Trump Hands Amazon a Curveball Loss

The Trump administration tossed a curveball Friday at Amazon and awarded a $10 billion cloud contract the company was expecting to land to one of the tech titan’s biggest competitors, Microsoft.

Amazon had long been considered a front-runner for the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure, or JEDI. The decision came after President Donald Trump, a critic of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, instructed the Department of Defense in August to put the contract on hold.

“This contract will address critical and urgent unmet warfighter requirements for modern cloud infrastructure at all three classification levels delivered out to the tactical edge,” the DOD noted in a statement Friday after the announcement. Amazon said it was surprised at the result, which took months to happen.

“AWS is the clear leader in cloud computing, and a detailed assessment purely on the comparative offerings clearly led to a different conclusion,” Drew Herdener, a spokesman for the company, told reporters. Amazon will continue to be at the forefront of battle-readiness, he added.

Trump’s past criticism of Amazon will give Amazon grounds to protest the award, according to Price Floyd, a former head of public affairs at the Pentagon who consulted for Amazon. “He’s the commander-in-chief, and he hasn’t been subtle about his hostility toward Amazon,” Floyd told reporters. Muslim Member of Human Rights Commission Denies Calls to Resign After He Called Gays an ‘Abomination to the Human Race’

The mayor of Virginia Beach, Virginia, is calling for a Muslim member of the Human Rights Commission to resign after anti-gay comments were unearthed. . .

El posted the comments to his personal Facebook account, which included referring to homosexuality as an “abomination to the Human Race,” and also a mental illness. . .

El also posted an article about a transgender person sexually abusing a child, and added a comment many found offensive to the LGBTQ community.

“This is why we need to stop giving men in dresses passes,” he wrote.

“I have daughters and I won’t accept them sharing a restroom with a grown man suffering from this mental illness,” he added. “Men trying to be women and women trying to be men is really confusing our children and I’m tired of seeing this nonsense promoted to our children.”

They’re Trying to Take out Your President, and They Don’t Want You to Know Who the Whistleblower Is

Attorneys for the federal employee whose whistleblower complaint has been the basis for the House’s ongoing impeachment proceedings say that their client’s identity is irrelevant and should remain secret from members of Congress and the American public.

In a Friday op-ed at the Washington Post, Andrew P. Bakaj and Mark S. Zaid — both attorneys representing the federal employee — make the case that because the public already knows more than what was in the employee’s complaint, the employee should remain anonymous to the public.

“Much of what has been disclosed since the release of our client’s complaint actually exceeds the whistleblower’s knowledge of what transpired at the time the complaint was submitted. Because our client has no additional information about the president’s call, there is no justification for exposing their identity and all the risks that would follow.”

The lawyers also took issue with calls for their client testify publicly as “nothing more than a diversionary tactic,” explaining that they that they “have notified both the House and Senate intelligence committees in a bipartisan manner that the whistleblower is willing to respond to any questions in writing and under oath.”

While Bakaj has said that his client is “entitled to anonymity” under “law and policy,” Republicans have cast the identity question as a transparency and credibility matter.

Earlier this week, ranking Republican members on the three House committees said that the employee — as well as the sources used for the complaint — should be brought in for testimony because “the Committees ought to fully assess the sources and credibility of the employee.” The trio pointed to “inconsistencies between facts as alleged by the employee and information obtained during the so-called impeachment inquiry” as the reason such an assessment is needed.

“Why don’t we know who the person is who started this whole charade that Adam Schiff is now doing in the bunker of the basement of the Capitol?” House Oversight Committee top Republican Jim Jordan asked at a Wednesday press conference. “More importantly, why don’t the American people know?”

So far, it has only been reported that the employees is a male CIA officer who used to work with former Vice President Joe Biden during the last administration and is a registered Democrat. Illegal Alien in Sanctuary Chicago Arrested for Deaths of Two Legal Immigrants in Drunk-Driving Wreck

“We are a nation of immigrants,” is the common refrain from the illegal alien lobby. But sadly, when we don’t enforce our basic sovereignty laws, legal immigrants who come here to escape anarchy wind up being victims of criminal aliens. 27-year-old Marko Boskovic, of Revere, Massachusetts, and 26-year-old Laura Uribe, of LaGrange, Illinois, are two immigrants who are now dead thanks to an illegal alien who allegedly killed them while driving drunk. Sadly, their names will never be known to the tone-deaf politicians in Congress.

