Child Taken into Custody from Border-Crosser After DNA Test Reveals They’re Not Related

U.S. immigration authorities say they have safely brought a child into custody after a DNA proved that he was brought to the border by someone not related to him.

In an Instagram post published Tuesday night, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) showed a picture of a Border Patrol agent holding a small child at a border facility in Texas earlier this month.

“On July 17, McAllen USBP agents encountered a group of 12 people comprised of family units and unaccompanied children who turned themselves in,” the post explains. “Record checks revealed an individual traveling with his alleged son had 2 previous immigration arrests in El Paso Sector just in the past month. Given the recent apprehensions and the age of the child, Agents requested the assistance of [Homeland Security Investigations] to administer a rapid DNA test.”

“The test revealed there is no parent-child relationship,” CBP concluded. “The man admitted he was not the child’s father, but knew the mother and had permission to the take the child. The man admitted that it is common knowledge in Honduras that if you bring a child, you will be released.”

This is far from an isolated incident. When the Department of Homeland Security started rapid DNA tests at the border in May, one official claimed that the pilot program found that 30 percent of tested “family units” turned out to be fake. In June, DNA tests turned up 24 false parental claims in just a few days, according to acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan. Rapid DNA tests even exposed a false parenthood claim of a six-month-old baby in May.

“Our goal with rapid DNA testing remains twofold,” said ICE Homeland Security Investigations Executive Associate Director Derek Benner in a statement last month. “First, to protect children from being smuggled across the border by ensuring they are with their parents and not being used as pawns by individuals attempting to exploit immigration loopholes. Second, to identify and stop the criminal organizations that are generating false documents and supporting child smuggling.”

WATCH: One Issue Had the 2020 Dems at Each Other’s Throats During the Second Debate

By Townhall. We expected health care to be a hot topic at Tuesday night’s Democratic debate in Detroit, and we were wrong. It was on fire. Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) were basically at the throats of the more moderate candidates onstage who questioned their Medicare for All plans.

Rep. John Delaney (D-MD) was on the front lines for the Army of the Moderates. In the beginning stages of the debate, he told Sanders exactly what he thought of his health care idea and how it would boot Americans off their private insurance plans.

“Why do we have to be the party of taking something away from someone?” Delaney wondered. . .

Sanders insisted his idea was sound and that his government option would not only be more moral, but would drive costs down for hospitals and for the middle class. Hospitals will be “better off,” he argued. He would go on to use Canada as an example of a country that’s doing it right and treating health care as a “human right.” . . .

Yet other candidates, like South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg, were also not thrilled with Medicare for All. He had a slightly different idea. Buttigieg’s Medicare for All Who Want It plan would offer a public alternative that would be both “more affordable and more comprehensive” than corporate options, he argued. Warren scolds audience for laughing at story of ALS sufferer in ‘Medicare-for-all’ debate: ‘This isn’t funny’

By Fox News. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., on Tuesday was not happy at the 2020 Democratic debate audience’s reaction to her pulling the debate back to her story of a friend who was suffering from ALS while battling his insurance company — telling the audience “this isn’t funny.”

The moment came during a heated discussion between candidates about the costs and consequences of “Medicare-for-all” policies. Warren, who is a passionate critic of the current private health care system and insurance companies, said she wanted to talk about Ady Barkan — a 35-year-old activist suffers from ALS. Warren said “it’s killing him.”

She said that he had good health insurance but it wasn’t enough for him to get the treatment he needs. But before she could finish her story, she was cut off by CNN moderator Jake Tapper who then asked her about whether she would raise taxes on the middle class to pay for it. . .

Student Allegedly Murdered by Her Boyfriend After Refusing to Have an Abortion

A University of Mississippi college student found dead earlier this month was reportedly pregnant, and her friends believe her ex- boyfriend — who is accused of her murder — killed her after she refused to agree to abort the baby. . .

The body of 21-year-old Alexandria “Ally” Kostial was discovered Saturday morning by police near the Ole Miss campus during a routine patrol, and an investigation led to the arrest on Monday of her on-and-off boyfriend and fellow student, Brandon Theesfeld, according to Business Insider.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail released Tuesday, Kostial’s friends say she was murdered by Theesfeld because she was pregnant with his baby and refused his request that she have an abortion. . .

