Foundational American Ally Approves Chinese Super-Embassy In Capital

The UK’s Labour Party-controlled government has approved plans for China to build a sprawling new embassy complex in central London, despite warnings from lawmakers, security officials, and Chinese dissidents who say the project poses serious national security risks.

British Housing Secretary Steve Reed formally signed off Tuesday on the 600,000-square-foot complex at Royal Mint Court, near the Tower of London and the city’s financial district. The approval comes just days before Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to visit China — the first by a British prime minister since 2018 — to boost diplomatic and economic ties with Beijing.

Critics have long warned that the embassy could be used for intelligence gathering or to monitor and intimidate Chinese nationals and dissidents living in the UK.

“Labour’s greenlighting of the Chinese Embassy has gifted the Chinese Communist Party a launchpad for economic warfare in the heart of London,” Alicia Kearns, the shadow minister for national security and safeguarding for the opposition Conservative Party, wrote on X following the decision. “What message does it send to the CPC which has committed cyber attacks, attempted to attack our parliament, and intimidates those who sought refuge here?”

China purchased the site in 2018 for roughly £255 million. The historic property, once used to mint Britain’s currency, faced repeated delays and legal challenges. Local authorities initially rejected the embassy plans in 2022 over safety and security concerns, prompting Beijing to pressure the UK government. Iran Accused of Killing 16,500 in Sweeping ‘Genocide’ Crackdown, Report Says

Iranian protesters are facing their deadliest days yet as security forces unleash mass killings and executions in a sweeping crackdown some have labeled “genocide,” new reports say.

According to The Sunday Times, a report compiled by doctors entrenched in the region and reviewed by the outlet, estimates that security forces have killed at least 16,500 protesters and injured more than 330,000 others.

The report also described the violence as an “utter slaughter,” warning that the true toll may be even higher due to restricted access to hospitals and the near-total shutdown of communications.

Most of the victims, the report says, are believed to be under the age of 30, underscoring the heavy toll on Iran’s younger generation as the regime intensifies its efforts to crush dissent.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei acknowledged Sunday that “several thousands” have been killed since protests erupted Dec. 28. (Read more from “Iran Accused of Killing 16,500 in Sweeping ‘Genocide’ Crackdown, Report Says” HERE)

Iran Issues Direct Assassination Threat Against President Trump

Iran broadcast a chilling threat against President Donald Trump on Wednesday, airing an image of the U.S. leader from the 2024 Butler, Pennsylvania assassination attempt with a stark warning: “This time it will not miss the target.”

The message appeared on Iranian state-run television and was reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP), marking what observers say is Tehran’s most explicit threat yet against the American president.

The image reportedly showed Trump bloodied from the 2024 campaign rally shooting in which he was struck in the ear by gunman Thomas Crooks. The photo was displayed during a pro-government rally in Iran, events that continue to be broadcast despite nationwide communications blackouts imposed amid ongoing anti-regime protests.

The threat comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran reach new highs. Trump has repeatedly condemned Iran’s violent crackdown on demonstrators and warned that the United States could take military action if the regime continues targeting protesters.

This is not the first time Iran has issued threats against Trump. In 2022, Iranian media released a video depicting a mock assassination attempt on Trump at his Mar-a-Lago golf course. That video resurfaced in 2024 after the arrest of Ryan Routh, who was apprehended while allegedly attempting to attack Trump at the same location.

U.S. authorities have also warned of real-world Iranian plots targeting the former and current president. The Justice Department revealed in 2024 that it had disrupted an alleged assassination plan directed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. Court documents stated that Iranian operative Farhad Shakeri had been tasked with organizing an effort to kill Trump.

The latest threat was broadcast as pro-regime rallies took place across Iran, with participants seen holding anti-American signs and chanting “Death to America!” in support of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian officials have encouraged such demonstrations in an effort to counter widespread public anger over the country’s economic crisis.

Since late December, Iran has been rocked by massive protests sparked by inflation, unemployment, and government corruption. According to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, more than 2,500 people have been killed in the regime’s crackdown, with thousands more arrested.

The unrest has sharply increased friction between Iran and the United States. Trump has openly supported the protesters and warned that military action remains an option if Tehran continues to brutalize its citizens.

