Obama Kills Tax Cut Because It Didn’t Help His Illegals

By Neil Munro.

President Barack Obama quietly killed a draft tax-cut because the GOP leadership wouldn’t agree to his demand that valuable tax breaks be given to millions of illegal immigrants, according to a Politico article about the secret negotiations.

Just before Thanksgiving, “the deal fell apart just as it seemed to be coming together… [because] Republicans worried undocumented immigrants targeted by [Obama’s Nov. 21 amnesty] would begin claiming the credits,” Politico reported.

The GOP leadership’s reluctance to award tax-breaks to illegals suggests top leaders may use the required December budget bill to deny funds to operate Obama’s promised amnesty. So far, GOP leaders have not said if they will block the amnesty funds — despite growing GOP grassroots pressure — partly because Democrats are threatening to block the complete budget if the amnesty is blocked.

The now-dead tax bill, dubbed the “tax extenders package,” is a grab-bag of tax breaks that are usually passed late in every congressional session. If the bill is not passed, businesses and voters will both face tax increases.

This year’s draft bill was expanded to include more tax-breaks for businesses, and was reputedly valued at more than $400 billion over 10 years.

The 10 Steps America Should Take on Immigration Reform

By David Inserra.

President Obama’s executive action on immigration further damages our malfunctioning immigration system and, more importantly, threatens to upend our entire governing system.

The president’s program shreds the rule of law and encourages even more illegal immigration. Moreover, Obama is abandoning his oath of office to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”

Obama’s own words condemn his actions: On at least a dozen occasions over the last six years, he has unequivocally denied having the constitutional power to do what he just announced he will do.

As a counter to the president’s lawless, administrative amnesty for as many as 5 million illegal immigrants, The Heritage Foundation recently outlined a far different approach: a 10-step checklist for what the executive branch should do to repair and revitalize America’s immigration system.

1) Rescind those instruments of executive policy making that directly contradict the stated goals, spirit and letter of our laws.

LUIS GUTIERREZ: ‘MY RESPONSIBILITY’ TO REGISTER AS MANY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AS I CAN FOR EXEC AMNESTY

By Tony Lee.

On Tuesday, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) said it is now his goal and “responsibility” to register as many illegal immigrants as he can for President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty.

He appeared on MSNBC before he joined Obama at a Polish community center in Chicago to help explain why amnesty “is important for America.” Gutierrez said that after demanding that Obama enact a broad executive amnesty, it is “my responsibility, now that he has done the executive action, to sign up as many people as possible.” He said he would be going around the country signing up illegal immigrants and allowing them to pre-register for executive amnesty when the applications become available in six months.

Benham Brothers on Anti-Duggar Campaign: ‘Truth Is Considered Hate to Those Who Hate The Truth’

Jason and David Benham, two Christian entrepreneurs who have been targeted by gay activists for their belief in traditional marriage, are speaking out about the campaign by those same activists who are seeking the cancellation of the popular TLC television series “19 Kids and Counting,” accusing the Duggar family of “fear mongering.”

“Since when is it considered ‘fear mongering’ to say that God designed a man to be with a woman, or that kids deserve to have a mom and a dad, or that the ladies room should be for biological females?” David Benham told CNSNews.com. “Saying the Duggars are inciting people to hate is simply propaganda.”

An activist launched a Change.org petition on Aug. 20 entitled “End LGBT fear mongering by the Duggars” after matriarch Michelle Duggar spoke out against an ordinance being considered by the city council in Fayetteville, Ark., that would allow transgender people to use any public restroom. The petition said she was “spreading ignorance and hatred.”

Activists also targeted her eldest son Josh Duggar, who works for the Family Research Council, a conservative Christian advocacy organization, in the petition. Media reports have made references to the controversial Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which has labeled FRC a “hate group.”

“Truth is considered hate to those who hate the truth,” Jason Benham told CNSNews.com. “George Orwell said it even better, ‘The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.’”

WATCH: Obama's Thanksgiving Confession — "I Just Took an Action to Change the Law"

The great thing about Obama’s TelePrompter is that when he stops reading from it, he slips up and tells the truth.