Another friend told the Mail, “[Kostial] was really upset because she was pregnant and had been trying to [get rid of her child] through unhealthy ways, like going out, drinking a lot and doing drugs. She was 17 weeks pregnant. She was not handling it well. Brandon found out but he was dating someone else. He wanted her to get an abortion. I think morally she didn’t want to do it.” . . .

Kostial was seen on surveillance footage leaving a bar in Oxford, Mississippi, last Friday night, and her roommate confirmed that Kostial made it home a bit after midnight. Her body was found the next day, and KHOU-TV reported that a preliminary autopsy revealed Kostial died from multiple gunshot wounds. True: Free Health Care for Illegal Aliens Would Increase Illegal Immigration

Montana Governor Steve Bullock pushed back against Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and others who supported free health care for illegal aliens, saying that doing so would create additional incentives for people to cross the border illegally.

Bullock said: “The discussion … shows how often these debates are detached from people’s lives. We got a hundred thousand people showing up at the border right now. If we decriminalize entry, if we give health care to everyone, we’ll have multiples of that. Don’t take my word — that was President Obama’s homeland security secretary that said that.”

Indeed, former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson did say that — at least on the topic of decriminalization, as the Washington Post noted earlier this month:

That is tantamount to declaring publicly that we have open borders,” said Jeh Johnson, who ran the Department of Homeland Security during President Barack Obama’s second term. “That is unworkable, unwise and does not have the support of a majority of American people or the Congress, and if we had such a policy, instead of 100,000 apprehensions a month, it will be multiples of that.”

After Bullock, Rep. Tim Ryan added: “If you want to come into the country, you should at least ring the doorbell. … Everyone else in America is paying for their health care. ‘Saint Buttigieg’ Quotes Bible to Shame ‘So-Called Christians’ on Minimum Wage

By Breitbart. Mayor Pete Buttigieg scorned Christian Republicans on Tuesday for opposing a guaranteed $15 an hour minimum wage for workers proposed by Congressional Democrats.

“The minimum wage is just too low, and so-called conservative Christian senators right now in the Senate are blocking a bill to raise the minimum wage, when Scripture says that whoever oppresses the poor taunts their maker,” he said, citing the book of Proverbs.

The South Bend mayor criticized Republicans during the CNN Democrat Debate on Tuesday as the candidates discussed the loss of manufacturing jobs in Michigan.

5 Fights at the Democratic Debate

By NBC News. The health care debate within the debate centered on whether to pursue a single-payer Medicare For All system favored by Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., or an alternative that preserves competing private plans.

The more moderate candidates made the case that Americans wanted to have a choice of private insurance, with some like Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, and former Rep. John Delaney mentioning unions that had negotiated specific plans. . .

Similar to the first Democratic debate last month, the disagreement on immigration centered on a proposal put forward by former HUD Secretary Julian Castro that would make illegally crossing the border a civil rather than criminal offense.

Warren argued it would remove a legal basis for President Donald Trump to prosecute parents of children crossing the border and consequently separate families. “We need to continue to have border security and we can do that, but what we can’t do is not live our values,” she said. . .

The candidates agreed that they needed significant government action to confront climate change, but differed over the particulars of the Green New Deal, a resolution put forward by Rep. Ethiopia Plants a Record 350 Million Trees in 12 Hours

Ethiopia may have set a world record by planting 350 million trees in 12 hours on Monday as part of its plan to fight climate change and deforestation.

The effort is part of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s “Green Legacy” campaign to plant four billion trees between May and October this year to restore Ethiopia’s landscape. . .

Reports state that the “campaign wants every Ethiopian to plant 40 seedlings during the rainy season, which runs from May to October. In the end, the country will have 4 billion indigenous trees to help mitigate the effects of the global climate crisis.” . . .

“#GreenLegacy, is an ambitious undertaking to become a green society by planting various types of eco-friendly seedling to combat environmental degradation and, a national platform that will be used for various societal green activities,” the website says.

Why Hong Kong Protesters Wave the American Flag

. . .Since starting their demonstrations seven weeks ago against a controversial extradition bill that threatened to undermine the city-state’s democracy, the protesters in Hong Kong have raised many different flags to represent their cause. Often times those are variants of the flag of the city-state — a stylized, white five-petal flower from the Hong Kong orchid tree on a red background. One commonly used variant is the same flag but with wilted petals behind a black background, threatening imagery of democracy under attack.

