Watch Your Kids: Pediatrician Finds Wrist-Slitting Suicide Tip Spliced Into Video on YouTube Kids App

By The Blaze. A Florida pediatrician found a suicide tip spliced in the middle of a video posted to the YouTube Kids app, WFTX-TV reported.

The clip is of a popular Nintendo game called Splatoon, CBS News said — except for an unrelated portion in the middle showing a person saying, “Remember kids, sideways for attention, longways for results. End it.”

According to the Washington Post, the person appeared to be holding an imaginary blade to the inside of his arm. His “longways” motion went from the bottom of his hand and down his forearm toward his elbow. . .

It’s hard to say what happened to the video, as it appears to have been taken down and re-uploaded numerous times.

As recently as Sunday, Hess noted on her Facebook page that she recorded a version of the clip “directly from YouTube Kids” that very afternoon. Horrified Mom Discovers Suicide Instructions in Video on YouTube and YouTube Kids

By CBS News. Video promoting self-harm tips — spliced between clips of a popular video game — has surfaced at least twice on YouTube and YouTube Kids since July, according to a pediatrician and mom who discovered the video.

The suicide instructions are sandwiched between clips from the popular Nintendo game Splatoon and delivered by a man speaking in front of what appears to be a green screen — an apparent effort to have him blend in with the rest of the animated video. . .

The man featured is YouTuber Filthy Frank, who has over 6.2 million subscribers and calls himself “the embodiment of everything a person should not be,” although there is no evidence that Frank, whose real name is George Miller, was involved in creating the doctored video. He did not immediately respond to CBS News’ request for comment.

When Free Hess found the video on YouTube last week, she posted it on her blog — warning other parents to take control over what their kids may be watching. . . .

Hess said she spotted another version of the same video on YouTube Kids in July last year. She said she and many other parents from Facebook groups came together to report it, and the video was eventually taken down after one parent directly contacted an employee at Google. Google has not responded to CBS News’ inquiry about the steps that led to the video’s removal. WATCH: Rapper Trolls Leftists by DESTROYING Women’s Deadlift Record ‘as a Woman’

British rapper Zuby conducted an experiment Tuesday on Twitter, challenging the new idea that there are no inherent gender differences by doing a live weightlifting demonstration where he, “identifying as a woman,” broke the British women’s deadlift record.

“I keep hearing about how biological men don’t have any physical strength advantage over women in 2019,” Zuby tweeted, referring to a series of recent articles insisting that male-to-female transgender individuals have “female penises,” and that there’s no inherent gender differences between men and women that should keep male-to-female transgender individuals from competing against natural-born women in athletic events. . .

Don’t worry. Zuby assured his viewers that everything was fine because, while he was deadlifting, he personally identified as a woman, making him eligible to challenge the women’s record.

The bench press record fell immediately. Zuby, “identifying as a woman,” was able to surpass the best female British athlete by a wide margin, and he was able to do it, as he put it, while looking “strong, stunning, and brave” — just as Serena Williams described female athletes in a confusing Nike commercial, promoting female athletes competing against men, that aired during the Academy Awards.

Sad: People Search Garbage Truck for Food in Socialist Venezuela

By Daily Wire. Starving Venezuelans rummaged through a trash truck this week in a search for food, following Venezuela’s collapse due to its socialist policies.

“Amid the increasingly dire situation in Venezuela, Univision’s left-leaning anchor Jorge Ramos traveled into the rapidly imploding socialist country for an interview Monday with dictator Nicolas Maduro,” The Daily Wire reported. “But after Ramos said he took the conversation in a direction Maduro didn’t appreciate, things quickly devolved, resulting in Ramos and his team having all their equipment confiscated and a frightening two-hour encounter with agents.”

In a video posted on the “Real American with Jorge Ramos” Facebook page, Ramos “said the last straw for Maduro was when the Mexican-American journalist held up his iPad and showed him footage he had filmed himself of three children on the streets of Venezuela rummaging through the back of a garbage truck for scraps of food,” Fox News reported.

“He just couldn’t stand it,” Ramos said. “He didn’t want to continue the interview. He tried to close my iPad. They confiscated all of our cameras, all our videos.”

