Out of the Gates, Calls for Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s Impeachment Emerge

Less than 24 hours after she was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Amy Coney Barrett is already being asked to recuse herself from a case and liberals are calling for her impeachment.

Barrett will begin hearing oral arguments next week after being sworn in at a private ceremony at the Supreme Court Tuesday. But her confirmation late Monday – with not a single Democrat vote – set off apoplectic reactions from the left and calls for packing the high court in revenge. Critics of President Donald Trump have already begun the impeachment narrative against his Supreme Court pick should she not recuse herself from a Pennsylvania election case.

The Luzerne County Board of Elections filed a recusal motion Tuesday over a Pennsylvania case involving an extension for mail-in ballots.

“The nomination and confirmation of a Supreme Court justice this close to a presidential election is unprecedented,” they wrote. “As concerning as that is, what is even more troubling is the language President Trump has used in consideration of this nomination, linking it directly to the electoral season at hand, with implications for his own re-election.”

Pennsylvania Republicans have asked the Supreme Court to weigh in on election laws in the swing state, which currently allow mail-in ballots to still be counted in the final tallies up to three days after Election Day. On Friday, Republicans requested the high court rule on a Pennsylvania Supreme Court deadlocked case that mail-in ballots be accepted as long as they arrive by Nov. 6 and were not postmarked after Election Day.

Trump Leading Nationally in First Poll to Show Him Ahead in Over a Month

A new poll finds President Donald Trump with a slim lead over Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden for the first time in more than a month.

The Rasmussen Reports poll released Monday found that Trump was favored by 48 percent of likely voters, compared to 47 percent for Biden. Another 3 percent said they would vote for a third party candidate, while 2 percent were undecided. A Rasmussen poll released on September 16, also giving Trump a 1 point advantage, was the last publicly released national survey to show the president in the lead.

The candidates were statistically tied in the poll since the result falls well within a 2.5 margin of error. The poll was conducted online and over the phone among 1,500 likely voters on October 21, October 22 and October 25. The firm had been releasing weekly polls of the presidential race, but Monday’s survey was the first of several daily polls planned to be released until Election Day on November 3.

Rasmussen has a history of giving the president favorable poll results when compared to other firms. A job approval poll released Monday showed 52 percent approving of Trump’s performance, compared to 46 percent disapproving. The result is at odds with almost every other recent survey, with polling analysis site FiveThirtyEight’s average of approval polls to giving Trump a 42.7 percent approval rating and a 53.5 percent disapproval rating as of Monday night. Fox News’ ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ Breaks Cable News Ratings Records

Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” has broken the record for the highest-rated monthly viewership in the history of cable news, drawing in an average nightly audience of nearly 5.4 million, according to Nielsen Media Research ratings for October.

The Washington Examiner reported that the program, which airs at 8 p.m. EST, “averaged 5,359,000 viewers nightly, including 1,003,000 in the key 25-54 age demographic that marketers covet,” according to the Nielsen ratings, noting that “while the total ratings made cable news history, [Carlson] also became the first prime-time host to reach 1 million viewers in the 25-54 demo since September 2008.”

Fox News also broke a ratings record. According to TheWrap, “the network delivered the highest primetime averages in cable news history, too.”

But Carlson was not the only Fox News host to put eye-popping numbers on the board for this month.

Fox News pointed out that fellow primetime hosts Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham also saw staggering viewership, reporting that “‘Hannity’ finished with its highest-rated month across both categories since the program launched in 2009,” and “‘The Ingraham Angle’ also made cable news history, finishing as the most-watched female host in history.” (Read more from “Fox News’ ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ Breaks Cable News Ratings Records” HERE)

U.S. Approves Second Massive Sale of Defensive Weapons to Taiwan

The State Department has approved another multibillion-dollar sale of defensive weapons to Taiwan, bringing the total to more than $4 billion this month.

The latest approval is for 100 Harpoon mobile missile launchers and 400 Harpoon missiles, which will significantly bolster Taiwan’s ability to target Chinese ships in the Taiwan Strait, the 100-mile-wide strip of water separating the island from the mainland.

“Harpoon Block II is an over-the-horizon, anti-ship missile manufactured by Boeing Defense, Space & Security. It is the world’s superior anti-ship missile capable of performing land-strike and anti-ship missions,” according to NavalTechnology.com.

“These mobile land-based coastal defense batteries … add to Taiwan’s existing anti-ship defenses and provide significant additional deterrent capabilities,” said the US-Taiwan Business Council. “The substantial expansion of Taiwan’s Coastal Defense Cruise Missile stocks, which also include the domestically designed and built Hsiung Feng II/III, is a welcome development,” said the group’s president in a statement.

The potential sale is valued at $2.37 billion and comes a week after the approval of a $1.8 billion package of missiles, artillery rockets, and reconnaissance systems. (Read more from “U.S. Approves Second Massive Sale of Defensive Weapons to Taiwan” HERE)

Experts Fear U.S. Is on the Brink of Civil War: ‘Millions of People Are Actively Prepared to Murder Their Countrymen’

Experts are warning that political violence could erupt around the election, but some believe the early stages of a civil conflict have already unfolded.

A new conflict would look nothing like the first Civil War, more than 150 years ago, and instead would likely resemble an insurgency like those seen in Colombia, Ireland and Syria — and possibly already in the U.S., reported Vice.

“A conflict in the pre-insurgency stage is difficult to detect because most activities are underground and the insurgency has yet to make its presence felt through the use of violence,” the CIA Guide to the Analysis of Insurgency notes. “Moreover, actions conducted in the open can easily be dismissed as nonviolent political activity. During this stage, an insurgent movement is beginning to organize: leadership is emerging, and the insurgents are establishing a grievance and a group identity, beginning to recruit and train members, and stockpiling arms and supplies.”

Another leading indicator of civil conflict is fear, according to David Kilcullen, of the nonprofit Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

“The worst atrocities come from fear, not hate, because people think they’re good,” Kicullen told Vice. “And they can justify incredible atrocious violence to themselves on the basis that it is defensive … you need a belief that some other group is encroaching on your territory, and then you need to have lost confidence in the ability of the state to act as an impartial and neutral protector. We’re already losing that confidence because of COVID.” (Read more from “Experts Fear U.S. Is on the Brink of Civil War: ‘Millions of People Are Actively Prepared to Murder Their Countrymen’” HERE)

Trump Denounces White Supremacy ’38 Times’ in New Campaign Video (VIDEO)

The Trump campaign on Tuesday released a video compiling more than three dozen times President Trump has denounced White supremacy, as his Democratic rival Joe Biden and his running mate Sen. Kamala Harris of California continue to claim this week on the campaign trail that he has failed to do so.

The Trump campaign rolled out a nearly 5-minute-long video of the president, featuring video clips from as recently as this month, to his 2016 presidential campaign, and dating all the way back to an interview Trump gave to Matt Lauer in the early 2000s, where he denounced White supremacy and “disavowed” White supremacist groups.

The video comes after Biden and Harris have criticized Trump, casting him as a racist and claiming he has not denounced White supremacy, and also comes as part of the Trump campaign’s final pitch to win over Black voters ahead of Election Day.

“President Trump wants to prosecute the KKK as a terrorist organization and has condemned White supremacy at least 38 times. 38 times!” a senior Trump campaign official told Fox News.

“The Biden campaign continues to sow division and inflame racial tension by spreading this false narrative,” the Trump campaign official added. “Enough is enough.” (Read more from “Trump Denounces White Supremacy ’38 Times’ in New Campaign Video (VIDEO)” HERE)

Joe Biden Introduces Himself as Kamala Harris’s Running Mate, Refers To Running Mate’s Husband ‘Kamala’s Wife’

By The Federalist. 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden referred to his running mate California Sen. Kamala Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, as “Kamala’s wife.”

“My wife, Jill, as you know and Doug Emhoff, Kamala’s wife were there,” Biden said speaking of Texas on Monday.

The latest gaffe comes just a day after Biden appeared to confuse President Donald Trump with President George W. Bush. (Read more from “Joe Biden Calls Running Mate’s Husband ‘Kamala’s Wife’” HERE)

Joe Biden Introduces Himself as Kamala Harris’s Running Mate

By Breitbart. Joe Biden, the Democrat nominee, referred to himself as Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D-CA) “running mate” on Tuesday during a campaign swing through Georgia.

The former vice president, who has aroused concerns over his fitness for the White House in recent weeks, made the remark to a group of supporters at a drive-in rally in Atlanta when introducing himself to the crowd.

“My name is Joe Biden, I’m Jill Biden’s husband, and I’m Kamala’s running mate,” the former vice president said to cheers from the crowd. “Y’all, think I’m kidding, don’t you?”

Biden, who, if elected, will be the oldest president ever inaugurated, often introduces himself in such a manner to voters. His decision to do so on Tuesday with Harris, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, however, underscores the arguments that many on the right have made in recent months, principally that Biden is deliberately pitching the California lawmaker as the dominant player on their ticket.

