The Vindictive Gay Couple in the Masterpiece Cakeshop Case Richly Deserved to Lose

Today the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Jack Phillips, the Colorado baker who refused to make a cake for a gay wedding.

I wish I could say the ruling was a huge win for the First Amendment. All I can say is that it was not necessarily a loss for the First Amendment. A win would have been a decision affirming an individual’s right to operate his business, and create art, in accordance with his sincerely held religious beliefs. The 7-2 decision passed down by the Court this morning does not offer any precedent so sweeping or important as that. Instead it finds, in this specific case, that the baker’s rights were violated because the Colorado Civil Rights Commission showed open hostility to Phillips’ religious convictions. But what if they were more subtle in their hostility? What if a Christian business owner is targeted by cleverer bullies? What about all of the other Christian business owners who have been legally penalized for refraining from participating in gay weddings? This decision has nothing to say on any of those questions. This salvo from the fascist gay Left was blocked, but there is nothing stopping them from firing another round. And then another. And then another. The fight continues.

But even if the Court basically punted on the broader questions, it is still good to pause and appreciate the fact that the innocent victim won in this case and the vindictive bullies lost. The Colorado Civil Rights Commission clearly bullied Phillips and sought to punish him for his religious views, even at one point comparing his cake refusal to the Holocaust. They have now been thoroughly humiliated, and I imagine they will face considerable backlash from their fellow liberals for squandering a golden opportunity. This is all worth celebrating. . .

Remember that Jack Phillips was well known for his devout Christian beliefs before that fateful day when Mullins and Craig walked in the door. Phillips would regularly refuse to create customized cakes for events he found morally problematic. Yet, of all the bakers in the area, these two gay men just so happened to seek the services of the one baker who was so orthodox that he wouldn’t even make Halloween cakes. It does not take much of a logical leap to see that this was quite intentional.

It is said that Phillips “refused to serve” Mullins and Craig. That’s not true. He offered to sell them any item in the store. He would have even sold them a wedding cake. The only thing he would not do — could not do – was customize one. So, the gay men could have simply purchased a standard wedding cake. Or they could have left the store and gone to literally any other bakery in the state. Decent human beings would select either of those two options. But Mullins and Craig are not decent human begins. They opted for option three: set out on a years-long process to utterly destroy Jack Phillips, take down his business, and impoverish his family. Mother of 16-Year-Old Girl Butchered by MS-13 Says Trump Didn’t Go Far Enough With ‘Animals’ Comment

President Donald Trump was absolutely skewered in the media for calling MS-13 gang members “animals”… but the mother of a teenage girl who was murdered by that group believes he didn’t go far enough. . .

Now, the grieving mother of one of that gang’s victims is pushing back against the liberal media, and siding with Trump’s tough words. . .

Rodriguez’s 16-year-old daughter Kayla Cuevas was brutally beaten to death by MS-13 gang members in New York two years ago. Another girl was also killed at the same time, and authorities found that three of the four Mara Salvatrucha suspects were illegal aliens.

“(MS-13 is) the demon itself,” Rodriguez said. “When you look at these individuals, it’s just seeing darkness. There’s nothing there.” . . .

Underage sex trafficking is also part of the gang’s activities, making Trump’s comment seem rather tame. When victims of sex slavery don’t comply, brutal beatings and even more unspeakable acts are often the result. Liberal Town Tells Business to Remove ‘Excessive’ American Flags. Now the Business Is Fighting Back.

To honor veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice, employees at Laer Reality in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, placed 200 American flags in the grass in the front of their office, which lay adjacent to a busy intersection. . .

The business didn’t hear anything negative until Friday, according to Crandall, who said when he showed up to work on Friday there was a note on the door from the city about the flags.

The note explained the business had violated the town’s code for “excessive flags,” and requested the business remove the majority of the flags, so only a “reasonable” amount remained. . .

Instead of removing flags, the business added about 300 more. Now, about 500 flags are prominently displaced in front of the business.

“We feel this is a patriotic act. It’s not about our business. It’s about supporting our troops, supporting veterans,” Crandall said. “I think the flags speak for themselves. Convicted Felon Threatens Concealed Carry Holder With Gun. It Doesn’t End Well for the Criminal.

Florida police are investigating a shooting outside a Cape Coral business after a law abiding concealed carry permit holder defended himself and another man from an armed felon. . .

Cape Coral Police were called to a local roofing business Friday afternoon where they discovered 29-year-old Kevin Bruzos injured with multiple gunshot wounds. Bruzos is a convicted felon.

According to police, Bruzos threatened a man at the business with a firearm, left and returned where he threatened the same man again as well as another man. The second man was licensed to carry a concealed weapon — and he was.

The man with the concealed weapon drew his firearm and ordered Bruzos to drop his. However, instead of complying with the man’s orders, Bruzos pointed his weapon at the armed citizen, leaving the man with no choice but to neutralize the threat. He reportedly shot Bruzos multiple times, but not fatally. . .

Bruzos is “charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon,” according to police. Drum Roll, Please: Survey Asks Millennials If They’d Date a Trump Supporter or an MS-13 Gang Member

The Dally Caller did a random survey on the streets of Washington, D.C., last week to ask people if they would rather date a Trump supporter or an MS-13 gang member. . .

The interviewers captured several people saying they’d rather date an MS-13 gang member. Hopefully, some of them were being sarcastic. Others said “neither,” when asked which they would choose. A couple of people did not know what MS-13 means. . .

