Man Comes Home Upset About Not Qualifying for COVID-19 Stimulus Check. After Wife Wouldn’t Give Him Car Keys to Buy More Beer, He Allegedly Tries to Set Her on Fire.

Joe Macias’ disabled wife told police he arrived home around 5 p.m. last Wednesday with a four-pack of beer and “upset because he did not qualify for the [COVID-19] stimulus check,” the Albuquerque Journal reported. . .

After Macias finished the beer, the 63-year-old asked for his wife’s car keys so he could buy more — but when she refused, he yelled “you’re going to pay the consequences” and stormed out of their mobile home, the paper said, citing a criminal complaint filed in metropolitan court.

His wife said he came back a few hours later with a gas can and pushed her to the floor, the paper said. She told police she was unable to get up, and Macias threw gasoline on her and all over their home, the Journal added.

But when Macias pulled out a cigarette and attempted to light it several times, he couldn’t because the lighter had gasoline on it, the paper said. Largest County in the U.S. Threatens Churchgoers With $1,000 Fine and 90 Days in Jail

By The Blaze. San Bernardino County, the largest county in the United States, drastically increased public restrictions over the coronavirus pandemic in an order issued on Tuesday.

The order prohibited public church and other faith-based services, banned “driving parades” that have become popular online, and threatened violators with a $1,000 fine and possible jail time.

The order also formally commanded residents to wear face coverings in public areas.

“In an effort to protect the public from further spread of COVID-19, the County’s Acting Health Officer has formally ordered everyone in San Bernardino County to wear a face covering when leaving home,” the statement read.

The order recommended that families have their own Easter egg hunts at home. (Read more from “Largest County in the U.S. Threatens Churchgoers With $1,000 Fine and 90 Days in Jail” HERE)

Coronavirus: These U.S. States Refuse to Issue Stay-At-Home Orders

By Al Jazeera. Even as most Americans are under orders from their governor to stay at home to slow the spread of the coronavirus, leaders in a handful of states have steadfastly refused to take that action, arguing it is unneeded and could be harmful.

Nine governors have refused to issue statewide mandates that people stay at home, but local leaders have taken action in some of those states. North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Arkansas are the only states where no one is under a stay-at-home order.

The lack of action from those governors – even as they take other steps such as closing schools and limiting the size of gatherings – has frustrated health experts and left some residents puzzled.

“If social distancing manoeuvres are going to work, they’re most likely going to work if you do them early,” said Arthur L Reingold, a professor and infectious disease expert at the University of California-Berkeley. “The longer you wait, the harder it is for them to have a substantial impact on transmission of the virus.”

That also has been the message of Dr Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, who has said all states should have statewide orders that people remain at home. (Read more from “Coronavirus: These U.S. States Refuse to Issue Stay-At-Home Orders” HERE)

WATCH: Trump Asks Reporter If She’s Working for China After Pro-Beijing Questions

President Donald Trump pressed a reporter on Monday about whether she was working for the Chinese government after she asked a question about medical supplies that Beijing has provided the United States.

The reporter, who said she was with Phoenix TV, a Hong Kong-based outlet sympathetic to Beijing, began her question by noting that the Chinese government and companies like Huawei and Alibaba have donated medical supplies and equipment to the U.S. to handle the coronavirus pandemic. . .

Trump shot back: “Who are your working for, China?”

“Do you work for China, or are you with a newspaper? Who are you with?” he continued.

The reporter said that she works for Phoenix TV.

Pelosi: Presidential Primary Voting at This Time Is ‘Undermining Our Democracy’

By WND. Democrats, despite their bravado, have reasons to worry about the 2020 presidential election.

Until the coronavirus pandemic, they were facing a strong incumbent with significant economic, national and international accomplishments and a way of reaching independents. Their probable candidate? A gaffe-prone former vice president who regularly loses his train of thought.

Then came the pandemic, and President Trump has been on camera every day, giving updates, outlining plans and announcing decisions. His polling numbers have gone up. Meanwhile, Biden has been holding court in his basement. . .

In fact, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., says voting in a regularly scheduled election is “undermining our democracy.”

She’s complaining about the primary election Tuesday in Wisconsin, which Democrats had tried either to delay or provide special accommodations for voting. (Read more from “Pelosi: Presidential Primary Voting at This Time Is ‘Undermining Our Democracy'” HERE)

Conservative Judges Order Wisconsin’s 2020 Primary to Go Ahead

By Daily Mail. . .The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Monday ordered the election back on, hours after Democratic Gov. Tony Evers issued an executive order postponing it for two months.

That was part of a last-ditch effort by Evers to stop in-person voting on Tuesday out of concerns about putting poll workers and voters at risk of being exposed to COVID-19.

