Remember; Owning A Gun In N.J. Is Worse Than Beating Your Wife

Earlier today, Katie wrote about Shaneen Allen, a firearm owner from Pennsylvania who ventured into New Jersey, got caught, and now faces up to ten years in prison. She’s a single mother with two sons. Allen bought a handgun after she was robbed twice; she also has a concealed carry permit. Before this incident, she was a law-abiding citizen. Yet, one must wonder why New Jersey courts think owning a gun is worse than beating your wife (via Glenn Reynolds/ USA Today):

When Ray Rice beat his wife unconscious in an elevator, New Jersey Superior Court Judge Michael Donio and New Jersey District Attorney Jim McClain agreed to put him in a diversion program for 1st-time offenders to keep him out of jail. But when Pennsylvania single momShaneen Allen was pulled over for a traffic violation and volunteered to a New Jersey police officer that she was carrying a legally-owned handgun with a Pennsylvania permit, the response of Donis and McClain was todeny her the same opportunity as Rice.

Both Donio and McClain have been unwilling to dismiss the charges, or send Allen to a pretrial diversion program. They seem to want to make an example of her.

Report: Abortion Clinics Shield Men Who Rape Young Girls

When a patient with a gunshot wound shows up, hospital workers in nearly every city and town in the country are required to report the injury to police because it might be evidence of a crime.

The same is true when an underage girl shows up at an abortion clinic, because her pregnancy could be evidence of sexual abuse.

But according to a report, workers at abortion clinics rarely contact authorities to alert them to underage pregnancies, in violation of state mandatory reporting laws.

In fact, the report alleges the abortion industry covers for child sexual predators.

“The abortion lobby is engaged in a pedophile protection racket and protecting pedophiles who rape underage girls,” Mark Crutcher, president of Life Dynamic News, said in a statement. “This is an outrage and what is going on here is absolute and utter scandal.”

Planned Parenthood Suggests Minor Should "Horse Whip" Herself (+video)

“I would say anything within the sexual world is normal as long as it’s consensual.” This is the advice of a Planned Parenthood employee. In the fourth shocking video from the pro-life group Live Action’s under cover investigation, “SexEd: Planned Parenthood’s Dangerous Sex Advice for Kids,” another clinic is exposed promoting bondage and submission, sadism and masochism. Here’s just a taste of the advice an employee at the Minneapolis-St. Paul facility gave to an under cover minor regarding her sexual adventures with her boyfriend:

“If he wants to try something that is physical, that is going to cause you harm or pain, and you’re OK with that, that’s a completely different thing that if he wants to try something to do that you’re not OK with.”

The employee admits this kind of bedroom behavior is “extreme” and “focused around pain,” yet continues to offer the minor dangerous advice. “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which by now appears to be Planned Parenthood’s favorite book, is referenced by the employee for some examples:

“Items that are used in “Fifty Shades” would be things like whips and nipple clamps.”

Oscar-winning actor and comedian Robin Williams has died at age 63.

According to police in Marin County, Calif., Williams was found “unconscious and not breathing” just before noon Monday inside his home in Tiburon, Calif., following a 911 phone call. He was pronounced dead at 12:02 p.m. after emergency personnel arrived. They added that the actor was last seen alive at 10 p.m. Sunday.

An investigation into the cause of the death is underway, but “the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia.” A forensic examination is scheduled for Tuesday, along with a press conference that will be held at 11 a.m. in San Rafael, Calif.

Williams’ publicist Mara Buxbaum told The Hollywood Reporter that Williams “has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

District Drops Federal Lunch Program

Lunch at Fort Thomas Independent Schools may include more French fries, fewer vegetables and larger portions this year. One thing that won’t be on the menu: federal dollars.

The Campbell County district is opting out of the federal school lunch program, forfeiting hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal funding.

The reason: Kids didn’t like their healthful lunches.

“The calorie limitations and types of foods that have to be provided … have resulted in the kids just saying ‘I’m not going to eat that,'” Fort Thomas Superintendent Gene Kirchner said.

The 2,800-student district joins a small but growing number of school districts across the country – mostly wealthy districts who can afford to forfeit the money – who have dropped out of the federal program in the wake of stricter nutritional standards.

Planned Parenthood Won’t Comment on Doing Abortion on Raped 13-Year-Old, Returning Her to Rapist

Planned Parenthood enabled a sexual abuser to prey on a 13-year-old girl over and over. It appears to have broken state law in ignoring the repeated rapes and abuse and, now, it won’t comment on the record.

