Amazing Act of Kindness From Kentucky Police Officer

Photo Credit: WKYTBy Garret Wymer. A London [Kentucky] police officer took it upon himself to help a suspected shoplifter after realizing the man was in a difficult situation.

“As a police officer, it’s not black and white for us,” said Officer Justin Roby. “There’s a lot of gray. And you have to cipher through everything and you really need to figure out the whole story.”

Roby was called to the Kroger on North Main Street in London on Saturday, Jan. 17 after a loss prevention officer stopped a man who was shoplifting.

The suspect was a single father who had fallen on hard times, Roby said. The man was caught stealing baby formula for his six-month-old son, who was with him at the time . . .

The officer bought some formula himself, giving it to the man for his baby. (Read more about what the Kentucky police officer did HERE)

Police Officer Recognized for His Act of Kindness With an Autistic Woman

By Mike Anderson. A Waukesha police officer is being recognized for a notable act of kindness . . .

A couple of weeks ago, he got a call from Target about an out-of-control 19-year-old woman.

“She was in one of the aisles at the store. She was with a caregiver, and the caregiver was particularly concerned because this particular individual had been lashing out lately and getting violent,” Bukouras said.

Bukouras quickly realized that the woman just wanted to buy a doll. He also learned she has severe autism and did not understand the concept of money.

He calmed her down, and when he found out the caregiver didn’t have money to pay for the doll, he bought it himself and gave it to her. (Read more from this story HERE)

AllenBWest.com: Was Chris Kyle’s Killer a Muslim?

Photo Credit: AllenbWest The “conventional wisdom” says former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle was tragically shot and killed by a former soldier suffering from PTSD.

But perhaps there’s another version of the story no one wants to talk about. What if Routh had been converted to militant Islam in Iraq and sought Kyle out as retribution? . . .

According to The Warfighter Foundation, it is highly unlikely Routh suffered from PTSD because he never served in battle . . .

While Routh never served in battle, he did work as a prison guard overseeing Muslim terrorists at Bilad Airbase. Walid Shoebat posits that Routh could have interacted with the inmates and perhaps converted to Islam.

While there is no proof of any conversion, Shoebat says “During a phone call with his father, Routh expressed sympathy for the detainees and discontent over how the US was conducting the war as well as his reluctance to engage in combat” and “While working as a guard at Balad Air Base, Routh laments his [Muslim] prisoners’ poor living conditions.” (Read more from “Chris Kyle’s Killer a Muslim?” HERE)

ISIS Releases Horrific Video Burning Jordanian Pilot ALIVE; Jordan Retaliates, Executes Two Including Woman

By Yahoo News. The Islamic State group released a video Tuesday purportedly showing the burning alive of a Jordanian pilot, in the jihadists’ most brutal execution yet of a foreign hostage.

The highly produced 22-minute video released online showed images of a man purported to be the pilot Maaz al-Kassasbeh, who was captured in December, engulfed in flames inside a metal cage.

Jordanian state television confirmed the death and said Kassasbeh had been killed on January 3, before the jihadists offered to spare his life and free a Japanese journalist in return for the release of an Iraqi would-be suicide bomber held in Jordan . . .

Kassasbeh, a 26-year-old first lieutenant in the Jordanian air force, was captured on December 24 after his F-16 jet crashed while on a mission over northern Syria as part of the US-led coalition campaign against the jihadists . . .

The release of the video of the pilot’s purported murder came days after IS beheaded a second Japanese hostage within a week. (Read more about the horrific death of the Jordanian pilot HERE)

Grieving Father Kills 7 ISIS Terrorists in a Revenge Attack

By Gareth Roberts. An Iraqi man has reportedly gunned down seven Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists in a revenge attack for the death of his son.

A string of reports claim Basil Ramadan, said to be in his 60s, opened fire with an AK-47 assault rifle on a group of ISIS militants at a checkpoint in the city of Tikrit.

He killed seven before he was shot dead on Sunday morning.

Local media say ISIS terrorists executed Ahmed Ramadan, an 18-year-old college student, earlier this year.

He was killed alongside seven other young men who were accused of collaborating with the Iraqi security forces, reports say. (Read more from this story HERE)

Jordan Executes Two ISIS Terrorists – Including a Woman – In Retaliation

By FoxNews.com. Jordan said it had executed 2 prisoners early Wednesday after a new video surfaced on the Internet Tuesday showing ISIS burning alive a Jordanian pilot the terror group had held since December.

Government spokesman Mohammed al-Momani said that prisoners Sajida al-Rishawi and Ziad al-Karbouli were executed. Al-Rishawi has been on death row for her role in a triple hotel bombing in the Jordanian capital Amman in 2005 that killed dozens. Over the past week, Jordan had twice offered to swap her for the pilot, Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh. However, officials have said his captors did not deliver proof he was still alive, and the swap never moved forward.

The 44-year-old Iraqi woman’s suicide belt did not detonate at the time of the Amman attack and she fled the scene, but was quickly arrested. After a televised confession, she recanted, but her appeal was turned down.