The court ruled 4-2, with four conservatives in support and two liberals against, that Evers lacked the authority to move the election on his own. (Read more from “Conservative Judges Order Wisconsin’s 2020 Primary to Go Ahead” HERE)

Perspective: Who We Listen to Matters

We have been told by every expert in the world that this COVID19 virus is “bad.” And it most certainly is. Thousands have died and there are more to come. But when we use words like “bad” or “good” there is a presumption that we are comparing something before us to something we already know to be bad or good. It is called perspective.

What then are we to compare this current threat to, if we are to have perspective? Should we compare it to the Spanish Flu which killed 675,000 Americans and 20-50 million worldwide? It appears not. No one disagrees that the Spanish Flu was truly bad. Indeed, as we became aware of COVID19 some experts were projecting a death toll similar to that of the Spanish Flu. But this isn’t the Spanish Flu. With the most recent models projecting deaths to be in the 82 thousand range, (with a low of 50,000 and a high of 136,000) we are well below the Spanish Flu level of “bad.”

But what about the Influenza epidemic of 2017-2018? In that outbreak 45 million Americans were infected which required 810,000 hospitalizations resulting in 61,000 deaths. When it comes to deaths it seems like this might make an adequate comparison. But did we consider the 2017-18 outbreak “bad”? I don’t know because I can’t remember anything significant about it. Can you? There might have been some school closures but I’m certain we here in Alaska didn’t do any social distancing. We certainly didn’t shut down any businesses nor did we order, under penalty of fine and/or imprisonment, our fellow citizens to remain in their homes. In fact the economy did rather well.

Today however, things are quite different. Things are ‘bad’…real bad… or so we are told. We have a Governor and Mayors who have ordered the most extreme measures of nearly any state in the country. Our civil liberties are virtually suspended. We cannot travel outside our homes without following the repressive directives of elected officials. We cannot associate with anyone who is not in our immediate family. We cannot go to work unless those same officials deem that work essential. Our churches have been ordered closed but marijuana and bicycle shops have not. Elective surgeries have been cancelled but abortions have not. We have been ordered to wear face masks. The state even provides a link to where one Alaskan can report on another for suspected violations of Corona virus diktats. Here is the link. ([email protected].)

How did we get to a point where we cowered in our homes even as our leaders stripped us of our civil rights and destroyed our economy? What were we thinking? What were they thinking?

The answer is remarkably simple. We lost perspective. As cowering citizens we chose to live in fear of something the experts should have known was unknowable. We lived in fear of “death rates” when they were unknowable and presented fraudulently. Drs. Fauci and Birx knew that any calculation based on the number of Americans infected by COVID19 was nearly useless as it was based on that which was unknowable—the number of Americans infected. We hadn’t tested any where near the number of people needed to make far-reaching and devastating economic decisions. And yet they pressed on, early on, in convincing President Trump that it was likely the virus would kill millions of Americans.

I’m not suggesting that Trump should not have listened to either Fauci or Birx, indeed they were precisely the people he should have been listening to. But Trump made, and continues to make, a mistake. He listens only to them.

They are first and foremost doctors. In that calling they are incapable of answering the most important question that Trump, and many governors, are not asking. “How many lives, doctor, are you willing to lose right now so that I can open the economy and possibly avert an economic disaster?” Any doctor worth their oath will say “None”. And that is the answer we all want from our doctors. That is a good thing.

But our political leaders must look at the whole picture. They must be able to ask and answer that question at any given moment. That is what we elected them to do.

Three days before D-Day in 1944 General Eisenhower was given an estimate by ‘his doctors’ that the invasion could yield 75% casualties. That means 75 out of 100 men would be killed or wounded. He made the call to proceed with the invasion, winning the war.

If our leaders believe we are at war with this virus then they must start acting like it. They must make the tough calls. If they don’t, this virus will take its course regardless but we will be left with little or nothing at the end of it. That is a clear knowable.

Early on in this crisis I listened to an epidemiologist say during an interview that, “epidemiologists lose sleep over denominators.” When a scientist says he loses sleep over something we all need to pay attention to that something. I did.

When we calculate the rate of anything, in this instance a “death rate”, we must have both a numerator and a denominator. The numerator has been fairly easy to ascertain. It’s the number of people who have tested positive and have died. But the denominator is another thing altogether. Fauci and Birx have been too often using models to determine the number of people who have the virus as the denominator and that has, as we now know and they should have known, been an unknowable number. But when they do so the denominator used is so small the death rate gets quite large…say 1.5 to 2.5%, the range Fauci gave just a few weeks ago. Yesterday he said, “Data always trumps models.” Today, the economy is being decimated because of unknowable data used to make bad models.

