Bloomberg Plagiarized Campaign Literature

Mike Bloomberg’s presidential campaign plagiarized portions of its plans for maternal health, LGBTQ equality, the economy, tax policy, infrastructure, and mental health from research publications, media outlets, and a number of nonprofit, educational, and policy groups.

The Intercept found that exact passages from at least eight Bloomberg plans or accompanying fact sheets were direct copies of material from media outlets including CNN, Time, and CBS, a research center at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the American Medical Association, Everytown for Gun Safety, Building America’s Future Educational Fund, and other organizations. Bloomberg co-founded Everytown for Gun Safety, a political organization focused on gun control, and Building America’s Future Educational Fund, a nonprofit working on infrastructure investment and reform, and has chaired them in the past, and he was listed as a co-author on the educational fund’s reports. He is not clearly affiliated with the other sources. The plagiarized sections ranged in length from entire paragraphs to individual sentences and fragments in documents that were between five and 14 pages long.

On Wednesday afternoon, The Intercept sent a detailed query to the Bloomberg campaign. By Thursday morning, one of the plans was completely taken down, while others were changed. Asked about the plan that was removed, spokesperson Julie Wood said the campaign would notify The Intercept when it was posted again.

The Bloomberg campaign did not deny the plagiarism. In a statement, the campaign said, “Much of what you flagged were fact sheets that went out via MailChimp” — an online newsletter service — “which doesn’t support footnote formatting. When we announce policy platforms, we put together detailed fact sheets with context and supporting background, so that reporters understand the problem we’re trying to solve with our policy. For sourcing, we often look to the organizations that Mike has led or worked with in the past, like the City of New York and Building America’s Future. We have since added citations and links to these documents.” (Read more from “Bloomberg Plagiarized Campaign Literature” HERE)

Schiff Claims John Bolton Refused to Give a Statement Under Oath During Impeachment Trial (VIDEO)

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow that during the impeachment trial when it was clear former national security adviser John Bolton had things to say, he offered to let Bolton give a statement under oath. Bolton refused.

“I can tell you that after the Senate voted not to hear witnesses — after they voted to be the first impeachment trial in history without witnesses, we did approach John Bolton’s counsel and asked if Mr. Bolton would be willing to submit an affidavit under oath, describing what he observed in terms of the president’s Ukraine misconduct, and he refused,” said Schiff. “So. for whatever reason, he apparently was willing to testify before the Senate but apart from that, seems intent on saving it for his book.”

‘Christian’ Buttigieg Refuses to Say He Does Not Support Infanticide

2020 presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg refused Thursday to say whether he supports infanticide.

Buttigieg spoke with The View’s Meghan McCain regarding his stance on abortions Thursday morning. McCain reminded Buttigieg that he once suggested that unborn babies can be aborted up until they draw their first breath, and offered Buttigieg a chance to walk back this statement, noting that Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s infanticide comments have accelerated the discussion of when a woman should be able to have an abortion. . .

“I’m just pointing to the fact that different people will interpret their own moral lights, and for that matter, interpret scripture differently,” he said. “But we live in a country where it is extremely important that no one person has to be subjected to some other person’s interpretation of their own religion.”

The 2020 presidential candidate added that his point was that “it shouldn’t be up to a government official to draw the line. It should be up to the woman.” . . .

“Think about the situation. If this is a late-term situation, then by definition it’s one where a woman was expecting to carry the pregnancy to term. Then she gets the most perhaps devastating news of her life. We’re talking about families that may have picked out a name, maybe assembling a crib and they learn something, excruciating, and are faced with this terrible choice,” the former South Bend, Indiana, mayor said. After Court Revealed His Identity, a Man Set to Testify Against MS-13 Has Been Found Dead

A New York man willing to testify against MS-13 members who attacked him in 2018 was found dead earlier this week after his identity was disclosed to defendants’ attorneys in pre-trial proceedings, police say.

The bludgeoned body of 36-year-old Wilmer Maldonado Rodriguez was found Sunday outside an abandoned home in New Cassel, the Nassau County Police Department announced Wednesday. Investigators said Rodriguez in October 2018 came to the defense of two boys who were being threatened by the gang — only to be beaten with a bat and stabbed, according to Newsday. . .

