New York Cop Killer's Islamic Roots Ignored by MSM

Brinsley[The New York City cop killer’s] Islamic roots have so far received little attention.

[Ismaaiyl] Brinsley, who had been in and out of jail much of his adult life, mostly in Ohio and Georgia, left behind numerous social media accounts, including a Facebook account under the name “Bleau Barracuda” . . .

Brinsley posted several videos on [his YouTube] account. Besides the visit to prayer at Masjid At Taqwa [mosque], Brinsley filmed himself getting searched for drugs on a bus; recorded a conversation about cocaine; and filmed a Muslim burial service.

An Internet search shows Brinsley went by the alias “Interstate Brinsley” on other social media sites. That alias is linked to Minc and Co., a company operated by Brinsley that, according to a Twitter account for the company, produced sexually-themed t-shirts.

The video Brinsley posted of Masjid At Taqwa on Feb. 28, 2013 is entitled “Time to pray in Brooklyn,” and it shows Brinsley walking down a Brooklyn street as a call to prayer is heard being broadcast from the Brooklyn-based mosque.

Watch a Green Comet Streak Across the Sky for Christmas

green cometDiscovered only this past August, comet Lovejoy (C/2014 Q2) is now quickly brightening to naked-eye visibility as it moves from the deep southern sky into prime viewing location for observers throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The comet is already putting on a Christmas show, glowing green thanks to molecules that glow when hit by the sun’s solar wind.

This icy visitor to the inner solar system was first spotted by its namesake, Terry Lovejoy, an Australian astronomer using a common backyard telescope with only an eight-inch mirror. He spotted the comet while it was still a very faint 15th magnitude.

The comet wasn’t predicted to become visible with the unaided eye until late January or February 2015. But comets can be unpredictable, with chaotic surface activity as they heat up and melt while nearing the sun during orbit. Since summer, the comet’s brightness has shot up by hundreds of times.

In fact, some observers in the Southern Hemisphere are reporting that it has brightened to magnitude 6, meaning that it has technically reached naked-eye levels already. It’s now an easy target to find with binoculars, showing up as a distinct hazy ball.

Outrage as Mayor de Blasio to Speak at Slain Cop's Funeral (+video)

By Kerry Picket. De Blasio’s office announced his plans in a press release Friday night. The funeral of Wenjian Liu, who was shot execution-style in the same squad car as Ramos on December 20, is still being arranged.

A petition circulated by the NYC Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch almost two weeks ago urged police officers to demand that de Blasio not attend their funerals if they die in the line of duty.

The petition was triggered after de Blasio made remarks in reaction to a Staten Island grand jury decision that did not indict NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo for the death of Eric Garner, a man Pantaleo restrained in a headlock during an attempted arrest in July. New York City law enforcement found themselves at odds with the mayor when he said his biracial 17-year old son Dante should be as fearful of the NYPD as the criminals in the city. Anti-Police Protestors Crash Memorial for Slain NYPD Officers

By Noah Rothman. Part of the reason for the major public rift between New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and the police forces he commands has been the freedom that anti-police protesters have enjoyed over the past several weeks.

New York Police Department officers chafed over allowing protesters, incensed over the decision of a Staten Island grand jury to issue no-bill over the killing of Eric Garner, to take over major arteries in the city. In the wake of that grand jury’s decision, protesters crowded the FDR Drive, halted traffic on the West Side Highway, temporarily blocked circulation in and out of the Lincoln Tunnel, and seized the Brooklyn Bridge. For commuters traveling over the Thanksgiving Holiday, the unmistakable impression they got was that New York’s new and inexperienced mayor was on the side of the protesters rather than those who were abiding by city and state laws.

According to a report via the well-connected Maggie Haberman and Glenn Thrush in Politico, those commuters were not entirely unmistaken. Though de Blasio may not have felt himself entirely in league with the protest movement, he certainly sought to cater to them so as to avoid inflaming an already volatile situation. . .

This disconnect between America’s elected officials, who have been effectively intimidated by a small but menacing anti-law enforcement protest movement and the greater public has, in part, fueled the backlash against the mayor’s office in the wake of the execution-style murder of two NYPD officers. Anti-de Blasio Banner Flown over NYC

By Sean Higgins. Rank and file New York City police officers dramatically escalated their feud with Mayor Bill De Blasio Friday. A group of them reportedly hired a plane to fly over the city while carrying a banner that said: “De Blasio Our Backs Have Turned To You.”

