Pro-Life Leaders Slam Carson After His Planned Parenthood Shooting Comments

Pro-life leaders are used to being accused of hate speech by Planned Parenthood, Hillary Clinton, and campus feminist activists. But they were surprised to hear Dr. Ben Carson seem to agree that they spewed “hateful” and “immature” rhetoric on Sunday.

When CBS moderator John Dickerson asked Dr. Carson whether Planned Parenthood was right that pro-life rhetoric had led to Friday’s shooting inside a Colorado Springs abortion facility, the doctor readily agreed. There is “no question the hateful rhetoric exacerbates the situation,” Carson said on “Face the Nation.”

Pro-life advocates quickly rebuffed the notion that they had pushed 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear to kill three people.

“Dr. Carson is sorely misinformed,” Lauren Muzyka, the executive director of Sidewalk Advocates for Life, told LifeSiteNews.

“The only thing that’s extreme is Planned Parenthood’s desire to see abortion without restriction through all nine months of pregnancy while they capitalize off dismembering preborn children and parting them out for sale,” she said. Judge Just Made HUGE Decision in Case Against ‘Muslim-Free Zone’ Gun Shop Owner

A U.S. district court has thrown out a lawsuit against a Florida gun store owner, Andy Hallinan, owner of Florida Gun Supply. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, brought the lawsuit against Hallinan for establishing a “Muslim-free Zone” at his gun store . . .

CAIR sued Hallinan alleging religious discrimination, claiming that Muslims were not allowed to purchase guns at Florida Gun Supply. The case was brought about when Hallinan used Youtube as a medium to announce that he would not arm terrorists who were intent on harming Americans. The reason the judge threw out the case was the fact that CAIR had not proved that its organization nor any of its constituents were harmed as a result of the establishment of Hallinan’s “Muslim-free Zone.” According to Fox13 News, Judge Beth Bloom said CAIR, “insufficiently alleged imminent harm,” and that, “There are simply no facts grounding the assertion that Plaintiff (CAIR) and/or one of its constituents will be harmed” . . .

Hallinan said, “I have never denied a Muslim the right to buy guns here because they’ve never tried to buy guns here…We laid out the facts. Mayor of Juneau Found Dead in His Home; UPDATE: Foul Play Not Ruled Out

By Fox News. The mayor of Alaska’s capital city, Juneau, was found dead in his home Monday less than than two months after he was elected.

Juneau police said in a brief statement that Greg Fisk, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene. The statement added that an unidentified male caller had reported finding Fisk’s body at 3:34 p.m. local time (7:34 p.m. EST) . . .

Fisk was elected mayor of Juneau on Oct. 6, defeating incumbent Merrill Sanford by a 2-to-1 margin. Prior to entering politics, he had worked as a self-employed consultant for area fisheries. (Read more from “Mayor of Juneau Found Dead in His Home” HERE)

Juneau Police Department Press Release

Summary: On November 30th, 2015 at about 3:34pm, the Juneau Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a male reporting he had found a deceased subject inside a residence in the 400 block of Kennedy Street.

JPD officers and Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to the area. 70 year old Stephen “Greg” Fisk, the Mayor of Juneau, was pronounced deceased on scene. The investigation continues.

The man who found Greg Fisk in his Juneau residence and called 9-1-1 was Fisk’s adult son.

JPD is aware of rumors that an assault occurred in connection with Fisk’s death. Those rumors are speculation. Detectives are actively investigating facts of the incident and all evidence is being preserved and documented.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has authorized an autopsy. Results of the autopsy are expected within several days and will be used to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as appropriate.

UPDATE: Foul Play Not Ruled Out in Death of Mayor of Juneau

By M. Alex Johnson. Police haven’t ruled out foul play in the death of Juneau, Alaska, Mayor Greg Fisk after they said Tuesday they had discovered undisclosed injuries on his body.

Fisk, 70, who was elected mayor in October, was found Monday afternoon at home by his son, Juneau police said. They wouldn’t speculate on a cause of death, saying an autopsy was pending.

Police said they have ruled out suicide — but they wouldn’t rule out foul play. Fisk was found alone, and there was no evidence of forced entry, they said.

Juneau Police Chief Bryce Johnson said in an interview on KINY radio of Juneau that “injuries” were discovered on the mayor’s body. He wouldn’t discuss the location or nature of the injuries, saying they could be “consistent with a fall.”

Ted Cruz: Majority of Violent Criminals Are Democrats

GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz told conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt that “the simple and undeniable fact is the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats” during an interview on Monday.

The Republican presidential candidate was discussing the shooting in Colorado Springs at a Planned Parenthood building where three people were killed.

According to Politico, “The suspect’s reported mention of ‘baby parts’ at the time of the shooting —as well as the location of the shooting — has linked the incident to the nation’s ongoing debate on abortion. No Christians: All 132 Syrian Refugees Admitted to U.S. Since Paris Attacks Are Sunni Muslims

Since the Paris terror attacks on November 13, the State Department has admitted 132 Syrian refugees into the United States, and all 132 are Sunni Muslims.

No Christian, Druze, Shi’ite, Alawite, or member of any other religious minority in Syria has been admitted over that period, according to data from the State Department Refugee Processing Center.

The majority of the 132 Syrian refugees permitted to resettle in the U.S. since November 13 (72) are male, the minority female (60). Of the 132 total, 39 (29.5 percent) have been men between the ages of 14 and 50.

Another 53 (40 percent) are children aged under 14, of whom 30 are males and 23 females.

