Officials at Mitchell Primary School are apologizing after a book about a transgender child was read to most of the school’s K-3 students.

“We have a practice of if a topic is considered sensitive, parents should be informed,” superintendent Allyn Hutton told SeaCoastOnline.com.

“In this situation, that didn’t happen. The whole culture at Mitchell School is about teaching tolerance and respect. The people presenting the lesson thought (the book) was one more piece of teaching that lesson.

“In retrospect, we understand that toleration is tolerating people of all opinions,” Hutton said.

Criticism flooded the district after Fox News host Sean Hannity posted about the lesson on his website, prompted by a Mitchell school mother who was angry she wasn’t given advanced warning that teachers were reading students the book “I am Jazz” by Jessica Herthel and Jazz Jennings, the news site reports. New Cali Initiative Bans Transgender Bathroom Switching

A newly-created ballot initiative in California would require all people in government buildings to only use bathrooms assigned to their biological sex, and allow lawsuits against those who refuse to comply.

The new “Personal Privacy Protection Act” is the brainchild of the group Privacy For All, a California organization opposed to recent laws in the state that protect the right of transgender and transsexual individuals to use whatever bathrooms they want. For example, a 2013 law passed by the state legislature guarantees schoolchildren the right to use bathrooms and lockers rooms based on what gender they identify with, even if it doesn’t match their biological sex.

The new initiative, if approved by California voters, would require all people in the state to “use facilities in accordance with their biological sex in all government buildings.” Facilities, in this case, refers to bathrooms, locker rooms, dressing rooms, and showers. Like a recently-proposed law in Kentucky that failed to pass, the law would be enforced by exposing those who enter the “wrong” bathroom to lawsuits from those who feel their privacy was violated. Marco Rubio: People “Born With” Sexual Preference

downloadMarco Rubio said he believes that sexual preference is decided at birth, but still believes that states should be able to decide if they want to define marriage as anything other than involving a man and a woman.

“It’s not that I’m against gay marriage. I believe the definition of the institution of marriage should be between one man and one woman,” Rubio said in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “States have always regulated marriage. And if a state wants to have a different definition, you should petition the state legislature and have a political debate. I don’t think courts should be making that decision.”

“I don’t believe same-sex marriage is a Constitutional right,” Rubio added. “I also don’t believe that your sexual preferences are a choice for the vast and enormous majority of people. In fact…I believe that sexual preference is something that people are born with.”

Rubio sparked a debate on the issue last week after he said in an interview with Fusion’s Jorge Ramos that he would attend the same-sex wedding of a gay family member or staffer even if he would “disagree with a choice they’ve made.”

Rubio sat down for a wide-ranging interview with “Face the Nation” host Bob Schieffer at the Manchester Community College, where he was campaigning. In addition to same-sex marriage, Rubio weighed in on immigration, his potential rivals in the 2016 race, the foreign policy landscape, and climate change. Teen’s Defense of ‘Under God’ Just Won Big After Atheists ‘Threw in the Towel’ on Pledge of Allegiance Legal Battle

pledge2-620x424The conclusion of the case means that the legal firm successfully represented New Jersey high school student Samantha Jones in her quest to defend the Pledge after atheists sued in state court in an effort to strip “God” from the traditional wording.

“I’m so grateful to know that I will be able to continue reciting the pledge in peace,” Jones said in a statement. “Ever since I was little, I’ve recited the Pledge of Allegiance because it sums up the values that make our country great.”

The American Humanist Association’s decision not to appeal the ruling comes two months after a New Jersey judge threw out the group’s lawsuit that argued that “under God” is a violation of the state’s constitution.

State Superior Court Judge David Bauman had already expressed doubts about the atheist-led lawsuit during oral arguments back in November, noting that he saw no evidence of bullying or mistreatment of atheists as a result of “under God,” according to Fox News.

The court battle started in February 2014 when an unnamed family in New Jersey filed a lawsuit against Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District in Aberdeen, New Jersey, arguing through representation by the American Humanist Association that mentioning God in the Pledge of Allegiance constituted discrimination against nonbelievers, violating the equal protection clause of New Jersey’s constitution. Parents Outraged as Anti-Bullying Conference Turns Into ‘Pornographic’ Pro-Gay Event [+video]

gay_flagAbout 1,000 students thought they were attending an anti-bullying conference for gay and sexually questioning teens but were shocked by what some called “pornographic” content.

