Scientists Just Created Something We’ve Only Heard About in Superhero Movies. And It Changes Everything

Scientists have apparently developed a type of visible light communication (VLC) technology that can potentially transmit data using conventional lighting fixtures faster than WiFi.

An open access paper published first in 2018, and updated in early 2024, described how we could soon get rid of our WiFi modems and use VLCs because they could be a much, much faster means of transmitting information digitally. Unlike WiFi, which uses radio waves to transmit data, VLC uses sources of light to send data back and forth between devices, which can be over 100 times faster than the latter.

The process (software, tool??) is known colloquially as Li-Fi, and is a fully network system designed to incorporate ultraviolet light, infrared light and the visible light spectrum, according to Live Science. VLC hasn’t reached any kind of broad-scale adoption because it’s unidirectional, the light source has to be on all the time and it requires a direct line of sight with a receiver. But once these issues have been overcome, we could literally use our existing infrastructure to normalize the sharing of data.

This is both amazingly cool and good, but possibly the worst thing I’ve ever heard in my entire adult life.

Surrender: Biden Admin Tells Netanyahu Israel Can’t Defeat Hamas

Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week that Israel cannot defeat Hamas — that there is no “military solution,” and that Israel will have to accept a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu reportedly rejected the idea.

NBC News reported Wednesday that Blinken, and Biden, are therefore trying to work around Netanyahu — the democratically-elected leader of Israel — in a departure from the Biden administration’s posture as the supposed defender of democratic ideals:

Blinken told Netanyahu that ultimately there is no military solution to Hamas, according to the officials, and that the Israeli leader needs to recognize that or history will repeat itself and violence will continue. But, the officials said, Netanyahu was unmoved.

The officials said the Biden administration is trying to lay the groundwork with other Israeli and civil society leaders in anticipation of an eventual post-Netanyahu government. In an attempt to work around Netanyahu, Blinken also met individually with members of his war Cabinet and other Israeli leaders, including opposition leader and former Prime Minister Yair Lapid, officials said.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Charlamagne Tha God, host of The Breakfast Club, raised doubts about the viability of the Biden/Harris ticket for the upcoming presidential election. This comes in response to First Lady Jill Biden’s assertion that President Joe Biden has the “energy” and “vigor” to serve another term in office.

Charlamagne expressed skepticism, laughing at the idea and stating, “That’s really the conversation — is Joe Biden and Kamala Harris still a winnable ticket? I think Republicans should be asking themselves that, too. Is Donald Trump still a winnable ticket?”

While acknowledging current polls indicating Trump’s lead over Biden in a general election, Charlamagne remained uncertain, saying, “I don’t know. I really, truly don’t know. So to answer your question, uh, no. He doesn’t look full of vigor like his wife says. Not to me, anyway.”

Prosecutors: FBI Found Cocaine Residue on Hunter Biden’s Firearm Pouch

FBI investigators discovered powered cocaine on the firearm pouch Hunter Biden had used to hold the gun he allegedly purchased in October 2018, Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors said in a Tuesday court filing.

Special counsel David Weiss’ team filed a response motion to Hunter Biden’s selective prosecution claim and described how FBI investigators retrieved the alleged firearm in 2023 and found the alleged cocaine.

“In 2023, FBI investigators pulled sealed evidence from the state police vault to take photographs of the defendant’s firearm. After opening the evidence, FBI investigators observed a white powdery substance on the defendant’s brown leather pouch that had held the defendant’s firearm in October 2018,” the motion reads.

“Based on their training and experience, investigators believed that this substance was likely cocaine and that this evidence would corroborate the messages that investigators had obtained which showed the defendant buying and using drugs in October 2018. An FBI chemist subsequently analyzed the residue and determined that it was cocaine. To be clear, investigators literally found drugs on the pouch where the defendant had kept his gun,” the filing adds.

DOJ Finally Acknowledges Hunter Biden Laptop’s Legitimacy

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has, for the first time, officially acknowledged the legitimacy of the data found on Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop. The revelation comes as part of a court filing responding to Biden’s request to have federal firearm charges against him dismissed.

The court documents, filed on Tuesday, outline how IRS and FBI investigators obtained a search warrant for tax violations related to Biden, leading them to various backup data accounts. The filing underscores that investigators “already obtained” a substantial portion of the laptop data from Apple, including information from Biden’s iCloud account.

The court filings mention that investigators later acquired the physical laptop, which Biden had reportedly left at a computer store. A search warrant was obtained for the laptop, and the results were described as “largely duplicative of information investigators had already obtained from Apple.”

This acknowledgment marks a notable shift in the narrative surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop, which became a focal point of controversy before the 2020 election. Following the New York Post’s initial report on the laptop, Democratic officials, media outlets, and social media platforms faced backlash, with claims of “Russian disinformation” attempting to discredit the laptop’s contents. A letter from 51 former intelligence officials falsely asserting Russian involvement further fueled the narrative.

Social media giants Facebook and Twitter censored the New York Post’s reporting, and President Joe Biden himself referred to the laptop contents as “Russia disinformation” during his 2020 campaign. However, recent court filings by the DOJ confirm the authenticity of the laptop data, adding a new layer to the ongoing saga.

Despite initial efforts to dismiss the laptop contents as misinformation, the FBI reportedly knew of the authenticity of the laptop’s contents through an interview with Hunter Biden’s former business associate, Tony Bobulinski. Bobulinski confirmed the veracity of the laptop’s contents during an interview with the agency on October 23, 2020.

The DOJ’s recent acknowledgment is part of the response to Hunter Biden’s investigation for federal firearm charges, which his legal team sought to dismiss in December. Biden faces three federal gun charges related to an alleged illegal purchase of a revolver while battling drug addiction. While he pleaded not guilty in October 2023, the charges could carry a potential prison sentence of up to 25 years.

Poll: Donald Trump Dominates Joe Biden in Georgia

Former President Donald Trump has taken the lead over President Joe Biden in Georgia, the latest AJC poll found.

The survey showed Trump, the runaway frontrunner in the Republican primary race, leading the incumbent in the Peach State by eight percentage points — 45 percent to Biden’s 37 percent support.

Another seven percent said they supported an “other candidate,” six percent said they “will not vote,” and six percent said they “don’t know.”

What is more is Trump’s dominance among independent voters in Georgia, leading Biden by double digits — 54 percent to 37 percent.

Further, the AJC poll found that black voters, “the party’s most loyal constituency, are split” over Biden’s job performance. Overall, 62 percent of registered voters disapproved of Biden’s job performance:
