Priest Calls out Catholic Senators Who Protect Late-Term Abortion

An outspoken Roman Catholic priest is drawing attention to 14 confessing Catholics in the U.S. Senate who helped reject a bill that would have outlawed abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, calling on their bishops and parish priests to rebuke the lawmakers.

Father Dwight Longenecker wrote on his blog that he was “absolutely shocked” when the bill to ban “barbaric, inhumane” late-term abortions was rejected Jan. 29. And he found it “even more shocking” that the legislation would have proceeded to a vote and likely passed if not for the fact that 14 Catholic senators voted to block it, including Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin of Illinois and Tim Kaine of Virginia, and Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine.

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, by a 51-46 vote, fell short of the 60 votes required for the Senate to break a Democratic filibuster. The premise of the bill was that the fetus is capable of feeling pain during an abortion at 20 weeks.

“Today is the day for their bishops to issue a formal statement acknowledging that these men and women have publicly denied their Catholic faith, and if not formally, then have informally excommunicated themselves,” Longenecker said, as LifeNews.com was first to report.

Man Took Dismembered Body in Suitcase on Train

A homeless man killed his wife in an abandoned California restaurant, dismembered her body and carried it aboard a light-rail train in a suitcase before burning her remains outside a home improvement store, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.

Investigators believe Valentino Gutierrez killed his wife last week in Pasadena, Deputy Chief Justin Eisenberg said.

He took the train a few stops then rode his bicycle — with the suitcase in tow — to the parking lot of a Home Depot in the Cypress Park neighborhood, where he set the suitcase ablaze, Eisenberg said. (Read more from “Man Took Dismembered Body in Suitcase on Train” HERE)

When she took to the House floor on Wednesday for a filibuster-style speech, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi thanked illegal aliens for having the “courage” to bring their children illegally into the United States.

During Pelosi’s remarks, she portrayed the parents of “Dreamers” as victims who have had to endure much “risk” to bring their families illegally into the country.

“I say to their parents: Thank you for bringing these Dreamers to America. We’re in your debt for the courage it took, for you to take the risk, physically, politically, in every way, to do so,” Pelosi said.

Top Trump Official: Chuck Schumer to Blame Following Spate of Deadly Amtrak Crashes

A senior Department of Transportation official derided Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Wednesday for his refusal to confirm the nation’s top railroad safety regulator and suggested the partisan obstruction is placing rail passengers at risk.

Ronald Batory, a 40-year railroad industry veteran, was unanimously approved to lead the Federal Railway Administration by the Senate Commerce Committee in August, but Schumer has since blocked his confirmation twice, in an admitted effort to secure federal funding to revamp a rail tunnel linking New York and New Jersey.

Deputy Secretary of Transportation Jeff Rosen, who sent a letter to Schumer Jan. 31 urging him to confirm Batory, told The Daily Caller News Foundation Schumer’s behavior is unacceptable considering the scourge of recent rail accidents.

“He was unwilling to put safety first,” Rosen said of Schumer’s December objection to Batory’s confirmation, which occurred in the immediate aftermath of the tragic Washington State Amtrak derailment that resulted in three dead, 70 injured, and cost over $40 million in repairs.

“At that time, Sen. Thune, who chairs the Commerce committee, said months have gone by and now we’re dealing with the aftermath of this tragedy, it’s time to confirm Ron Batory, and he asked for unanimous consent,” Rosen recounted, and congressional records confirm. “Senator Schumer stood up and just said ‘I object’ and then he walked away and didn’t elaborate. So he didn’t say when he objected what the grounds were. It’s inexplicable that after those months and after the tragedy he was unwilling to put safety first but he didn’t give the rationale.”

The January Virginia crash was followed by another deadly crash in South Carolina just four days later, which claimed the lives of the train conductor and engineer. The train was heading south from New York to Miami — a fact Rosen suggested is relevant considering some number of Schumer’s constituents were likely aboard.

Rosen told TheDCNF that Schumer has not responded to his letter, which was sent after a train carrying senators collided with a car in Virginia, killing the driver. Schumer’s office did not respond to TheDCNF’s request for comment.