The former vice president has indulged such speculation since tapping Harris as his running mate. In August, Biden told supporters the major reason Harris was picked for the ticket is that she is “ready to lead on day one.” (Read more from “Joe Biden Introduces Himself as Kamala Harris’s Running Mate” HERE)

Coronavirus Has a Scary, Lasting Impact on Our Brains

Coronavirus can significantly impact brain function, causing mental decline equivalent to the brain aging 10 years, according to an alarming new study.

A study of more than 84,000 people in the UK found that the virus left even those deemed recovered with “chronic cognitive consequences” that it compared to dropping 8.5 IQ points.

“People who had recovered, including those no longer reporting symptoms, exhibited significant cognitive deficits,” the study published on MedRxiv said.

“The deficits were broad, affecting multiple cognitive domains,” the researchers warned in the study, which has yet to be peer-reviewed. . .

The cognitive deficits were “of substantial effect size” and “scaled with symptom severity,” especially those hospitalized, but also “evident amongst those without hospital treatment,” the study said. (Read more from “Coronavirus Has a Scary, Lasting Impact on Our Brains” HERE)

Early Voters Want to Change Their Vote After Hunter Biden Exposés; Election Expert Weighs in on Early Voting Surge and What It Means for 2020 Race

By New York Post. The Post’s exposés on Hunter Biden appear to have helped spark a rush of early voters seeing if they can change their minds — with New York one of a handful of states giving some that unexpected right.

More than 58.5 million have already cast their ballots, and searches for “Can I change my vote” started trending over the last few days — linked to searches for “Hunter Biden,” according to Google Trends data.

The biggest interest has come from Arizona, Tennessee and Virginia, all states that — like most of the US — only give residents one shot at the polls.

But “in some states, you can submit your ballot, have a change of heart and, and submit a new ballot,” Matthew Weil, director of the Election Project at the Bipartisan Policy Center, told Newsy. . .

In a recent update, the Wisconsin Elections Commission also noted that “many voters” had been getting in contact to see how they could revoke their initial absentee ballot — something they can easily do. (Read more from “Some Early Voters Want to Change Their Vote After Hunter Biden Exposés” HERE)

Election Expert Weighs in on Early Voting Surge and What It Means for 2020 Race

By Fox News. . .More than 59 million total ballots cast as of Monday morning suggested a record turnout for this year’s race compared to the 47.2 million early votes cast in the 2016 election, according to data from the United States Elections Project.

That number of early ballots cast so far represents 43.1% of the total national voter turnout in 2016, and the total number of ballots cast includes more than 40 million mail-in ballots and 19.4 million in-person ballots.

“The numbers are stunning.,” said Elections Project founder and University of Florida political science professor Michael McDonald in an Oct. 25 blog post on the project website. . .

“Nationwide, voters will not only be sent an unprecedented number of at least 87 million mail ballots, but they are returning them sooner than in past elections,” McDonald wrote. “In all nearly 40 million mail ballots have been returned so far, a return rate of nearly 46%.”

“This is good news!” he continued, pointing to worries about whether or not government officials would be able to handle an election during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Yes, there have been problems, and in many places lines are intolerably long,” he recognized. “But, people are voting and there are more opportunities for them to do so by Election Day. Americans’ resilience and support for their democracy is very heartening in these trying times.” (Read more from “Election Expert Weighs in on Early Voting Surge and What It Means for 2020 Race” HERE)

Amy Coney Barrett Confirmed to Supreme Court; Biden Slams ‘Rushed and Unprecedented’ Confirmation

By Fox News. Members of the progressive “Squad” of House Democrats didn’t skip a beat on Monday, calling for court-packing almost immediately after Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Just before the Senate’s vote on Monday, Biden floated the possibility that he could move justices to other courts.

“There is some literature among constitutional scholars about the possibility of going from one court to another court, not just always staying the whole time in the Supreme Court but I have made no judgement,” Biden said at a campaign stop in Chester, Pa.

He went on to say that “there are just a group of serious constitutional scholars, have a number of ideas how we should proceed from this point on.” (Read more from “Amy Coney Barrett Confirmed to Supreme Court” HERE)

Biden Slams ‘Rushed and Unprecedented’ Amy Coney Barrett Confirmation

By New York Post. Vice President Joe Biden on Monday night slammed the “rushed and unprecedented” confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Biden issued the condemnation in a lengthy statement release shortly after Barrett was officially sworn in to the nation’s highest court.

“The rushed and unprecedented confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett as Associate Justice to the Supreme Court, in the middle of an ongoing election, should be a stark reminder to every American that your vote matters,” the Democratic presidential candidate said.
