Four Babies in NYC Have Recently Gotten Herpes From Controversial Jewish Circumcision Ritual

A seldom-practiced religious ritual has led to a cluster of herpes cases among infants, New York City health officials said Sunday. At least four infants have contracted the potentially fatal viral disease since last September, all after undergoing a circumcision during which the circumciser placed their mouth on the genital wound.

Last September, health officials issued a public health alert about the practice, known as metzitzah b’peh, following a case of neonatal herpes reported to the New York City Health Department. On Sunday, the Wall Street Journal reported there have been three more cases documented in NYC since December.

Jewish circumcision nowadays rarely involves any oral contact between the baby’s genitals and the circumciser, or mohel, and is actively discouraged by the community at large. But the ancient practice of suction—said to cleanse the wound—is still performed within some ultra-orthodox communities. 1999: Bloomberg Bragged About Scoring 16-Year-Old Daughter Dates in China

Democrat presidential hopeful Mike Bloomberg once bragged about scoring his 16-year-old daughter dates in multiple Chinese cities while visiting the country on business.

The former New York City mayor, who is under fire for helping suppress news reports critical of China’s communist regime, made the awkward comments while hobnobbing with young “Wall Street traders” at a Boston College alumni dinner in 1999, according to Wired magazine profile.

“My daughter is tall and busty and blonde,” Michael Bloomberg is telling a table of Boston College graduates. “We went to China together. And what’s a 16-year-old going to do on a business trip?” He pops another carefully buttered piece of bread in his mouth. “So I got her dates in every city in China.” Remembering that I’m also at the table, he glares in my direction. “That’s off the record!” he barks. It’s typical Mike Bloomberg, wanting to have it both ways: imperious man of the people, coarse billionaire, earthy business leader, accessible control freak.

At the time of the dinner, Bloomberg was first emerging on the political stage as a contender to replace then-term limited New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Even though Bloomberg would succeed in his quest for the mayoralty, eventually serving three terms in city hall, his 1999 comments foreshadowed a businesslike approach to the U.S.-China relationship.

As mayor, Bloomberg often championed policies that seemed copied right out of Beijing’s playbook. For instance, the Bloomberg administration in 2012 sought to ban the use of baby formula in hospitals across New York City, arguing breast feeding was a better alternative. The policy, like many of Bloomberg’s other health initiatives, was modeled off steps the Chinese regime took to promote breast feeding after its food safety protocols were called into question by a 2008 scandal involving infant formula being adulterated with melamine—a compound used when manufacturing plastic. Democrats Block Bill Requiring Medical Care for Babies Who Survive Being Aborted (VIDEO)

Senate Democrats voted Tuesday to block legislation that would have required medical care be provided to babies who survive being aborted, stopping the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. . .

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska sponsored the bill, which needed the support of 60 senators in order to advance. Ahead of the vote, Sasse took to the Senate floor to lambaste Democrats attempting to paint his legislation as an abortion bill.

“The piece of legislation we’re voting on today, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, is not about abortion,” Sasse said, according to National Review. “The bill we’re voting on doesn’t change anyone’s access to abortion. It doesn’t have anything to do with Roe v Wade. It is about babies that are already born.”

Sasse pointed to CNN’s coverage of the measure, where the outlet described his bill as requiring “abortion providers to work to ‘preserve the life and health’ of a fetus that was born following an attempted abortion as they would for a newborn baby.” . . .

In the end, the final tally was 56-41, with every vote against coming from Democrats. Fox News noted that the only three senators who crossed party lines on the legislation were Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Doug Jones (Ala.), and Bob Casey (Pa.).

FLASHBACK: Mike Bloomberg Received Planned Parenthood’s Award For Promoting Abortion

Democrat presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg received Planned Parenthood’s Global Citizen Award at the abortion giant’s annual gala in March 2014.

“I obviously care about a woman’s right to choose,” Bloomberg said as he accepted his award. “I think a woman shouldn’t be forced into doing anything. She’s got to make the decision. It’s her body and I understand that.”

The former New York City mayor said in his acceptance speech that his foundation would invest “$50 million into a major expansion of our efforts in Tanzania” and into “Uganda, Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Nicaragua,” where he and Planned Parenthood would work to overturn pro-life laws. . .

He said, “In some countries, our funding will help advocates work towards better sexual health policies for teens and better access to contraceptives.”

“In others, it will help push for less restrictive abortion laws and more government funding for high quality accessible services,” Bloomberg continued as he encouraged his audience to applaud. Georgia At The Center Of Clash Between Religious And Gay And Transgender Groups Over Adoption

Gay and transgender groups are on a collision course with religious adoption groups in Georgia as legislators advance a bill designed to protect religious freedom for adoption agencies.

The bill, which was read on Tuesday and is expected to work its way through the Senate in the coming weeks, ensures that adoption agencies would not be forced to place children anywhere that “violates certain religious or moral convictions.” It has raised an outcry from gay and transgender advocates.

Democratic state Rep. Matthew Wilson, a gay member of the legislature, criticized the bill upon its introduction in February as “hateful discrimination, pure and simple.”

The bill’s sponsor, Republican state Sen. Marty Harbin, countered by saying that his bill was only intended to protect the freedom of choice for mothers about how their children will be raised. . .

