Kamala Harris Missed ‘Big Opportunity’ With One Campaign Decision, Polling Expert Says — And It Could Cost Her the Election

Election data savant Nate Silver said over the weekend that Vice President Kamala Harris passed up a “big opportunity” with her choice of running mate, a move which polls indicate could cost the Democrat a crucial swing state.

The FiveThirtyEight founder wrote in his “Silver Bulletin” newsletter Sunday that the 59-year-old “blew one big opportunity to tack to the center with her selection of [Minnesota Gov.] Tim Walz rather than [Pennsylvania Gov.] Josh Shapiro.”

Silver was responding to a New York Times/Siena College poll which showed nearly half (47%) of likely voters considered Harris too liberal, a reflection of her abortive 2020 presidential campaign in which she staked out several far-left positions.

“[Harris] is a more talented politician than she showed in 2019, and it’s shame that her campaign that year was run by people who seemingly thought Elizabeth Warren was a right-winger,” Silver wrote. “I think Walz was a decent enough pick on his own merits, but given an opportunity to offer a tangible signal of the direction her presidency was headed, [Harris] reverted to 2019 mode.”

The potential selection of Shapiro had triggered backlash from far-left Democrats due to his support for Israel. Many critics said the criticism of the Jewish Shapiro was rooted in antisemitism and Silver wrote Sunday “that a tiny minority of progressives objected to Shapiro was an argument in Shapiro’s favor, if anything.” (Read more from “Kamala Harris Missed ‘Big Opportunity’ With One Campaign Decision, Polling Expert Says — And It Could Cost Her the Election” HERE)

Carnival Cruise Grazes Ice in Alaska, Passenger Compares It to Modern ‘Titanic Moment’

A Carnival cruise ship was undamaged after grazing a piece of ice in Alaska’s Tracy Arm Fjord last week — with one passenger dramatically comparing it to a modern “Titanic moment.”

The hull of the Carnival Spirit was assessed and no damages were found after the incident on Thursday, Carnival Cruise Line wrote in a statement to The Post.

The ship was able to continue on its seven-day journey without a hitch and is expected to dock in Seattle, Washington on Tuesday. . .

“If we die, it was damn well worth it,” passenger Cassandra Goskie said in a video she shared on TikTok. “It’s a Titanic moment.” (Read more from “Carnival Cruise Grazes Ice in Alaska, Passenger Compares It to Modern ‘Titanic Moment’” HERE)

Andrew Cuomo’s COVID Scandal: The Cover-Up That Couldn’t Hide the Truth

The political fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic continues to reverberate, with former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo now facing intense scrutiny over his handling of nursing home deaths during the crisis. A new report reveals that Cuomo’s office engaged in a deliberate cover-up to downplay the severity of COVID-19’s impact on nursing homes, casting a long shadow over his administration’s response.

According to the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, Cuomo’s office made “demonstrably false” statements while participating in what can only be described as a brazen attempt to obscure the truth. The New York Post has reported that Cuomo’s office was involved in editing state reports to minimize the death toll in nursing homes—a move that raises serious ethical and legal questions.

Cuomo’s administration issued a directive on March 25, 2020, requiring nursing homes to accept patients returning from hospitals, regardless of whether they were COVID-positive. The advisory explicitly stated that nursing homes could not deny admission based solely on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19. This policy, as reported by the New York Post, left nursing homes with no choice but to accept individuals who were known to pose a risk to other residents.

In a bid to deflect blame, Cuomo has attempted to shift responsibility to federal and state health officials. During an interview in June 2024, Cuomo argued that the state directive was no different from federal guidelines and suggested that it was not responsible for the tragic outcomes. Representative Marc Molinaro criticized Cuomo’s attempts to evade accountability, stating that the state’s directive was markedly different and led to a significant increase in deaths.

Cuomo’s defense of his administration’s policies has been consistently self-serving. He has frequently pointed fingers at others, including the federal government and other states like Florida, while downplaying the impact of his own directives. In a September 2020 interview with Finger Lakes Daily News, Cuomo claimed that New York had effectively “flattened the curve” and that the state did not force nursing homes to accept COVID-positive patients. This assertion stands in stark contrast to the evidence that his policies did indeed contribute to a significant rise in nursing home deaths.

The true extent of the tragedy may be even worse than currently reported. New York State has acknowledged over 6,600 nursing home deaths related to COVID-19. However, this number does not account for residents who initially contracted the virus in a nursing home but later died in a hospital. Some estimates suggest that the actual death toll could be twice as high. State Senator Tom O’Mara has co-sponsored a bill demanding a full and accurate accounting of these deaths, underscoring the need for transparency and accountability.