The Paris terror attacks, which killed 130 people and were claimed by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS/ISIL), brought fresh scrutiny onto the issue of refugees from the Syrian conflict, amid concerns the terrorist group was seeking to infiltrate Western countries through refugee settlement programs. Former U.S. Marine on Hunting Trip With Kids Arrested After Entering Mexico by Innocent Mistake

An 18-year-veteran of the Marine Corps who did tours of service in Iraq and Afghanistan earning a Bronze Star was hoping for some much-needed dad time with his kids.

So retired 1st Sgt. Jeromie Slaughter, 38, planned a deer-hunting trip with them a few hours from his Houston-area home — a trip that became an odyssey when he took a wrong turn and wound up arrested in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, for carrying weapons.

And when his family tried to find a Mexican lawyer to represent him, the ones they contacted asked for cash in U.S. dollars to help secure his release, Slaughter’s mother, Beverly McKinney, said . . .

According to McKinney, the Texas City resident piled into his pickup with his 14-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter after Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. They were heading for a deer lease – private property that’s open to hunters for a fee – near Rocksprings, about 70 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, about a 6-hour drive.

Instead, Slaughter made a wrong turn and, at about 1 a.m. Friday morning, wound up crossing a bridge into Ciudad Acuña, across the border from Del Rio, Texas. . . It was frustrating, [Slaughter’s mother told Fox] on Monday, because Mexican officials “were treating him like he is a terrorist. He was on a hunting trip, [he is] not a terrorist. Universities Are Dominated by Left-Wing Hate Mobs Says Professor

University students and teachers are becoming increasingly ‘hard-line’ and intolerant, shouting down anyone who does not conform to their world view, a British professor has said.

Antony Glees, an expert in counter-terrorism who teaches at the University of Buckingham, said that left-wing staff and students have become more militant over the past 10 years, with chilling effects on free speech.

Professor Glees said he was heckled at recent panel discussion on the government’s “Prevent” anti-terror strategy after he spoke up in favour of the scheme. He said there was a “feeling of menace” after was “cynically jeered at” and branded a racist by students and even other lecturers.

He also said he was “mindlessly heckled” and branded a “white, male, colonialist, Zionist and racist” by one student after he criticised protesters who stopped the Israeli ambassador speaking at universities . . .

1st Large-Scale Exercise Set in Military Air Training Area

Military airplanes are taking to the skies this week for the first large-scale exercise in a training area over the Northern Plains.

The exercise in the 35,000-square-mile Powder River Training Complex is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Bombers, fighter jets and refueling tankers will be practicing maneuvers in the airspace over the Dakotas, Montana and Wyoming.

After years of consideration, the Federal Aviation Administration in March approved quadrupling the training airspace, making it the largest over the continental U.S. Advocates say it will boost military training while reducing costs, but some people in the region worry about disruptions to towns, ranches and civilian flights. Will Genome Editing Allow Scientists to Create the Perfect Baby?

Jennifer Doudna and her research partner Emmanuelle Charpentier both won the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, Massry Prize. You’d see that and decide these were a couple scientific eggheads, winning some special award. Then you’d forget about it. Unless you see the film clip of Cameron Diaz handing them an award that, at quick glance, could be an Emmy or an Oscar. Then the average person’s attention perks up. This must be some big deal to have a movie star give them the award. And it is. They won for a breakthrough study in genome editing.

Genome editing. It sounds maybe innocent, maybe a little techie. Most people aren’t science oriented enough to know what a genome is without looking it up. And the word “editing” certainly sounds innocent enough. Dictionary.com defines genome as “a full set of chromosomes; all the inheritable traits of an organism.” The first entry in a Google search for “genome” says, “A genome is an organism’s complete set of DNA, including all of its genes. Each genome contains all of the information needed to build and maintain that organism. In humans, a copy of the entire genome—more than 3 billion DNA base pairs—is contained in all cells that have a nucleus.”

Suddenly, “genome editing” becomes more interesting. What these women won the award for is genetic manipulation. In a story by Norah O’Donnell on CBS This Morning, Mrs. Doudna said, among other things, that she was interested in the science not the monetary possibilities. And she seemed honest enough to believe that. But we don’t normally think of scientists “going for the big bucks.” Until you think about what this is.

As we gain more experience and knowledge in the field, there’s the possibility of editing out genetic diseases. Tendencies toward cancer could disappear, family genetics toward certain health issues could be eliminated. Perhaps, as we get better at it, we could develop corrective surgery at the genetic level. Obama’s Trip to the UN ‘Global Warming’ Summit Emits More CO2 Than Driving 72 Cars for a Year

President Barack Obama may warn that carbon dioxide is causing global warming, but his flight to Paris to join other world leaders at the United Nations climate summit emitted more CO2 than driving 72 cars for a year.

Obama’s Paris jaunt will send more CO2 into the atmosphere than 31 American homes‘ energy usage for an entire year. The president’s trip is equivalent to burning 368,331 pounds of coal or 797 barrels of oil, according to the Environmental Protection Agency’s carbon footprint calculator.

Just one leg of the president’s Sunday trip to Paris emitted 189 tons of CO2 after travelling 3,855 miles and burning 19,275 gallons of jet fuel, according to Daily Caller News Foundation calculations based on past presidential flights. Obama’s return flight to Washington, D.C., would double the amount of CO2 burned to 378 tons — more than 72 cars driving for a year.

Obama has been criticized for past plane rides in the name of fighting global warming. Earlier this year, Obama flew down to the Everglades for Earth Day and was hammered for potentially damaging the fragile eco-system and costing taxpayers more than $866,000.

World leaders will meet Monday in Paris to kick off the U.N.’s 21st attempt to get countries to sign onto a global agreement to cut carbon dioxide emissions. Obama wants signing a climate treaty to be a part of his presidential legacy, and administration staff have been working tirelessly to convince other countries, like China, to agree to emissions cuts.
