Sexual and Gender Minorities More Likely To Have Adverse Brain Outcomes

People who identified as a sexual or gender minority (LGBTQ+) had a higher likelihood of adverse brain health outcomes, cross-sectional data showed.

Among nearly 400,000 participants in the All of Us research program, sexual and gender minority persons had higher odds of a composite outcome of stroke, dementia, and late-life depression than others (OR 1.15, 95% CI 1.08-1.22), reported Guido Falcone, MD, of Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, and co-authors in Neurology.

As a group, sexual and gender minority persons had significantly higher odds of late-life depression (OR 1.27, 95% CI 1.17-1.38).

The group trended toward higher odds of dementia (OR 1.14, 95% CI 1.00-1.29), which was significantly elevated among gender-diverse participants (assigned female at birth OR 1.94 95% CI 1.06-3.56; assigned male at birth OR 2.57, 95% CI 1.25-5.30).

Jury Awards $300,000,000 to Former Children’s Hospital Patients Claiming Doctor Sexually Abused Them

A Virginia civil court awarded $300 million to three young women Friday after the women alleged a hospital’s former medical director abused them while they were patients, WTVR reported.

The case arose from a $930 million lawsuit which 46 former patients of Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents in New Kent County filed against the hospital and its longtime — now former — medical director, Dr. Daniel Davidow, WTVR reported.

The Richmond court ruled — after about seven hours of deliberation and on the 15th day of the trial — each of the three women would receive $60 million in compensatory damages and $40 million in punitive damages, according to the outlet.

The three former patients and their attorney, Kevin Biniazan, broke down in tears after the ruling, Biniazan told WTVR. The three plaintiffs’ case is reportedly the first civil trial.

Cumberland’s parent company, Universal Health Services (UHS), and the UHS of Delaware (UHS-D) were co-defendants in the case, the outlet reported.

Women’s NCAA Volleyball Team Forfeits Upcoming Match Amid Transgender Player Controversy

The Boise State women’s volleyball team forfeited its game against San Jose State University Saturday amid controversy surrounding a transgender member of the Spartans’ roster.

It’s the second team this month to opt out of playing against SJSU. . .

Blaire Fleming, a redshirt junior at San Jose State University, plays as an outside and right-side hitter on the women’s volleyball team.

Fleming, a transgender athlete, has played two seasons at SJSU after previously playing at Coastal Carolina.

Earlier this week, Fleming’s teammate, Brooke Slusser, joined former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines and several other female athletes in suing the NCAA over its policies regarding transgender athletes that they claim compromise the fairness and integrity of women’s competitive sports while also putting women at risk. Activists Defend Canceled Camp for Pedophiles Next to School

After local outcry canceled a camp for “minor-attracted persons” set for last weekend in Vermont, several organizations are publicly defending those who declare a sexual attraction to children.

MAP Union, or MU, which represents itself as “an international organization representing the interests of minor-attracted people and their allies,” sent a statement to local reporter Guy Page protesting the camp cancelation as “bullying” and violence against “society’s most oppressed minority group.”

“While it is appropriate for law enforcement to investigate crimes when they occur, no-one should face legal sanctions for speaking freely about a sexual orientation they did not choose, nor for meeting up with others who have the same orientation,” a self-described MAP Union spokesperson, who called himself “Percy,” said in an email to Page he published Monday.

Bean noted “Percy” is “likely a pseudonym based on the 19th century English author of Mathilda, a novel about incest between a father and daughter.”

The person calling himself “Percy” also told Bean, “We hope to provide a more balanced approach to MAP advocacy than groups like NAMBLA have been able to in the past.” NAMBLA is the North American Man-Boy Love Association, which effectively disintegrated after a series of FBI stings jailed members for abusing children and trafficking in illegal abuse images. Miracle Supplement Found to ‘Solidify’ New Memories Within 24 Hours in Historic Breakthrough

A miracle supplement might help “solidify” new memories within one day of taking it, Harvard Health reports, referring to a breakthrough study led by a team of researchers at Johns Hopkins University.

“We’ve always known that caffeine has cognitive-enhancing effects, but its particular effects on strengthening memories and making them resistant to forgetting has never been examined in detail in humans,” said Michael Yassa, Assistant Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences and senior author.

“We report for the first time a specific effect of caffeine on reducing forgetting over 24 hours.”