The plane reportedly flew five circles above the Hudson River before returning to a local airport.

John Cardillo, a retired NYC police officer, stated on his blog that he had arranged for the banner after hundreds of people on the police force asked him to do it on their behalf. The banner refers to an incident last week when cops literally turned their backs to De Blasio when he visited a hospital shortly after two Brooklyn cops, Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, had been fatally shot by a man who was reportedly motivated by his hatred of police.

The shooter was reportedly angered after a grand jury refused on Dec. 3 to indict a police officer in the July death of Eric Garner, a Staten Island man who had been allegedly selling illegal cigarettes. Garner died after being restrained in a chokehold, an incident that sparked mass city-wide anti-police protests. (Read more from this story HERE)

The Preacher Who Brought Down a Dictator

Romanian Pastor[H]ow many of us know the story of Laszlo Tokes, a Protestant pastor who in December 1989 stood up to the Romanian communist despot Nicolae Ceausescu and sparked a people’s revolution that freed Romania from a tyranny the equal of the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin?

In the spring of 1989, while other Soviet satellites were challenging their communist leaders, Romania remained in the iron grip of the totalitarian Ceausescu regime. Few dared to speak out against “President” Ceausescu and his Stalinist secret police, the Securitate.

A notable exception was 37-year-old Laszlo Tokes, the assistant pastor of the Hungarian Reformed Church in the Transylvanian town of Timisoara. The theme of his sermons was simple but arresting: “We do not have to support the dictatorship and the dictator Ceausescu.” No one had dared utter such a public challenge.

Ordered to stop preaching, Tokes refused. Directed to leave the apartment in which he and his family were living and move to a distant isolated town, he refused. In November, attackers armed with knives broke into his church apartment, but Tokes and friends fought them off. In mid-December when an eviction order was issued, members of Tokes’s congregation began a vigil outside his lodging, and a human chain formed around the block. . .

Two days later, on direct orders from Ceausescu, communist troops fired on a large crowd gathered in the town center of Timisoara, killing hundreds and perhaps thousands of innocents. This cowardly bloody act was the catalyst for a spontaneous people’s revolt that quickly spread across the country and to the capital city of Bucharest.

David Barton Wins Million-Dollar Defamation Suit

David Barton critics beware: There’s now a price to pay if you want to defame the popular historian, author and speaker with false and outlandish charges.

Barton won a $1 million defamation judgment in August against two left-leaning candidates for the Texas State Board of Education. The pair, Rebecca Bell-Metereau and Judy Jennings, charged in a 2010 campaign video that Barton, a consultant to the Board, was “known for speaking at white-supremacist rallies.”

That highly charged claim stems from two 1991 speeches Barton gave to groups linked to the racist and anti-Semitic “Christian Identity” movement. Barton, recognized as a strong friend of Israel, acknowledges speaking to the groups but said in court filings he did not know in advance about the racist ideology of his hosts.

Barton, the founder of WallBuilders, a group “dedicated to presenting America’s forgotten history and heroes,” later established a vetting system to avoid repeat engagements and has not addressed similar gatherings since. He told the court that he has given some 8,000 speeches in the two decades following his two 1991 speeches and that addressing “white-supremacist rallies” is not what he is known for.

After nearly three years of pre-trial wrangling, including a trip to the Texas Supreme Court, where Bell-Metereau and Jennings failed in their bid to have the suit dismissed, the two settled with Barton just before the case was to go to trial in July 2014.

NLRB Opens Door for SEIU at McDonalds

mcdonalds_muslimThe National Labor Relations Board took another step toward eliminating the franchise business model on Friday, opening the doors for unionization at some of America’s largest employers.

The agency’s top prosecutor, former union attorney Richard Griffin, is holding McDonalds responsible for alleged labor violations perpetrated by its franchisees, overturning decades of precedent.