The April 3 conference was sponsored by a nonprofit group, Iowa Safe Schools, focused on helping create “safe and supportive schools” for gay youths.

However, Fox News’ Todd Starnes spoke to some students who attend the conference and their parents who said the conference was inappropriate for teenagers.

“We were absolutely flabbergasted,” a father of one of the students told Starnes. “It was graphic and pornographic. From a parent’s perspective I cannot think of anywhere this should be an acceptable conversation.”

His daughter is part of a group at her school that helps students who’ve been bullied.

Reporter Says Hillary Sped Right Past Elderly Women in Wheelchairs Who Wanted to Meet Her

By Michael Dorstewitz. Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton claimed that she intended to “meet the people” during her Iowa visit.

But her actions spoke louder than words when her “Scooby Van” raced right past a group of seniors, many in wheelchairs, anxious to meet her.

Financial Times Washington bureau chief Megan Murphy was in Iowa covering Clinton’s visit, and seemed appalled during her appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday.

The panel was discussing the rush of reporters scrambling after Clinton’s van in an attempt to ask a question of the candidate.

“I think what you don’t see in that clip, which is one of the most surprising things, is there were actually a ton of people waiting for her at the front of that college,” Murphy said. “There were elderly people in wheelchairs, there were people — and they just cruised right on by to the back.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Iowa High School Principal Prohibits Students From Creating a Pro-Life Club

Principal Steve Madson of Hampton-Dumont High School has received a demand letter from Students for Life of America’s law firm, the Thomas More Society, on behalf of student Isabell Akers and Students for Life of America. The letter charges that Principal Madson has unconstitutionally discriminated against Isabell by denying her the right to form a Students for Life club at Hampton-Dumont High School.

“The pro-life students are simply asking for equal treatment,” said Jocelyn Floyd, Associate Counsel of Thomas More Society. “Here the school is trying to claim that its lesser treatment is justified because Isabell’s club doesn’t tie in with the school’s curriculum—but neither do most of the school’s other clubs, such as the book club, mock trial, or SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving). By law, Hampton-Dumont High School administrators must give their pro-life students the same opportunities as they give all these other school clubs.”

Isabell Akers, a senior at Hampton-Dumont High School, attempted to start a Students for Life club when she was a sophomore, but she met resistance from school administrators. After a series of delays and denials, the school eventually allowed Isabell’s club to meet periodically in the spring and fall of 2014, but not to advertise or host events. As Isabell will soon graduate, she tried once again in February to acquire school club status for her Students for Life club, to leave an established club in place for future high school leaders. Nah, your eyes are playing tricks on you.

That’s what administrators at Virginia’s Portsmouth Public Schools want parents to believe after a mother took a photo of her child’s paltry school lunch and posted it on social media.

After the photo began circulating around the community, Food Service Coordinator Jim Gehlhoff admitted the lunch “concerns us,” but added that it might not actually be as bad as it looks . . .

WISN talk radio host Vicki McKenna posted Union Grove High School teacher Beth Urban’s email for a five-paragraph essay on Twitter.

It reads:

–Pretend you are:

1. Muslim male/female in U.S.

2. Give 3 examples of what you do daily for your religion and any struggles you face.

3. Again, 5 paragraphs (intro, 3 body paragraphs, closing.)

**Keep in mind we’ve been doing work and watching documentaries that have the facts needed to write the essay.

Heartbreaking Photo: Young Girl Covers Her Eyes as Nude Men Walk Past During Gay Pride Parade

Earlier this week, our managing editor Steve Jalsevac published a slideshow with his photos from the 2011 Toronto Gay Pride Parade. Many of the photos were shocking. But one commenter pointed out a detail in one photo that many people probably missed.

The photo says it all: Naked men marching in Toronto’s Pride parade, showcasing what supporters cheer on as the advancement of “gay rights” and “sexual liberation.” The naked men march past men, women, and yes even children. Everyone is encouraged to celebrate “diversity.”
