Covington Mom Speaks out About the Viral Encounter

A Covington High School mother is speaking out about the viral video clip depicting an encounter between a group of pro-life teen boys, and a Native American activist.

On Tuesday’s “Fox and Friends,” Jill Hamlin described what initially lead up to the confrontation. She explained that the teens from the all-boys’ Catholic school in Kentucky had attended the March for Life, as they do every year, and found themselves being verbally attacked at the Lincoln Memorial by a group called the Black Hebrew Israelites. . .

“I think they were targeted for what they stood for… which is Christianity, the right for life, and they were singled out and I believe partially because of the color of their skin they were targeted,” Hamlin said.

When the initial video of the incident was released Saturday–on a Twitter account which has since been suspended–it appeared to show the teen boys mocking a Native American man, Nathan Phillips. Though the boys were widely condemned across social media, extended footage of the encounter released later revealed that theywere the ones being harrassed.

“We were there for the March for Life – it’s an annual trip that the Covington Catholic High School goes to and we meet every year at the Lincoln Memorial at the end of the day to catch our buses,” Hamlin said. “We were not there for any other purpose other than to attend the peaceful March for Life, which we did.” (Read more from “Covington Mom Speaks out About the Viral Encounter” HERE)

Democratic Congressman Who Called Trump a ‘Grand Wizard’ Says He Never Called the President Racist

By The Blaze. House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) defended his Martin Luther King Jr. Day comments likening President Donald Trump to a Ku Klux Klan “grand wizard” by saying he never called the commander in chief racist. . .

During a speech at an MLK event on Monday, Jeffries said, “We have a hater in the White House,” and then he called Trump “the grand wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”

In an apparent attempt to clarify his comments, the congressman told CNN Wednesday that he doesn’t regret his statements “at all.”

“With respect to the comments of a few days ago, we’ve got to have an opportunity for at least one day a year to have a candid — if sometimes uncomfortable — conversation about race,” he explained.

“Seems to me that we can’t have that conversation on Valentine’s Day, we can’t have that conversation on St. Patrick’s Day,” he continued. “It’s perhaps appropriate for us to be able to have that difficult discussion on MLK Day when we’re celebrating the life and legacy of a champion for racial and social justice.” (Read more from “Democratic Congressman Who Called Trump a ‘Grand Wizard’ Says He Never Called the President Racist” HERE)

Jeffries Says Trump Isn’t a Racist but Defends ‘Grand Wizard’ Comparison

By Politico. House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries said Wednesday that he does not believe President Donald Trump — whom he referred to earlier this week as “the grand wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” — is a racist, only that he has a history of “racially insensitive remarks.”

At an event Monday marking Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the New York Democrat ripped Trump’s record on race relations, at one point labeling the president a “grand wizard,” the title for a leader of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group that has terrorized black Americans since the 1800s.

“We have a hater in the White House. A birther in chief. The grand wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. One of the things that we’ve learned is that while Jim Crow may be dead, he’s still got some nieces and nephews that are alive and well,” Jeffries said at the MLK day event in New York. HORROR: State Set to Legalize Abortion up to Birth

The womb will become an even less safe place for unborn babies in New York come Tuesday. Democrat legislators are set to legalize abortion up to birth and remove the fatal procedure from the state’s criminal code altogether with the passing of the euphemistically named Reproductive Health Act.

The proposed legislation erases the current limitation on abortion in the state, which is set at 24 weeks. The Reproductive Health Act states, “every individual who becomes pregnant has the fundamental right to choose to carry the pregnancy to term, to give birth to a child, or to have an abortion.”

So long as a licensed practitioner acts in “good faith,” a baby can be murdered in the womb up to birth in order “to protect the patient’s life or health.” Notably, the meaning of the word “health” is not defined within the legislation.

“A health care practitioner licensed, certified, or authorized under title eight of the education law, acting within his or her lawful scope of practice, may perform an abortion when, according to the practitioner’s reasonable and good faith professional judgment based on the facts of the patient’s case: the patient is within twenty-four weeks from the commencement of pregnancy, or there is an absence of fetal viability, or the abortion is necessary to protect the patient’s life or health,” reads the legislation. . .

“The bill also removes abortion from the definition of homicide, and from the penal code entirely,” reports the Times Union. “Opponents say this limits prosecutors when they look to charge individuals who harm a woman’s unborn child in a domestic violence case or otherwise. Supporters say, in such cases, there remain plenty of other, much harsher criminal charges at prosecutors’ disposal.” (Read more from “HORROR: State Set to Legalize Abortion up to Birth” HERE)

White Couple Who ‘Identify as Black’ Say Their Children Will Be Born Black

A recently married white couple, who identify as black, claimed on ITV’s “This Morning” show that their future biological children would be born with black skin. . .

