Planned Parenthood Attacks Paul Ryan’s ‘Baby’ Talk

Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards on Friday criticized House Speaker Paul Ryan’s call for higher birth rates in the U.S.

Richards tweeted that “if more members of Congress could get pregnant, maybe they wouldn’t tell the rest of us when and why to get pregnant.”

Ryan said during his press conference Thursday that he did his part, “but we need to have higher birth rates in this country.” (Read more from “Planned Parenthood Attacks Paul Ryan’s ‘Baby’ Talk” HERE)

Female Candidate Drops out Amid Sex Scandal Claims

Andrea Ramsey, a Democratic candidate for Congress, will drop out of the race after the Kansas City Star asked her about accusations in a 2005 lawsuit that she sexually harassed and retaliated against a male subordinate who said he had rejected her advances.

Multiple sources with knowledge of the case told The Star that the man reached a settlement with LabOne, the company where Ramsey was executive vice president of human resources. Court documents show that the man, Gary Funkhouser, and LabOne agreed to dismiss the case permanently after mediation in 2006.

Ramsey, a 56-year-old retired business executive from Leawood, was one of the Democratic candidates vying to challenge Republican Rep. Kevin Yoder in 2018 in Kansas’ 3rd District.

She was running with the endorsement of Emily’s List, a liberal women’s group that has raised more than a half-million dollars to help female candidates who support abortion rights . . .

“In its rush to claim the high ground in our roiling national conversation about harassment, the Democratic Party has implemented a zero tolerance standard,” Ramsey said in a statement Friday. “For me, that means a vindictive, terminated employee’s false allegations are enough for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) to decide not to support our promising campaign. We are in a national moment where rough justice stands in place of careful analysis, nuance and due process.” (Read more from “Female Candidate Drops out Amid Sex Scandal Claims” HERE)

Georgia Mom Left Child in Car With Meth While Burglarizing House, Authorities Say

A woman in Northern Georgia has been arrested and charged with leaving her 4-year-old son in the car near meth and drug equipment while burglarizing a house, authorities said.

Theresa Jean Bice, 39, faces four felony counts, including for burglary, and for possession of drug-related objects, methamphetamine and tools for committing a crime, officials told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Authorities said officers found her son asleep near several bags of meth, a digital scale, and glass smoking paraphernalia, the newspaper reported.

The District Attorney’s Office will likely add child neglect charges when the case is fully reviewed, the Forsyth County News reported. (Read more from “Georgia Mom Left Child in Car With Meth While Burglarizing House, Authorities Say” HERE)

Widow of Kentucky State Rep. Dan Johnson Says She’ll Pursue His Seat

The wife of Kentucky State Rep. Dan Johnson, who killed himself on Wednesday amid a bombshell report’s accusations of sexual assault, announced Thursday that she would pursue her husband’s seat, saying “his fight will go on.”

Dan Johnson, a preacher and a Republican, committed suicide Wednesday on a bridge in Mt. Washington, according to Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell. The coroner confirmed that Johnson died of a single gunshot wound to the head, and the weapon was found near the 57-year-old’s body.

The statement from Johnson’s widow, Rebecca, said she was running for the position because “these high-tech lynchings based on lies and half-truths can’t be allowed to win the day.” . . .

His death occurred just days after the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting published a detailed set of allegations from a woman who claimed that Johnson sexually assaulted her when she was 17.

The lawmaker denied the accusations on Tuesday, calling them “totally false.” He said they were part of a nationwide strategy for defeating conservative Republicans, referencing claims also made against Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore. Judge Rejects Demand That Baker Make ‘Gay’ Wedding Cake

In a decision described as a “sharp blow” to “escalating persecution,” a judge has rejected a demand that a Christian baker in California provide a wedding cake for a same-sex duo.

The ruling comes in a case brought by the state against Tastries Bakery, which is developing just as the U.S. Supreme Court considers the case of Jack Phillips’ Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado.

Oral arguments in the Colorado case were held earlier this month, although a decision isn’t expected for a number of months.

The Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund confirmed Thursday that a judge in Kern County Superior Court rejected a demand for a temporary restraining order against Cathy Miller, a cake artist at Tastries.

The plan was to forbid her “from selling to anyone any item they are unwilling to sell” to the homosexual duo. (Read more from “Judge Rejects Demand That Baker Make ‘Gay’ Wedding Cake” HERE)

Arizona Democratic Party Still Retaining Money From Website Linked to Child Prostitution

The Arizona Democratic Party has yet to give away the $40,000 it received from the owner of Backpage.com, which is a website linked to child prostitution.

Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D., Ariz.) donated the cash she received from Backpage.com’s Michael G. Lacey earlier this year, and National Republican Senatorial Committee Communications Director Katie Martin said Sinema should speak up about the money her party still retains.

“Kyrsten Sinema should do the right thing and call on the Arizona Democratic Party to return the $40,000 they received from backpage.com,” Martin said. “It’s an easy choice between right and wrong, so why won’t Sinema speak up?”