“The complaints allege that McDonald’s USA, LLC and certain franchisees violated the rights of employees working at McDonald’s restaurants at various locations around the country by, among other things, making statements and taking actions against them for engaging in activities aimed at improving their wages and working conditions, including participating in nationwide fast food worker protests about their terms and conditions of employment during the past two years,” the agency said in a release.

Franchisors such as McDonald’s charge employers fees to operate under its corporate umbrella, but individual entrepreneurs manage business decisions, such as scheduling and pay, individually. Holding McDonalds liable for the actions of other actors threatens to undo the entire business model, according to Robert Cresanti, vice president of the International Franchising Association.

“Put yourself in the shoes of a small business person who has just invested their life savings in a new franchise,”Cresanti said. “Now they no longer own their business as a group of unelected government bureaucrats have just jeopardized whether they control their employees or not.”

Sheriff: Man Who Killed Would-Be Home Intruder ‘Acted Lawfully’

By WFAA. A man who repeatedly rang a doorbell and knocked on a front door was fatally shot Friday morning by the homeowner after the two fought in a yard, authorities said Friday. . .

The incident occurred about 4 a.m. Friday in the Shale Creek neighborhood just off Texas 114 in rural Wise County near the Wise and Denton county line.

“The homeowner armed himself and went outside,” Walker said. “That’s when he saw a man trying to jump a fence that was between his house and his neighbor’s home”. . .

“They fought briefly,” Walker said. “At some point, [Rigtrup] backed away from the man and told him he was armed. The man kept saying he needed to get inside of the house.”

Rigtrup – who had his wife and 14-year-old daughter inside the home – fired one shot at Crandall’s chest, killing him, Walker said. Police found him dead on the front porch. (Read more from this story HERE)

Homeowner Shoots Home Invader Holding Gun To Woman’s Neck

By Chuck Ross. A suspect in an armed home invasion is dead after he was confronted by an armed homeowner.

Two men began knocking on the front door of a North Memphis, Tenn. home on Tuesday. When a woman answered, the men barged in, and one of them — identified as 22-year-old Nico Carlisle — held a gun to the woman’s neck.

A male homeowner also inside the house heard the commotion, retrieved his own handgun, and fired several shots at the two men, hitting and killing Carlisle. (Read more about how armed homeowners protect themselves HERE)

13 Year Old Boy Saves Sister from Kidnapping

KidnappingA 13-year-old boy rescued his sister from a man attempting to kidnap her from their Lancaster home Saturday morning.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspected kidnapper was seen pacing near the home where the girl lived in the 300 block of West Kildare Street before noon.

He allegedly entered the fenced yard, asked the girl her name, before grabbing her and attempting to walk away with her, Lancaster sheriff’s deputies said. The victim’s older brother grabbed the victim’s arm and yelled for someone to call 911.

“He was definitely quick on his feet. He’s very responsible for his family and obviously his 4-year-old sister. So at this point, he is our hero for today,” Los Angeles County sheriff deputy Mighuel Ruiz said.

Lancaster deputies patrolling the area were flagged down by neighbors, who directed them to the suspect, later identified as 61-year-old Earl Williams.

Abandoned by Democrats, Obama Enlisting GOP Help to Pass Trans Pacific Partnership

Multinational corporation background conceptPresident Obama is preparing a major push on a vast free-trade zone that seeks to enlist Republicans as partners and test his premise that Washington can still find common ground on major initiatives.

It also will test his willingness to buck his own party in pursuit of a legacy-burnishing achievement. Already, fellow Democrats are accusing him of abandoning past promises on trade and potentially undermining his domestic priority of reducing income inequality. . .

The administration is moving aggressively in hopes of wrapping up negotiations by the middle of next year on a 12-nation free-trade pact in the Asia-Pacific region before the politics become even more daunting ahead of the 2016 presidential campaign. . .

At issue is Obama’s support for the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which would establish the world’s largest free-trade zone. The administration has touted the deal as a way to boost U.S. exports to Asia at a time when the United States faces increasing competition from China.

The TPP aims to lower tariffs, establish guidelines on patents and copyrights, and level competition for international companies that compete with government-backed businesses. The first major test could come next month, when Senate Republicans are expected to put forward legislation that would grant U.S. trade negotiators “fast-track authority” to reach final terms that could not be changed by Congress before an up-or-down vote.