Al-Rishawi had family ties to the Iraqi branch of Al Qaeda, a precursor of ISIS. Ziad Al-Karbuli was a former aide to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian Al Qaeda operative who was killed in 2006. (Read more from this story about the retaliatory executions for the Jordanian pilot burning HERE)

GOP Votes to Fully Repeal Obamacare, No Help From Democrats

The GOP-House voted Tuesday evening to fully repeal Obamacare, sending the bill to a Republican Senate that seems likely to at least try to pass it in the coming weeks.

There was little doubt the bill could pass in a House with a stronger Republican majority, and it passed easily 239-186.

Republicans have held full Obamacare repeal votes in every session of Congress, and have won the support of just a few Democrats. This time around, no Democrats voted with Republicans, and three Republicans voted against the bill: Reps. Bob Dold (Ill.), John Katko (N.Y.), and Bruce Poliquin (Maine).

The debate and vote gave both parties a chance to run through their usual arguments for and against the law. Republicans said said the law is leading to higher healthcare costs and less choice for Americans who have seen many of their insurance plans canceled because they don’t meet new standards under the law.

Republicans also said a repeal is needed so Congress can start over and build a new reform plan that gives people more choice. (Read more about the vote to repeal Obamacare HERE)

Watch: Seahawks Wide Receiver’s Rude Gesture After Touchdown Not Aired at Super Bowl

Photo Credit: CBS News. By CBS News. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin is staying tight-lipped about his end zone celebration following a touchdown catch in Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday.

After the former Stanford University wideout caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter against the New England Patriots, he stood over the ball on the ground and made a motion that resembled pulling down his pants, before squatting over the ball.

Baldwin’s entire celebration was not seen by the NBC television audience as the network cut away from Baldwin as he began his pants-pulling motion. His antics earned Seattle a penalty flag for excessive celebration.

Tom Brady Gives MVP Truck to Malcolm Butler

By CBS News. Tom Brady won his fourth Lombardi Trophy and third Super Bowl MVP award Sunday night.

But he wouldn’t have accomplished that without a clutch interception by undrafted rookie Malcolm Butler, who picked off Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson at the New England one-yard line with just seconds remaining in Super Bow XLIX to seal the victory for the Patriots.

“I think there are a lot of people who are very deserving of this award,” Brady said Monday morning in Arizona as he collected his latest MVP trophy.

As MVP, Brady also received a shiny new Chevy truck. While he didn’t hand his MVP trophy to Butler, the quarterback is doing the next best thing: He’s giving him the truck.

Butler was not one of the 256 players drafted into the NFL last May, and earned his spot on the Patriots with an impressive rookie camp and preseason. While fans didn’t see much of Butler during the regular season, he was no stranger to Brady, constantly plucking the quarterback’s passes from the sky. (Read more from this story HERE)

Domino’s Employee Wards Off Three Armed Robbers With Pistol

Photo Credit: Scott Olson / GettyAfter Sarah Cherry’s father was robbed at gunpoint two months ago at an Arkansas Domino’s pizza store, the former Army military police officer began carrying a gun with her for protection to her job at the same restaurant.

Cherry had cause to use that gun — a .380 — Wednesday night when three armed men wearing hoodies stormed into the Blytheville eatery and shot at her during a robbery attempt.

“When she came around [to the front of the store], she didn’t know what was going on,” Cherry’s father, Clint Cherry, told The Daily Caller during a phone interview. “She came around front, and she shot.”

“She was defending the people more than herself,” Cherry added, noting that there were three or four other employees in the store at the time . . .

“When she shot, they took off. And then she followed them out the door to see where they were going. She might have said a few choice words too,” Cherry joked. (Read more about the employee warding off the three armed robbers HERE)

British Parliament Approves ‘Three-Parent Babies’, ‘Designer Babies’

Photo Credit: Telegraph By Steven Ertelt. Members of the British parliament today voted to make Britain the first country in the world to allow scientists to create three-parent genetically-engineered embryos, sometimes called “designer babies.”

In the process, the babies, born from genetically modified embryos, would have DNA from a mother, a father and from a female donor. The British parliament voted 382 to 128 in favor of the technique and Prime Minister David Cameron allowed a free vote on the issue and voted for it.

Conservative lawmaker Fiona Bruce said the measure would lead to “designer babies.”

“Where will it lead? The answer has to be that we stop here. The answer has to be that we say this is a red line in our country, as in every other country in the world, that we will not cross,” she said during the debate.

Dr. Peter Saunders, a pro-life physician from Britain and a leading campaigner against three-parent embryos, says members of Parliament were worried Britain would appear scientifically backwards if it did not approve the plan. (Read more about the three-parent embryos HERE)

Why the UK Voted to Allow ‘Three-Parent Babies’

By Arthur Bright. Britain’s House of Commons voted overwhelmingly today to legalize the creation of so-called “three-parent babies.” Though advocates of the move say it will help prevent a debilitating and often lethal condition, many warn that the procedure, if well-intentioned, opens the door to ethical and safety questions that have yet to be sufficiently grappled with . . .