But on rare occasions, the protesters raised the Star-Spangled Banner while marching through the streets of Hong Kong.

The Hongkongers are raising the Stars-and-Stripes to appeal to the United States to take action, according to a few of the flag-carriers.

One person carrying the U.S. flag interviewed by Asia Times noted that he wants to “urge the U.S. Congress to pass the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act as soon as possible.” The proposed legislation, if passed, will impose sanctions on individuals from the mainland and the city-state who violated human rights and require the U.S. government to annually review whether Hong Kong is democratic enough to merit lucrative U.S. trade privileges not afforded to the rest of China. . .

The protester allegedly said he wants to wave the U.S. flag — an act sure to infuriate the Chinese government already irritated by the protracted demonstration in Hong Kong — to invite a Chinese military crackdown that will hopefully provoke the United States into taking more concrete action. Federal Judge Took Democrats’ Russia Collusion Lawsuit Against the Trump Campaign to the Woodshed

. . .Back to the lawsuit, the judge was quite clear, there was no wrongdoing on behalf of the Trump campaign since they didn’t break any laws concerning obtaining the information from the Wikileaks dump. Those emails from John Podesta and the Clinton campaign aired out a lot of dirty laundry and made things quite awkward on the eve of their 2016 convention in Philadelphia. In short, the judge, a Clinton appointee, took a hatchet to the Democrats’ case, saying it was divorced from the facts (via Fox News):

A federal judge in frank terms Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) against key members of the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks over hacked DNC documents, saying they “did not participate in any wrongdoing in obtaining the materials in the first place” and therefore bore no legal liability for disseminating the information.

The ruling came as Democrats increasingly have sought to tie the Trump team to illegal activity in Russia, in spite of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s findings that the campaign in fact refused multiple offers by Russians to involve them in hacking and disinformation efforts.

The DNC asserted in court filings that the Trump team’s meetings “with persons connected to the Russian government during the time that the Russian GRU agents were stealing the DNC’s information” were “circumstantial evidence” that they were conspiring with the Russians to “steal and disseminate the DNC’s materials.”

U.S. Soccer Releases ‘Fact Sheet’ Showing Women’s Team Actually Lost Millions yet Was Still Paid More Than Men’s Team

The President of the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) released a “fact sheet” Monday night alleging that, contrary to claims made as part of a lawsuit, the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) actually lost the federation millions of dollars. Despite this, the president claimed, women soccer players still out-earned their male counterparts. . .

Now USSF President Carlos Cordeiro is pushing back. He wrote an open letter explaining that he directed U.S. Soccer staff to conduct “an extensive analysis of the pa st 10 years of U.S. Soccer’s financials.” He said the analysis was “reviewed by an independent accounting firm.” The analysis showed that the women’s team was paid more than the men’s team.

The fact sheet includes bulleted information about the different pay structures for the men’s and women’s teams. USSF claimed that it paid “women $34.1 million in salaries and game bonuses and we paid our men $26.4 million — not counting the significant additional value of various benefits that our women’s players receive but which our men do not.”

For example, the women’s team has a guaranteed salary thanks to their collective bargaining agreement with USSF. They receive a base salary of $100,000 each year and an additional salary of $67,500 to $72,500 for playing in the National Women’s Soccer League. Male soccer players do not have such an agreement.

That agreement means women soccer players earn a guaranteed salary of $167,500 to $172,500 each year. On top of that, they are paid bonuses. The men’s team only earns bonuses. Yes, those bonuses can be larger, but that’s because they don’t have the guaranteed base salary. The women’s team, according to USSF, also receives benefits including a 401(k) plan and health insurance, as well as maternity leave and injury protection. Watch: Candidate Snubs National Anthem at Democrat Primary Debate

Kicking off Tuesday’s Democratic primary debate hosted by CNN, presidential candidate Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) refused to hold his hand over his heart during the playing of our national anthem. He was the only candidate on stage to do so.

Democrats have largely supported national anthem protest by famous athletes, such as former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who claims he took a knee to protest rampant racism and police brutality. However, the ex-NFL’er recently worked to have Nike cancel a pair of Revolution Era, Betsy Ross-style American flag shoes, revealing that he actually has an issue with the flag.
