PETA Wants People to Stop Using Language ‘Offensive’ to Animals

On Tuesday, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) issued a tweet calling for human beings to stop using “anti-animal language” and using “speciesism” in conversations. . .

But then, PETA may have better things to do, such as freeing animal crackers from their cages. In August, Peta wrote in a letter to the makers of Barnum’s animal crackers, “Given the egregious cruelty inherent in circuses that use animals and the public’s swelling opposition to the exploitation of animals used for entertainment, we urge Nabisco to update its packaging in order to show animals who are free to roam in their natural habitats.”

Or arguing that cheese is sexist, as they did in August 2017, stating, “Contrary to popular belief, female cows produce milk only when they’re pregnant or nursing. They make milk for the same reason that human women do: to feed their babies. Cows who are imprisoned on dairy farms are forcibly impregnated through artificial insemination again and again on rape racks. Rape racks. All for your milk, cheese, and yogurt.” . . .

There may not be enough time for PETA to address all of those statements regarding animals, with everything else on their plate. (Read more from “PETA Wants People to Stop Using Language ‘Offensive’ to Animals” HERE)

Women Now Claim This Popular Disney Song Promotes Sexual Assault

An all-male a cappella group at a prestigious university will no longer sing one well-known Disney song because some audience members — and one sophomore who wrote an article about it for the student newspaper — found it to be “uncomfortable.” . . .

One of the school’s all-male a cappella groups, the Princeton Tigertones, will no longer perform its popular rendition of “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid after the complaints. During their performance, the group invites a woman from the audience to join them as they sing and “playfully dance with her for a bit,” according to Inside Higher Ed. As the song reaches a close, the group invites a male audience member, pretend to groom him, and then put the two together, asking that they kiss, as the song suggests. The random couple complies, “sometimes on with a peck on the cheek, sometimes briefly on the lips,” Inside Higher Ed reported.

On November 26, sophomore Noa Wollstein wrote an opinion article for the Daily Princetonian asking the Tigertones to stop singing the song because it “is more misogynistic and dismissive of consent than cute.”

“Its lyrics raise some serious issues. The premise of the song, originally sung in the Disney film The Little Mermaid, is that the male Prince Eric, on a date with the beautiful female Ariel, should kiss her without asking for a single word to affirm her consent. Despite the fact that an evil sea-witch cursed Ariel’s voice away, making verbal consent impossible, the song is clearly problematic from the get-go,” Wollstein wrote.

She claims that if you take away the mermaids and the magic, the “message comes across as even more jarring.” She cites the lyrics “It’s possible she wants you too/There’s one way to ask her/It don’t take a word, not a single word/Go on and kiss the girl, kiss the girl” and ““she won’t say a word/Until you kiss that girl,” as problematic. These lyrics, she insists, “unambiguously encourage men to make physical advances on women without obtaining their clear consent.” (Read more from “Women Now Claim This Popular Disney Song Promotes Sexual Assault” HERE)

U.S. Lawmakers: McDonald’s Must End Distinction Between Boys’ and Girls’ Toys

The Left’s ideological war on gender differences continues: Lawmakers in Michigan are proposing legislation to end the distinction between “boy toys” and “girl toys” at fast food restaurants like McDonald’s.

More than a dozen lawmakers introduced a resolution into the state House Wednesday that “urges food establishments and franchises to stop gender classification of kid’s meal toys,” John Hogan reports for The Detroit Free Press. The resolution was introduced by state Rep. Leslie Love, D-Detroit, and has 14 co-sponsors.

“Often, the designated ‘boy toys’ are action figures or building toys; typically in primary colors, whereas ‘girl toys’ are often stuffed animals and are usually in a pastel color scheme,’’ the resolution states.

“This is a significant issue as billions of these meals are sold every year and this practice can influence and limit children’s imaginations and interests by promoting some toys as only suitable for girls and others only for boys.’’