Juan Rodea-Cruz is accused of veering into oncoming traffic and killing Uribe and Boskovic and seriously injuring a third person while allegedly driving drunk early Sunday morning in Clarendon Hills, a suburb southwest of Chicago. His vehicle struck a car occupied by four people, resulting in the two fatalities and serious injury of another occupant.

According to police, Rodea-Cruz was found alone in his car after the crash with several opened and unopened bottles of beer in the car, along with a broken bottle of hard liquor. He was booked in DuPage County jail on two charges of aggravated DUI resulting in death and one charge of aggravated DUI resulting in serious bodily injury. The DuPage County jail booking shows that there is a detainer on Rodea-Cruz from ICE, which indicates that ICE already believes he is in the country illegally.

Although the incident occurred in neighboring DuPage County, media reports indicate that Rodea-Cruz is from Chicago. It’s very likely that he was attracted to a place like Chicago because he knows officials will never enforce the law and will downright obstruct ICE in its work to remove people like him. Chicago police recently sent out a memo to officers instructing them to leave the scene of an immigration enforcement action rather than cooperate with ICE. They also put out a video lumping in immigration status with gender and race as identities that don’t matter to their officers.

Of course, immigration status does matter. Unlike race or gender, which should never affect criminal justice decisions, knowing immigration status matters in the case of criminal aliens because it’s the difference between having them back on the streets and having them out of the country.

The media calls him a “Chicago man,” but clearly he is not a Chicago man. ICE has not yet responded for comment as of this writing, so it is still unclear from which country Rodea-Cruz hails. But this is a crime that should have never occurred because he should never have been able to live in Chicago.

Illegal alien DUIs are prevalent. Just in one year of apprehensions with very limited resources, ICE arrested a pool of aliens who together racked up 80,730 DUIs, not including over 76,000 other driving offenses. A 2010 report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that Hispanics are “less likely” to believe that driving while intoxicated is a “safety problem” or that they will be caught in the act. Also, the Texas Department of Transportation reported that “10,607 Latino drivers were involved in alcohol-related crashes in 2009, and the nearly 200 that died represent 31 percent of all DWI driver fatalities in the state.”

In this case, two legal immigrants with promising lives ahead of them were killed because America failed them and did not uphold the promise of a secure nation to which they immigrated. Uribe was from Colombia, and Boscovik was from Serbia. Boscovik’s family has a GoFundMe page to bring his body back to Serbia for a memorial. Another House Democrat Under Investigation for Alleged Sex Scandal

The House Ethics Committee announced this week that it has started an investigation into Democratic freshman Delegate Michael F. Q. San Nicolas of Guam, a non-voting member of the House of Representatives, over allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a congressional staff member.

“The Committee is aware of public allegations that Delegate Michael F. Q. San Nicolas may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an individual on his congressional staff, converted campaign funds to personal use, and/or accepted improper or excessive campaign contributions,” the committee said in a statement. “The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), has begun an investigation and will gather additional information regarding the allegations.”

John Paul Manuel – the former chief of staff and senior aide campaign official for San Nicolas – accused him in September of “using funds raised for his congressional campaign as reimbursements for an alleged foreign trip and hotel stays with his alleged mistress,” according to The Guam Daily Post. . .

Manuel also accused San Nicolas of forgery, saying: “He forged his father’s signature on all checks. He said he did so that if he was ever caught, it would be his father that got in trouble – not himself.” (Read more from “Another House Democrat Under Investigation for Alleged Sex Scandal” HERE)

Prince Andrew’s Ties to Pedophile Epstein Remain Ignored; Report: Prince Accused of Orgy Involving 9 ‘Young Girls’

Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein Ties Remain Uninvestigated by London Police: ‘You Don’t Take on the Royal Family Lightly’

By Newsweek. Renewed questions are being asked as to why British police have not interviewed Prince Andrew over his alleged sex trafficking links to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

A documentary, which aired on British TV Monday night, examined the relationship between the Duke of York and the billionaire financier, who was found dead in his New York prison cell on August 10 while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking offenses.

