In a high-level meeting on religious persecution in Brussels, the President of the European Parliament (EP) said that Europe cannot afford to continue ignoring the fate of Christians, who are “clearly the most persecuted group” in the world.
In Wednesday’s meeting, EP President Martin Schulz said that the persecution of Christians is “undervalued” and does not receive enough attention, which has also meant that it “hasn’t been properly addressed.”
Schulz’s concerns were echoed by EP Vice President Antonio Tajani, who warned that Europe sometimes “falls into the temptation of thinking we can ignore this task,” referring to the protection Christians throughout the world who suffer persecution.
Speakers cited the work of Open Doors, a human rights organization that monitors the persecution of Christians, noting that 150 million Christians worldwide suffer torture, rape and arbitrary imprisonment. Christians in Iraq, Somalia, Syria, Pakistan, North Korea and Nigeria are among those hardest hit.
The Open Doors report for 2015 found that “Islamic extremism is by far the most significant persecution engine” of Christians in the world today and that “40 of the 50 countries on the World Watch List are affected by this kind of persecution.” (Read more from “EuroParliament President: Christians Not Safe in Our Continent” HERE)
Openly welcoming a preordained veto, Senate Republicans drove legislation toward passage Thursday aimed at crippling two of their favorite targets: President Barack Obama’s health care law and Planned Parenthood.
Senate approval, which the House is expected to rubber stamp soon, would for the first time put legislation on Obama’s desk demolishing his 2010 health care overhaul, one of his proudest domestic achievements. Congress has voted dozens of times to repeal or weaken the law, but until now Democrats have thwarted them from shipping the legislation to the White House.
Republicans said an Obama veto would underscore that a GOP triumph in next year’s presidential and congressional elections would mean repeal of a statute they blame for surging medical costs and insurers abandoning some markets. They lack the two-thirds House and Senate majorities they would need to override a veto, assuring that the bill’s chief purpose will be for campaign talking points.
“They can keep trying to talk past the middle class,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said of Democrats, who he said were ignoring complaints about the law. “They can keep trying to deny reality. But they have to realize that no one is buying the spin but them.”
Government officials said this week that health care spending grew at 5.3 percent in 2014, the steepest climb since Obama took office. (Read more from “Senate Set to Ignore Obama Veto Threat, OK Bill Targeting Planned Parenthood” HERE)

Prayers said and the closing hymn sung, tea-drinking churchgoers fill Marble City Grill for Sunday lunch. But hard on their heels comes the afternoon crowd: craft beer-drinking, NFL-watching football fans.
Such a scene would have been impossible just months ago because Sunday alcohol sales were long illegal in Sylacauga, hometown of both the actor who played TV’s Gomer Pyle and the white marble used to construct the U.S. Supreme Court building. While the central Alabama city of 12,700 has only one hospital, four public schools and 21 red lights, the chamber of commerce directory lists 78 churches.
Yet few were surprised when residents voted overwhelmingly in September to legalize Sunday alcohol sales. Churches lacked either the heart or influence to stop it. (Read more from “Influence of Churches, Once Dominant, Now Waning in South” HERE)

Marines with 2nd Transport Support Battalion are now more capable to handle a chemical weapons attack due to their completion of a chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear defense training exercise at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Dec. 1, 2015.
During the training, Marines put into practice skills they learned in classes about an active chemical threat and the proper protective equipment to decontaminate themselves in a hazardous situation.
Practicing self-decontamination procedures is vital to mission accomplishment because exposing Marines to CBRN agents could cause serious health risks.
“These Marines can go back to their units with this information and share the knowledge they learned with their unit,” said Cpl. Tanner Watson, a CBRN training instructor. “The knowledge these Marines pass on is something that applies to everyone. That’s why the training is so necessary. It saves lives” . . .
Educating Marines on the threats and chemical hazards they may be exposed to increases their readiness and ability to operate in hazardous environments. Marines need to know not only about the threats but how their gear can be utilized to function efficiently and save lives. (Read more from “Marines Prepare for Worst with CBRN Training Drills” HERE)

Actor James Woods has noticed a double standard at the New York Daily News . . .
However, after a December 2 shooting in San Bernadino, California, the Daily News ran a headline saying “GOD ISN’T FIXING THIS.” While the coverage of the #PrayForParis campaign was positive, the December 3 cover story was critical of politicians who are praying for the California victims, the Daily News arguing that “cowards who could truly end gun scourge continue to hide behind meaningless platitudes.”

