Two Alaska State Troopers were shot and killed Thursday when they were conducting an investigation in the Interior Alaska village of Tanana, the agency and a local shopkeeper said.

Killed were Sgt. Patrick “Scott” Johnson and trooper Gabriel “Gabe” Rich,” agency spokeswoman Megan Peters said in a release. Both worked out of the troopers’ Fairbanks rural service unit.

Troopers have released few details about the incident in the isolated community located about 130 miles west of Fairbanks, other than saying one person has been detained. No roads lead to Tanana and travel there is mainly by aircraft. Residents live a largely subsistence lifestyle.

The troopers had gone to Tanana to follow up on a Wednesday night report that someone “had brandished a firearm in the village,” Peters said, adding she didn’t immediately have any further details of what happened.

GOP Senate Candidate Thrown Out Of Press Meeting After Calling Out Disrespectful Reporter (+video)

Oregon Republican candidate for Senate Mark Callahan was thrown out of a meeting with reporters from local alternative newspaper Willamette Week after chastising a reporter for writing “blah blah blah” in his notepad as another candidate explained her policy positions.

A group of GOP Senate hopefuls each seeking the Oregon paper’s endorsement sat down with a group of Willamette Week reporters. One candidate, Joe Rae Perkins, called into the meeting to explain her political platform. But not all the journalists were interested — and Callahan happened to notice.

“You want to talk about disrespect, I see what you’re writing down there,” he angrily accused reporter Nigel Jaquiss. “You just wrote down ‘blah blah blah blah blah’ for everything that Joe Rae said. Joe Rae is a respectable woman. Why are you not respecting her by writing ‘blah blah blah blah blah’ on your notepad?”

The moderator suggested that Callahan “move on” and answer the next question “respectfully.”

“You have to give respect in order to get respect,” he shot back. “Right now on that side of the table, you’re not giving very much respect to the five of us and our time here.”

Horror: Why Did This Cop Fire 4 Shots At A Teen Girl, Killing Her?

Family and friends of 19-year-old Samantha Ramsey are overcome with grief — and demanding answers — after a cop fired four shots into a car the teen was driving. Ramsey was struck by one of the bullets and died on scene.

Dashcam footage shows the encounter seconds before Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Brockman fired four shots into a car full of teenagers. Brockman was standing on the highway in front of his vehicle as Ramsey slowly pulled her vehicle in front of him. He shined his flashlight into her face and appeared to signal her to stop the car, but she continues moving the vehicle out of dashcam view. Seconds later, Brockman fired four shots, causing the car to careen into a ditch, according to Fox 19.

Two passengers exited the vehicle. The driver, Ramsey, had been shot. She was taken away in an ambulance, but had died on scene, according to The Huffington Post.

Brockman claimed Ramsey tried to run him over, and he fired the shots in self-defense. The dashcam footage complicates this narrative, however.

Even so, it is difficult to imagine a scenario that justified the shooting, which could have harmed multiple people. There were four people in the car in total.

Rush Limbaugh: Why Media Ignores Benghazi

By Lucy Mccalmont.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Friday that the mainstream media is not covering Benghazi because it is an issue that he and Fox News are interested in.

“There are a lot of reporters who will discount Benghazi simply because of who is interested in it,” Limbaugh said, according to a transcript of his radio program “The Rush Limbaugh Show.” “For example, Fox is interested in it and it automatically is nothing. If I’m interested in it it doesn’t rate any interest, because Fox and me, all we want is to get Obama.”

Slamming its coverage of the 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic in Benghazi that left the ambassador and three others dead, Limbaugh said of the mainstream media, “They’re working with the regime to cover it up.”

Where was Obama? Question resurfaces of president’s whereabouts during Benghazi attack

By Fox News.

Republican senators on Friday put pressure on President Obama to confirm his whereabouts during the night of the Benghazi attack, after an ex-White House spokesman revived the debate by telling Fox News he was not in the Situation Room.

The detail about the president’s location the night of the attack is just one of many revelations that have, in a matter of days, kicked up the controversy to a level not seen since last year. After new emails were released raising questions about the White House response to the attack, a key panel on Friday subpoenaed Secretary of State John Kerry and House Speaker John Boehner announced a special investigative committee.

On Friday afternoon, three GOP senators wrote a letter to Obama asking about his whereabouts and spokesman Tommy Vietor’s comments to Fox News.

“Last night, the former Communications Director for the National Security Council, Tommy Vietor, stated that on the afternoon and night of September 11, 2012 — while the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya was under attack — that you never visited the White House Situation Room to monitor events,” they wrote.

Claiming that Americans still do not have an “accounting of your activities during the attack,” the senators asked him to confirm Vietor’s account. The letter was signed by Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz.; Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; and Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H.

Utah Lawmaker Moves to Disarm BLM, IRS, Says ‘They’re Not Paramilitary Units’

Rep. Chris Stewart of Utah, concerned about the armed agents that surrounded Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s property, is mulling a measure to cut funding for any “paramilitary units” that work for the Bureau of Land Management, the Internal Revenue Service and other federal regulatory agencies.

“There are lots of people who are really concerned when the BLM shows up with its own SWAT team,” he said, the Salt Lake Tribune reported. “They’re regulatory agencies. They’re not paramilitary units, and I think that concerns a lot of us.”

His mulled amendment to an appropriations bill comes in context of recent BLM actions against Mr. Bundy: The federal agents armed themselves and surrounded his property, tasered his son, closed down road access to the ranch and even shot a couple of his prize bulls. The reasons? Mr. Bundy hadn’t paid his grazing fees to the federal government, but rather fought the matter in court.

Militia from all over the nation came to the ranch to support Mr. Bundy in his standoff with the BLM — and for that, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid labeled them “domestic terrorists,” various media reported.

Our Baby Boy Lived Less Than Five Hours But She’s Still the “World’s Best Mom”

Matt Wessell is a musician who lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin who has shared a story that is touching thousands of people. He writes at https://mattwessel.wordpress.com/ about his son who lived just a short period of time and his wife, who he rightly considers a wonderful mom despite the fact that their son didn’t live very long.

Here is the tender story from Matt as he writes it at his blog:

“World’s Best Mom”

That’s a lofty title, I know. And believe it or not, I know her. Even more amazing (to me) is that I’m married to her.

One might think the world’s best mom would be someone with years of motherly experience and a number of kids — someone who has been doing it for a long time. My wife, Katie, doesn’t come close to qualifying under those terms.

You see, we’re new parents. Our first son, Randol Thomas, was born on Thursday at 12:56 a.m. at the incredibly young gestational age of 25 weeks and 4 days. That happy moment had a sad ending when our baby boy lost his life later that morning at 5:20 a.m. after struggling for hours to try and breathe with what we knew were severely underdeveloped lungs — something we knew would be an issue after my wife’s water broke at just 18 weeks.

So how could she possibly be crowned ‘world’s best mom’ when she has only had one child, who only lived for a few hours? Allow me to explain…

Enviro Group Accuses Wyoming of Choosing ‘Coal Over Kids’ by Rejecting Climate Change Curriculum

An environmental group is taking its fight against fossil fuel into the classroom, accusing officials in the nation’s largest coal-producing state of choosing coal over kids.

Climate Parents, which has 38,000 members nationally and aims to motivate parents “from every walk of life” to take action against climate change, has mounted an aggressive campaign in The Cowboy State after lawmakers blocked the state’s board of education from adopting a science curriculum that regards man-made climate change as a fact.

“The Board of Education could push back against political meddling and assert its authority over setting science standards, but it will take an outcry from parents and science supporters from Wyoming and throughout the country,” the group’s website reads. “Tell the Wyoming State Board of Education to stand up for Wyoming students and adopt 21st century science standards that include climate science education by signing the petition below.”

The petition, which had been shared on Facebook more than 1,000 times as of Friday, calls for supporters to back “world-class science standards” that must include instruction on climate science. It contains a photograph of six children alongside three large smokestacks and the phrase: “Coal Over Kids?”

Horowitz: Nothing Clever about Winning with Lies and Special Interest Riches

GOP Civil WarOver the past few weeks, political news outlets have been filled with articles beaming about the masterful strategy of the GOP establishment in crushing grassroots challenges. They smugly celebrate the wily tactics of Senator Mitch McConnell, the Chamber of Commerce, and Crossroads in counterattacking the Tea Party. But when you think past the initial headline, you will find that there is nothing special, clever, or innovative about their strategy. It is quite simple.

Members of the political class, which is comprised of the leaders in both parties, support unconstitutional policies, corporate welfare, amnesty for illegals, consistent debt ceiling increases, federal control of local functions, and anything else demanded by the dominant moneyed interests. In return, they receive unlimited campaign support in the form of direct contributions and independent expenditures that are carefully coordinated with their candidates through McConnell’s network of the Chamber, NRSC, and Karl Rove – as outlined by National Journal.

In comes a grassroots candidate from the country class. Needless to say, unless they are a billionaire, they struggle to collect small donations from patriotic citizens in order to develop a modicum of legitimacy and grow their name ID with the electorate. In fact, it is precisely because these candidates support principle over power that they have a difficult time raising money – at least anywhere near the scale of the political class. There is a clear inverse relationship between principled stances on the issues and raising money.

The campaign finance “inequality” has been further exacerbated by McCain-Soros campaign finance laws that place upstart candidates at a disadvantage. They lack a large network of donors, but might know of a handful of patriots who are willing to fully support the candidate. However, they are hamstrung by caps on individual contributions.

Challenging the political class in both open seats (or Democrat seats) and incumbent seats would be arduous enough if the only inherent problem was the money gap. But there are two more challenges: defining of the candidate and ideological lies.

Chris Stigall spoke with comedian Rob Schneider on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about the struggle comedians face in today’s current political environment.

Schneider struck on ominous tone when discussing the path he sees the country on.

“Democracies don’t end well. We are sliding very fast towards fascism. It’s an ugly kind of thing. There’s this kind of mob mentality that we have to be careful of,” he said.

He believes comedians are pressured toward one side of the political spectrum.