Among some of the revelations that came out during the Channel 4’s Dispatches program, entitled “The Prince and the Paedophile,” were how Epstein had a total of 13 numbers for Prince Andrew in his book of high-profile contacts and acquaintances. Prince Andrew Accused of Having Orgy With Jeffrey Epstein & Nine ‘Young Girls’ Who ‘Didn’t Really Speak English’

By Perez Hilton. Prince Andrew can run, but he can’t hide from the unsettling accusations involving his alleged friendship with convicted deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

According to reports, Queen Elizabeth II’s third child took part in an orgy with Epstein and at least nine young women while visiting the billionaire financer’s private Caribbean island of Little St. James.

The allegation is being made by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who, as we reported, previously accused Epstein of keeping her as a teenage sex slave and coercing her to have intercourse with his influential friends — including the Prince, allegedly. . .

Giuffre, however, is adamant her relationship with the prince was nothing of the sort. She described the alleged orgy in evidence written to a Florida court four years ago, writing:

“The third time I had sex with Andy was in an orgy on Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I was around 18 at the time. Epstein, Andy, approximately eight other young girls and I had sex together. The other girls all seemed and appeared to be under the age of 18 and didn’t really speak English. Epstein laughed about the fact they couldn’t really communicate, saying that they are the ‘easiest’ girls to get along with.”

Poll: Majority of Americans Want First Amendment Rewritten

A majority of Americans believe the First Amendment should be rewritten and are willing to crack down on free speech, as well as the press, according to a new poll.

More than 60 percent of Americans agree on restricting speech in some way, while a slim majority, 51 percent, want to see the First Amendment rewritten to “reflect the cultural norms of today.” The Campaign for Free Speech, which conducted the survey, said the results “indicate free speech is under more threat than previously believed.” . . .

Of the 1,004 respondents, young people were the most likely to support curbing free expression and punishing those who engage in “hate speech.” Nearly 60 percent of Millennials—respondents between the ages of 21 and 38—agreed that the Constitution “goes too far in allowing hate speech in modern America” and should be rewritten, compared to 48 percent of Gen Xers and 47 percent of Baby Boomers. A majority of Millennials also supported laws that would make “hate speech” a crime—of those supporters, 54 percent said violators should face jail time.

American hostility to the First Amendment did not stop at speech. Many would also like to see a crackdown on the free press. Nearly 60 percent of respondents agreed that the “government should be able to take action against newspapers and TV stations that publish content that is biased, inflammatory, or false.” Of those respondents, 46 percent supported possible jail time.

The poll was released just two days after two University of Connecticut students were arrested for allegedly saying racial slurs in a viral video. The 21-year-old suspects were allegedly playing “a game in which they yelled vulgar words,” according to the police report. Lystad said such incidents and the rise of social media may be behind the increased willingness of Americans to curb speech rights. Only 7(!) Republican Senators Are Ruling out Removing Donald Trump

Earlier this week, the conservative Daily Caller website asked the offices of each of the 53 Republican senators whether they opposed the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump. Just seven of them said yes. . .

The seven who did confirm they oppose impeachment to the Caller are: Sens. James Inhofe (Oklahoma), Cindy Hyde-Smith (Mississippi), Thom Tillis (North Carolina), Roger Wicker (Mississippi), Mike Rounds (South Dakota), Rob Portman (Ohio) and Jerry Moran (Kansas). . .

Of the 46 Republican senators who didn’t expressly reject impeachment, almost half — 22 — simply declined to comment to the Caller. Which, in and of itself, is telling! Many of the others criticized House Democrats for their impeachment inquiry but failed to rule out the possibility of voting to remove him from office if it came to that. . .