Daniel Halper:

The White House has argued that President Obama’s executive amnesty order last week was made well within the existing law. But in remarks in Chicago…, President Obama went off script and admitted that in fact he unilaterally made changes to the law.

President Obama made the admission after getting heckled for several minutes by immigration protesters.

“Now, you’re absolutely right that there have been significant numbers of deportations. That’s true. But what you are not paying attention to is the fact that I just took an action to change the law.”

Obama on Ferguson Grand-Jury Decision: ‘This Is an Issue for America’

By Zeke J Miller.

President Barack Obama appealed for calm Monday evening after the announcement that a grand jury declined to indict the Ferguson, Mo., police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown after an encounter in August.

Speaking from the White House about an hour after St. Louis County prosecutor Robert McCulloch announced the long-awaited decision involving the officer, Darren Wilson, Obama called for the incident to spark a larger discussion of race issues in America.

“We need to recognize that the situation in Ferguson speaks to the broader challenges we still face as a nation,” he said. “In too many parts of this country, a deep distrust exists between law enforcement and communities of color.”

Grand jury in Ferguson case does not indict officer in Michael Brown shooting

By Fox News.

There were 29 arrests made after protesters fired more than 100 gunshots, burned dozens buildings, looted stores and vandalized police cars in Ferguson, Mo. after a grand jury did not indict a police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in August, St. Louis Unified Command said in a press conference Tuesday morning.

Heavily armed police fired pepper spray and smoke canisters to disperse the crowds of protesters. Police seized a .45 mm automatic handgun as well.

“We have no loss of life, but I am disappointed the night turned out this way,” St. Louis Police Department Chief Jon Belmar said.

Belmar said he heard more than 150 shots ring off in the night.

“What I’ve seen tonight is probably worse than the worst night we had in August,” Belmar said.

Violence in Ferguson After No Indictment Announced

By JIM SUHR and ANDALE GROSS.

Protesters smashed windows out of police cars and businesses, several of which were later set ablaze, and officers lobbed tear gas from inside armored vehicles to disperse crowds Monday as violence overtook protests in Ferguson.

Some of the hundreds of people who gathered outside the Ferguson Police Department erupted in anger as St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch’s announced that Officer Darren Wilson, who is white, wouldn’t be indicted in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was black and unarmed.

Protesters overran a barricade and taunted police. Some chanted “murderer” and others threw rocks and bottles. Gun shots rang out a several points during the night, though it was not immediately clear if anyone was hit or any arrests were made related to the gunfire.

Important Medicare Changes for 2015: What You Need to Know

medicare_crisisMillions of seniors are going to have to dig deeper to pay for their Medicare benefits next year, thanks to rising costs for healthcare and medication.

AARP is warning members that nearly 10 million seniors with Medicare Part D drug policies could face rising prescription premium costs in 2015. Those enrolled in six of the 10 largest drug plans could face hikes ranging from 11 percent to 52 percent, if they don’t switch to different, less costly alternatives.

Another 3.5 million members enrolled in three other large plans will see premiums drop by 13 percent to 31 percent when the new policies kick in, Jan. 1.

The projections — from Avalere Health, which tracks healthcare trends — are a critical reminder that Medicare’s private plans can change their costs and benefits every year to reflect rising costs of medical care, driven in part by healthcare reform changes under Obamacare.

Open enrollment for Medicare continues through Dec. 7, giving Medicare beneficiaries the chance to compare and contrast dozens of private drug plans offered through Part D for next year.

Obama Daughters Display Their Annoyance During Annual ‘Turkey Pardon’

0 (5)By Amanda Shea.

It’s tough being a teen, especially if your last name is Obama and you live in the White House and have to participate in ceremonies full of pomp and circumstance, such as “pardoning” a turkey. That’s the pain Sasha and Malia felt today as their “teen contempt” was on full display while they stood next to dear old dad who was full of Thanksgiving puns at the annual event.