Trump has repeatedly called MS-13 members “violent animals,” a fitting label given their list of alleged crimes. He has also used examples of the gang’s violence to support the case for having a secure border.

The president was recently blasted in the mainstream media for calling the gang members “animals.” Although Trump was specifically referring to violent criminals, his words were twisted to make it sound like he meant all immigrants.

‘Early Abortion Training Guide’ Trains Docs to Persuade Women to Have Abortions

The University of California-San Francisco’s think-tank for “reproductive rights” is training future abortionists on how to steer “ambivalent” pregnant women toward having an abortion.

The “Early Abortion Training Guide” was published by the UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health, which sponsors annual fellowships for abortionists at 30 colleges across the United States, as Campus Reform reported Wednesday.

Though the majority of the guide focuses on the medical process of performing an abortion, a section on “Pregnancy Options Counseling Techniques” suggests that abortionists should encourage women to “reconcile” their hesitations about abortion.

“People of all faiths and religions have abortions. You do not need any background in religious or spiritual matters to talk to patients about abortion,” the guide tells doctors, suggesting a variety of pro-abortion phrases that they can employ if a patient is reluctant to terminate her pregnancy.

Bernie Sanders Takes Aim at Disney, Gives Us a Look Into What His America Would Look Like

By Bizpac Review. City officials with the California town of Anaheim blasted failed Democrat presidential candidate and socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders this Saturday after he rallied with Disneyland workers to demand higher wages for them.

“While touting himself as a friend of the working man, Bernie has come all this way to support a measure that will result in thousands of lost jobs for the people of Anaheim,” Todd Ament, the CEO of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, reportedly said in a written statement.

Sponsored by a coalition of local unions, the November ballot measure referenced by Ament would force Disney and other large employers that accept “subsidies” from Anaheim to pay their employees a minimum of $15 an hour starting in 2019. They would then be required to raise their minimum wage by $1 per year until 2022.

Sanders made it clear during a speech at Saturday’s rally that he fervently supports this initiative: “The struggle that you are waging here in Anaheim is not just for you. It is a struggle for millions of workers all across this country who are sick and tired of working longer hours for lower wages,” he said. . .

The casual dining franchise Red Robin laid off hundreds of workers earlier this year in response to minimum wage hikes in localities across the country. Three years ago the coffeehouse chain Dunkin’ Donuts likewise began shuttering 100 locations because of minimum wage increases. Bernie Sanders: Disney Needs ‘Moral Defense’ for Having Hungry Workers While Making Billions

By The Hill. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) lambasted Walt Disney Co. on Saturday for making billions of dollars in profits while failing to pay workers “a living wage.”

At a rally in Anaheim, Calif., Sanders demanded a “moral defense” for Disney and other billion-dollar corporations that pay their executives high salaries but have made efforts to avoid raising other workers’ salaries.

“I want to hear the moral defense of a company that makes $9 billion in profits, $400 million for their CEOs and have a 30-year worker going hungry,” Sanders told the crowd.

“The struggle that you are waging here in Anaheim is not just for you,” Sanders said. “It is a struggle for millions of workers all across this country who are sick and tired of working longer hours for lower wages.”

Sanders was joined on stage by members of a coalition of unions that had gathered about 21,000 signatures to qualify for the November municipal ballot that seeks to require large employers who receive government subsidies to maintain a $15 minimum wage. Millennial Who Refused to Move out of Parents’ Calls Cops on Dad for Crazy Reason

A 30-year-old man who made headlines last week after he was ordered by a judge to vacate his parents’ New York home has officially left the residence, but not before calling the police on his father regarding some missing Legos. . .

Rotondo waved to journalists as he loaded his creaky station wagon with his belongings. The millennial told reporters he called police Friday morning because he believed his 8-year-old son’s Legos were in the basement and his father would not let him look for them. Instead, the father offered to look for specific items and, if he found them, bring them out. The Legos were found after police arrived. . .

Rotondo refused the judge’s request to work things out directly with his parents, who sat quietly nearby. He failed to persuade the judge to grant him another six months with his parents and was ordered to leave.

The eviction drama began on Feb. 2 when the parents left their first note, saying Michael had two weeks to vacate his room at the family’s Camillus home. Rotondo did not take the threat seriously and his parents brought him to court.

On Friday, Rotondo stood outside the place he once called home but had some trouble before then. His car, which has a broken coolant system, took a few tries to start. During his car trouble, he told reporters he said goodbye “more or less” to his parents before jumping into his rumbling station wagon. Bill Clinton Says This Is the Reason Why Obama Was Treated Different Than Trump

Bill Clinton Says Impeachment Hearings Would Have Begun Already If a Democrat Were President

By Fox News. Former President Bill Clinton argued Sunday that impeachment hearings would already be in full swing if a Democrat were in the Oval Office and if the special counsel’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election were as deep as it is now.

“I think if the roles were reversed — now, this is me just talking, but it’s based on my experience — if it were a Democratic president, and these facts were present, most people I know in Washington believe impeachment hearings would have begun already,” Clinton told “CBS Sunday Morning.”

Clinton, who appeared alongside James Patterson to promote the political thriller “The President is Missing” that the two penned together, noted that these are “serious issues” that the country is facing.

So far, the special counsel’s investigation, which is headed up by former FBI director Robert Mueller, has charged 19 people – including three former campaign aides of President Trump – along with three companies, and has received five guilty pleas. Perhaps the most high-profile of those guilty pleas came from Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