“The picture coming out of it, based on the reporting that we’ve seen, I would say is not a good one,” Sen. John Thune, the second-ranking Republican in the Senate told CNN’s Ted Barrett Wednesday morning regarding the testimony of US diplomat Bill Taylor this week. “But I would say also that until we have a process that allows for everybody to see this in full transparency, it’s pretty hard to draw a hard and fast conclusions.” (Read more from “Only 7(!) Importing Both Sides of Middle East Gang Wars Into OUR Communities

“Prosecutors have charged a teenager in the shooting death of 25-year-old Mustafa Ali last week, in the latest sign that an ongoing conflict between rival East African gangs is spilling into north Minneapolis.”

Those are the words of a Star Tribune article from last week describing the latest gang-on-gang attacks within the Somali community in Minneapolis. Unfortunately, gang-on-gang violence is not exactly a newsworthy story in America, but what should concern us is that we are importing both sides of pre-existing gang wars from half way around the world. All those who are promoting mass migration and refugee resettlement from every war-torn Middle Eastern country don’t want you to study what has already happened in our own communities as a result of their policies.

In the case of the aforementioned homicide of Mustafa Ali, it’s believed to have stemmed from a fight between the “Somali Outlaws” and “1627 Boys” gangs. Unfortunately, this is nothing new for the Minneapolis area, at least not since it became Little Mogadishu beginning in the 1990s.

Imagine building a beautiful community somewhere in the suburbs and then having a handful of neighbors use your homeowner’s association dues to bring in scores of violent Bloods and Crips members from downtown. Well, on the national and international levels, that is what the elites have done to taxpayers by bringing in so many security problems from the Middle East without the input of local communities.

We’ve brought in roughly 130,000 Somalis since 1993, most of them through the refugee program. At least 30,000 initially settled in the Minneapolis area, and their population is now close to 74,000. They have turned out to be one of the most problematic immigration groups we’ve admitted in recent years, with the local U.S. attorney and a federal judge observing a pervasive terror recruiting problem in the greater Minneapolis area with “its tentacles spread out.”

However, the problem is not just terror recruiting. The culture of “Minnesota nice” has been replaced with gangs and crime too. A 2009 MPR article titled, “Young Somali men escape homeland, but not violence” chronicled how “Somali gangs are beginning to divide themselves across the same clan lines that destroyed their homeland” in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. A recent article in local Alpha News reported on the growing trend of “unchecked gang retaliation and violence in the Twin Cities Somali community.”

Violent incidents spiked 60 percent from 2010 to 2017 in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, a trend authorities blame on a “simmering rivalry between St. Paul and Minneapolis East African gangs as a cause of much of the violence.” It’s spilling over to other areas of the Twin Cities. During a three-week period last month, 48 robberies were reported in downtown Minneapolis, with 23 in one week. Overall, there has been a 53.8 percent increase in robberies since last year. Even people within the Somali community are calling for more policing.

Then, of course, the Somalis aren’t the only refugees straining and transforming Minnesota cities. Last month, the Washington Post profiled the social transformation of Worthington, Minnesota, as a result of the Central American teens who are resettled under the refugee program.

Shockingly, rather than learning from the mistakes of the past refugee resettlement, 16 House Republicans sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo demanding he raise the refugee cap for this year, despite the million-person backlog in the immigration courts. Senate Republicans led by Sen. James Lankford made similar demands of the president. There is never any accounting of what this program, coupled with chain migration, has wrought on American communities.

Touting his new policy to allow local communities to veto refugee resettlement, President Trump told a Minneapolis audience earlier this month that for far too long their voices have been forgotten. “As you know, for many years, leaders in Washington brought large numbers of refugees to your state from Somalia without considering the impact on schools and communities and taxpayers,” Trump said at a rally in Minneapolis earlier in October. “You should be able to decide what is best for your own cities and for your own neighborhoods, and that’s what you have the right to do right now, and believe me, no other president would be doing that.”

Americans wake up every day thankful not to live in other countries that are plagued by violence and poverty. Unfortunately, over time, thanks to irresponsible mass migration, the vices of those countries are brought in to live in their own neighborhoods without their say in the matter. Judge Releases Convicted Gang Killer on Zero Bail

Last week, I highlighted the case of a New York City gang member arrested for robbery being released on $6K bond and now accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old while out on bail. Well, another NYC judge just released a convicted gang murderer arrested for felony possession of a firearm on zero bond. The abolish bail movement is going to become the new normal unless the silent majority speaks out.