Schumer did, however, provide a rationale when speaking to the Wall Street Journal after first blocking Batory’s confirmation in August; he, along with the four New Jersey and New York Democrats who joined him in blocking the confirmation, did so out of concern that the federal government was unwilling to fund the construction of a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River.

Rosen argues the two issues are totally unrelated and should remain that way.

“That’s just all about who’s going to put up the money for some construction project in New York and New Jersey. That’s really completely unrelated and that’s a program of the federal transit administration, not the federal rail administration,” Rosen said of the so-called Gateway project, for which he claims Schumer has requested $30 million in funding — a figure that greatly exceeds that particular transit program’s budget of $2.2 million.

Asked how exactly Batory’s leadership would increase safety and reduce the number of rail accidents, Rosen cited a number of specific policy priorities before turning to the importance of leadership generally.

“Any organization that has a strong leader at the top benefits from the leadership. I don’t think anybody can point to any organization that doesn’t benefit from a knowledgeable expert leading the organization in a capable way,” Rosen said.

Democrats responded to Rosen’s Wednesday letter by arguing it is unfair to connect the rash of recent accidents to Batory’s confirmation delay because he is already providing his expertise as a full-time advisor.

“Than no one would ever need to be confirmed. He’s playing a different role as an advisor. He’s not able to make decisions, he’s not able to sign things, he’s not able to direct resources. He’s not able to fill that leadership role,” Rosen said of the Democratic lawmakers’ defense. “That’s like saying there’s a senior staff to the senator and if we didn’t have a senator from New York it would be fine because there’s senior staff there.”

Rosen said he was genuinely surprised that the string of recent accidents have not yet fostered a sense of urgency among Democratic leadership and said he is beginning to see the confirmation delay as part of a broader pattern of obstruction.

“Mr. Batory is one of 64 nominees who’s been filibustered by the Senate minority and that’s a new world record. That’s never happened in any prior administration so that makes me wonder is it really about the transit funding but whatever it is it’s just wrong,” Rosen said.

‘It’s both inexplicable and irresponsible,” he concluded.

Rob Porter has resigned from his role as White House staff secretary after his first ex-wife told DailyMail.com that he choked and punched her during their marriage.

Colbie Holderness, 37, who is a senior analyst for the U.S. government, spoke on the record to DailyMail.com about her five-year marriage to Porter, detailing physical and mental abuse.

She said he broke down her confidence so badly with his verbal and emotional abuse that she took an extended leave of absence from grad school.

Holderness’s revelations follow DailyMail.com’s exclusive interview on Tuesday evening with Porter’s second wife, Jennifer Willoughby.

Woman Found Holding Her Eyeball Outside of Church

Authorities say a woman was found holding her eyeball outside a South Carolina church.

Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride tells news outlets that it took two or three deputies and two emergency medical workers to subdue the woman to start rendering aid.

A retired minister who helped the woman, Rev. Terry Mitchell, says it appeared she had intentionally hurt herself on nearby railroad tracks. Surprise! Another DNC Link to Spying on Trump Team

Just when you thought the Democratic National Committee’s funding of the dossier used to spy on Trump’s campaign was scandalous, WikiLeaks has revealed another DNC connection to the FISA spying warrant.

It turns out the author of a Yahoo News story – which was reportedly used by the FBI and DOJ on a FISA warrant application to lend credibility to the anti-Trump dossier – had been secretly working with the DNC “for weeks.”

The Yahoo author who was reportedly working with the DNC is Michael Isikoff, chief investigative correspondent at the news organization and co-author of the upcoming book “Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump.”

On Wednesday, WikiLeaks released the following May 4, 2016, email from DNC contractor Alexandra Chalupa to DNC communications director Luis Miranda.

In it, Chalupa – who was at the center of allegations that Democrats worked with Ukranians to find dirt on Trump – tells Miranda, “… I invited Michael Isikoff whom I’ve been working with for the past few weeks and connected him to the Ukranians.”

New Study Reveals Germiest Place to Avoid in Airport

As bad as an airplane cabin can be in terms of cleanliness, airport terminals can be even worse, a new study has revealed.