Professor Yassa and his team conducted a double-blind trial in which participants who did not regularly eat or drink caffeinated products received either a placebo or a 200-milligram caffeine tablet five minutes after studying a series of images.

Salivary samples were taken from the participants before they took the tablets to measure their caffeine levels. Samples were taken again one, three, and 24 hours afterwards. The next day, both groups were tested on their ability to recognise images from the previous day’s study session. On the test, some of the visuals were the same as those from the day before, some were new additions, and some were similar but not the same. ‘Good News for Donald Trump’: CNN Says Trump Is Performing ‘Significantly Better’ in Swing States

CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten said on Monday that Republican nominee Donald Trump is faring better in swing states in comparison to the 2020 election.

Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris by 5 points in Arizona and holding a 4-point and 3-point lead in Georgia and North Carolina, according to a New York Times/Siena College poll from Monday. Enten said these averages are “significantly better” than how he performed in polling from 2020, spelling good news for the former president.

“You’ve got a lot of red on this screen, this is pretty good news for Donald Trump … You take it all together in these three key battleground states, two of which [President] Joe Biden carried 4 years ago, we see that Donald Trump is ahead and by an average of 4 points, significantly better than he did back in 2020 across all of these states,” Enten said.

Enten further pointed to Harris’ 2-point lead in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, stating there is a “great divide” between the Sun Belt and Great Lake states. He credited Trump’s coalition being more racially “diverse” for the former president’s higher polling averages in Sun Belt states, with the former president’s support among non-white voters increasing from 16% in 2020 to 20% in 2024. Teen Who Gunned Down Mom Learns Fate After Disturbing Video Footage Emerges

Carly Gregg, the teenager who fatally shot her mother and attempted to kill her stepfather, was sentenced to life in prison Friday.

The jury in Rankin County, Mississippi, found Gregg, 15, guilty on all counts, and prosecutor Kathryn Newman said Gregg had shown “zero remorse.”

The teen was charged with murder and aggravated assault in the March 19 shooting that killed her mother, 40-year-old Ashley Smylie, and wounded her stepfather, Heath Smylie. She was also charged with tampering with evidence for hiding a security camera after the shooting.

On the first and second counts, Gregg was sentenced to life in prison. On the third count, she received 10 years.

Grandma Admits She Intentionally Shot 6-Month-Old Grandkid: ‘Sorry, Not Sorry’

An Ohio grandmother admitted this week that she intentionally shot her sleeping 6-month-old granddaughter in the face, saying she was “sorry, not sorry.”

Mia Desiree Harris, 43, unleashed a violent rage on her granddaughter, Myra, when she used a 9-milimeter pistol to fire multiple shots at the baby’s wooden bedroom door. She then broke the door down and shot the baby in the eye, according to court documents.

During the violent encounter on Dec. 9, 2023, Harris also punched a person in the face and assaulted another person by trying to shoot them in the head at close range — but missed — before shooting the baby, court records show.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said the family was arguing in their Liberty Township home when Harris grabbed the weapon, WXIX reported.

The unremorseful grandmother told deputies that Myra “was not my grandbaby” and said “sorry, not sorry” when asked why she unloaded her gun at the child’s face, Detective Daniel Turner testified in December, WCPO reported. Tax-Funded Group Sends Anti-White, Pro-Trans Board Books to Daycares

A tax-funded organization sent “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Belonging Kits” to 300 daycares in Wisconsin this year that push leftist activism and expose very young children to racial hatred and queer relationships. The kits included nearly two dozen identity politics books for toddlers, “multicultural” play dough in six skin tones, a “Chilean rain stick,” and 12 “Diverse Family Structures” posters from Kaplan Early Learning Company that depict homosexual couples with children.

“It’s okay to wonder: Am I a girl? Am I a boy? Am I both? Am I neither?” says one page of Being You: A First Conversation about Gender, a board book in the kit sent to daycares that parent children as young as four weeks old. “Today I feel like a boy!” exclaims one character in the book by Megan Madison, Jessica Ralli, and Anne/Andy [sic] Passchier, a “nonbinary” illustrator who describes herself as “very queer.”

The kit worth approximately $600 came from the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA), according to a daycare owner who received one, Elise Wiegert, co-owner of Little Rainbows daycare in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

At first, she was excited to receive the kit, Wiegert told The Federalist in a phone call during the naptime of the eight small children she and her husband tend. It came to her house in a heavy box approximately three feet square. She was thrilled to open and share it with the children, Wiegert said — until she previewed the books.
