Russian Forces May Only Be Able to Fight Full Strength for 10-14 Days, Report Says

Russian forces may only be able to keep fighting at full strength for another two weeks, a senior UK defense official told The Daily Mail, as stiff Ukrainian defense has stalled the Russian invasion, now in its third weeks.

After 10-14 days, the official said Russia’s offensive will struggle to make any further progress in Ukraine, as defense forces continue to hold out against nearly non-stop air raids and artillery shellings.

“Ukraine has Russia on the run. It is running out of manpower and running out of energy. As long as we keep pressing they’ve got ten to 14 days before reaching their culminating point,” the defense official told the Mail. Third Wave Coming? China’s New COVID Lockdown Could Determine Fed’s Interest Rate Hike

China’s COVID lockdown of Shenzhen, the southern financial and manufacturing hub that neighbors Hong Kong, came as a shock.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index plunged five percent to its lowest level since 2016. The Hang Seng tech index crashed 11 percent. Chinese stocks that trade in New York fell sharply, with videogame maker NetEase, e-commerce giant JD.com, search and AI giant Baidu.com, farm-tech firm Pinduoduo among the worst performing stocks in the Nasdaq composite.

No market is an island, especially when China is involved, so the closing of Shenzhen sent a shockwave rippling through U.S. stocks. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 262.59 points, or 2 percent, to its lowest level since December 2020. Shares of Apple fell 2.7 percent, Amazon declined 2.5 percent, and Google shares tumbled three percent. Nothing calamitous, however. The S&P 500 was down just seven-tenths of a point, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average actually rose on the day. (Read more from “Third Wave Coming? Russia Is Requesting That China Provide Support for the Ongoing Invasion of Ukraine; US: China Faces Consequences if It Helps Russia

By New York Post. Russia asked China for assistance in its ongoing invasion of Ukraine, U.S. officials warn.

The New York Times reported that Russian officials sought military equipment and support from their Chinese counterparts as the invasion of Ukraine — launched last month by Russian President Vladimir Putin — continues.

Russian leaders also sought economic assistance from China to help lessen the burden of sanctions issued by Western nations that have devastated the Russian economy.

American officials declined to describe the specific hardware requested by the Russian government.

Jake Sullivan, President Biden’s national security adviser, said that China will “absolutely” face consequences if it chooses to support the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Fox News reported. (Read more from “Russia Is Requesting That China Provide Support for the Ongoing Invasion of Ukraine” HERE)

The Chinese embassy in Washington said it was not aware of this request.

Missiles Fired at US Consulate in Iraq Reportedly Came From Iran

The United States may find itself involved in another foreign policy crisis. Reports, as well as video footage, have indicated that several long-range ballistic missiles have been fired at the U.S. consulate in Erbil, Iraq. Writing for the Associated Press, Qassim Abdul-Zahra reported that at least six missiles have hit the consulate. Though reports are still coming in, with security officials from Iraq and the United States cited as saying there are no casualties at this time. . .

The Iran deal may have something to do with it:

One of the officials said the ballistic missiles were fired from Iran, without elaborating.

The attack comes several days after an Israeli strike near Damascus, Syria killed two members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Iran’s foreign ministry strongly condemned the attack Wednesday and vowed revenge.

On Sunday, Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency quoted Iraqi media acknowledging the attacks in Irbil, without saying where they originated.

Russia Takes Putin’s War Into Space

Vladimir Putin’s war is spreading to space: Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia’s space agency Roscosmos, is threatening to strand NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei aboard the International Space Station.

The threat to maroon the American — scheduled to touch down in Kazakhstan next month with two Russian cosmonauts aboard a Russian spacecraft — came after President Biden imposed sanctions over Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Rogozin, a close Putin ally, has also refused to launch a UK satellite company’s payloads, stopped supplying Russian-built rocket engines to US customers and even threatened to cut ties to NASA and disconnect the Russian section from the ISS. Deputy Secretary of State Predicts the War Will End ‘Very Badly for Ukrainian People’

Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman warned the war “looks like it ends very badly for Ukrainian people” during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

“Right now it looks like it ends very badly already for Ukrainian people. I think we all spend everyday just horrified by the suffering…” Sherman said. “As your reporter on the ground discussed, it is just awful particularly in Mariupol where people are either going to starve to death or freeze to death or die because they don’t have their medicine. It is truly horrifying.”

Sherman said President Joe Biden’s administration has put $1.2 billion in security assistance to help Ukraine defend itself. She also said the U.S. must put “enormous pressure” on Russian President Vladimir Putin to potentially convince him to stop his aggression in Eastern Europe. Does Putin Have ‘Roid Rage?’ Sources Believe Health Could Explain Despot’s Behavior: Report

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “increasingly erratic behavior” could be caused by ‘roid rage or a brain disorder such as dementia, according to a new report.

People close to the Kremlin and high-up Western intelligence sources told the Mail on Sunday they think there is a medical condition to explain the Russian despot’s reckless invasion of Ukraine and his bizarre other behavior.

“There has been an identifiable change in his decision-making over the past five years or so,” an unnamed security source told the Mail.

“Those around him see a marked change in the cogency and clarity of what he says and how he perceives the world around him,” the source said, adding that Putin is “simply not being briefed” now on the Russian army’s failures.

The sources speculated that Putin, 69, could have dementia, Parkinson’s disease or “roid rage” from potential cancer treatment that involves heavy steroid use. They also cited his recent bloated appearance as evidence he may be ill. (Read more from “Does Putin Have ‘Roid Rage?’ Sources Believe Health Could Explain Despot’s Behavior: Report” HERE)

Saudi Arabia Conducts One of Its Largest Mass Executions in Years

Saudi Arabia announced over the weekend that it had executed 81 people who were convicted of “terrorism and capital crimes” in what was one of the country’s largest mass executions in years.

The announcement comes despite the Kingdom’s promise to curb its use of capital punishment in an attempt to “clean up its image in recent years as it seeks to attract more tourism and business,” The New York Times reported. A human rights group told the Times that, out of the cases it could track, it had not found that any of the individuals who were executed actually met the criteria for execution.
