Another student on the bus saw the toy and yelled to the driver.

“She said he caused quite a disturbance on the bus and that the children were traumatized,” said Crane.

Obama Selectively Quoted Osama bin Laden in War on Terror Speech (+video)

President Obama is being accused of selectively quoting Usama bin Laden, by using a snippet of an anti-America screed to make it sound like Al Qaeda was breaking under the weight of the U.S. drone program.

Obama quoted the Al Qaeda leader during his wide-ranging speech on counterterrorism policy last Thursday in Washington. As part of his argument in defense of the lethal drone program, Obama suggested bin Laden himself deemed the strikes to be effective.

“Don’t take my word for it,” Obama said. “In the intelligence gathered at bin Laden’s compound, we found that he wrote, ‘We could lose the reserves to enemy’s airstrikes. We cannot fight airstrikes with explosives.'”

It is without question that the strikes have killed key terror leaders, and have changed the way Al Qaeda and its affiliates operate. The bin Laden document Obama referenced said as much.

But the document — one of several bin Laden writings published by West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center — showed bin Laden discussing how drones strikes have changed his organization’s tactics, not necessarily how they have Al Qaeda on the run.

Albanian Socialist Candidate for President Campaigning with Obama’s Picture

Photo Credit: Daily Caller President Barack Obama met with Socialist Party of Albania leader Edi Rama at a recent San Francisco campaign fundraiser. Rama is currently using a picture of the two politicians to help win next month’s Albanian elections and take over as prime minister.

Rama’s Socialist Party, which has been Albania’s largest opposition party since 2005, is reportedly expected to win the country’s June elections and unseat Democratic Party prime minister Sali Berisha, who has led the country since 2005.

What’s Really Going on in Syria? It’s Terrorist vs. Terrorist

Photo Credit: APAs Syria’s civil war increasingly spills across its borders, a weekend speech by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah marked one of the most significant developments in the conflict so far: The world’s foremost Shi’ite terrorist group effectively declared war on the world’s leading Sunni terrorist movement.

Nasrallah committed his Lebanon-based group to defending Syrian President Bashar Assad, but directed much of his vitriol towards radical Sunni “takfiris,” including al-Qaeda, whom he said were “dominating” the anti-Assad opposition.

(“Takfiri” is a term used to describe Muslims who accuse other Muslims of apostasy; al-Qaeda and other radical Sunnis regard Shi’ites as apostates. Assad is an Alawite, a Shia sect.)

In his address by video-link to supporters gathered in eastern Lebanon’s Bekaa valley, Nasrallah characterized “the resistance” – that is, Hezbollah – as defending not just its ally in Syria but also Lebanon and “Palestine” against a U.S.- and Israeli-backed “takfiri” conspiracy.

“What future do you expect in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine with the presence of these takfiris?” he asked. “Syria is the resistance’s main supporter and the resistance cannot stand still and let [takfiris] break its backbone.”

Official Cross-Dressing Day for Kids Sparks Outrage

Photo Credit: Liz HenryIt was part of a week of school spirit festivities in Milwaukee that included theme days such as Crazy Hair Day and events were routine for students and parents until the schedule hit “Gender-Bender” Day.

Then parents reacted.

Negatively.

“I do not want to send my son to school dressed like a girl,” one parent told Fox 6 News, which reported on the dispute.

The fight focused on the idea that school officials should not be telling students of grade school age to dress like the opposite sex.

The report from Fox said the school, when confronted by concerns about a “gender-bender” day, did decide to alter the name to “Switch it up.”

But the focus remained the same, said critics.

Workers PO’d: Union Boss Makes $156K per Year, Reportedly Works Two Hours per Day

Photo Credit; NY PostUnion fat cat Mark Rosenthal spends more time sleeping at his desk than organizing labor, a series of damning photos reveals.

The 400-pound president of Local 983 of District Council 37 — the city’s largest blue-collar municipal-workers union — often downs a huge meal, then drops into dreamland in the early afternoon, members of the union’s executive board told The Post.

“He eats lunch when he arrives at work at 2 p.m. Then, like clockwork, he goes to sleep with a cup of soda on the table and the straw in it,” said Marvin Robbins, a union vice president.

“Then he wakes up, looks at his watch and says, ‘I have to get out before the traffic gets bad.’ He’s usually out by 4 p.m. after being at the office two hours.”

Rosenthal is a former Parks Department employee who rose to power campaigning to rid the union of corruption in the late 1990s.

Congressional ‘Success’ Story: 20% of all New Laws are for Naming Post Offices

Photo Credit: Shan213Pillory Congress all you want as do-nothing or dysfunctional, as its critics often have. But in one respect, lawmakers in the Capitol are remarkably productive: they name post offices like nobody’s business.

A new report from the Congressional Research Service, the nonpartisan research division of Congress, found that about 20 percent of laws passed in recent years were for naming post offices.

As Congress has become less and less efficient, the numbers are all the more striking. In the 111th Congress, which met from 2009 to 2010, members passed 383 statutes, 70 of which named post offices. In the 112th Congress, the last Congress to meet before the current one convened in January, members passed 46 measures naming post offices, out of 240 statutes over all.

Like Dumber Follows Dumb, GOP Calls For Special Prosecutor for Holder (+video)

Photo Credit: YouTube Like dumber follows dumb, the scandal of politicized IRS tax enforcement has been followed by calls for a “special prosecutor.” Republicans are predictably leading this call against a Democratic Administration, but this is one case in which the GOP should hope it doesn’t get its way.

The case for a special counsel is that Attorney General Eric Holder can’t be trusted to investigate his Administration, and that the Administration will stonewall Congress. We don’t trust Mr. Holder either, but letting him pass the buck to a special prosecutor is doing him a favor. This scandal is best handled in Congressional hearings that educate the public in the next year rather than wait two or three years for potential indictments.

While it’s possible some T-men or White House officials broke the law, the heart of the matter so far is the extent of the selective tax enforcement against conservatives and why auditors thought that was kosher. Perhaps they were taking orders from their IRS bosses, or maybe they were responding to Democratic Senators, but whatever the case the public deserves to know.

Issa Subpoenas State Department for Benghazi Documents

Photo Credit: APRepublican Rep. Darrell Issa issued subpoenas Tuesday for a host of State Department emails and other communications on the Benghazi terror attack, signaling that the Obama administration’s recent document dump would not satisfy congressional investigators.

Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, claimed in a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry that the department is still “withholding documents.”

He demanded the department release more on the administration’s behind-the-scenes discussions, in the days after the attack, on how they would describe the strike. These documents have since become known as the “Benghazi talking points.”

“The State Department has not lived up to the administration’s broad and unambiguous promises of cooperation with Congress. Therefore, I am left with no alternative but to compel the State Department to produce relevant documents through a subpoena,” Issa wrote to Kerry.

Joe Miller’s Law Office Sustains Major Damage in Weekend Fire

Over the Memorial Day Weekend, senate candidate Joe Miller’s law office in downtown Fairbanks sustained thousands of dollars of damages in a freak fire that apparently started inside the ventilation system in the office.

Mr. Miller, an active member of the Alaska Bar Association who has practiced law in Alaska since the mid-1990’s and who has maintained a Fairbanks practice since 2002, is thankful that no one was hurt and that all sensitive client files were backed up and preserved off-site.

At the time of the fire, Mr. Miller was in Fairbanks, enjoying Memorial Day festivities at home with friends and family.

The fire damaged most of the interior of the office, causing extensive water, smoke and fire damage.