Advocacy groups have clashed over the bill as well. The gay and transgender rights group Georgia Equality criticizes the protections as “unconscionable,” according to a spokesman. On the other hand, religious groups have praised the effort for seeking to ensure “the welfare of children.” (Read more from “Georgia At The Center Of Clash Between Religious And Gay And Transgender Groups Over Adoption” HERE)

A Major Study That Fueled National Vape Panic Has Been Retracted

After months of pressure from the scientific community, the American Heart Association’s academic journal on Tuesday evening retracted a widely circulated vaping study, which claimed that using e-cigarettes increased the likelihood of having a heart attack.

Last June, the authors, Stanton Glantz and Dharma Bhatta of the University of California San Francisco, stated in the original study that vaping and smoking cigarettes posed a similar risk, while doing both at the same time was an even more dangerous option. Following its publication in the summer, the peer-reviewed research was referenced by major news organizations, including CNN, Yahoo News, and USA Today.

In a statement explaining the retraction, editors at the Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA) expressed worry that the study may have been based on misleading data. . .

JAHA pulled the paper after Brad Rodu, a tobacco control expert at the University of Louisville, noted that many of the vapers Glantz and Bhatta analyzed for the study were also current or former smokers. Rodu argued that there was a possibility that the use of combustible cigarettes is what made them more likely to suffer heart attacks. BOMBSHELL: Somali Leader Claims Ilhan Omar Did Marry Her Brother

‘Squad’ congresswoman Ilhan Omar told friends years ago that the man who went on to become her second husband was in fact her brother, DailyMail.com can confirm.

And now for the first time one of those friends has come forward to reveal exactly how Omar and Ahmed Elmi scandalized the Somali community in Minneapolis.

Abdihakim Osman is the first person to go on record to speak of how Omar said she wanted to get her brother papers so he could stay in the United States, at a time when she was married to her first husband Ahmed Hirsi. . .

‘No one knew there had been a wedding until the media turned up the marriage certificate years later,’ Osman, 40, exclusively told DailyMail.com.

Osman’s revelations are sure to renew calls for an investigation into the Minnesota freshman representative who has repeatedly refused to answer questions on her marriage to Elmi. (Read more from “BOMBSHELL: Somali Leader Claims Ilhan Omar Did Marry Her Brother” HERE)

Female Prisoner Claims She Was Raped By A Transgender Inmate And That The Prison Covered It Up

A female prisoner at the Logan Correctional Center in Illinois is suing the prison for reportedly covering up her alleged sexual assault at the hands of a transgender inmate last year.

The woman, who is identified as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, alleged that an inmate who “identifies as female, but still has male genitalia” was moved into her housing unit last summer and immediately began to “express interest” in her, according to a report by WTTW-TV.

In the lawsuit, she recalled that she was “terrified of this inmate as the inmate was much bigger and stronger” and because she had heard that the inmate “had assaulted prior cellmates and had been convicted of murder.”

The woman then said she was raped by the inmate, but that after she reported the incident to authorities only a “sham investigation” ensued.

The woman alleged that she was told by an officer “that he did not believe her and he pressured Plaintiff to say there was no sexual assault.” She said she was “coerced” into saying the encounter was consensual and soon after filed a grievance with the Illinois Department of Corrections. Chris Pratt Reveals That Frozen Bodies Were Found At Icelandic Filming Site. The Details Might Shock You

Actor Chris Pratt claimed the frozen bodies of a couple who disappeared decades ago while hiking were found at a film site.

The bodies were discovered at the filming location of “The Tomorrow War,” Pratt told Ellen DeGeneres during Wednesday’s episode of “The Ellen Show.” The “fully preserved” couple was discovered weeks before the film crew trekked to the summit, the actor admitted.

“They had been there for over 80 years, and sadly, they didn’t make it,” Pratt said on the show. “They were fully preserved in their glacier hiking clothes from 1930 or 1940. They had their supplies and rations. They were lovers and they fell down in a hole and just went missing and just recently were found.”

“Isn’t that wild?” he added. “Thankfully, we got out and nobody fell in any holes … that we’re reporting.”

Local police could not confirm Pratt’s story, according to Icelandic reporter Ingunn Lára Kristjánsdóttir, Insider reported. (Read more from “Chris Pratt Reveals That Frozen Bodies Were Found At Icelandic Filming Site. The Details Might Shock You” HERE)

Hospitals to Deny Care to ‘Racist’ or ‘Homophobic’ Patients

Patients deemed to be “racist” or “homophobic” will be denied care in NHS Trust hospitals under new rules set to take effect in April.

“Currently, staff can refuse to treat non-critical patients who are verbally aggressive or physically violent towards them,” reports Sky News. “But these protections will extend to any harassment, bullying or discrimination, including homophobic, sexist or racist remarks.” . . .

What is determined to be “racist” or “homophobic” is anyone’s guess, since many elderly patients will be totally unfamiliar with modern politically correct speech codes and could be deemed to have behaved in a racist or homophobic way even if they didn’t maliciously intend to.

As Jack Montgomery highlights, “In late 2017 an NHS patient who requested a female nurse to carry out a cervical smear complained when the hospital sent a person with “an obviously male appearance… close-cropped hair, a male facial appearance and voice, large number of tattoos and facial stubble” who insisted “My gender is not male. I’m a transsexual.”

The line between critical and non-critcal care is also up for debate. Will refusal to treat a patient because they said something someone deems offensive result in accidental deaths? (Read more from “Hospitals to Deny Care to ‘Racist’ or ‘Homophobic’ Patients” HERE)
