Army Warns of Fake Texts Claiming Citizens Are Being Drafted

The U.S. Army has issued an “urgent” statement on Tuesday, regarding fraudulent texts telling citizens they have been drafted.

U.S. Army Recruiting Command Public Affairs have released a warning to anyone who has received an alleged draft notice on their phones. “A number of fraudulent text messages informing individuals they have been selected for a military draft have circulated throughout the country this week,” they wrote in a statement published online by their office of Public Affairs.

“U.S. Army Recruiting Command has received multiple calls and emails about these fake text messages and wants to ensure Americans understand these texts are false and were not initiated by this command or the U.S. Army,” they continued. Furthermore, they reassured concerned citizens that they would receive ample warning should an actual draft ever be enacted. New York Times’ Paul Krugman Says Somebody Else Is Using His IP Address to Download Child Porn

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman said someone he does not know is breaking into his computer and illegally downloading child pornography.

“Someone compromised my IP address and is using it to download child pornography,” Krugman told his Twitter followers Wednesday. “I might just be a random target. But this could be an attempt to Qanon me.” . . .

Past reports documented instances of people using another person’s Internet Protocol (IP) address to illegally download pornography. Investigators arrested one man in New York whom they determined downloaded child porn, according to one 2011 report by Syracuse.com.

Investigators eventually discovered the man’s neighbor was downloading pornography through open wireless signal.

Federal laws prohibit the production and distribution of child pornography, and people who are convicted of obtaining or exporting such content face severe statutory penalties. Federal prosecutors arrested several child pornographers in 2019. (Read more from “New York Times’ Paul Krugman Says Somebody Else Is Using His IP Address to Download Child Porn” HERE)

Career Criminal out on Bail Arrested for Brutal Rape — Then Released on Bail AGAIN

“Juveniles too often are not held accountable for their conduct, and the system perpetuates this lack of accountability.” ~Report from President Reagan’s Task Force on Victims of Crime

In case you thought that constant release of violent repeat offenders was limited to places like New York, I present you with the case of D’Shawn Garrison in Georgia. Nearly 100 percent of the focus on criminal justice in all 50 states is now geared toward leniencies for people like Garrison, not his victims.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, D’Shawn Garrison has been arrested a dozen times, including for armed robbery, even though he is only 17 years old. Throughout his criminal history, he spent barely any time in jail. As WJCL reports, he was most recently arrested earlier this year on charges of theft and involvement in a carjacking, but he was released despite his record. As part of his release, he was forced to wear an ankle monitor, but those monitors fail to deter and incapacitate criminals the way incarceration does. One unnamed woman allegedly paid the price when, according to Fulton County Police, Garrison attacked her just three days later on May 9 while she was jogging in broad daylight.

“He was wearing an ankle monitor when he attacked me. I don’t know how many crimes this kid has to commit before they actually keep him in jail,” the unnamed mother of two told WJCL.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the assault only stopped because of a good Samaritan who intervened and held down Garrison until police came. Garrison was charged with rape, aggravated assault by strangulation, battery that caused substantial physical harm, and interference with government property. Police at the time were perplexed that it took something like this to finally hold Garrison. Little did they know, he’d be granted bond again.

This woman is yet another victim of the broken criminal justice system that liberals in both parties want to make even more lenient for people like Garrison. But it gets worse than that. Even after he was arrested for rape and aggravated assault, Fulton County Superior Judge Rachel Krause agreed to reinstate his bail at just $50,000. But fear not, she is making him wear an ankle monitor!

This is part of a broader trend of weak sentencing and pretrial release from jail even for repeat violent offenders, but it’s a particular problem with juveniles. Unfortunately, there are a lot of teenagers who are capable of committing brutal crimes, yet there is no deterrent because they are barely punished these days, even for serious crimes. In my part of Baltimore County, there is a rash of carjackings being committed by teens who often have at least five felonies within six months because of catch-and-release.

Government was created so people can enjoy their liberty to move about unrestricted without fear of being carjacked or raped while jogging. Yet there seems to be no voice, even in red states, to solve this aspect of the criminal justice problem. None of these criminal justice commissions being created by Republican governors are factoring in the needs of victims and public safety. Instead, there is a bipartisan consensus to become more and more lenient on criminals across the entire justice system.