The newly approved line of research is meant to address genetic defects found in the mitochondria of eggs and embryonic cells.

Mitochondria are structures, found within all human cells, that convert food into energy. They have their own genetic material, distinct from the DNA found in cellular nuclei, that is inherited solely from the biological mother.

Defects in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) can cause a range of diseases that are particularly devastating as they strike early in childhood, are largely untreatable, and are inherited: The BBC highlighted one instance in 2012 where a mother lost seven children to mtDNA-related conditions, most in infancy . . .

Although the theory is appealing, it has yet to be shown effective in practice, particularly for humans. The Center for Genetics and Society, a Berkeley, Calif.-based nonprofit focused on medical ethics and governance, writes that the safety of mitrochondrial replacement techniques has yet to be shown – and has much higher stakes, because the treatment is irreversible. The techniques “could cause immediate problems for any child born from these techniques, but could also cause problems later in life. Any problems that arise would additionally be passed on to future generations.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Heart and Sole: Man Walks 21 Miles in Work Commute (+video)

Photo Credit: Detroit Free Press By Bill Laitner. Leaving home in Detroit at 8 a.m., James Robertson doesn’t look like an endurance athlete.

Pudgy of form, shod in heavy work boots, Robertson trudges almost haltingly as he starts another workday.

But as he steps out into the cold, Robertson, 56, is steeled for an Olympic-sized commute. Getting to and from his factory job 23 miles away in Rochester Hills, he’ll take a bus partway there and partway home. And he’ll also walk an astounding 21 miles.

Five days a week. Monday through Friday.

It’s the life Robertson has led for the last decade, ever since his 1988 Honda Accord quit on him.

Every trip is an ordeal of mental and physical toughness for this soft-spoken man with a perfect attendance record at work. And every day is a tribute to how much he cares about his job, his boss and his coworkers. Robertson’s daunting walks and bus rides, in all kinds of weather, also reflect the challenges some metro Detroiters face in getting to work in a region of limited bus service, and where car ownership is priced beyond the reach of many. Strangers Raise $40,000 for Man Who Walks 21 Miles Per Day for Work

By Jared Keever. It wasn’t even planned, but it took less than a day.

Less than 24 hours after the Detroit Free Press ran a story about 56-year-old James Robertson and his grueling 21-mile roundtrip walking commute, people, moved by his story, have banded to together to raise money to help Robertson with his long, and sometimes frigid, commute.

The original story ran Sunday morning. By that evening 19-year-old Evan Leedy, a student at nearby Wayne State University, had set up a GoFundMe site with a modest $5,000 goal to help Robertson buy a car.

“I just used my phone. I created the go-funding site and within an hour we had $2,000,” Leedy told the Detroit Free Press in a follow-up story.

By the time the story went to press, the site had raised $30,000. It has now raised more than $40,000. (Read more from this story HERE)

Watch: Rand Paul ‘Shushes’ Anchor During Interview

By Hadas Gold. Sen. Rand Paul reproached CNBC anchor Kelly Evans on Monday afternoon for what he said was a “slanted” interview that got no “useful information.”

Evans asked Paul about his comments on how vaccines should be a choice and about a Washington Post article that reported Paul appointed his own family members to a medical board he started.

“You have taken an interview and you’ve made an interview into something where we got no useful information because you were argumentative and you started out with so many preoppositions [sic] that were incorrect,” Paul said after Evans asked whether Paul had a response to the Washington Post piece.

Rand Paul Gets Booster Vaccination to Prove He Believes They are Safe

By Jeremy W. Peters. Senator Rand Paul, facing a backlash over his comments that cast doubt on whether he believes vaccines can pose a health risk to children, asserted on Tuesday that he believes vaccinations are indeed safe and that all parents should have their children inoculated.

To prove his point, Mr. Paul invited a reporter with him to watch him get his booster vaccination for Hepatitis A.

“It just annoys me that I’m being characterized as someone who’s against vaccines,” Mr. Paul said as he settled into a chair in an examination room in the Capitol physician’s office. (Read more from this story HERE)

Incredible: 3,600 Year Old Mummy Suggests Brain Surgery was Performed

Photo Credit: Daily MailA skull that’s more than three and a half millennia old has revealed signs of an early form of brain surgery.

The perforated skull belongs to a mummified woman found in the Xiaohe tomb in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Experts said that the hole, which measures around 2 inches (50mm) in diameter, was most likely an early form of craniotomy . . .

This procedure has been performed since prehistoric times, and cave paintings indicate that ancient people believed the practice would cure epileptic seizures, headaches and mental disorders.

Lead archaeologist Zhu Hong who made the discovery said: ‘[The wound] suggests the female, who died in her 40s, must have lived for at least a month, or even longer, after receiving the surgery.’ (Read more from “Mummy Suggests Brain Surgery” HERE)