Instead, they should have been using a knowable number as the denominator, our population. There are 330 million of us. As of this writing the death from COVID19 in America are 12,474. Divide that number into 330 million and we come to a death rate of .0000378. Conversely that gives Americans a survivability rate of .9999622. While dying from this virus is an utter disaster for the victim and his or her family and friends this does not constitute a disaster worthy of shutting down the entire American economy.

To get to Dr. Fauci’s 1.5% death rate we would be looking at over 4.9 million Americans succumbing to the virus. No one is projecting that anymore.

The current and most followed projections are that 81,766 Americans will succumb to the virus. That is a tragedy of course. But dividing 81,766 into 330 million we come to a death rate of .000248, giving a survivability rate of .9998. Again, is that worth the great price paid in lives and fortunes by shutting down our entire economy? One day very soon nearly every last American will answer with a resounding ‘NO!”

Here in Alaska we are faced with the exact same predicament. Substitute ‘Dunleavy’ for ‘Trump’ and ‘Zink’ for ‘Fauci’ in the above analysis and we come to the same conclusion. Governor Dunleavy is listening only to those who are incapable of answering ““How many lives, doctor, are you willing to lose right now so that I can open the economy and possibly avert an economic disaster?” with anything other than “None.” Same methodology, same problem.

As of this writing six Alaskans have died from the virus. There are 730,000 Alaskans. That’s a .000008 death rate, giving a .99999 survivability rate. And yet we allow our government to lock us in our homes, close our churches and businesses and force us to wear masks even as abortions go on and pot and bicycle shops remain open. If it weren’t so serious it would be laughable, disgustingly so. We gave up nearly all our God-given liberties and personal fortunes…for this?!

It’s time to go back to work and to the new normal. While we need to take prudent precautions in doing so, like washing our hands, not coughing on others, staying out of groups of greater than 50 people for the near term and being otherwise good citizens, we need to do what needs to be done. Work.

If we don’t…and soon…we will remember this COVID19 crisis not by how well we responded to it but by how we didn’t…even as we destroyed ourselves. The cure is now worse than the disease. Really.

Trump Promotes Voter ID, Says ‘a Lot of People Cheat With Mail-In Voting’

By Newsweek. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he rejected the idea of mail-in voting and endorsed the concept of Voter ID, which he referred to as “the real deal.”

“I think a lot of people cheat with mail-in voting,” Trump said at Friday’s coronavirus task force meeting from the White House. “I think people should vote with Voter ID. I think Voter ID is very important, and the reason they don’t want Voter ID is because they tend to cheat.” . . .

Trump said people should show up to the polls in person and cast their votes after presenting the proper identification.

“You should have a picture for voting,” Trump said. “It should be called Voter ID, they should have that. And it shouldn’t mail-in voting, it should be you go to a booth and you proudly display yourself.” (Read more from “Trump Promotes Voter ID, Says ‘a Lot of People Cheat With Mail-In Voting'” HERE)

Texas Opens Door to More Mail-In Voting in 2020 Elections

By Houston Chronicle. Texas is opening the door to an expansion of mail-in voting during the coronavirus outbreak, though the state is unlikely to heed calls to have every voter cast ballots by mail to avoid exposure to COVID-19 at polling places.

The state’s director of elections on Thursday sent guidance to elections officials in all 254 counties telling them that voters can ask for mail-in ballots if they are worried that coronavirus will make showing up to a polling place a danger to their health. The Curious History of COVID-19 That the Chinese Communists Don’t Want You to Hear About

Let’s be clear, although there have been many attempts to do so by scientists worldwide, so far, no one knows the origin of CoVid-19, the coronavirus strain responsible for the global pandemic.

CoVid-19 has several unique features such as high-affinity human angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) receptor binding, a furin (polybasic) cleavage site and certain “open reading frame” derived proteins, all of which come together in a single organism to create an extremely contagious and often deadly virus.

CoVid-19 is the seventh member of the family of coronaviruses that infect humans. Although the SARS-CoV coronavirus, responsible for the 2002-2003 pandemic, also binds to the human ACE2 receptor, none of the previously-identified human-infecting coronavirus strains is sufficiently similar to CoVid-19 to be designated its immediate relative or “progenitor.”

Of the comparisons made between CoVid-19 and all of the other potential progenitors, including those identified in an article much-cited by the main stream media, none possess the furin (polybasic) cleavage site, which potentially makes it a marker in the search for the origin of CoVid-19, if other structural similarities are also present.