“He didn’t like the things we were asking, about the lack of democracy in Venezuela, the torture of political prisoners, about the humanitarian crisis that they are living,” Ramos later told Univision. “I told Nicolas Maduro that millions of Venezuelans and many governments in the world do not consider him a legitimate president and they consider him to be a dictator.”

Venezuela Soldiers Who Choose Defection Hope More Join Their Ranks

A high-stakes plan by the Venezuelan opposition to bring humanitarian aid into the country floundered Saturday when troops loyal to Maduro refused to let the trucks carrying food and medical supplies cross, but it did set off a wave of military defections unlike any seen yet amid the country’s mounting crisis. Over 320 mostly low-ranking soldiers fled in a span of four days, Colombian immigration officials said Tuesday.

With no relatives in Colombia, several dozen have ended up in a shelter run by a priest. The home on a street with low-hanging electrical wires is where they are nervously keeping track of relatives left behind, figuring out how to apply for asylum and deciding what should come next. . .

In interviews with The Associated Press, nine National Guard soldiers described the day that they were ordered by commanders to stop the humanitarian aid from entering Venezuela. Fearful of being jailed, many complied with orders and admitted to launching tear gas at protesters. Two said they were part of a failed plot to get the aid in. Speaker Removes Democrat Involved in ‘N-Word’ Scandal From Leadership Post

By Daily Wire. Maryland Democrat House Speaker Michael Busch removed Democrat Delegate Mary Ann Lisanti from a leadership position she held on a subcommittee after she apologized for allegedly referring to a majority-black county as a “n****r district.”

“Lisanti, a Democrat from Harford County, told reporters she would issue a statement later in the day,” the Associated Press reported. “She apologized to the House Democratic Caucus Tuesday morning, after apologizing to leaders of the state’s Legislative Black Caucus on Monday.”

In a statement, Lisanti said: “I am sickened that a word that is not in my vocabulary came out of my mouth. It does not represent my belief system, my life’s work or what is my heart.”

Lisanti also apologized to “the citizens of my district, people of Maryland, all of my colleagues in the Maryland General Assembly and everyone reading this for my word choice several weeks ago.”

“This morning, Delegate Mary Ann Lisanti apologized to the House Democratic Caucus for her use of the n-word. Maryland Delegate Loses Leadership Position Over Racial Slur

By NBC Miami. A white Maryland lawmaker lost her leadership position Tuesday after using a racial slur for black people at an after-hours gathering at a cigar store in the state capital.

Del. Mary Ann Lisanti, a 51-year-old Democrat in her second term representing Harford County northeast of Baltimore, apologized to the Maryland House Democratic Caucus on Tuesday. A day earlier she issued an apology to leaders of the state’s Legislative Black Caucus.

Del. Darryl Barnes, the caucus chairman, described the apology as “woefully inadequate” and urged House Speaker Michael Busch, in a letter, to discipline the delegate. . .

The Washington Post was first to report Monday that Lisanti allegedly used the slur late last month during a gathering with fellow legislators to refer to Prince George’s County, which is majority black. Asked about it by the newspaper earlier this month, the Post reported that she said: “I don’t recall that … I don’t recall much of that evening.”

Murkowski to Vote for Resolution Blocking Trump’s Emergency Declaration

By The Hill. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said Tuesday that she will support a resolution blocking President Trump’s emergency declaration to construct the U.S.-Mexico border wall. . .

The House is expected to pass a resolution of disapproval to block the national emergency declaration later Tuesday, kicking the vote to the Senate.

Democrats will need four Republicans to vote with them to pass the resolution through the Senate, where they need only a simple majority.

So far, three GOP senators are viewed as “yes” votes: Murkowski and Sens. Thom Tillis (N.C.) and Susan Collins (Maine).

Collins told reporters in Maine last week that she would support a clean resolution to block Trump’s emergency declaration. Tillis wrote in a Washington Post op-ed released on Monday night that he would also vote for the resolution. Woman Who Assaulted Man in MAGA Hat Is a Illegal Alien

By Breitbart. A Brazilian national arrested for allegedly assaulting a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat was in the U.S. illegally, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials said.

