State Defends Coronavirus Program Giving Federal Funds To Black People Only

The State of Oregon continues to defend a state program that distributes federal coronavirus relief funds to black people — and only black people — after two separate lawsuits have challenged the program as a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

The Oregon state legislature’s Emergency Board created the Oregon Cares Fund this summer — with nightly Black Lives Matter riots raging in Portland — to allocate $62 million in funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to black residents (out of $200 million in total funds). The Oregon Cares Fund website states:

The Oregon Cares Fund is a targeted investment in the Black community from the CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund. This fund is meant to provide the Black community with the resources it needs to weather the global health pandemic and consequent recession. The Oregon Cares Fund is for Black people, Black-owned businesses, and Black community based organizations.

. . .Two federal lawsuits have been filed: one by a logging company, Great Northern Resources; and the other by a Mexican-American coffee shop owner, Maria Garcia. (For her trouble, she has been labeled by Latino “leaders” as “anti-Black.”)

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) and Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum said last month: “The data show that Black Oregonians are experiencing disproportionate harm from COVID-19. … We must not allow pernicious and ideologically-motivated lawsuits to impede our efforts to deliver critical resources to Oregonians amid a devastating pandemic.” (Read more from “State Defends Coronavirus Program Giving Federal Funds To Black People Only” HERE)

Joe Biden: Coronavirus Vaccine Will Not Be Mandatory

. . .Joe Biden said that he would not make the coronavirus vaccine mandatory for all Americans to get after he is inaugurated in January.

Joe Biden said at a Friday press conference in Delaware that he would not impose a vaccine mandate nor a mask mandate when he is sworn in as the next president, according to The New York Post. The president-elect added that he would still encourage all Americans to both get vaccinated and continue to wear masks because it’s the “right thing” to do.

“No, I don’t think it should be mandatory,” Biden said, the Post reported. “I wouldn’t demand it be mandatory.”

“But I would do everything in my power — just like I don’t think masks have to be made mandatory nationwide — I will do everything in my power as president of the United States to encourage people to do the right thing. And when they do it, demonstrate that it matters,” he continued. (Read more from “Joe Biden: Coronavirus Vaccine Will Not Be Mandatory” HERE)

Congressman Introduces Bill Requiring Americans To Be Alive To Vote

A Republican congressman made a stand against dead people voting in elections and introduced a bill that requires Americans to be alive in order to cast ballots. Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas) proposed the You Must Be Alive to Vote Act last week.

“The right to vote is one of the most vital pillars of our democracy, the foundations of which are election integrity and confidence in our democratic processes,” Babin said. “The ease with which someone is able to steal the ballot of a deceased person and cast an illegitimate vote should disturb, alarm, and outrage every American citizen, no matter what side of the aisle they sit on. To protect our democratic process and Americans’ faith in our elections, we must ensure that deceased individuals are not allowed to remain on state voter rolls.”

“My bill will prevent any funds from the U.S. Departments of Transportation or Education, with the exception of those going toward law enforcement agency grants, from going to counties of any state that do not annually check their voter lists against the Social Security Administration’s most recent death records in order to purge them of any individuals found to be deceased,” Babin declared. “All elected officials, from your local city council member to your U.S. President, have an obligation to obey the law and prevent fraud in our elections, and Congress should not be awarding taxpayer dollars to any counties or states that refuse to do the job they swore to do.”

“You would think it would be unnecessary to have a bill like this, I mean it goes without saying you should be alive before you get to vote,” Bain said in an OAN interview. “We’ve uncovered some fraudulent plans to register a bunch of dead people to vote down in South Florida, and it’s the easiest thing in the world for these local counties to purge their voter list of deceased individuals. All they have to do is to go to the Social Security system and cross check against their deceased Social Security recipients on their list and then purge them off of the voter list.” (Read more from “Congressman Introduces Bill Requiring Americans To Be Alive To Vote” HERE)

John Brennan Lies Again About ‘No Spying on Trump’s Campaign’ (VIDEO)

Obama administration CIA Director John Brennan insisted in an interview Sunday with Fox News’s Chris Wallace that Obama’s intelligence agencies conducted “no spying on Donald Trump’s campaign,” a claim contradicted by inspector general reports, a two-year special counsel probe, congressional inquiries, and continued investigation.

In 2019, an inspector general report found that Brennan lied under oath to Congress about details of the Obama administration’s spying on its political opponent Trump. A ruling from a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court in June demonstrated that the Obama administration in which Brennan served lied about its legal basis for spying on former Trump campaign official Carter Page, including apparently fabricated evidence. Fabricated claims form much of the Steele dossier, according to the FBI. Federal agency reports previously found that Brennan repeatedly lied, including while under oath to Congress, about the CIA spying on the Senate, drone strikes, and more.

During the Sunday interview, Brennan also repeated lies he previously made to Congress that the Christopher Steele “dossier” did not affect the FBI and CIA’s review of disproven “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia. A report from Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz confirmed the former CIA director lied to Congress about this previously.