It ought to go without saying that little boys are different from little girls, but here we are. The Left believes these “stereotypes” are harmful to children, and so McDonald’s needs to get with the program.

The Michigan state legislature is a full-time legislature, and this are the sort of initiative you get when lawmakers have too much time on their hands. (For more from the author of “U.S. Lawmakers: McDonald’s Must End Distinction Between Boys’ and Girls’ Toys” please click HERE)

Harvard Landlord Tells Domestic Violence Survivor to Move out Over Her Firearms

This story is just infuriating. It also should remind all conservative that it’s best to stick with your tribe. Leyla Pirnie is a graduate student at Harvard, where her terrible roommates searched her room while she was away because they felt she might have firearms. What gave her away? Well, she wore a Make America Great Again hat, and she’s from Alabama. It may surprise some liberals, but Democrats do livein Alabama. Also, they searched her room, invaded her privacy, and then ratted her out to their landlord over he legally owned firearms, which she obtained after surviving an abusive relationship. How dare she take steps to ensure her safety? . . .

“Since it’s clear that Leyla wants to keep her firearms, it would be best for all parties if she finds another place to live,” Dave Lewis, president of Avid Management, said in an email to the household obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The request that the student, Leyla Pirnie, move out came after her roommates searched her room while she was not home and found her firearms. That prompted one of the roommates to email Lewis requesting he verify that Pirnie was in compliance with applicable firearms laws.

“We discussed with Leyla that all of us are uncomfortable with having firearms in the house, and that their presence causes anxiety and deprives us of the quiet enjoyment of the premise to which we are entitled,” the roommate wrote to Lewis.

Radio Station Bans Classic Christmas Song Because It Allegedly Promotes Date Rape

. . .The classic seasonal song “Baby It’s Cold Outside” has now been banned by a Cleveland radio station after listeners complained it allegedly promotes date rape, according to CBS News.

“Star 102 Cleveland listeners raised concerns about the lyrics of the song ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside,’ with some saying the words send the wrong message in the era of the #MeToo movement,” reports the outlet.

On Tuesday, radio host Glenn Anderson wrote how the station came to the decision to ultimately kick the classic song off its Christmas music roster. “We used to play the song ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside,’ but you’re the Christmas Executive Officer at Star 102 and you told us it’s no longer appropriate,” he said. “I gotta be honest, I didn’t understand why the lyrics were so bad…Until I read them.” . . .

“Now, I do realize that when the song was written in 1944, it was a different time, but now while reading it, it seems very manipulative and wrong,” Anderson wrote. “The world we live in is extra sensitive now, and people get easily offended, but in a world where #MeToo has finally given women the voice they deserve, the song has no place. What do you think?”

As anybody who has ever heard “Baby Its Cold Outside” can attest, the song is a flirtatious duet between a man and a woman in a cozy cabin on a cold winter’s night. As the woman prepares to leave, the man attempts to charm her into staying, using the snowy weather as an excuse. Those who claim the song promotes date rape overlook the part where the woman sings “Baby, it’s cold outside” in unison with her male partner, signifying that the two were always in synch. CBS profiled how the song morphed from a flirtatious song in the 1940’s to some sort of date rape anthem in the #MeToo era. 74-Year-Old Kansas Woman Shoots and Kills Home Intruder, Suffers Heart Attack, Won’t Face Charges

A 74-year-old Kansas woman who shot and killed a man reportedly attempting to burglarize her home will not face charges, authorities said Thursday.

Ralph Byrd Jr., 41, was fatally shot after entering the home of the unnamed woman last Saturday. The woman reported the shooting to police, who arrived at the scene and found Byrd Jr. inside the home with a gunshot wound, the Leavenworth Times reports.

The elderly woman sustained a heart attack shortly after police began to investigate and was taken to a hospital. She is expected to survive.

Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson said that the woman will not be prosecuted. “For our understanding, she wouldn’t know whether he’s armed or unarmed and within the statute that allows her to be able to defend herself and defend her home,” Thompson said.