ICE agents took Rosiane Santos, 41, into custody on Tuesday after finding out she was residing in the U.S. illegally, and she is now facing deportation, Boston 25 News reported.

“Deportation officers with ICE’s Fugitive Operations Team arrested Rosie Santos, an unlawfully present citizen of Brazil,” ICE said in a statement. “Santos is facing local charges for assault and other offenses. She is presently in ICE custody and has been entered into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts.”

Santos, who resided in Falmouth, Massachusetts, had been arrested by police several days earlier on charges of assault, battery, and disorderly conduct for allegedly harassing and assaulting a 23-year-old man wearing the the Trump campaign’s signature red MAGA cap. . .

The Brazilian national, who pleaded not guilty to the charges against her at a Wednesday court hearing before the judge released her on her own recognizance, claimed she was actually “the victim” of the incident because she felt “discriminated” against. 81-Year-Old Man Wearing MAGA Hat Attacked in NJ Supermarket

By NBC New York. An 81-year-old man was attacked in a New Jersey supermarket after someone confronted him about the MAGA hat he was wearing, prosecutors say.

The Franklin Township resident was shopping at a store on Elizabeth Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Monday when someone confronted him about the hat, Somerset County prosecutors said Tuesday.

A law enforcement source told News 4 the attack happened at the ShopRite of Somerset on Elizabeth Avenue. The store’s employees couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

Al-Qaeda Still Using CIA-Provided Missiles in Syria

Video posted online Monday shows the al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), using U.S.-supplied TOW missiles in its ongoing campaign against Assad regime forces in the northern province of Idlib. The video was published by Ebaa News, with claims that the target was a group of Syrian soldiers:

The incident took place in Abu Duhur, and the video claims that eight soldiers were killed. The missile appears to be a BGM-71D/E TOW of the variety that the CIA had provided to “vetted” Syrian groups prior to July 2017.

The spillage of weapons provided by the CIA and the Pentagon to so-called “moderate” rebel forces in Syria, only to fall into the hands of terrorist groups like HTS and ISIS, was perhaps the most predictable outcome of the civil war. One of the first actions taken by the Trump administration two years ago was to halt the CIA weapons program, which prompted many of the U.S.-backed groups to flock to al-Qaeda. The CIA program supporting the Syrian “rebels” was shut down entirely in July 2017. When President Trump shut down the program, both the Washington Post and the New York Times claimed that the move would aid Russia:

Massive Bank Denies Service to Conservatives

Activist Laura Loomer, who has already been banned by PayPal, claims she had her account suspended by Chase Bank. . .

Enrique Tarrio, the black leader of the Proud Boys, a group that has laughably been branded a white supremacist organization by liberals, was also suspended by Chase. So was Martina Markota. And Joe Biggs, who made enough of a stink that Chase reluctantly gave him his account back.

Banking is one of the most heavily regulated industries in America for a good reason – and it’s not just because the bankers can steal your money. The idea that citizens could be cut off from using a bank because of their political views is extremely dangerous. Imagine going to your bank and being told to produce your voter registration before you’re allowed to open an account or get a credit card. If Chase is allowed to do this, we are taking a step into that world. A world where your political views could keep you from being able to get credit or run a business. Certainly, there are an awful lot of liberals who would love to see us enter a world like that. In fact, there was a column in the New York Times last year calling for weaponizing the financial industry in exactly this way to shut down the gun industry as part of an effort to deny Americans their Second Amendment rights.

Republicans in the Senate should demand that Chase executives come before them and answer some hard questions about targeting customers for their political views. Maybe we need to rewrite banking regulations to make sure this kind of discrimination can’t occur. I tell you what’s not a “maybe”: Republicans in Congress should at least let banks know that they are paying attention to this issue and that there could be rather severe consequences for Chase or, alternately, for the whole industry if this practice spreads.