Cuomo’s reaction to the criticism has been to downplay his administration’s responsibility. He has insisted that the deaths were inevitable due to the virus’s predilection for senior citizens, rather than acknowledging the role of his own policies. Moreover, his boast that New York was “number 46 out of 50 states” in terms of percentage of nursing home deaths is a disingenuous attempt to shift the focus away from the catastrophic outcomes of his policies.

As the House Select Subcommittee prepares to interview Cuomo, the spotlight is on his administration’s actions and the subsequent cover-up.

Buyer Beware: Cancer Screening Is ‘Diagnosing Cancer That Isn’t Cancer’

Around the country, Americans have begun waking up to the possibility that the health care system is more interested in your wallet than it is in your cure.

Which is why extra caution should be taken when it comes to earth-shattering diagnoses like cancer.

“The ridiculous cancer screening programs that are designed to bring in customers to medical centers are diagnosing cancer that isn’t cancer,” Dr. Pam Popper, an internationally recognized expert on nutrition, medicine, and health and the founder and executive director of Wellness Forum Health tells Liz Wheeler of the “The Liz Wheeler Show.”

“In other words, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is not cancer, it’s a risk factor for breast cancer,” she continues. “A lot of people are being treated for cancer because they have risk factors, which is great for the industry, not so great for the patient.”

A major factor in preventing and/or curing cancer is diet, which conventional cancer doctors often don’t focus on.

Biden Admin Refused to Grant Nikki Haley Secret Service Protection Despite Iranian Threats

Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley remains without government-provided security, despite facing years of credible threats from Iranian-linked actors, including one revealed as recently as Thursday.

A source close to Haley told The Daily Wire that the former South Carolina governor was told in 2021 that Iran had placed her on a “kill list” because of her work at the UN. The FBI told Haley during her presidential campaign that Tehran was targeting her campaign.

Haley mentioned the FBI’s warning during her campaign. During a Sunday interview with CBS’s Face the Nation, Haley revealed that she was targeted by an Iranian-backed “murder-for-hire plot,” which was foiled in July.

“When I was running my presidential campaign the FBI had a separate hearing with me to let me know that Iran was influencing the election with our campaign to hurt me,” she said. “The murder-for-hire plot, named me. That’s by Iran.”

Revelation of the threats against Haley come as the Secret Service falls under scrutiny following the failed assassination attempt on President Trump in July at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally. In May Trump said Haley would “absolutely” be on his “team in some form” if he wins in November. During her CBS interview, Haley said she spoke to Trump in June and “he’s aware that I’m ready if he ever needs me” to campaign for him. Video Shows Massive Explosion Blow Roof off Prison Holding Former Vice President in Apparent Drone Attack

Ecuadorian government officials reportedly intercepted a drone attack on La Roca prison, a maximum-security facility housing former Vice President Jorge Glas, on Thursday.

The prison was targeted by a drone carrying explosives and was intercepted successfully, Ecuador’s “Security Block,” a joint task force of law enforcement and military personnel formed to combat drug trafficking, told Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The drone was reportedly used in an attempted “disabling” of the center imprisoning approximately 100 people, including Glas, a statement by the task force stated.

Glas served as Ecuador’s vice president under President Rafael Correa, his running mate, and then President briefly under President Lenin Moreno. He was arrested in April 2024 in a dramatic raid at the Mexican embassy in Quito, where he had sought political asylum.

Glas faced allegations that he was involved in a bribery scheme to secure rulings favorable toward a drug kingpin and his relations, according to The Associated Press (AP). The arrest sparked a diplomatic dispute between Ecuador and Mexico due to the breach of diplomatic norms. ‘Healthy’ Cooking Oil Can Rocket Bad Cholesterol Levels and Dementia Risk

With nearly half of all UK adults believed to be living with high cholesterol levels, health experts have warned that one ‘healthy’ oil could be causing more harm than good.

The condition has long been associated with heart and circulatory diseases, but recent research has suggested it can also rocket dementia risk by 30 percent. The updated Lancet Commission study on dementia prevention has identified high LDL cholesterol as a new risk factor for developing the neurodegenerative disease.

It also suggests that reducing this ‘bad’ cholesterol can help to delay or prevent the onset of dementia, as nearly 50 percent of cases across the world can be warded off, reports the Alzheimer’s Society. Increased exercise and healthier eating habits can help to lower cholesterol levels, but it can be difficult to know which silent killer foods to watch out for.