Singas says prosecutors tried to keep Rodriguez’s identity secret by obtaining a protective order in December 2018.

But last December, ahead of looming changes to New York’s criminal justice system, including reforming the pre-trial discovery phase – during which prosecutors reveal evidence to the defense for preparation – the judge in the case issued a new order.

It allowed “for the disclosure of the protected information to defense counsel,” Newsday reports. The judge’s order, it added, required attorneys for two defendants not to reveal Rodriguez’ s name to their clients until the trial’s start date of Jan. 6. Four Children Found Alive After Going Missing During Alaskan Blizzard

Four children have been found alive after they went missing during a blizzard in Alaska when they were last seen going for a ride on a snowmachine.

KTUU reported that the children went for a ride on a snowmachine at 1 p.m. on Sunday and never returned to their village of Nunam Iqua.

Alaskan State Troopers found out about the incident around 6:45 p.m. and started an official search, but blizzard conditions made it difficult for rescue crews to see.

Once state troopers and other rescue crews resumed their search Monday morning, they confirmed that all four children were found alive and were being brought to safety. . .

The three older boys — 14-year-old Christopher Johnson, eight-year-old Frank Johnson, and seven-year-old Ethan Camille — dug a hole in the snow to shelter the two-year-old boy Trey Camille, Alaska Public Media reported. Criminal Alien Who Avoided Deportation Now Accused of Smothering 22 Elderly Women

It should be the crime story of the year, or even the century. An illegal alien who wound up getting a green card was convicted of a crime that should have gotten him deported. But among the millions of criminal aliens who are allowed to remain in the country, Billy Chemirmir was not removed. He is now accused of smothering to death at least 22 women in their 80s and 90s in the Dallas metro area – all after he could have been deported. These murders were 100 percent preventable. Where are the outrage, congressional hearings, or even news reports on this case?

Senate Republicans looking for a legislative focus after impeachment should ask themselves what is more important than this story and the policy problems implicated in its deadly outcome. Last August I reported that Billy Chemirmir, a Kenyan national who overstayed his visa but used a controversial loophole to get a green card, is accused of smothering elderly women to death from May 2016 through March 2018.

Most of the alleged murders occurred in senior living complexes in northern Texas, and he is believed to have been motivated by his desire to steal the victims’ jewelry. Throughout the past two years, as investigators work with numerous families of seniors who died suddenly and were once thought to have died natural deaths, the suspected death toll is growing.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the number of alleged victims is now up to 22. Although he has only been indicted in 12 cases so far, there are 10 others in which he is named as the suspect in civil lawsuits. A new lawsuit accusing Preston Place in Plano of negligent security alleges that Chemirmir smothered Miriam Nelson to death on March 9, 2018, just days before he was finally arrested and his actions were discovered because one of the victims survived his attack and was able to identify him. Preston Place is the senior living complex where seven other victims have been identified. Nelson was the mother-in-law of former Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris.

While most of the local coverage on this story is focused on questions of malfeasance on the part of several senior living complexes, there is a much bigger story of public policy malfeasance that requires investigation by Congress and the DHS, as well as actions to rectify those problems.

The suspected death toll from this criminal alien now stands at 22, the same number as the horrific mass shooting in El Paso last year. With investigators continuing to sift through the cases of over 750 seniors who died suddenly in the area and even exhuming some bodies, the number could be even higher. After the El Paso shooting, there was a national outcry from the politicians in Texas and elsewhere to “do something.” The El Paso shooter was a first-time offender who came out of nowhere. Chemirmir, on the other hand, was a repeat foreign national offender who should have been removed from the country several times. Had our laws been followed, every one of these alleged murders could have been prevented.

There are two layers of public policy malfeasance that warrant investigation in the case of Chemirmir. Both of these have huge national implications that affect thousands of criminal aliens and could save countless lives if these loopholes were plugged.

Breitbart reported last May that Chemirmir indefinitely overstayed the tourist visa granted to him in 2003. According to section 212(a)(9)(b) of the INA, which passed the Senate by voice vote in 1996 and was signed by President Bill Clinton, anyone who remains here illegally is not only deported but barred from re-entering the country for 10 years. However, past administrations have been liberally granting “hardship” visas to anyone who marries an American while remaining here illegally. This circumvention of the law has been used in the past by criminal aliens to avoid deportation, often through sham marriages.