You may have heard someone say, “the Constitution is not a suicide pact.” I would add to that “capitalism is not a suicide pact.” Breaking up monopolies is a conservative idea with a long track record. Protecting middle-class citizens from the abuses of corporations that are targeting them unfairly is not something conservatives have historically shied away from doing when it was needed. Guns, Ammo, and Tactical Gear: Oh My! Here’s How Much Firepower Swamp Agencies Have Stockpiled

As you get ready to file those tax forms before the annual April deadline, it might interest you to know that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) currently has 15 submachine guns and around five million rounds of ammunition at its disposal.

And while those numbers might seem shocking to many, the IRS isn’t the only federal agency with a stockpile. According to a GAO report from December, a lot of federal agencies have a lot of firepower.

A recent article by Adam Andrzejewski, founder and CEO of Open the Books, a transparency nonprofit, points out some rather eye-popping procurements by federal agencies over the past decade.

The IRS currently has 4,461 guns, including 621 shotguns, 539 rifles, and those 15 submachine guns. The Department of Health and Human Services has over one million rounds of ammunition stockpiled for use.

The VA doesn’t just have red tape and long waiting times, it turns out. The agency also purchased almost 3,000 rounds for each of its almost 4,000 police officers between 2010 and 2017. The agency also has camouflage uniforms, riot gear, and “tactical lighting.”

In total, the GAO report lists “at least $1.5 billion in total” spending on ammunition, firearms, and tactical equipment between the 20 agencies it surveyed from fiscal years 2010 through 2017.

But while the title of Andrzejewski’s post asks why President Trump’s federal agencies have been stockpiling these weapons and ammunition, a great many of the purchases were made during the Obama administration.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the numbers by year, according to Appendix II of the GAO report:

While the IRS hasn’t spent any funds on new hardware since 2014, the agency’s ammunition purchases held somewhat steady into 2017.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s hardware purchases spiked in 2013, 2014, and 2016, but show very little for 2017.

VA law enforcement purchases showed a 2017 spike, though there were steady purchases and a 2011 spike during the Obama years.

HHS has two departments that have purchased munitions: The National Institutes of Health, which saw a spike in firearms buying in 2017, and and the Office of Inspector General, which did almost all of its recent gun shopping between 2010 and 2012.

Furthermore, the same section also outlines why each department and agency listed claims to need the firepower, though some information was deemed “sensitive” by HHS, the IRS, and the Transportation Security Administration and was redacted from the report’s original version.

Why do agencies have all this firepower? According to the report, each of these different agencies has its own federal law enforcement officers (FLEOs). For instance, the EPA’s police program “enforces the nations’ laws by investigating cases, collecting evidence, conducting forensic analyses; and provides legal guidance to assist with prosecutions.” The VA’s police force “Protects veterans by enforcing federal law at VA medical facilities (and some National Cemetery and Benefits locations) and by serving as initial response forces to active threat incidents.” And the NIH has guns to protect “our country’s scientific research and the NIH research community.”

Those explanations may or may not be reassuring to the small-government-minded, who might be coming down with an understandable case of the heebie-jeebies at this point.

Questions such as whether regulatory agencies require their own specific law enforcement capabilities, how much oversight Congress takes over these weapons purchases, and whether or not agencies should be limited in the amount of ammunition they can stockpile at a given time are all fair game. And they should be asked. Do you have to be concerned about a martial law crackdown to wonder if federal agencies stocked on firepower are a good thing? Researchers Found Spider Fossils From ‘110 Million Years’ Ago. The Eyes Still Glowed

A collection of spider fossils was discovered in South Korea, including two with eyes that appeared to glow, according to a study. . .

Researchers say two of the fossils of the spider family Lagonomegopidae, believed to have lived 110 million to 113 million years ago, have reflective eyes that were helpful for hunting at night. . .

“Because these spiders were preserved in strange slivery flecks on dark rock, what was immediately obvious was their rather large eyes brightly marked with crescentic features,” Paul Selden, a professor of geology and director of the Paleontological Institute at the University of Kansas’ Biodiversity Institute and Natural History Museum, said in a statement.

The study was completed in collaboration with a researcher at the Korea Polar Research Institute and a high school teacher with the Daejeon Science High School for the Gifted in South Korea who discovered the fossils. . .

“It has to be a very special situation where they were washed into a body of water,” he said. “Normally, they’d float.