Trump Tells Iranian Protesters ‘Help Is on the Way,’ Cancels Talks as Crackdown Intensifies

President Donald Trump issued one of his strongest public statements yet in support of anti-regime protesters in Iran as reports of a sweeping government crackdown continue to emerge, including mass arrests, executions, and rising civilian deaths.

As demonstrations against Iran’s ruling theocracy intensify, Trump announced that he has canceled all talks with Iranian officials, warned that those responsible for killing protesters will face consequences, and urged demonstrators to continue resisting the regime.

Posting Tuesday on Truth Social, Trump directly addressed Iranians taking part in the protests, encouraging them to persist and document abuses committed by government forces.

“Iranian patriots, keep protesting — take over your institutions,” Trump wrote, adding that protesters should record the names of those responsible for violence against civilians. He warned that those individuals “will pay a big price.”

Trump also said that diplomatic engagement with Tehran has been halted until the government ends its violent response to the demonstrations. “I have canceled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killing of protesters stops,” he said, assuring demonstrators that “help is on its way.”

Later the same day, Trump repeated and expanded on his remarks during public comments in Detroit, Michigan, where he spoke after touring a Ford truck plant in nearby Dearborn. While the event was billed as an economic appearance, Trump addressed the unrest in Iran directly, emphasizing that his message was intentional and deliberate.

“To all Iranian patriots, keep protesting,” Trump said. “Take over your institutions if possible, and save the names of the killers and the abusers that are abusing you.”
He stressed that even a single death during the crackdown was unacceptable. “One death is too much,” Trump said, again warning that those responsible would face severe consequences.

Trump also referenced new tariffs and economic penalties targeting individuals and entities doing business with Iran, describing them as part of a broader effort to pressure the regime while supporting the Iranian people.

Closing his remarks, Trump called on Iranians to reclaim their country, saying Iran had once been a great nation before falling under the control of its current rulers. He urged protesters to continue pushing for change, invoking his slogan “Make Iran Great Again.”

The statements come as U.S. officials have advised Americans to leave Iran, citing deteriorating security conditions as protests continue and reports of mass detentions and executions circulate.

Iranians Burn Down Mosques

Iranian demonstrators set mosques ablaze during heated protests against the country’s Islamic government, according to local video and reports this weekend.

Protesters in Iran have set numerous fires since the riots broke out Dec. 28, with Tehran’s fire department claiming as many as 34 mosques were burned, according to multiple outlets. One video verified by NBC News showed a crowd cheering Friday night while a Tehran mosque became engulfed in flames.

The mass uprising reportedly began in response to economic woes but follows months of instances of women shedding their mandatory headwear in a statement against the country’s forced Islamic norms. Another video posted by Reuters showed a mob vandalizing the Abuzar Mosque in Tehran on Thursday, scattering furniture and laying incendiary devices.

The Iranian regime has massacred hundreds while clamping down on the disorder, the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists in Iran reports, according to The New York Post. (Read more from “Iranians Burn Down Mosques” HERE)

Iran Protest Death Toll Rises as Alarm Grows over Crackdown ‘Massacre’

At least 192 protesters have been killed in Iran’s biggest movement against the Islamic republic in more than three years, a rights group said Sunday, as warnings grew that authorities were committing a “massacre” to quell the demonstrations.

The protests, initially sparked by anger over the rising cost of living, have now become a movement against the theocratic system in place in Iran since the 1979 revolution and have already lasted two weeks.

The mass rallies are one of the biggest challenges to the rule of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 86, coming in the wake of Israel’s 12-day war against the Islamic republic in June, which was backed by the United States.

Protests have swelled in recent days despite an internet blackout that has lasted more than 60 hours, according to monitor Netblocks, with activists warning the shutdown was limiting the flow of information and the actual toll risks being far higher.

“Since the start of the protests, Iran Human Rights has confirmed the killing of at least 192 protesters,” the Norway-based non-governmental organisation said, warning that the deaths “may be even more extensive than we currently imagine”. UK Allocates £200m to Prepare Troops to Deploy to Ukraine, France Reportedly Ready to Send 6K Soldiers

The British government has announced that it has allocated £200 million to begin preparing the UK Armed Forces for deployment to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping force in the event of an armistice between Kyiv and Moscow.