Martina Big said on the show Monday that her doctors have assured her that she would give birth to a black child after undergoing her transformation from a white woman to an African woman, Daily Mail reported. . .

Big, who is an erotic model in Germany, made headlines after having melatonin injections to darken her skin so that she could transform herself from a white woman to a black woman. Big’s husband Michael Eurwen, 31, has also received synthetic hormone injections to darken his skin. . .

“One of my Kenyan friends told her pastor about my transformation to a black woman and told him how much I wanted to become a true African woman,” she wrote on Facebook at the time, according to the Mail.

“In his sermon the pastor said: ‘You have to be born again and now you are a new creature.’ I’m so happy and proud to be a real African woman :)” (Read more from “White Couple Who ‘Identify as Black’ Say Their Children Will Be Born Black” HERE)

College Students ‘in Tears’ Over a Banana Peel in a Tree – This Is the Ridiculous Reason Why

By The Blaze. An off-campus Greek Life event held by leaders of Ole Miss last weekend was cancelled after many students became troubled by a banana peel, which was hanging from a campus tree. . .

Ole Miss Greek Life leaders cut their three-day leadership retreat to nearby Camp Hopewell short after black students discovered a banana peel dangling in a tree outside of one of the camp’s cabins.

The banana peel was later spotted by Alpha Kappa Alpha President, Makala McNeil, a leader from one of the campus’s historically black sororities.

The Daily Mississippian reported that McNeil had just left a group discussion about race relations when she spotted the banana peel in the tree. . .

In a letter obtained by The Daily Mississippian, Arndt was quoted as saying that “members of our community were hurt, frightened, and upset by what occurred.” (Read more from “College Students ‘in Tears’ Over a Banana Peel in a Tree – This Is the Ridiculous Reason Why” HERE)

Ole Miss Greek Life Retreat Ends Abruptly With Bias Concerns

By The Daily Mississippian. This weekend, leaders from Ole Miss Greek life convened upon Camp Hopewell in Lafayette County for a three-day retreat designed to build leaders and bring campus closer together. The retreat was cut short Saturday night, however, after three black students found a banana peel in a tree in front of one of the camp’s cabins.

The students shared what they found with National Pan-Hellenic Council leaders, sparking a day’s worth of camp-wide conversation surrounding symbolism, intended or not. In the midst of the open and sometimes heated discussion, senior accounting major Ryan Swanson said he put the banana peel in the tree when he could not find a trashcan nearby. . .

“To be clear, many members of our community were hurt, frightened, and upset by what occurred at IMPACT … Because of the underlying reality many students of color endure on a daily basis, the conversation manifested into a larger conversation about race relations today at the University of Mississippi,” Arndt wrote in the letter acquired by The DM. . .

“It was so strange and surreal to see it there,” McNeil said. “We were all just sort of paranoid for a second.” (Read more from “Ole Miss Greek Life Retreat Ends Abruptly With Bias Concerns” HERE)

Hollywood Actress Apologizes for Getting the Covington Story Wrong, Did Others?

Over the weekend, media painted the narrative that a group of Catholic high school students harassed Native American veterans in Washington, D.C., before having to retract their reports and publish apologies when the fuller story came out. It turns out that the students were not looking to pick a fight with the veterans, who were participating in an Indigenous Peoples March, and video footage showed that the veterans were the first ones to approach them. In a statement telling his side of the story, the junior who was the source of derision this weekend, Nick Sandmann, explained that he was actually trying to diffuse the situation. He was startled by the confrontation, which could explain that strange look on his face that has been circulating on social media.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis was one of several people to say sorry for jumping too quickly to conclusions.

Planned Parenthood’s New Annual Report Shows Increase in Abortions, Taxpayer Funding, and Excess Revenue

Planned Parenthood released its annual report for the 2017-2018 fiscal year quietly over the weekend. The report revealed that the number of abortions the group did this past year increased by over 11,000 from 321,384 in 2016 to 332,757.

Another number that increased in their annual report was the amount of federal funding the nation’s largest abortion provider received. The group received $543.7 million in taxpayer funding in 2016 and that number increased by $20 million to $563.8 million in 2017-2018.

While the number of abortions and the amount of taxpayer dollars the abortion group received both increased, almost every other category of the group’s services went down. . .