In Chemirmir’s case, he was offered a green card based on such a marriage in 2007, despite having remained here illegally for four years. This is a loophole that DHS can end tomorrow. It’s the loophole that likely led to the horrific deaths of at least 22 seniors.

Chemirmir was convicted of crimes that are deportable offenses even for legal immigrants. He was convicted of two DWIs in 2011 and then an aggravated assault for which he served time in prison in 2016. The assault is a deportable offense, which is why ICE currently has a detainer on him, even though he hasn’t yet been convicted for murder. This means that he could have been removed from the country before the murders were alleged to have occurred. . .

Why are Senate Republicans not holding hearings and voting on bills every day to rectify the national emergency of avoidable murders committed by criminal aliens. As of fiscal year 2019, there were 3.2 million criminal aliens targeted by ICE for deportation, yet they remain in the country, almost all of them out on their own recognizance. There are likely countless other criminal aliens who aren’t even in ICE’s sights, as was the case with Chemirmir earlier last decade.

If Republicans focused on the issue of clearing the country of other countries’ dangerous criminals, they’d easily win the election and save lives. Yet nobody is even discussing one of the most heinous and avoidable mass murders in American history. Will Romney’s Betrayal Finally Get Conservatives Focused on Our Own Priorities?

If you were a conservative with a modicum of influence over Republican voters, would you spend your time on air discussing the Democrat primaries all day, or would you try to influence Republican congressional primaries that will actually matter to conservatives? That is the choice in the coming weeks and months confronting anyone who considers himself a movement conservative.

Conservatives were universally shocked and appalled by Mitt Romney’s vote to convict the president on impeachment charges, thereby giving cover to vulnerable Democrats. However, anyone who has cared about any major policy issue aside form impeachment shouldn’t be shocked at all. They should be appalled that liberal Republicans like Romney, who seem to be numberless, continue to be welcome in the party despite dissenting from the party platform on almost every important issue.

As I wrote last week, Romney was running in an open seat in 2018 and had a challenger from the Utah state legislature who was actually the pick of delegates at the state convention. Trump, as he has done in numerous races, pulled the rug out from under his most ardent supporters and endorsed Romney, even though both his liberal policy views and his personal disdain for Trump were well known and articulated for years.

The question now is whether conservatives and the president himself will learn from these mistakes and actually endorse the right people in primaries. The first GOP primaries begin on March 3 in several states including Alabama, Texas, and North Carolina. Early voting begins even sooner. There are numerous House, Senate, and gubernatorial races that feature clear contrasts between conservatives and Romney-style Republicans. Yet there is no focus in conservative media on these primaries, as Trump endorses NeverTrumpers. Instead, they focus on taking sides between Bernie and Biden.

Just take a look at the opportunities ahead of us this cycle. Here is a list of GOP Senate seats that are either vacant or have weak incumbents, providing us an opportunity to move these seats to the right in solid Trump states.

Look at Tennessee, for example. This is a state Trump carried by 26 points statewide and won 92 of 95 counties. Yet for years, it has been run by “Rockefeller” Romney-style Republicans, from Bill Haslam and Bill Lee as governors to Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander as senators. However, with Alexander retiring, Trump endorsed the most liberal candidate from day one – Bill Hagerty. He was a delegate for Jeb Bush, of all people, during the 2016 presidential primary. Hagerty is also a longtime friend and adviser to … Mitt Romney!

Trump seems to have a penchant for endorsing the most globalist candidates and, of all things, touting them as being “tough on the border and crime,” which are actually the last issues these people will be tough on.

This is not even an incumbent race. Why is Trump so quick to endorse in an open seat against conservatives so early on and on behalf of the very swamp he promised to drain?

Additionally, there are plenty of races where MAGA candidates are likely dissuaded from even entering the race, knowing that Trump will reflexively back the candidates McConnell and McCarthy want, thereby giving them no chance to even mount a campaign.

If every time a RINO feels threatened by a viable challenge, they know that they can count on Trump’s help, this is not only failing to drain the swamp, it’s propping it up against conservatives.

When and how are we ever going to nominate better Republicans?