Following the signing of a declaration of intent by the British and French governments with Ukraine in Paris this week, the Ministry of Defence said on Friday that £200 million has been allocated to help British troops be “ready to deploy if required” to Ukraine.

Additionally, the funds will go toward upgrading military vehicles and communication systems, as well as purchasing new counter-drone protection systems for the British arm of the Multinational Force for Ukraine (MNFU).

The MoD said that the funds demonstrate “a clear signal to allies and adversaries of the UK’s intent to lead the MNFU, fulfil our promises to secure the peace in Ukraine and deliver a ‘new deal’ for European security to make Britain safer.”

Speaking during a visit to Kyiv, Defence Secretary John Healey MP said: “As we approach the fifth year of Putin’s full-scale invasion, the Ukrainians continue to fight with huge courage – civilians and military alike. Syrian Army Orders Evacuations as Fighting Intensifies in Kurdish Aleppo

The Syrian Army on Thursday told residents of Kurdish neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo to evacuate in the face of airstrikes, even as the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said it was winning the intensifying battle for control of the city.

Aleppo has been restless since mid-December, when tensions between the Kurds and the military government headed by former al-Qaeda lieutenant Ahmed al-Sharaa boiled over into a skirmish at a security checkpoint.

The SDF was a major U.S. ally during the war against the Islamic State and it has been pushing for a degree of autonomy from Sharaa’s government, which took control after seizing Damascus and ousting dictator Bashar Assad in December 2024.

The autonomous zone claimed by the SDF includes a swath of northeastern territory and portions of Aleppo, the most important city in the region. The SDF has its own internal police force, known as the Asayish, which operates in the Kurdish-majority districts of the divided city. The checkpoint where fighting broke out in December was jointly manned by the Syrian Army and the Asayish. Each blames the other for shooting first and triggering the conflict.

The situation in Aleppo seemed to stabilize after a few days in December, but on Tuesday a fresh round of even more intense fighting broke out, displacing thousands of civilians and killing at least four. Tens of thousands of Kurdish civilians were seen fleeing Aleppo for the presumably safer ethnic enclave of Afrin. Reports: China Expected to Replace Venezuelan Oil with Iranian Crude

Oil industry analysts expect China to replace its oil imports from Venezuela with increased purchases of Iranian crude, following the arrest of China’s ally Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces over the weekend.

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Maduro’s successor, interim president Delcy Rodríguez, and other Venezuelan officials have agreed to sell up to $2 billion in crude oil to the United States. The deal would divert oil coveted by China to U.S. refineries.

Trump explicitly instructed Rodríguez to evict Chinese, Russian, Iranian, and Cuban agents from Venezuela and sever all economic ties with those nations. He also demanded exclusive contracts and favorable prices with American refiners for Venezuelan crude oil. The socialist Maduro regime long ago destroyed Venezuela’s refining capacity, so the oil-rich but desperately impoverished nation is heavily reliant upon foreign refineries.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly told U.S. lawmakers that Venezuela has filled every available tanker and storage facility with crude oil, frustrated by Trump’s blockade on sanctions-defying oil shipments, and the post-Maduro government faces financial collapse in a few weeks if it cannot generate income by selling its crude oil. These two factors would presumably make Caracas receptive to Trump’s demands to divert its shipments from China to the United States.

Trump said on Tuesday that Venezuela would hand over 30 million to 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States immediately. Other administration sources said shipments to American refiners would continue “indefinitely” thereafter, with the profits to be held in U.S.-controlled accounts and shares released back to Venezuela at U.S. discretion. Most of that oil would have otherwise gone to China. (Read more from “Reports: China Expected to Replace Venezuelan Oil with Iranian Crude” HERE)

Judge Presiding Over Netanyahu Corruption Case Killed in Highway Collision

Judge Benny Sagi, president of Israel’s Beersheba District Court, who presided over the corruption case against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was killed in a traffic accident on Route 6 when a vehicle struck his motorcycle.

Police said the vehicle had been driving off-road, entered the highway, and collided with Sagi’s motorcycle, according to Israeli media.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the crash, which occurred near the Kfar Menachem kibbutz. Officers from the Kiryat Malachi police station, along with traffic accident investigators, are examining the scene.