It’s eerie to look back and examine what President Reagan’s Task Force on Victims of Crime observed about the juvenile justice system in its final report:

“Armed robbery, rape, and murder cannot be laid at the door of mere immaturity or youthful exuberance. The victims of these crimes are no less traumatized because the offender was under age. A substantial proportion of the violent crime in this country is committed by juveniles, who are becoming more violent at an increasingly early age.”

How ominous were those warnings, as the culture of violence has grown exponentially worse since the 1980s and as so many of the federal and state policies inspired by Reagan to protect victims of crime get reversed.

The lack of deterrent against repeat offenders is causing a spike in crime in Atlanta just like in other big cities in blue states. One police zone in Atlanta, which includes midtown, experienced an 11 percent increase in robberies and a 36 percent increase in thefts that police blame on repeat offenders cycling in and out of jail. A recent report from the Atlanta Repeat Offender Commission sheds some light on why crime is increasing. In 2017 and 2018, just 23 percent of repeat offenders arrested by Atlanta police were sentenced to any degree of confinement by Fulton County Superior Court judges — a decrease of nearly 14 percent from those sentenced in 2016. The most common sentence issued by a Fulton judge was “time served.” Yet now, not only are few of them being sentenced to prison time, but more of them are being released from pretrial jail on ridiculously low bail.

And remember, by not deterring those who commit robbery and theft, not only will these cities experience more of those crimes, but these individuals will also be the most likely pool of rape and homicide offenders. This is true where I live in Baltimore County. As carjackings grow rampant, murders spiked 85 percent this past year, setting an all-time record.

There is a gathering storm of increasing crime across America. Several years’ worth of weak-on-crime policies have ensured that more bad guys are out on the streets than we’ve seen in a generation. With these criminals back on the streets and with the understanding that the system is reluctant to reincarcerate them, they will continue to offend. Criminals are no different from Iran. The same way Iran kept ratcheting up its attacks, knowing that we were reluctant to engage, criminals will continue to commit crimes if they don’t anticipate a likelihood of hard prison time awaiting them after being arrested. This is especially true of juveniles.

The only question now is how bad things have to get before the people demand a course correction. (For more from the author of “Career Criminal out on Bail Arrested for Brutal Rape — Then Released on Bail Again” please click HERE)

No Cellphones, Laptops Were Allowed to Go With U.S. Paratroopers Deploying to Middle East

Paratroopers deploying to the Middle East were told to leave behind their cellphones, laptops, tablets and other personal electronic devices, according to Army 82nd Airborne Division officials.

The move was made to ensure operational security was maintained during the emergency deployment, which saw 3,500 paratroopers from 1st Brigade Combat Team begin to fly out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, over the first week of January.

“Anything considered a personal electronic device. All those things,” Lt. Col. Mike Burns, division spokesman, told Army Times. “But banned is a harsh word. The decision was made so soldiers weren’t put at risk.”

Burns confirmed that the decision was intended to both ensure that sensitive information pertaining to the deployment and mission was not shared outside official channels, and also to prevent any potential cyberattacks against the soldiers. . .

The paratroopers began deploying to the region following a rapid increase in tensions between the United States and Iran in early January, which culminated in a Thursday night U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian Quds Force commander Gen. Qassem Soleimani. Pentagon officials said at the time Soleimani was “actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members,” but has yet to provide proof to support that claim. CNN Settles Nick Sandmann Defamation Lawsuit in Covington Catholic High School Controversy

CNN on Tuesday settled a defamation lawsuit filed by Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann over its botched coverage of a viral confrontation with a Native American elder that had portrayed the Kentucky teen as the aggressor.

Fox 19 first reported that CNN settled with Sandmann for an undisclosed amount. The $250 million defamation suit sought damages for the “emotional distress Nicholas and his family suffered” in the fallout of the network’s reporting.

A lawyer for Sandmann declined to comment on the settlement but confirmed to Fox News that lawsuits against The Washington Post and NBC were ongoing. Fox 19 also reported that Sandmann attorney L. Lin Wood told the judge they planned to sue media company Gannett, the publisher of the Cincinnati Enquirer among other newspapers, within 60 days. Gannett did not immediately comment either.

Last March, Sandmann’s attorneys launched their suit against CNN for its coverage of the incident before all the facts had surfaced. The teen was seeking a whopping $800 million in damages between the three news outlets.

