreme COVID Rules

Northern California health officials shut down another In-N-Out Burger restaurant location Tuesday for allowing indoor dining without checking patrons for proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.

Contra Costa County suspended the permit of the In-N-Out located at 570 Contra Costa Blvd. in Pleasant Hill after the business received an additional two citations. The In-N-Out locations in Pinole and San Ramon also each received violation notices Tuesday for violating the vaccine order.

“We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government,” Arnie Wensinger, In-N-Out’s chief legal and business officer, shot back in a statement reacting to the most recent closure, categorizing the move by county officials as “intrusive, improper, and offensive” government overreach.

“It is unreasonable, invasive, and unsafe to force our restaurant Associates to segregate Customers into those who may be served and those who may not, whether based on the documentation they carry, or any other reason,” he said. “We fiercely disagree with any government dictate that forces a private company to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business.” . . .

This comes about two weeks after another In-N-Out Burger located in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Warf was shut down for allowing indoor dining without checking for proof of vaccination. The local ordinance in San Francisco, which is among the strictest in the state, does not allow patrons to show a negative test in lieu of vaccination proof. That In-N-Out location has since reopened for outdoor dining. (Read more from “California Shuts Down Second In-N-Out Location for Defying Extreme COVID Rules” HERE)

Majority of Fully Vaccinated Are Still Wearing Masks, Despite Vaccine ‘Effectiveness’

The majority of those who are considered “fully vaccinated” are still wearing masks the bulk of the time when outside their homes, a Yahoo! News/YouGov survey released this week found.

As the Biden Administration and public health officials continue to push for mass vaccinations, originally pitching them as the way to return to pre-pandemic life, a majority of people, including a majority of the vaccinated, are still wearing masks “always” or “most of the time” when outside their home.

Overall, 56 percent say they do so always or most of the time. Democrats are more likely to say they wear a mask outside their home (78 percent), compared to 55 percent of independents and 35 percent of Republicans.

However, the survey found that fully vaccinated Americans are wearing masks at a higher rate than individuals who are not fully vaccinated. Sixty-five percent of fully vaccinated individuals say they wear a mask outside the home always or most of the time. Only 43 percent of those who are not fully vaccinated say the same. The majority of those, 57 percent, say they never wear a mask or only do so “some of the time.”

That seems to coincide with the fact that the majority of Americans are worried about the effectiveness of vaccines over time, as 52 percent, overall, are “worried,” including 17 percent who are “very” worried. Just over one-third are “not worried.” A majority of the fully vaccinated, 57 percent, say they are worried about declining effectiveness as time goes on. Catching ‘Kissing Disease’ as a Teen Linked to Future MS Diagnosis

Mononucleosis, which many simply refer to as “mono” or the “kissing disease,” may be the reason some people develop multiple sclerosis later in life. A team in Sweden finds this common infection among children and teens significantly increases the risk of developing MS as an adult.

Doctors have been diagnosing cases of MS since the 19th century. The autoimmune disease tends to develop slowly, eating away at the protective covering around a patient’s nerves — the myelin sheath. This causes many — sometimes debilitating — symptoms including pain, fatigue, and a decline in motor function.

Previous research has examined whether genes which put someone at higher risk for multiple sclerosis makes them more susceptible to other severe infections. The new study, however, looked at the connection between infections and the eventual development of multiple sclerosis.

“Some scientists have suggested that infections like glandular fever (also called infectious mononucleosis “mono” or “kissing disease”) might be worse in people who will go on to develop MS because their immune system is already different,” writes study author Scott Montgomery from University College London in an article in The Conversation. “But another explanation – the one that our study investigated – is that the infection triggers MS.” . . .

Study authors say these infections during childhood may get into the brain, where MS does its damage as well. Although the most at risk for multiple sclerosis are between 11 and 15 years-old, researchers say many won’t receive an MS diagnosis until they reach their 30s. Students Gave Lap Dances to School Faculty for Disturbing ‘Man Pageant’

Students dressed in very little clothing gave lap dances to staff members — including the principal — at a Kentucky public high school while girls dressed as Hooters waitresses during homecoming week activities Tuesday, the Courier-Journal reported.