The 16 and 13-year-old daughters accompanied their presidential father and could barely contain their disdain for the production. The visual clues were confirmed by Malia when Barack Obama asked his daughter if she would like to pet the pardoned turkey, “Cheese.” Malia, the oldest of the two girls, simply said, “Nah.”

Who can blame their annoyance in the course of this event when their father used it as a platform to make bad jokes about amnesty, by saying many Americans will likely compare the pardon to letting in droves of illegals into the country. “I know some will call this amnesty, but don’t worry, there’s plenty of turkey to go around,” he remarked.

2-Minute Thanksgiving Ad Warns of Rogue President

CDC Brings Good News: Abortions Decline to Historic Low

10480177_10152851424975396_4971774265667172344_n33% of Pregnancies Used to End in Abortion, Now Just 18%

By Steven Ertelt.

The Centers for Disease Control released its national abortion report on Friday and the new figured show the number of abortions in the United States has declined to a historic low. From 2010 to 2011, the total number and rate of reported abortions decreased 5% and the abortion ratio decreased 4%, and from 2002 to 2011.

Although 730,322 babies lost their lives in abortions in 2011, the latest year CDC has produced figures for, that represents a decline of about half since the highs of more than 1.5 million in the late 1980s, when the effect of legalizing abortion in 1973 finally took its full effect.

The new CDC report also indicates the abortion rate has also declined to a historic low. At their high decades ago, approximately 1 in 3 pregnancies ended in an abortion — resulting in brochures, banners and billboards proclaiming that fact and greying out every third baby displayed in pictures of newborn children. Thanks to pro-life laws, educational efforts, pregnancy centers and the actions of pro-life groups that have resulted in closing down abortion clinics, now just 18 percent of all pregnancies in the United States end in an abortion.

“Large decreases in the total number, rate, and ratio of reported abortions from 2010 to 2011, in combination with decreases that occurred during 2008-2010, resulted in historic lows for all three measures of abortion,” said the CDC.

18-Year-Old’s Short Film on Abortion Will Blow Your Mind

By Nancy Flanders.

One decision can change everything. Mitosis, a short film from 18-year-old director Hannah Victoria (Worth Saving), aims to prove that. It may seem that the choices we make for ourselves will affect us and us alone, but it simply isn’t true. There is always a ripple effect, whether small or large.

Mitosis tells the story of a young doctor, who after making a promise to a childhood friend, sets out to find a cure for cancer. The film, from Victoria’s company Expressionistic Studios, was released on YouTube this week and promises to shine a light on the magnitude of damage each and every abortion could have on the world.

WATCH: A UC Davis Economics Professor Says 'There Is No American Dream'

A UC Davis economics professor has determined there is no American Dream.

Gregory Clark is sharing his research as a hard truth with no hope—whether or not you can get ahead in America is as predictable as any formula.

In fact, he says, the formulas for social mobility in the United States show there’s nothing to dream about.

“America has no higher rate of social mobility than medieval England, Or pre-industrial Sweden,” he said. “That’s the most difficult part of talking about social mobility is because it is shattering people s dreams.”

Clark crunched the numbers in the U.S. from the past 100 years. His data shows the so-called American Dream—where hard work leads to more opportunities—is an illusion in the United States, and that social mobility here is no different than in the rest of the world.

Prisoners Rake In Millions from IRS in Bogus Refund Claims

Hundreds of thousands of prisoners are filing phony tax refund claims and the IRS is not doing enough to quash the problem, according to a watchdog report.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) said in its report Tuesday that refund fraud associated with prisoner Social Security numbers is a “significant problem” for the tax agency that is only getting worse over time.

According to the report, more than 137,000 phony tax returns were filed in 2012 using a prisoner’s Social Security number to the tune of $1 billion. While many of the fake refunds were flagged and prevented by the agency, the IRS issued $70 million in bogus refunds.

This was a significant increase from 2007, when more than 37,000 fake tax returns were filed for amounts equaling $166 million.

“Tax refund fraud associated with prisoners remains a significant problem for tax administration,” the report said.