While the number of patients is the same, the organization’s excess of revenue over expenses continued its dramatic increase and more than doubled from $77.5 million in 2015 and $98.5 million in 2016 to a whopping $244.8 million in 2017. . .

A notably absent element of the report was any mention of their sponsorship of the Women’s March which was prominently featured in the 2016-2017 report. While the abortion group did sponsor the march this past weekend, it was despite a controversy over anti-Semitism from the Women’s March leaders that caused previous partners, including the DNC and the SPLC, to remove their support. Watch: Shapiro Smashes Pro-Abortion Arguments at March for Life

Festivities for the 2019 March for Life kicked off Friday with a live broadcast of “The Ben Shapiro Show,” which the popular conservative commentator devoted to an overview of the case against abortion and common “pro-choice” arguments.

After taking the stage to enthusiastic cheers, Shapiro noted that this was the first time both at the March and doing a full hour themed around a specific issue, then quoted several pro-abortion statements from former President Barack Obama, including that God should “bless” Planned Parenthood.

“I know the March for Life has gotten a lot of flack for allowing me to broadcast from this stage because I’m a political partisan, because I don’t hide the fact that I’m conservative,” he said. “But the fact is that the pro-life position does not have to be a partisan issue. The only reason that so many folks believe it to be a partisan issue is because, unfortunately, one party in this country has decided to embrace the full-on abortion-till-point-of-birth position.” . . .

The “viability” argument, that preborn babies don’t have a right to the life if they can’t live on their own “obviously doesn’t hold,” he said, because infants and many elderly are dependent on others, as well. As for the notion that the difficulty of parenting justifies abortion, Shapiro noted that raising children was difficult “because it’s the most important thing we do […] there is nothing moral about the idea that you think you’ll be a bad parent so you get to kill the child.” (Read more from “Watch: Shapiro Smashes Pro-Abortion Arguments at March for Life” HERE)

Ocasio-Cortez Refuses to Condemn Anti-Semitism

On Saturday, January 19, 2018 New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended the Women’s March in Washington, DC despite the group’s association with anti-semitism. The Democratic National Committee and numerous colleagues recently disavowed and dropped partnership with the Women’s March due to bigoted comments amongst its national leaders. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was asked about this yesterday and shifted the blame of anti-semitism to President Donald Trump and his current administration while refusing to answer the question. . .

Other reports said that from the very beginning of the Women’s March, a movement claimed to be founded as fighting for the rights and empowerment of all women, Mallory and co-chair Carmen Perez “asserted that Jewish people bore a special collective responsibility as exploiters of black and brown people—and even, according to a close secondhand source, claimed that Jews were proven to have been leaders of the American slave trade.”

When asked about these hateful comments, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez said that America needed to “center this conversation. I think that concerns of anti-semitism with this current administration and the White House are absolutely valid.”

“We need to make sure that we are protecting the Jewish community and all who feel vulnerable in this moment,” she added.”…it’s so important to recognize why all these women are coming together…to make sure the rights of all women are protected and advanced. And so I know in my heart that all of the New Yorkers that are coming down here and downtown are coming in that spirit and not in the other spirit.”

A Federal Appeals Court Just Took a Big Swing at Planned Parenthood

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals lifted an injunction forbidding Texas from stripping Planned Parenthood of Medicaid funds Thursday, while stridently criticizing the abortion provider for its rhetoric and medical practices.

“Planned Parenthood’s reprehensible conduct, captured in undercover videos, proves that it is not a ‘qualified’ provider under the Medicaid Act, so we are confident we will ultimately prevail,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement after Thursday’s ruling.

The case arose after a pro-life group called the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood violating medical and ethical standards codified in federal law and state regulations. Texas terminated its Medicaid provider agreement with Planned Parenthood shortly thereafter, citing infractions documented in the videos.

In turn, Planned Parenthood asked a federal court to restore its Medicaid funding. Thursday’s ruling — which related to a jurisdictional issue in that case — is especially striking for its numerous rebukes of Planned Parenthood. Judge Edith Jones, a Ronald Reagan appointee, delivered the opinion. . .

In another instance, the decision all but accuses Planned Parenthood of breaking federal law banning partial birth abortions. The ruling highlights a CMP video in which an administrator called Dr. Tram Nguyen said doctors at one facility could evacuate an intact fetus — thereby breaking federal law — provided they sign a form that they did not “intend” to do so. Such procedures allow researchers to recover organs like the thymus or the liver. (Read more from “A Federal Appeals Court Just Took a Big Swing at Planned Parenthood” HERE)