The paper added that an investigation is underway to figure out what went down as part of Hazard High School’s “Man Pageant” and “Costume Day,” the paper said, citing the school’s Facebook page. . .

Sondra Combs, superintendent of Hazard Independent Schools, told the paper that “the incident is being investigated, and once the investigation is complete, appropriate action will be taken.”

Kentucky Department of Education spokeswoman Toni Konz Tatman added to the Courier Journal that the agency is “aware of what took place in Hazard Independent Schools” and has “been in contact with the superintendent, who has informed us that the incident is under investigation.” (Read more from “Students Gave Lap Dances to School Faculty for Disturbing ‘Man Pageant'” HERE)

Cops Won’t Rule Out Criminal Charges Against Alec Baldwin; Rookie ‘Rust’ Armorer Once Made Nicolas Cage Storm off Film Set After Firing Gun

By New York Post. Authorities on Wednesday refused to rule whether Alec Baldwin could face criminal charges after he accidentally shot dead his cinematographer on the New Mexico set of his “Rust” film last week.

The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office also revealed at a press conference they suspect there were other live rounds found on the set as they continue to investigate the deadly shooting. . .

Sheriff Adan Mendoza said it was too early in the investigation to comment on charges, but the three people who handled the gun – including Baldwin, armorer Hannah Reed-Gutierrez and assistant director David Halls – were cooperating.

When pressed on whether Baldwin could potentially face charges, District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said “no one has been ruled out at this point.” (Read more from “Cops Won’t Rule Out Criminal Charges Against Alec Baldwin” HERE)

Rookie ‘Rust’ Armorer Once Made Nicolas Cage Storm off Film Set After Firing Gun

By New York Post. A furious Nicolas Cage stormed off the set of a film where Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was in charge of weapons — and ripped the rookie armorer for firing a gun without warning, crew members said in a new report.

The 24-year-old “Rust” armorer — in charge of guns when Alec Baldwin shot dead cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last Thursday — was repeatedly accused by crew members of breaking basic safety protocols on the Montana set of Cage’s “The Old Way” in August, they told the Wrap.

Cage even walked off set screaming at Gutierrez-Reed after she fired a gun without warning for the second time in three days, the movie’s key grip, Stu Brumbaugh, told the outlet.

“Make an announcement, you just blew my f—ing eardrums out!” Cage yelled before walking off in a rage, Brumbaugh recalled. (Read more from “Rookie ‘Rust’ Armorer Once Made Nicolas Cage Storm off Film Set After Firing Gun” HERE)

WATCH: U.S. Marshals Raid Wrong Apartment, Hold Mother and Baby at Gunpoint

US Marshals searching for a murder suspect in Florida knocked on the wrong door — and forced a mother holding her child out at gunpoint, intense video shows.

Kada Staples, 22, said she was napping Friday at her Bradenton apartment with her 3-month-old child when armed US Marshals knocked at her door and ordered her to come out, saying “we know he’s in there,” WFLA reported.

Footage from Staples’ doorbell cam shows two agents with guns drawn just outside her unit.

“And they started screaming at me, ‘US Marshals, open up, we know he’s in there,’ yelling to come out,” Staples recalled. “And I just kind of started freaking out, so I’m trying to hurry up and put my dog away in his cage.”

Moments later, Staples cracked open her door and the US Marshals pushed her and her baby out of the way while holding them at gunpoint, she said. (Read more from “WATCH: U.S. Marshals Raid Wrong Apartment, Hold Mother and Baby at Gunpoint” HERE)

Who’s Running, Joe? Biden Says ‘Trump’ 24 Times During Stump in Virginia for Gov Race

President Biden on Tuesday seemed fixated on former President Donald Trump in a Virginia stump speech for Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor.