“The Steele dossier was not used in any way to undergird the judgments that came out of the intelligence community assessment about the Russian actions in the 2016 election,” Brennan claimed to Wallace. “There was so much other evidence and intelligence to support those judgments,” he added. “I am very comfortable with how the intelligence community came out on the 2016 election.”

Soros Foundation President Resigns, Likely To Join Biden Administration

George Soros’s Open Society Foundations President Patrick Gaspard is resigning from his position to reportedly pave the way for a potential job in the Biden administration.

“Fundamental social change doesn’t customarily occur in a revolutionary moment. Instead, what is needed is the partnership of activists, government, and the nonprofit sector, collaborating over time and space in unity and solidarity,” Gaspard said in a statement. “This is what I worked to do at Open Society. My commitment now will be to re-enter the world of politics and ideas, where I can continue the struggle against oppression everywhere.”

Gaspard previously served in the Obama administration between 2013 and 2016 as the U.S. ambassador to South Africa. He has also served as the director of the White House Office of Political Affairs.

He then worked on the Soros founded board for three years before the announcement that he is stepping down at the end of the year. (Read more from “Soros Foundation President Resigns, Likely To Join Biden Administration” HERE)

New COVID-19 Relief Bill Won’t Include Stimulus Checks

With time running out, lawmakers are closing in on a proposed COVID-19 relief bill that would provide roughly $300 in extra federal weekly unemployment benefits but not another round of $1,200 in direct payments to most Americans. . .

(AP) With time running out, lawmakers on Sunday closed in on a proposed COVID-19 relief bill that would provide roughly $300 in extra federal weekly unemployment benefits but not another round of $1,200 in direct payments to most Americans, leaving that issue for President-elect Joe Biden to wrestle over with a new Congress next year.

The $908 billion aid package to be released Monday would be attached to a larger year-end spending bill needed to avert a government shutdown this coming weekend.

The cash payments were popular when they were first distributed after the pandemic hit, and Biden on Friday had expressed hope that a second wave might come after weekend negotiations. (Read more from “New COVID-19 Relief Bill Won’t Include Stimulus Checks” HERE)

New York Cuts Police Funding, Lets Thousands of Calls Go Unanswered

Thousands of complaints from New York City residents about the homeless population have gone unanswered since local officials slashed the police department budget by $1 billion, according to the New York Post.

Nearly 2,500 complaints and calls to assist the homeless have been neglected by New York City Police Department (NYPD) authorities after Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio spearheaded the massive budget cut in June, which cut $4.5 million from the law enforcement body’s Homeless Outreach Unit, the Post reported.

Prior to the department’s defunding, 79 complaints went unanswered in June, according to the Post. In July that number skyrocketed to 437, and numbers reached an all-time high in August when 681 calls were not followed through with, the New York outlet reported.

“It was getting better but now it’s getting worse,” a 90-year-old resident told the Post about the homeless problem in her neighborhood. “The police do not come around anymore.” (Read more from “New York Cuts Police Funding, Lets Thousands of Calls Go Unanswered” HERE)

Rudy Giuliani Tests Positive For COVID-19

Rudy Giuliani, who has led President Trump’s legal challenges to try to overturn the election, has tested positive for the coronavirus, the president said Sunday. . .

Giuliani is the latest member of Trump’s inner circle to contract the virus. Trump himself was infected and spent several days in the hospital in early October, and his chief of staff, multiple senior advisers, his press secretary, his campaign manager and his oldest son have all tested positive since.

The former New York City mayor is 76, putting him at a higher risk for serious complications from the virus.

Giuliani’s diagnosis comes roughly two weeks after his son, Andrew, who works in the White House, tested positive for the coronavirus. He held a lengthy, indoor, maskless press conference in late November with, among others, Trump campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn, who tested positive for COVID-19 shortly thereafter. President Trump Orders Pentagon To Move Majority of U.S. Troops Out of Somalia

President Donald Trump has ordered a majority of the U.S. military members serving in Somalia to be relocated out of the country, the Pentagon announced Friday.

According to The New York Times, there are roughly 700 American troops currently in Somalia, and the movements are set to occur by Jan. 15.

The Department of Defense explained in a statement that the order does not constitute “a change in U.S. policy,” noting that while “some forces may be reassigned outside of East Africa,” those personnel who remain in the region “will be repositioned from Somalia into neighboring countries in order to allow cross-border operations by both U.S. and partner forces to maintain pressure against violent extremist organizations operating” in the country.

The most notorious terrorist group operating out of Somalia is the Al-Qaida-linked organization Al-Shabaab. (Read more from “President Trump Orders Pentagon To Move Majority of U.S. Troops Out of Somalia” HERE)

The House Approves Federal Decriminalization of Marijuana

By a vote of 228-164, the House of Representatives has passed a measure to decriminalize marijuana and move forward on erasing nonviolent federal marijuana convictions. Democrats consider it a step to decreasing the racial disparities in the justice system. The bill, which was introduced by Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), now heads to the Senate.