In the midst of the controversy, which involved the website running hundreds of prostitution advertisements that included ones for child sex trafficking, Lacey made multiple contributions to Democrats. He donated to Democrats at the state and federal levels, and his total contributions reached six figures.

He donated to Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Garcia in 2014, the year after Backpage.com caused the National Association of Attorneys General to call on Congress to amend laws to hold websites of the sort accountable for enabling child prostitution. Daleiden, CMP Call for Recusal of Gag-Ordering Judge With Planned Parenthood Ties

David Daleiden and the Center Medical Progress (CMP) announced a new motion Wednesday, asking the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to compel the recusal of Judge William Orrick from the lawsuit between Daleiden/CMP and Planned Parenthood and accusing Orrick of bias in favor of the abortion advocacy organization.

According to charges levied in the petition, Orrick has “an ongoing and longstanding professional relationship with one of the named Plaintiffs,” namely Planned Parenthood.

Specifically, the petition claims, Orrick is a founder and longtime officer of the Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (GSFRC), a San Francisco-based organization that provides services to local families and houses a Planned Parenthood facility within its complex. The Planned Parenthood was incorporated into GSFRC’s services while Orrick served as the organization’s secretary and counsel.

This conflict of interest is further exacerbated because Orrick’s image was used in inflammatory Facebook postings attacking CMP and defending Planned Parenthood which Orrick’s own wife “liked,” an action that CMP contends makes the post partially attributable to the liker.

The posts, one in 2015 and one in 2016, attacked CMP as “a sham organization run by extremists,” alleging that the published undercover videos of the sale of fetal tissue were “heavily edited,” and suggested that the whole endeavor amounted to domestic terrorism. Bill Banning Down Syndrome Abortions Passes in Ohio, Heads to Kasich’s Desk

The GOP-led Ohio state Senate on Wednesday passed a ban on abortions based on a diagnosis of Down syndrome, and Republican Gov. John Kasich has sent signals that he will soon sign the measure into law.

Lawmakers voted 20-12 in favor of the ban, which would prohibit doctors from performing an abortion if doctors know that it is being sought, “in whole or in part,” to avoid a Down syndrome pregnancy.

Doctors who violate the ban would lose their medical license and face a fourth-degree felony charge, including up to a $5,000 fine and 18 months in prison. Mothers would not be punished by the law.

Three Republicans voted against the measure, which was opposed by all of the state Senate’s Democratic lawmakers.

The bill has also divided the disability community in Ohio, with some disability advocates testifying against the proposal because, they said, it prioritizes Down syndrome over other disabilities. (Read more from “Bill Banning Down Syndrome Abortions Passes in Ohio, Heads to Kasich’s Desk” HERE)

Drunken Off-Duty Firefighter Kills Pregnant 18-Year-Old, Unborn Baby in Crash

An 18-year-old pregnant woman was killed early Wednesday in a crash caused by an off-duty firefighter suspected of driving drunk, the Dallas Morning News reported, citing police.

Alyssa Pimentel, who was 8 months pregnant, was driving with her boyfriend, Isaiah Perez, 21, through a suburb of Dallas. As she merged onto traffic, another car rear-ended her, ejecting the two passengers from the vehicle.

Pimentel died at the scene and the baby was reportedly delivered at a hospital. The baby only survived for less than an hour, reports said. Her boyfriend was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries . . .

Horace Shaw III, 45, a Dallas firefighter who was reportedly driving fast and under the influence of alcohol, police allege, according to the report. Shaw was arrested and faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter. Investigators were told Shaw had been drinking at a bar prior to the crash, police said.

Shaw and his passenger, another male, were hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening, the report said. The other passenger has not been identified. (Read more from “Drunken Off-Duty Firefighter Kills Pregnant 18-Year-Old, Unborn Baby in Crash” HERE)

Church Holds ‘Inclusive’ Birthday Party for Muhammad, Jesus

The theological fur is flying after a Church of England congregation hosted a joint birthday celebration for Muhammad and Jesus, with the church being accused of rejecting the fundamentals of the Christian faith.

The “Milad, Advent and Christmas Celebration” took place Sunday, Dec. 3, at All Saints Church in Kingston upon Thames and was organized with the Kingston Inter-Faith Forum and the South London Inter-Faith Group.

Milad, or Milwad, is the celebration of Muhammad’s birth.

“Marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad and looking forward to the birthday of Jesus,” the flyer for the event read. “With provision for prayer at Asr and Maghrib and followed by the cutting of the birthday cake and Rizwan’s ‘High Tea.’”

That drew the attention and ire of Adrian Hilton, publisher of Archbishop Cranmer, one of the U.K.’s most popular political and highest-ranking religion blogs. Thomas Cranmer, an early Protestant reformer burned at the stake in 1556, was responsible for the Anglican Book of Common Prayer.