Senate Democrat All but Tells Nancy Pelosi to End Impeachment Articles Holdup

. . .The scores of witnesses Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) brought before the House Intelligence Committee didn’t back up their elaborate impeachment scheme. in fact, it only increased Trump’s approval ratings and made swing state voters look on this move with greater disapproval; it pushed key battleground areas further away from Democrats this year. Bravo. Oh, and the whistleblower report from which this big top event was spawned was from a CIA agent who is a registered Democrat and had contacted Schiff’s’ staff prior to filing the report. Schiff knew the contents beforehand and prepared to weaponize them in this effort. Yeah, not a witch hunt. This whistleblower also worked with a 2020 Democratic candidate. There is zero credibility with this impeachment nonsense. None. All it did was lower the bar for this political maneuver.

The House voted on the impeachment articles, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi withheld them because she wanted assurances that the Republican Senate would hold a fair trial. That’s not her call. She stalled because she knew this faces certain death in the Senate. As Kimberley Strassel of The Wall Street Journal noted, this is “rolling impeachment.” Democrats don’t want a trial; that’ll only further rip apart their garbage case. They want time to logroll other nonsense into this circus act. The more this is in the news, to them, the greater the chance Trump’s numbers are damaged. Well, that didn’t happen, and the economy is booming, so great strategy there, Democrats.

Now, with even moderate Republicans holding firm on nixing a witness deal that Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wants, despite him not wanting witnesses for when Bill Clinton was impeached—Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) has accepted defeat. He pretty much told Nancy that with the GOP not budging, she might as well send over the articles. Yet, McConnell probably should have moved on this without the articles and dismiss the charges. The longer this stayed in limbo, the longer the Democrats had a chance to further degrade constitutional order on the Hill.

Trump Responds to Iranian Attacks, Pentagon Releases Statement

By Daily Wire. President Donald Trump responded to Iran attacks [on] U.S. forces in Iraq on Tuesday night by announcing that damage assessments that are taking place appear to show that minimal, if any, damage was done.

Trump tweeted, “All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning.”

U.S. Military Bases Attacked by Iran Have Hosted Trump and Pence, Damage Unclear: What We Know

By USA Today. Two military bases attacked by at least a dozen Iranian missiles late Tuesday have hosted President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence in the past year or so, and Trump appeared to refer to one of them this week when he threatened Iraq with sanctions if it tried to expel U.S. troops.

The Pentagon confirmed missile strikes on the Ain Assad Airbase in western Iraq and a base in Irbil in northern Iraq. It was unclear late Tuesday whether there were casualties. . .

Both bases host U.S. and coalition forces assigned to fighting the Islamic State. The United States has about 5,000 soldiers in Iraq.

“It was a massive attack with ballistic missiles,” said a U.S. official who was not authorized to speak publicly. (Read more from “Us Military Bases Attacked by Iran Have Hosted Trump and Pence, Damage Unclear: What We Know” HERE)

Advocate for Pro-Criminal Policies Arrested for Burglary

I guess we now know why some people advocate so vociferously for abolishing incarceration in America.

Alex Friedmann, 50, a longtime advocate of reducing criminal penalties, was arrested on Saturday for attempted burglary of the Nashville Downtown Detention Center. He was also charged with evidence tampering and possessing burglary tools.

Friedmann, the managing editor of the anti-incarceration Prison Legal News, was caught on surveillance camera at the detention center entering while posing as a construction worker and spray-painting around the key control room door, according to the Davidson County sheriff’s office.

Fox17 reports that when sheriff’s deputies apprehended Friedmann, he was holding “an Igloo cooler containing bolt cutters, a key chit, and a DDC schematics document.” He also tried to destroy the document as evidence. According to the sheriff’s office, surveillance camera footage shows that he had entered the facility disguised as a construction worker three other times in the last week of December.

Well, I guess that is one way to pursue criminal justice “reform.”

Friedmann served six years in Tennessee prison for attempted murder, armed robbery, and attempted aggravated robbery. That’s certainly not a lot of time for such serious offenses, but ever since his release, he has been a vocal critic of incarceration. It would be funny if it weren’t so sad, but Friedmann’s recent actions demonstrate the problem with so many violent offenders – that they never rid themselves of the criminal mentality. If anything, Friedmann himself is a living example of the need for longer sentences and stronger deterrent, even as he advocates for jailbreak.