A former Bridgeport police officer who claimed someone left a racist memo on police letterhead in his mailbox at headquarters in February admitted to writing the letter himself and has been charged with filing a false report, according to police.
Former Officer Clive Higgins reported that he found a racist hate letter in his police mailbox the morning of Monday, Feb. 9 and feared for his life because of it.
The letter, printed on paper marked with the department’s official letterhead, started off with “WHITE POWER” and went on to say “Officer Clive Higgins doesn’t belong here in this Police Department” and “These Black Officers belong in the toilet.”
A month earlier, Higgins was acquitted in connection with a 2011 police brutality case in which officers were caught on camera beating a suspect at Beardsley Park and shooting him with a stun gun. Two other officers were convicted, but a federal jury found Higgins not guilty . . .
The report of the racist letter prompted the Bridgeport Guardians, a minority officers’ organization, to hold a news conference, calling the letter “racial, insensitive and threatening.” They said it was the most recent of at least three hateful notes to circulate within the department within a year. By Daniel Greenfield. The shooter has been named as Sayeed Farouk. His father described him as a religiously devout Muslim. “He was very religious. He would go to work, come back, go to pray, come back.” Co-workers say that he “grew a beard and started to wear religious clothing. The long shirt that’s like a dress and the cap on his head.”
And at some point his “religiosity” took him down the familiar path of Jihad. . .
Obama and the media would like to make this story about “gun violence”. But guns don’t shoot themselves. There is a hand that pulls the trigger and a mind whose foul purposes that hand serves. . .
San Bernardino is home to what is described as a “growing Muslim population” and that growth comes with terrifying growing pains.
This latest attack appears to be one of them. (Read more about the Islamic connections to the California massacre HERE)