Nutritionist James Vickers, from Vitality, has branded coconut oil as the “worst” food for increasing cholesterol, despite its previous ‘healthy’ reputation. Existing research has hailed the oil as a good source of antioxidants, which provide anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and brain-protective effects, writes Healthline.

However, it contains more than 80 per cent saturated fat, which is known to raise cholesterol levels. LDL cholesterol ‘sticks’ to the blood vessel walls, causing obstructions, which increase the risk of strokes and heart attacks. ‘They’re Gonna Pay for It’: A Single Texas Billionaire May Be About to Force Greenpeace USA Into Bankruptcy

The Texas billionaire owner of a major pipeline company is on the precipice of potentially bankrupting Greenpeace USA, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.

Kelcy Warren’s company, Energy Transfer, is seeking legal recourse against Greenpeace’s American arm in court, alleging that several Greenpeace USA entities paid for attacks against the company’s Dakota Access Pipeline and proliferated misinformation about the firm and its project in 2016, according to the WSJ. At the time, the project was a flashpoint in the environmental movement’s crusade against major fossil fuel infrastructure developments, and it was ultimately completed in 2017.

“Everybody is afraid of these environmental groups and the fear that it may look wrong if you fight back with these people,” Warren said in a televised interview in 2017, according to the WSJ. “But what they did to us is wrong, and they’re gonna pay for it.”

Eco-activists flocked to the construction site of the pipeline in North Dakota in 2016 to try to stop the $3.8 billion project from being built, and clashes between the protesters and law enforcement occasionally turned violent, according to the WSJ. The lawsuit, which seeks $300 million in damages, would probably crush Greenpeace USA, though it does not pose such a threat to Greenpeace’s international operations because the organization’s main organizing body based in the Netherlands does not own assets in the U.S.

The company tried to sue in federal court first, and refiled the suit in a state court after a federal judge threw out the original litigation, according to the WSJ. Energy Transfer is pursuing the lawsuit under a law that was originally created to go after the mafia. Kamala Policy Page Touts DMZ Visit – Site of ‘Alliance With North Korea’ Gaffe – As Proof She Is ‘Ready’ on ‘Day 1’

Vice President Kamala Harris published a policy page on her official website Sunday promising she is “ready to be Commander in Chief on day one,” but she cited one of her most notorious foreign policy gaffes — claiming the United States has a “strong alliance” with North Korea — as evidence.

Harris’s presidential campaign debuted a slightly more detailed page of her stances on policy issues seven weeks after she replaced outgoing President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic Party ticket. The page focuses heavily on her experience as a prosecutor and attorney general in California but also features a more limited explanation of her stances on international issues.

“Vice President Harris is ready to be Commander in Chief on day one,” her campaign states. “Vice President Harris has been a tireless and effective diplomat on the world stage.”

A prime example listed on the “issues” page is her visit to the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in September 2022 in which she attempted to reassure the nascent government of conservative South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol of Biden’s commitment to supporting it against the persistent threat of a nuclear North Korea. Biden has not treated the Korean Peninsula as a foreign policy priority during his tenure. During his time in office, communist dictator Kim Jong-un has significantly expanded his influence internationally through broadening alliances with Russia and Iran.

Harris, her policy page states, “has met with China’s Xi Jinping, making clear she will always stand up for American interests in the face of China’s threats, and traveled to the Indo-Pacific four times to advance our economic and security partnerships.” (Read more from “Kamala Policy Page Touts DMZ Visit – Site of ‘Alliance With North Korea’ Gaffe – As Proof She Is ‘Ready’ on ‘Day 1’” HERE)

Californians Lose Power Again in Heat Wave Amid ‘Green Energy’ Push

California residents are once again struggling to keep the lights on after as many as 50,000 people lost electricity in a heat wave this past weekend that caused the famed Hollywood Bowl to cancel a concert due to the power outage.

The Hollywood Reporter noted:

The Hollywood Bowl was forced to cancel its Sept. 8 show due to a power outage.

The venue posted on its website that the concert, headlined by Vance Joy, had been called off.

The Reporter said that it was unclear what caused the outage, but KABC-7 blamed the heat:

The heat was affecting electrical equipment as utilities scrambled to dispatch crews.

That left many thousands of people without working air conditioning or refrigeration during one of the hottest days of the year.

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews were working as quickly as they could, restoring power to some 50,000 customers. But the wait can be miserable.