An airplane cabin’s surfaces are known to house more germs than the average kitchen counter, but a recent study has shown that the surfaces in an airport terminal collect even more germs than the planes themselves.

Like at many businesses — from banks to supermarkets — self-serve kiosks have become increasingly popular at airports.

However, they are also a breeding ground for germs.

The largest number of colony-forming bacteria per square inch was found on these self-serve ticketing kiosks.

Experts from InsuranceQuotes.com conducted swab tests at three airports and on three different airline flights, collecting samples from a multitude of surfaces.

The website would not provide the name of the locations.

Researches uncovered 253,857 colony-forming units on the kiosks.

For comparison, there were just 21,630 CFUs on bench armrests and 19,181 on drinking fountain buttons, according to the Los Angeles Times, which reported on the study.

As far as the planes themselves, the largest germ counts were found — perhaps unsurprisingly — on the flush button of toilets, where 95,145 CFUs were found.

The study also suggested that people traveling on a plane may want to think twice about eating an airline meal.

The researchers also found 11,595 CFUs on tray tables.

Another reason to pack a travel-sized container of hand sanitizer? Seat buckles.

The Times reported that 1,116 CFUs were found on the seat buckles alone, according to the study. This is a much greater number than the 361 CFUs that the National Science Foundation estimated are found on an average kitchen counter.

Almost three years ago, a similar study indicated that the highest concentration of germs found in airports was on the push buttons of drinking fountains.

But since then, as the newspaper pointed out, several major airlines like American, Southwest and United have implemented self-serve kiosks in an effort to speed up the ticketing process for customers. River Turns Blood Red in ‘Biblical Bombshell’

Russian media are calling last week’s sudden change of Siberia’s Molchanka River into a blood-red estuary a “biblical bombshell,” referencing the first of the Bible’s ten plagues visited on the Egytians in the book of Exodus . . .

No one is calling the Molchanka transformation blood, but scientists are troubled enough about the event to be searching for its cause, assumed to be a natural one. Experts in the regional department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor), the Russian agency responsible for environmental concerns, are investigating the cause of the shocking crimson color, reported Breaking Israel News. Samples sent to the Center for Epidemiology are being tested for presence of toxic compounds.

Some residents of the city of Tyumen are blaming the change on greenhouse wastes. Officials have not released results of testing . . .

While a waterway suddenly turning red can be locally shocking, the fact is the phenomenon is not uncommon. WND reported in 2013 a similar, sudden change in the canals of Nootdorp, South Holland, in the Netherlands . . .

Trump Says He’d ‘Love’ to See Another Shutdown over Immigration

By Henry C. Jackson. Congress is on the verge of a budget deal. President Donald Trump is implying he’d be happy to shut it all down if he doesn’t get his way.

The House passed another stopgap funding bill that could avert a government shutdown as talks continued positively toward a broader, long-term agreement, POLITICO’s John Bresnahan, Jennifer Schultes and Sarah Ferris report. The House bill boosts Pentagon spending over the next eight months but only funds non-military programs until March 23, and at their current levels.

That approach is almost certain to be blocked in the Senate. But there’s optimism:

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer met privately on (today) to discuss lifting stiff spending caps as part of the short-term funding package, according to sources in both parties briefed on the talks. The top four congressional leaders believe they are close to clinching a budget deal that significantly boosts defense and domestic spending and ends the cycle of temporary funding measures.” . . .

“If we don’t get rid of these loopholes where killers are allowed to come into our country and continue to kill … if we don’t change it, let’s have a shutdown,” Trump said at a White House roundtable focused on the gang MS-13. “We’ll do a shutdown, and it’s worth it for our country. Trump: ‘I’d Love to See a Shutdown’ over Immigration

By CNN. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he supports a government shutdown if Democrats won’t agree to tighten immigration laws, undercutting ongoing bipartisan negotiations on Capitol Hill.

The comment, which came during a White House meeting on the violent MS-13 gang, was not well received in the room. Rep. Barbara Comstock, a Virginia Republican who represents a district with thousands of federal workers, confronted Trump about the remark and urged him to avoid another government shutdown.