A similar incident happened in Kentucky Thursday when a man shot and killed a home invader and caused his two accomplices to flee after they threatened the man’s family with firearms.

That’s twice in one week the Second Amendment and stand your ground policies protected Americans from home invaders. And that’s just the ones we know about. Ironic: President of LGBT Dating App Says Marriage Is ‘Between Man and Woman’

The president of an LGBT dating app known as Grindr is facing fierce backlash after posting a lengthy Facebook post about how “marriage is a holy matrimony between a man and a woman.” Scott Chen wrote and then deleted a post saying he disagrees with Christian groups who oppose gay marriage but also said it’s his personal belief that marriage is between one man and one woman, The Guardian reported.

The post was originally written in Chinese but was later translated. Here’s what it said (You can get the gist of what he said despite Google Translator’s horrible sentence structure):

Someone thinks marriage is a holy combination of a male and a woman, and I also think it is, but this is your home.

. . .

Chen’s comments were made after voters in Taiwan rejected LBGT legislation. Those pushing the legislation wanted to make Taiwan the first Asian country to allow gay couples to share custody of children and insurance benefits.

Chen became President of the mobile app earlier this year when Grindr’s founder, Joel Simkhai, announced his departure. The app was then sold to the Kunlun Group, a Chinese technology firm. That’s when Chen moved from being Chief Technology Officer to President. (Read more from “Ironic: President of LGBT Dating App Says Marriage Is ‘Between Man and Woman'” HERE)

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Laws Are Not Fairness for All

Current proposals to create sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) laws with varying types of religious exemptions would not result in fairness for all…Instead, they would penalize many Americans who believe that we are created male and female and that male and female are created for each other. They would violate the privacy and safety of women and girls, the conscience rights of doctors and other medical professionals, and the free speech and religious liberty rights of countless professionals. Establishing bad public policy and then exempting select religious institutions is not acting for the common good—and is certainly not fair for all. . .

SOGI laws ban disagreement on LGBT issues by enforcing a sexual orthodoxy. Of course, those are not the exact words used, but when “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” are elevated to protected classes in antidiscrimination law, that is the effect the government policy has…But not every disagreement is discrimination, and our laws should not presume otherwise. . .

SOGI laws treat reasonable actions as if discriminatory…So, for example, if a baker creates custom wedding cakes for marriages, but will not design or create them for same-sex unions, that is considered “discrimination” on the basis of “sexual orientation.” If a Catholic adoption agency works to find permanent homes for orphans where they will be raised by a married mom and dad, but will not place children with two moms and no dad, or two dads and no mom, that is considered “discrimination” on the basis of “sexual orientation.”

If a small business provides health insurance that covers a double mastectomy in the case of breast cancer, but not for women who want to transition and identify as men, that is considered “discrimination” on the basis of “gender identity.” If a school provides separate bathrooms and locker rooms for male and female students, but will not let male students who identify as women into the female places, that is considered “discrimination” on the basis of “gender identity.” (Read more from “Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Laws Are Not Fairness for All” HERE)

Study Reveals That White Liberals ‘Patronize’ Minorities More Than Conservatives

White liberals present themselves as less competent when addressing minorities, while conservatives use the same vocabulary no matter what the race of their audience, according to a newly released study.

Yale and Princeton researchers found that white Democratic presidential candidates and self-identified liberals played down their competence when speaking to minorities, using fewer words that conveyed accomplishment and more words that expressed warmth.

On the other hand, there were no significant differences in how white conservatives, including Republican presidential candidates, spoke to white versus minority audiences.

“White liberals self-present less competence to minorities than to other Whites — that is, they patronize minorities stereotyped as lower status and less competent,” according to the study’s abstract.

Cydney Dupree, assistant professor of organizational behavior at the Yale School of Management, said she was surprised by the findings of the study, which sought to discover how “well-intentioned whites” interact with minorities.