The Farooq Saeed’s Home Described as an “IED Factory”
By FoxNews.com. Law enforcement officials said late Wednesday they could not rule out terrorism as a possible motive. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force was aiding in the investigation.
A law enforcement source told Fox News that the couple were each carrying an AR-15 rifle and and a pistol when they were shot and killed by police after a brief chase in their black SUV about 2 miles from the initial shooting site. The source said the vehicle also contained so-called “rollout bags” with multiple pipe bombs, as well as additional ammunition. The couple also had GoPro cameras strapped to their body armor and wore tactical clothing, including vests stuffed with ammunition magazines.
“That’s a military tactic for a sustained fight,” the source told Fox News of the rollout bags.
In addition to the explosives found at the SUV, authorities discovered and detonated three pipe bombs late Wednesday at the Inland Regional Center, the complex where the initial shooting took place about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
Another source described a house in Redlands that was being searched in connection with the shooting as “an IED facility.” The source said investigators discovered multiple pipe bombs in the house, as well as small explosives that were strapped to remote-controlled cars. Early Reports of the California Massacre, Disturbing
By B. Christopher Agee. As more information trickles in regarding the search for as many as three suspects wanted in Wednesday morning’s mass shooting at a San Bernardino, Calif., nonprofit facility, reported details about the gear being used by the gunmen has added a new layer to the developing narrative.
CNN spoke to a law enforcement officer in the area and is reporting that “three suspects are believed to be armed with AK-47-type weapons” and “got into a black SUV and drove away.”
Authorities also reportedly found a package – which CNN’s source confirmed was “not normal” – at the scene. A robot equipped to handle the suspicious item is expected to be deployed to safely retrieve it.
SWAT team members and other federal and local authorities are combing the scene and surrounding buildings as of the latest reports available. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with any information about the incident to call immediately. So global warming caused ISIS to dispatch a team of bloodthirsty malevolent maniacs to Paris to slaughter as many non-Muslims, and to gain as much publicity, as possible. Bernie Sanders said so.
Who remembers when members of ISIS placed a man in the path of a tank, ran the tank over the man popping him like a balloon, and then ISIS posted videos bragging of it? Global warming made them do it. Hillary Clinton says so.
Hey: how about when ISIS corralled a group of Christian women living in Syria and then raped a goodly proportion of them to death and shot a few others for fun? Global warming again. And let’s not forget the many times orange-clad men were led to a beach to have their heads shaved off by ISIS. Allahu Akbar? No! Global Warming!
This isn’t me saying it. It’s Barack Obama. He said global warming is the biggest threat we face. But Mr. Obama was only echoing his betters who will gather in two weeks in Paris to decide the pre-determined conclusion that global warming is a security threat of such magnitude that we are forced to sign over control of significant portions of our economies to the United Nations. (Of course, our dear leaders will say climate change and not global warming, but we won’t make that mistake.)
What a sight it will be! Angela Merkel, Barack Obama, David Cameron, even Francois Hollande himself, will march somberly through blood-stained streets, file past the many coffins from the Paris attack, proceed to the UN’s padded conference room, and there from on high they will announce to the world that the horrors they have witnessed were caused by global warming. And that if we don’t act now, global warming will cause more men to suddenly wake one morning and say to themselves, “I will kill in the name of Allah.”
Global warming! Is there nothing it cannot do?
That is a rhetorical question, friends. The answer is clear to any thinking person. Global warming can do anything. Well, any bad thing. Global warming cannot do good things.
Only problem is, there hasn’t been any global warming for almost twenty years. Oh, the temperature has bounced around a bit, up one year, down the next, but it hasn’t been advancing as climatologists have promised us. Know what that means? You guessed it. Global warming is even more powerful than we could have imagined!
Yes: not only is actual global warming deadly, even the thought of it can cause men to kill. Since the globe did not in fact warm, but global warming surely caused ISIS to commit atrocity after atrocity — our leaders could not be wrong on so fundamental a point — it must then be that just sitting and contemplating what might happen is what caused these fanatics to spring into action.
Global warming, we’re told, is also going to cause more deaths by natural disasters. It hasn’t done so yet, but it will. Actually, deaths due to natural disasters such as wildfires, tornadoes, extreme temperatures, droughts and storms are at a ridiculously low level compared to a century ago. Just as a for instance, storms killed about about 1 out of every million people in 1900, but this fell to about half that many by 2010. (Don’t forget the world population rose from about 1.65 billion in 1900 to about 6.7 billion in 2010, so you have to normalize deaths by population.)
There were no recorded deaths by drought in 2010, but there were some 126-thousand deaths in 1900, way before global warming wrapped its heated tentacles around the earth. Deaths by drought are important because, our leaders tell us, it was drought and heat that caused the Syrian conflict, which in turn caused the refugee crisis. Of course, it wasn’t actual drought and heat, because Syrian weather has been near average (wheat production, for instance, is up), so once again it was only the promise of future doom that counted.
This future doom is no small thing. ISIS gleefully announced that it used the promise-of-global-warming-caused refugee crisis to smuggle “thousands” of cutthroats into Europe. How many they’re sneaking into New Orleans, where Mr. Obama has directed our share of Syrians to go, has not yet been determined.
Gets mighty warm and sticky down in the Big Easy. Thoughts can’t help but turn to what it would be like if, as promised, the temperatures soar another one- to two-tenths of a degree by mid century. Who could possibly tolerate a shift as dramatic as that? Besides my parents, who migrate from Michigan to Florida each winter for its warming climes? If President Obama is serious about the link between global warming and terrorism, perhaps he should send Muslim refugees from Syria, among whom are surely ISIS agents, to Siberia. Vladimir Putin won’t mind watching over them. (For more from the author of “Our Leaders Have Spoken: Global Warming Causes Terrorism” please click HERE)
The outlook for the global economy next year is darkening, with a U.S. recession and China becoming the first major emerging market to slash interest rates to zero both potential scenarios, according to Citi.
As the U.S. economy enters its seventh year of expansion following the 2008-09 crisis, the probability of recession will reach 65 percent, Citi’s rates strategists wrote in their 2016 outlook published late on Tuesday. A rapid flattening of the bond yield curve towards inversion would be an key warning sign.
“The cumulative probability of U.S. recession reaches 65 percent next year,” Citi’s rates strategists wrote in their 2016 outlook published late on Tuesday. “Curve inversion will likely come more quickly than the consensus thinks.” (Read more from “Watch for U.S. Recession, Zero Interest Rates in China next Year” HERE)

In an interview with Boston talk radio host Jeff Kuhner, Republican Ted Cruz said that if he were elected president, he would “absolutely”appoint Donald Trump to build a giant wall on the U.S.-Mexican border.
“If you’re elected president of the United States, will you do what Donald Trump has pledged to do? Would a President Cruz build a wall along the entire southern border?” Kuhner asked. “And would you if you were president appoint Donald Trump to build that wall?”
Cruz laughed. “Absolutely yes on both fronts,” he responded. (Read more from “President Ted Cruz Would ‘Absolutely’ Appoint Donald Trump to Build Border Wall” HERE)