According to the New York Post, which has covered the spate of violent criminals released back onto the streets in recent months, Shakeil Chandler, 32, served eight years in prison for a 2006 murder in Queens. Despite the complaints of the elitists that too many “low-level” offenders are locked up for too long, this reputed Crips gang member was paroled in 2014 thanks to a plea deal in 2009. Indeed, even the most violent gang members are paroled these days.

Like most gang-bangers released from prison, Chandler went back to the criminal underworld. On October 4, he was busted at 2 a.m. at the scene of a shooting in the Bronx and was seen kicking a Taurus .357 Magnum revolver under a car. He was arrested by NYPD and charged with felony possession. Remember, he’s a convicted murderer and a gang member. Yet Bronx Criminal Court Judge Jeanine Johnson released Chandler without bail. She cited, in part, the fact that Chandler “has full custody of his child” as rationale for releasing him.

It’s a shame these legal elites never exhibit the same sense of care and sympathy for innocent families victimized by their bleeding-heart decisions.

This is part of a dangerous growing trend of liberal jurisdictions that claim to detest gun violence doing everything they can to avoid locking up known violent felons who are caught illegally possessing firearms. The fact that Republicans in Washington have not made an issue of this gross hypocrisy in the gun control debate is shocking. There is a real need for tougher federal laws to ensure that federal prosecutors are able to more efficiently scoop up these cases where local prosecutors and county judges go wobbly both on pretrial release and post-conviction sentencing.

However, according to the Post, there is a more intriguing twist to the case of Judge Johnson’s release of Chandler. Perhaps she has such an aversion to jail because she herself was a recipient of jailbreak.

On June 25, 2014, Johnson was arrested for driving erratically at 4 a.m. in the morning and checked in at 0.113 on a Breathalyzer — well over the legal limit for DUI. She allegedly refused to get out of the car and invoked her status as general counsel to then-Manhattan Assemblyman Keith Wright. Johnson was charged with DWI, reckless driving, and resisting arrest, but allegedly used favors to downgrade the charges to driving while ability impaired, which is only a violation, not a crime. According to the Post, “Wright sent the judge in that case a letter describing Johnson as an “indispensable member” of his staff. She got off with a $300 fine and a 90-day suspension of her driver’s license. Now she is a judge.

Judge Johnson best embodies the elite mentality of the limousine liberals in the legal profession. They sanctimoniously decry unfair incarceration – at the expense of public safety – and release the worst gang members back on the streets. Then, they seek to suspend the laws for themselves.

This case is no aberration. New York is slated to abolish cash bail entirely beginning next year for all but a small number of criminals arrested on the streets. Earlier this month, city law enforcement released an illegal alien previously convicted for child sex offenses after he was re-arrested for a similar offense and had served only a few months in jail. He was only taken off the streets thanks to the work of ICE.

All the hard work that went into cleaning up New York City 25 years ago is beginning to slip down the drain. Thanks to the NYPD releasing thousands of dangerous criminal aliens, the dismantling of tough policing, and the downgrading of sentencing including against drug traffickers, the homelessness, street violence, and drug problems are rampant.

It’s gotten so bad that EMS personnel are now being assaulted on the streets, raising the outrage of their union leader. “Mayor de Blasio, you need to do more to protect the men and women who protect and serve this city,” said Oren Barzilay, president of EMS union Local 2507 to local reporters following a vicious assault on one official. “The city is spiraling down to a chaos where there’s no respect for nobody — buckets of water thrown at police officers, assaults on EMTs and paramedics are on a daily basis, assaults on MTA workers is on a daily basis … our city has run down to a point of no return.”

Sadly, so long as both parties are committed to reducing the prison population at all costs, the criminals will continue to feel no deterrent. As Al Sharpton so often says, “No justice, no peace.” (For more from the author of “Judge Releases Convicted Gang Killer on Zero Bail” please click HERE)