It’s truly breathtaking to observe the wide gulf between the ideological consistency of members of both parties. Even Democrats deep in “enemy territory” never meaningfully dissent from their party. Both Doug Jones from Alabama and Joe Manchin from West Virginia voted against Kavanaugh and for impeachment. Trump carried those states by 28 and 41 points respectively. Yet the Democrats from those states are dyed-in-the-wool liberals on immigration, health care, transgendersim, judicial nominees, and pretty much anything the Left wants to do.

Contrast that with Republicans, and you’d be hard-pressed to find more than a handful of elected officials even in the friendliest of states who adhere to the conservative position on even a few issues. None of this has changed during the era of Trump, and now, with him lending his golden reputation among primary voters to swamp candidates, they have an easier time getting elected and even re-elected after betraying us.

Conservatives have a choice to make. As February turns into March, each week will bring with it a new act of the drama that is the Democratic primaries. The drama will have no bearing on conservatives, nor can any conservative figure wield any influence over that outcome. The real question is this: Will Republicans finally build a bench of elected officials who will provide a bold contrast to whichever radical emerges from the Democrat primaries?

Time is running out, and the primary schedule is very compact. It’s time to get to work or consign the Republican Party to Mitt Romney and his numerous well-funded allies. Franklin Graham Dropped From All UK Tour Venues for Speaking out Against Homosexuality

The Rev. Franklin Graham, a popular evangelist and son of the late Rev. Billy Graham, is planning a four-month gospel-preaching tour through the United Kingdom this summer. . .

CNN reported that on Wednesday an arena in Newcastle became the seventh and final venue to cancel Graham’s scheduled appearance, following similar cancellations by venues in cities across the U.K., including Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Glasgow. . .

Forbes, who claims that Graham “peddles controversial, repulsive views about LGBT people” said he was “delighted” to hear the news. . .

More than 5,000 people had signed a petition put on by Northern Pride calling for the event to be canceled. The petition argued that Graham has “publicly promoted homophobia.”

Similar protests have erupted in other U.K. cities over recent weeks. In Liverpool, a local gay pride foundation penned a letter to authorities, saying, the evangelist preacher “is well known” for “promoting hate of LGBT+ people” and “openly supporting conversion therapy.” (Read more from “Franklin Graham Dropped From All UK Tour Venues for Speaking out Against Homosexuality” HERE)

Republicans Take Action Against Nancy Pelosi for Tearing up Speech at State of the Union

Republicans took several steps against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for tearing up her official copy of the State of the Union address as a rebuke to President Donald Trump.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) tweeted that he had filed an ethics complaint against the Democratic leader. . .

Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) also introduced a resolution criticizing Pelosi for her act.

“Speaker Pelosi’s actions last night were appalling and shameful,” read a statement from Granger. “Regardless of her personal feelings, she had a responsibility to conduct herself with civility as the presiding officer representing the House of Representatives. She is not the Speaker of the Democrats, but of the People’s House.”

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) tweeted that he introduced a resolution to censure Pelosi.

Ouch: Hillary Goes After Bernie, Says Democrats Need Someone Who Can ACTUALLY Win (VIDEO)

The Democratic establishment has been doing an abysmal job of ensuring Bernie Sanders’ supporters that the primary will be a free and fair election. Between changing debate qualification rules to benefit Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the Iowa caucus disaster, and now former First Lady Hillary Clinton’s repeated swipes at the socialist senator, it’s all beginning to look a little too… well … rigged. . .

Speaking on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Hillary Clinton advised Democratic Party voters who are still on the fence to select someone who can “win” in the general election against President Trump.

“I say two things,” she told Ellen, as reported by The Daily Beast. “I say, vote for the person who you believe can actually win in November. And the person who you think can govern our country. Because somebody has to get in there and try to bring our country together and put us on the right track into the future and restore our democracy and our standing in the world.”

“Who do you think can win?” she asked the voters. “Because if you don’t win, you can’t govern. And who can best govern at a very difficult time in American history.”

Though Hillary did not mention Bernie Sanders by name, Ellen DeGeneres put the crosshairs on the socialist senator when she said, “It seems to me, more than ever, that we need somebody who’s going to go in and be able to steer this ship in the right direction instead of going to the extreme.” (Read more from “Ouch: Hillary Goes After Bernie, Says Democrats Need Someone Who Can ACTUALLY Win” HERE)