A Planned Parenthood affiliate in Denver, Colorado is facing a lawsuit after Cary Smith, of Federal Heights, discovered that clinic staff failed to inquire or report about suspected sexual abuse of her thirteen-year-old daughter after giving her an abortion.

As LifeNews reported last month, this case was a mother’s nightmare where a abuser took a teenage girl to a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic for an abortion after repeated sexual assault resulted in a pregnancy. Planned Parenthood had no trouble pocketing a few hundred dollars for an abortion but couldn’t seem to bring itself to do anything about the abuse.

The sexual abuse of this teenage girl continued after Planned Parenthood looked the other way.

Now, National Review has profiled the case. Readers won’t be surprised that NR reports: “Neither Planned Parenthood nor Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains responded to National Review Online’s request for comments on this case.”

Texan Pro-Abortion Activists: "You Haven't Seen the Last of Us Yet"

Yes, it’s true. Those awful orange shirts are back. Today, Texan pro-abortion activists are heading to the capitol for the second federal challenge to House Bill 2, the pro-life legislation enacted last year. The bill, which bans abortion after 20 weeks and requires abortion providers to have admitting privileges, has helped shutter several abortion clinics in the state and saved thousands of unborn lives.

Our readers may recall the Lone Star State battle from last summer: The pro-abortion, orange T-shirt wearing activists in one corner, the pro-life, blue shirt wearing advocates in the other. The former refused to play nice, verbally threatening pro-lifers and even shouting “Hail Satan” during one rally…

Comedian Jimmy Fallon: Abortion Can Be “Lighthearted” and “Funny”

jimmyfallonBy Katie Yoder.

Comedians can find the humor in anything, right? Or so Jimmy Fallon seems to think.

Comedian Jimmy Fallon invited the “very talented actress” Jenny Slate (“SNL,” “Parks and Recreation”) on “The Tonight Show” August 1. During her appearance, Fallon applauded Slate’s recent role in the media-dubbed “abortion romantic comedy,” “Obvious Child.”

Fallon explained, “It’s getting great reviews because it’s a serious issue, but you make it lighthearted, you make it funny.” “Good for you,” he added. Continued after video.

Couple Takes Heartbreaking Photos With Their Stillborn Daughter to Remember Her

By Steven Ertelt.

A California couple decided to remember their stillborn daughter by hiring a professional photographer to take special pictures of them with her so they would have a touching memorial to remember her by. Richard and Emily Staley wanted a way to mark their daughter Monroe’s place in their family even though she was dead at birth.

So they hired Lindsey Natzic-Villatoro, who typically takes happy photographs of weddings or family pictures.

Here is what the couple had to say, along with a couple of the pictures Lindsey took:

‘I wanted our family to have some way to show how beautiful our daughter was,’ Emily Staley, 26, told Yahoo Health.

‘I was proud of her, and I wanted to show her off and make sure her memory lives on.’

Salon Editor: Guess What? I'm Having An Abortion Today

We all know Salon is a joke; a site dedicated to satisfying the liberal base with stories about racism, the Tea Party, and how to use male sex toys. But their assistant Jenny Kutner had a very special announcement: she’s having an abortion today at 10am EST (emphasis mine):

I’m pregnant. I just found out. I’m having an abortion on Saturday at 10 a.m.

And, it seems, no amount of background information — no critical mass of other women’s stories or screenings of “Obvious Child” — will give me much insight into how I, Jenny Kutner, will feel about my abortion when it happens. Still, I have been looking for background information, and I briefly tried to defy my stubbornly non-psychic brain by reading what other women have written about their abortion experiences.

There is, of course, a sort of collective narrative that has formed, especially amongst pro-choice women like myself. Here’s what I noticed about that larger collective narrative: It contains very few stories about what women experience just before their abortions. Mostly we only hear about a procedure in its aftermath. Right now, I do need to hear about the aftermath. I need to be reminded that on Saturday I will wake up pregnant and on Sunday I will not; I need to be reminded that my life will go on once I carry out this decision that is totally and completely right for me, not everyone, and that is totally and completely right for so many other women who have made or will make the same choice. But right now I’m not in the aftermath. I’m in a part of the abortion experience that feels just as crucial as the abortion itself.