Biden mentioned Trump by name 24 times during a brisk 17-minute speech in a park near the Pentagon in northern Virginia, attempting to use his predecessor’s legacy to bash Republican Glenn Youngkin, who is tied with McAuliffe in polls in a state Biden won by 10 points just a year ago. . .

I ran against Donald Trump. Terry is running against an acolyte of Donald Trump,” Biden said, slamming the ex-president and accusing him of inciting the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, as well as for disparaging former secretary of state Colin Powell and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) after they died.

Biden even appeared to taunt Trump, who frequently boasted of low unemployment rates before the COVID-19 pandemic, saying, “Donald Trump is the only president since Herbert Hoover in the ’30s to see more jobs lost than gained.”

“He won’t allow Donald Trump to campaign for him in this state,” Biden claimed. “He’s willing to pledge his loyalty to Trump in private, why not in public? What’s he trying to hide? Is there a problem with Trump being here? Is he embarrassed?” (Read more from “Who’s Running, Joe? Biden Says ‘Trump’ 24 Times During Stump in Virginia for Gov Race” HERE)

FDA Panel Recommends Children Receive COVID Vaccine

A key Food and Drug Administration advisory committee on Tuesday recommended a lower dose of Pfizer and BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11, a critical step in getting some 28 million more kids in the U.S. protected against the virus as the delta variant spreads.

The endorsement by the agency’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee will now be considered by the FDA, which could issue a final decision within days. The vote was nearly unanimous, with 17 members backing it and one abstention.

The agency doesn’t always follow the advice of its independent committee, but it often does. Next week, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccine advisory group is expected to make its own recommendation. If it issues an endorsement and CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky signs off, shots for young kids could begin immediately.

The Biden administration said it plans to distribute the doses as soon as it’s authorized by the FDA and CDC, which is expected to come early next month. The administration said it’s procured enough vaccine to inoculate all 28 million 5- to 11-year-olds in the U.S., and will distribute it in smaller dosing and with smaller needles to make it easier for pediatricians and pharmacists to administer to kids. 38-Year-Old Mother Poses as Teenage Girl Online to Catch Pedophiles

A 38-year-old Connecticut mother is posing online as a 15-year-old to expose pedophiles. . .

One of the episodes shows [Roo] Powell posing as Floris, “an emotionally fragile high school student from Stamford,” according to the Daily Beast , which obtained early access to the series.

Floris enters online chatrooms under her youthful guise, where she is promptly contacted by several older men who appear to have a sexual interest. The messages she receives from these men “range from the disgusting to the disgraceful to the outright abominable.”

While going on FaceTime and Snapchat to communicate with the men, Powell uses several lighting and makeup tricks to appear some 20 years younger, even setting up a fake bedroom set in her home that appears to belong to a teenage girl.

She works with several assistants, including Norwalk Police Department Detective Mark Suda, who pretends to be Powell’s uber driver when she meets in person with the online contacts. Once she has gathered enough evidence about a predator, she hands it over to the police. (Read more from “38-Year-Old Mother Poses as Teenage Girl Online to Catch Pedophiles” HERE)

Chinese Media Warning: If Taiwan Changes Name of Office in U.S., China Will Respond With ‘Military’ Action

Chinese propagandist Hu Xijin, editor of China’s state-run Global Times, warned in a video that if the United States allows Taiwan to change the name of its representative office in the U.S. from “Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office” to “Taiwan Representative Office” that China will respond with military action.

The Global Times is known for being a jingoistic publication that often makes more extreme statements than the Chinese Communist Party. . .

“Beijing will definitely take economic and military actions against the arrogance of the U.S. and Taiwan,” Hu continued. “At this point, it is foreseeable that the mainland fighter jets will fly over the island of Taiwan. The mainland has been planning it for a long time. I’d like to point out that the U.S. and Taiwan have continued to increase the mainland’s cost of maintaining peace in the Taiwan Straits. More than half of China’s diplomatic troubles have to do with the Taiwan question. Calls for a thorough solution to the Taiwan question through force are consistently increasing in the mainland. The Taiwan question is getting very close to the tipping point.”