Much like the climate change debate, there appears to be a politically-motivated campaign to demonstrate that CoVid-19 occurred naturally as a species “jump” from animals to humans originating in the Wuhan wet market. Despite an extraordinary effort, mainly by the Chinese government, and a flood of publications, there is still little evidence that directly supports that contention.

An alternative interpretation is that CoVid-19 “leaked” out of a Wuhan laboratory, either as a yet undescribed or not fully sequenced natural coronavirus isolate e.g. bat coronavirus BtCoV/4991 (GenBank KP876546) or as one manufactured by combining the properties of multiple viruses and subjected to a sequential passage of the recombinant through live animal hosts.

It is important to note that deadly viruses have previously “leaked” out of Chinese virology labs in two separate incidents.

A 2004 outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV) in China involved two researchers who were working with the virus in a Beijing research lab, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on April 26, 2004 and confirmed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

“We suspect two people, a 26-year-old female postgraduate student and a 31-year-old male postdoc, were both infected, apparently in two separate incidents,” said Bob Dietz, WHO spokesman in Beijing at the time.

Synthetic biology, that is, the engineering of biology to create biologically-based systems that do not exist in nature is now widely used in laboratories worldwide. It has a number of benefits including as a rapid response platform to provide treatments for emerging diseases.

If unregulated, however, such bioengineering can produce combined or “chimeric” novel human pathogenic microorganisms capable of circumventing therapeutics or vaccines and, if released in nature, could have dramatic and permanent effects on disease transmission among species via natural-occurring mutations of the new viral entity.

The technology to create a coronavirus chimera has been demonstrated.

In a 2015 collaborative study between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and American scientists, funded by the National Institutes of Health, properties of two different viruses, the SHC014-CoV coronavirus and a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV, the coronavirus responsible for the 2002 pandemic, were combined as a chimera. It produced a new viral entity, SHC014-MA15, which, according to the authors, “Despite predictions from both structure-based modeling and pseudotyping experiments” unexpectedly “was viable and replicated to high titers” [a lot] in cell culture (Vero cells) and was capable of infecting human airway epithelial (HAE) cultures [human lung surface cells] and “showed robust replication” comparable to the “epidemic SARS-CoV Urbani strain.”

That is, with the appropriate starting coronavirus strains, it is theoretically possible to manufacture a CoVid-19-like chimera.

Given the illness, death and economic destruction caused by CoVid-19, it is the responsibility of the Chinese government to fully open its research files and databases to international inspection, including information about the hundreds of coronavirus isolates, in order to ascertain the true origin of the Chinese CoVid-19 coronavirus.

Child Rapist Released From Jail for Coronavirus Risk

A Massachusetts man with child rape and indecent exposure convictions is being released from jail on account of the risk he faces from the raging coronavirus epidemic. 54-year old Glenn Christie was released from the Massachusetts Treatment Center on Friday.

Christie had been previously released from prison on parole, following his conviction for repeatedly raping a 12-year old boy in the city of Lynn, Massachusetts. He was ordered back to prison after violating the terms of his parole agreement, but now he’s getting out because of the risk he faces as a result of the epidemic.

Christie had been a cellmate with an inmate who died of the coronavirus, and he apparently faces several serious preexisting conditions, according to his lawyers. The man uses a wheelchair, and has hypothyroidism, and several other possible medical conditions such as kidney disease. . .

It’s probably safe to say that a man convicted of raping a child isn’t the kind of inmate that the public would want released in the midst of a medical pandemic. (Read more from “Child Rapist Released From Jail for Coronavirus Risk” HERE)

H-2A, H-2B Foreign Workers Not Tested for Coronavirus Before Entering U.S.

Foreign workers brought to the United States on the H-2A and H-2B visa programs, through a fast-tracked process by the State Department, will only undergo additional medical screening if they have symptoms of the Chinese coronavirus, Breitbart News has learned.

As jobless claims for Americans have reached more than ten million in just weeks, the State Department announced waivers for H-2A and H-2B foreign workers. The plan, spearheaded by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, allows American businesses to more quickly bring foreign workers to the U.S.

Between the H-2A visa program, for foreign agricultural workers, and the H-2B visa program, for foreign nonagricultural workers, more than 350,000 additional blue-collar foreign workers are imported to the U.S. labor market annually. Despite this year’s record unemployment, hundreds of thousands of H-2A and H-2B foreign workers are expected to take American jobs.

In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, these H-2A and H-2B foreign workers will continue to only undergo the existing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) screenings, a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) spokesperson told Breitbart News.

The procedure means DHS will not require that each H-2A and H-2B foreign worker be tested for coronavirus before entering the U.S. Instead, those showing symptoms of coronavirus “will be referred to DHS medical contractors, the CDC, or local health authorities for enhanced health screening,” the CBP spokesperson said in a statement.