One might think Friedmann is some radical left-wing voice that would only resonate in places like San Francisco and New York, but Governor Bill Lee in Tennessee is drinking out of his watercooler. He is using the same buzzwords as those who pushed the disastrous bill in New York – promoting more parole and “community supervision” for so-called low-level offenders. This is absurd because as it is, even high-level offenders often get off easy in Tennessee. Yet Lee’s “Criminal Justice Reform Task Force” is not designed to focus on the needs of victims but of criminals. Nothing in his plan focuses on ensuring that repeat violent offenders are locked up.

Friedmann, for his part, posted bail and has been released. But he’s not the only jailbreak advocate who has tried out the system firsthand.

Yesterday, the New York Daily News reported that Orlando Dennis, whose wife is chief of staff to state Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, was arrested for allegedly orchestrating a cocaine shipment at Kennedy airport. “This isn’t someone who had drugs in his stomach through desperation. This is someone who was organizing hundreds of thousands of dollars of cocaine,” assistant U.S. attorney Jonathan Siegel said.

State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie was one of the lead figures in passing the New York bill to abolish bail. Last year, when the General Assembly voted to decriminalize marijuana, Heastie complained, “The drug laws that are currently on the books have devastated our communities by disproportionately targeting people of color, forcing them to live with a criminal record that makes it harder to get a job or find housing.” Well, he’s right – drugs have devastated black communities, particularly cocaine. They have destroyed countless lives and have increased the homelessness problem. I guess his top aide now has firsthand experience. Bernie Sanders Compares Trump Order to Kill Soleimani to Putin Assassinating Russian Dissidents

Democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders compared President Donald Trump’s decision to order an airstrike on Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani to Russian President Vladimir Putin having dissidents executed.

During an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Sanders said the killing of Soleimani will cause “chaos” and “instability.”

“This guy, you know, was, as bad as he was, an official of the Iranian government,” Sanders said of Soleimani. “And, you unleash—then, if China does that, you know, if Russia does that, you know, Russia has been implicated under Putin with assassinating dissidents. So, once you’re in the business of assassination, you unleash some very, very terrible forces. And, what I’m seeing now in this world as a result of Trump’s actions, more and more chaos, more and more instability.”

Whether one agrees with the Soleimani killing or not, Sanders’ comparison is objectively nonsensical. With the strike against Soleimani, the U.S. eliminated a military leader from an adversarial nation who was responsible for American deaths, which is obviously quite different than if the president had ordered the assassination of a domestic political opponent. Is Biden Considering “Cocaine Murkowksi” as a Potential Vice Presidential Running Mate for 2020?

According to the Hill today, some are speculating that Joe Biden might be considering Lisa Murkowski as his vice presidential running mate for 2020:

Choosing a Republican for vice president could ignite a fire on the floor at the Democratic National Convention. As Biden himself claimed last week, “You know, there are some really decent Republicans that are out there still. But here is the problem right now, of the well known ones. They have got to step up. You know what I mean?”

Only a handful of Republicans come to mind to run with Biden, and they are Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Vermont Governor Phil Scott, and former Ohio Governor John Kasich, the man who refused to be on the ticket with Trump, much to the consternation with Trump. All five of these politicians have demonstrated the capacity to buck Trump and the Republican Party.

Murkowski voted against ObamaCare repeal and Brett Kavanaugh. She has expressed her disapproval of the willingness of McConnell to act as a lackey for the White House in the impeachment inquiry. Then there is her own political history. In 2010, Murkowski won reelection as a write in after losing the Republican primary to Joe Miller . . .

But Murkowski has all sorts of troubling history. In a national race, unprotected by her minions in Alaska, you’d be sure to hear about her alleged cocaine use, being a representative for a company caught stealing bar examination results (after she herself failed the bar exam four or five times, and then mysteriously passed the exam after using the company’s stolen exams), illegal campaign donations, backing blanket amnesty for illegals, supporting Planned Parenthood’s butchery of the unborn, lying repeatedly about her support for Obamacare, practically assaulting a reporter, having her henchman Tuckerman Babcock lie to the FEC (Joe Miller was cleared of the false charges) and file a false police report, vote fraud, and numerous other issues. She’s clearly unfit for her current office, not to mention the Vice Presidency.

But more power to Biden. His vice presidential running mate would fit in perfectly with his friends and family. And lose him a few million votes.
